heave, Sera cleared the top of the hill and with a great sigh, she
slithered into the closest shade and gave her racing heart some time
to slow. She curled into a ball and rested her head onto the top of
her coils, the feeling of being overwhelmed of today's travel lay
heavy on her eyelids.
She struggled to
keep herself awake but the more she forced herself to keep her eyes
open, the harder she found it to stay conscious. Sera slowly began to
submit to the drowsiness that soon felt very welcomed to her.
As she accepted
herself to rest, a sudden sound of something brushing against the
sands quickly caught her attention and she snapped awake. She raised
her head high above the ground but kept herself hidden against the
rock that supported the shadow.
Sharp and short
puffs of air brought her to peek over the rock. Her heart nearly
sprung from her chest as a full view of a coyote sniffing around no
more than a few feet of her. Just as the coyote turned it's head
towards her, s

with nothing green but one or two cactus. Although, not the entire
river was lost. A stream flowed from the rocks and deep enough for
the civilians to build docks and travel across on boats. On the
opposite side, sat a descent house with a wide area of crops nearly
ready for harvesting for selling to the town.
Jim, the farmer's name, supplied the
material for Sera's hat and belt that curved around her upper body in
a decorative fashion. The leather was not the best, but to Sera, it
was everything. Oil was used to help make the cracked leather shine
as if it was just from the General Store. Every other inch, there was
a new silver stud that was added to the belt to give it more design.
For Sera's hat, a single feather of the hawk that fell to her bite

looked at the area surrounding her, hoping that it was nothing but
imaginary. The heat and the feeling of the sand beneath her reminded
her that she was no longer apart of a pet life.
She sighed and
looked back at her cage with a lost and hopeless expression, before
she pushed herself away from it. There was no use in staying in a
place that gave little protection, and stung her heart every time she
looked from the glass that formed the cage, to the shredded
newspapers that gradually began to scatter in the wind. There was no
other choice, but to move forward.
When she first
entered the world outside the human home, she enjoyed the new
experiences of the fresh air, the feeling of new element she
slithered on, and the warmth of the sun that was more enjoyable than
the light that used to hang above her cage. But now, she wished that

Living as an AsexualA lot of people have asked me a lot of questions about asexuality, and do you know what? That's a good thing, I'm glad people are asking questions. From someone who is asexual, the concept is kind of easy to grasp, but I'd imagine to allosexual (non-asexuals, which should just be "sexual people" imo) people, saying you don't want to have sex is like saying that you don't want to eat food. It's not abnormal, but it seems like a sign of something legitimately being wrong with that person. To tell you the truth, given the choice about being allosexual or asexual, I wouldn't know which I'd pick. They both seem to have a lot of advantages and disadvantages.Living as an Asexual in Articles & Interviews More Like This

My thoughts on Autism SpeaksSomeone on tumblr the other day asked me what I thought of the organization Autism Speaks. Being someone on the autism spectrum they wanted to know if I had special insight to the matter. For those who don't know, I have Asperger's Syndrome (which is apparently classified as Autism Spectrum Disorder. It doesn't really matter, a change of the name doesn't change the condition all that much). They harm the lives of autistic people much more than they help and we're going to be talking about quite a few of their controversies. In fact, they've don

Writing Tips: Beginner's Guide to Avoiding ClichesOne of the biggest questions I tend to get from writers is how to avoid making their work cliche. I can't give you an upfront answer to that because the answer depends largely on what you're doing and how you're doing it. And let me start by saying this: the greatest writer on earth can make any cliche work. Think about it: How to Train Your Dragon isn't exactly an original movie by any stretch, but it's outstanding because of the way that it uses the tropes that have dragged down other similar movies in horrible ways. The best way to figure out what would be cliche is to read a ton of whatever is in your genre/plot type (and by "read" I mean read books, comic books, manuals, RPG guide books, watch television shows and movies, listen to music etc).Writing Tips: Beginner's Guide to Avoiding Cliches in Reviews & Guides More Like This

Were it not for the brightly colored masks they wore, their faces would have been the same to her. And then there was a rat, much older than the rest. Judging from his musty scent, he was practically a corpse.
They were all men, she was certain.

Should one of the men linger too long in the hallway or a group of woman giggle amongst themselves to loudly (or if they giggled at all dependent on her mood), she was quick to make her existence known without a single utterance, perhaps an annoyed clearing of the throat

Everything was still. Slightly hunched over a decorative red sandalwood desk she sat in a chair made of finely polished pink ivory with luxurious crimson velvet cushions. The papers on the desk were neatly stacked to the left while a single book titled "Flying Colors" took its residence on the right. Exactly five inches in front of the book was an antique vase that dated back 586 years. The vase was plain but along its rim was a lovely scene of couples walking through a thriving park. Pure white orchids had nestled in the relic, their clean blooms head high. Lined at the front of the desk's polished surface were a row of five pens, all black but each engraved with a different type of gem, perfectly parallel with the one next to it. Nothing moved. Not even her.
Her arms were propped up on the desk, gloved in pure black, and her hands sat folded together, the lovely slender fingers entwined. Beneath the sandalwood s

