Unidentified Emirates A380-800 taxiing at Dubai International Airport (DXB).
Was sitting in A6-EDC myself, awaiting pushback for our flight to Sydney, so please excuse the quality. Multilayer aircraft windows are not exactly the best photographic filters. Was my first flight on an A380, and just as the legend proclaimed, it was extremely quiet. So quiet that I didn't even notice that the engines had been started until we began taxiing! It was also odd to have such insane amounts of (unusable) space between the window seats and the fuselage. Usually, it curves inwards, but since we were sitting on the lower deck, it curved outwards, giving you a lot of air to wave your right (or left) arm about. Or to squeeze all the pillows and blankets between armrest and wall.
Sadly though, despite the humongous proportions, the plane was not safe from turbulence, and the first half of the flight was rather bumpy to say the very least. While it's an almost majestic sight to watch that monstrous wing flexing about and the segmented ailerons gently moving up and down, I just can't avoid getting nervous during turbulence, even if it's only moderate. Still, I fared better than mom, who got the barf bag ready, but ended up not having to use it. Yay.