The rising sun was like fire. It was blazing without the heat and burning without the flames, bathing the landscape in red. The whole scene had the appearance of a sunset in reverse. Creeping towards a sleepy village, the glowing light slid over the mountains and hills, scorching the fields and trees. However, as the stalking light reached the Everfree forest, clouds began to move in, black and grey claws grasping for the glowing orb. A tiny sliver was all the reached the village before the clouds snuffed it out like a dying candle.
The village of Ponyville was in as sorry a state as ever. A year had passed since the war that had caused the worst of the damages but still they lingered like an unattended wound. Some attempts at repairs had been made, boards hammered over holes, debris swept from the streets, but otherwise they had been left to fester and putrefy. Time had also taken its toll, but it was secondary

The sky was the color of murky water and the ground was like an open grave. The mud was moist with thick sweat and even thicker blood that bubbled up if even the slightest pressure was applied. People were screaming, oh were they screaming. Some people were afraid and others were in excruciating torment, the kind of torment you feel when you look down and see your insides sliding out of your body. Sometimes there were screams of fear because they didn't know what had happened and where they were; only that they hurt and they wanted someone to make the hurting stop. Sometimes there was fear because they knew where they were and what was happening and they just didn't want to be there. They wanted to be five again and to run to their mother's arms because they were afraid. The terrible sounds were everywhere; the air itself seemed to be in pain. Yet still the guns fired and the people ran forward. People still killed and people still f

The trees were pathetic. Most of them were dead or dying without the care and nourishment they had been receiving for years before. They had even given up on bearing fruit. Only a dozen trees still provided bounty and they were tasteless shells of the gleaming jewels they had once been. Fed only by water and the suffocating smoke of industry, it was a miracle even these trees still stood. This land that had once been a farm of the most delicious apples for miles around had fallen into hard times, only to rise into a different kind of farming. The farming of steel and bronze. The farming of offense and defense. The farming of war machines. That's the kind of farm Sweet Apple Acres was now.
The Barn, which had once been filled with the sounds of content cows, now echoed with the sounds of unwilling metal and the harsh shouts of man. The smell of iron and sweat was always heavy in the air, as though the very walls ha

Because he had no idea where he was.
That was a good reason.
Oh crooked clovers!
Hes not here! He lied, knowing that it wouldnt really work.
Oh arent you just full of random humor? Guess asked as she pulled him closer to her. You are just way to cute!
He really wished she stopped doing that. Every time she gave him a hug, Guess would squeeze him close to her chest. She was doing on purpose, he just knew it. Still, he found himself not minding as much as he used too. In fact, he was getting use to her. Was that a bad thing? More than likely, yes but as of now he really didnt seem to care.
So what are you going to show me today? He asked.

How could all the phones in the house not be working? JoJo was flabbergasted. What about your Whophone?
Sally hadnt thought of that and she quickly took out her portable phone, quickly dialing her husbands number. For a few seconds, two Whos held their breath and waited for a reply. Then, Sally gasped and dropped the phone. JoJo glanced at her before he grabbed the phone and listened.

Running to the window, JoJo leaned against the glass, hoping to catch one glance of his parents. Then, around the corner, he saw the familiar towering hairstyle that belonged to his mother. Finally, they were home!

Someone had gone through a lot of trouble to bring him here. Well, where ever here was.

Gritting his teeth, Benson began stomping back to the house. "Ungrateful, lazy, idiotic..." As Benson walked, his footsteps softened, and eventually, all the anger was pushed out, leaving exhaustion and maybe a bit of lonliness behind.
After about an hour, nearly sunset, Benson had made it back to the house. He slowly climbed the stairs, and sat down on the couch, putting his glass head back on the old yet still soft fabric.

The park employees cheered while the restaurant employees looked dumbfounded. "Maybe he really was 'the One'," the manager said, before giving a small smile.
"So, you ready to wake Rigby up?" Skips asked. Mordecai nodded. Together, all six friends walked out of the small diner.

She looked about the same age as Benson, and she looked like a girl who partied a lot, but could be serious and threatening when she needed to be.
As soon as her sharp, high heal hit the sidewalk, Pops was over by her with a welcoming smile. "Hello Madam!" he said happily, "My name is Pops! May I ask what your name is?"

"No Pops, we're just cleaning out my collection," replied Benson as he opened another box. Since he used to be a part of a band, it was no surprise Benson had an extensive music collection. But since his apartment wasn't exactly the biggest, and there were only about a dozen records he still listened to, he decided to finally go through his collection. Any records or cds he didn't want would go to the local Salvation Army, and would hopefully be bought by someone who would appreciate them as much as Benson had.
Of course once Benson had announced this, Pops wanted to help (Mordecai and Rigby wanted to help to, but Benson, knowing it would most likely be a disaster, rejected the offer). So, here they were, in the living room of the old park house going through record after record.
"Oh my, such interesting art!" said Pops, gazing in awe at all the album covers. Some simple, and some outragous. Definitely the 80's. "Good

Mordecai and Rigby were supposed to wake up at 8 (most likely he would have to drag their lazy butts out of bed, again). Skips was probably already up, and was just relaxing in his own house before coming into work.
The familiar grindings of the coffee machine echoed through the kitchen, and the caffenated drink's scent began to travel through the house.
Just as Benson was pouring the coffee into a mug, he heard soft footsteps come down the stairs. "Good morning, my good man!" Pops said with a smile. Everything from his shined shoes to his spotless top hat made the lolliman look like he was ready for the day.
