Hallucinations: USUK OneshotArthur woke up gasping for breath, swimming in his bedsheets and a pool of his own sweat.
It took him a moment to ensure that he wasn't still trapped in his mind.
The hallucinations were always so real. They were vivid and pertained to all of Arthur's five senses. The flames that licked away at the layers of his skin, the sharp fingernails that raked across his body, drawing blood; the white-hot knives sinking their razor-sharp teeth into his arms, intent on lacerating him, and the short stretch of rough rope, handled by unseen hands, pressed against his windpipe, slowly causing him to turn blue with asphyxiation...
Arthur shuddered again, trying to suppress the memory, but the more he tried to forget, the more those thoughts stubbornly surfaced to his mind. He lifted a trembling hand towards his throat, and was shocked to feel the ragged imprint of the rope, where it had dug into his skin.
He squeezed his eyes shut, gulped, and forced his hand away from his throat. It was alway

It was a really cold day in December, the 24th to be exact, as Alfred F. Jones looked out at the snow that was forming on the ground. He kept thinking of one person that he really wanted to see this Holiday but what with the snow and how deep it was getting, he was afraid that the man wasn't going to be able to see him. He sighed and turned away from the window so that he can look at the fire that he had started a while ago, he put his hot chocolate down to add more wood for the fire.
After adding another piece of wood he turned to look at his tree that he and his lover put up together. He looked at a particular ornament that had a picture of him and his lover Arthur Kirkland in it. In the picture Alfred was holding Arthur in a big bear-hug with a huge grin on his face, and Arthur laughing slightly more than likely about the attitude of the American at the time.
Alfred smiled at the memory of taking the picture with the Brit. He walked back to his drink and picked it up just to stand a

He stared out at the raindrops falling and filling the city with a refreshing smell. What a nice day.

Beautifully dull. That is how England would describe his plane ride. The clouds idly drifting in the bright blue sky were beautiful, no doubt, but the miles and miles of cloud after cloud after cloud was extremely dull. Still, it was better than the inside of the plane, with the slim stewardesses artfully plastering fake smiles to their crinkled faces, pretending to like you and the fact that they must tend to you; and with the fellow passengers, some snoring, some grimacing as they ate the disappointing aeroplane food, some reading with a bored expression on their tired faces, and a handful of mothers half-heartedly trying to quieten their bawling babies. Yes, the clouds were infinitely better compared to that. He would just have to put up with it all, for the sake of America. England sighed. Why, oh why did he follow the boy's whims?

"Quiet, you!" Arthur clicked his tongue, shaking a feather duster at the whining man, "The sooner we get this done the sooner you can get back to that creed of the assassin or whatever the bloody hell it was this time."
"Assassin's Creed, man." Alfred huffed, furiously swiping all the nearby furnishing with the duster, "It's an awesome game, so at least remember its title."
Arthur sighed, too exhausted by the American's personality to argue anymore, instead using all his energy to scrub at a particularly stubborn stain on the table. Alfred silenced too, shoving the duster at anything and everything, and clumsily knocking a few photo frames from the mantelpiece a couple of times.
"Watch it," Arthur scowled, bending down to pick up an abused frame for the third time, "these are precious sentiments."
"Dude," Alfred smirked, "they're photos of your bros. You hate them."

The wind howled and the lightning flashed as the thunder roared in the dark filled with unknown sights and sounds and feelings. Meanwhile, shivering underneath duvets and blankets and pillows and soft toys was America. Tears welled in his eyes and fell pitter-pattering into his small, shaking hands in synchronisation with the rain hammering against the rooftop, which was making some alarming creaking sounds, almost as if threatening to give way altogether and crush the small boy. He let out another whimper as the storm growled and hissed at him angrily, the cold draught seeping in through cracks and holes and trying to tickle the young nation into submission. He just shrank into an even tighter ball as a sob wrenched itself from his throat.
He looked up at the toys huddling under the fort of sheets with him, at their warm, comforting smiles. "There, there, America," they seemed to speak to him with their gleaming button eyes, <

The morning rays of the sun were considerably warm, even for the chilly UK; but the sunlight beaming through the windows was not enough to warm America as he stared coldly at England whom laid beside him in bed. He didn't feel cold because it was autumn in Britain, nor was it because he was naked; he felt cold because of the chills that the scars plastered on England's pale skin gave him.
America reached out and stroked a few of the scars with his fingers, calloused from excessive gaming. He breathed a disapproving sigh as he remembered being younger, happily welcoming England back home, and then gasping as England removed his garments, revealing his bloody, bandaged torso. "Just a flesh wound" he would say, but for America it was an emotional blow. He remembered how his weak fingers used to reach out and stroke that wounded torso, as they were doing now, in the present time.

Arthur was in a considerably foul mood. He exhaled in annoyance, not really listening to the American's rant about how Harry Potter ended too abruptly, and couldn't J.K bring out another book? He was far too tired to retaliate with the fact that since Voldemort had been defeated there were no exciting events occurring anymore, and so, the next generation of Hogwarts students would be leading boring lives not at all worthy of a few hundred pages of telling. Instead his mind wandered back to the house they had embarked from a few minutes prior. The house with a boiled kettle ready to pour a steaming cup of tea which he could consume whilst huddled under layer upon layer of warm blankets, reading a good book by some enthralling author. His mind soon hesitantly wandered back to his current situation though as a cold wind rattled through him and snow left icy kisses on his flushed face. He shivered violently and adjusted his scarf further over his face.

Tall grass swayed along with the surrounding trees, creating a whispering symphony. The sun warmed his skin with its gentle rays and lit everything with a pleasant glow. Leaves swirled around his feet, as if they were dancing.
Alfred stood in the middle of a clearing, serene and silent. Despite his rowdy personality, he quite liked the natural parts of his country; he could be himself. When he was in forests or on mountains, he did not have to worry about future conferences, finances, nor what people thought about him.
Beside him was someone whom he both loved and admired greatly. Though several inches shorter, he stood with a certain posture and pr

Darkness. Confusion. Running.
Panicked and afraid of what might be following. Trying to find and rescue the one he loved. Rain slapping him hard in the face, tripping over his own feet. The smell of fear and blood thick in the air.
Flashes of scenes went by and he couldn't keep up. A delicate white rose sitting in his love's hand. A genuine smile with sparkling green eyes and warm, callused hands that encircled his own. Then it switched back to bloodcurdling screams, black shadows, and more running. A street appeared before him, looking exactly like the ones in London. Thick clouds covered the moon and the ground was wet with rain. Far in front of him, someone was running, too. Before he could see who it was, Alfred stumbled and crashed to the ground
Blackness took over the minimal scenery once again, but the person remained. He turned around to reveal forest green eyes, pronounced eyebrows, and a solemn expression. His lips were pursed in distaste.

It hurt so badly. It hurt so deeply. It was a pain I had never known and never could have even hoped to imagine.
My heart had been ripped out so horribly and stepped on until it was nothing more than the blood-stained mud I collapsed into.
The rain tried to calm me. It tried to wash away the gore and loss, just like it always did at home. But this wasn't home to me anymore. I could never come back and never see his shining face again. It was too late for me.
How could this have happened to me? What could have possibly gone so wrong that this was our final resort?
He glared down at me. His crystal eyes were half-pitiful and half-hateful. I detested my own weakness for bringing it out in him.
He was the only innocent thing I'd ever known. Ever cared for. My shining jewel amongst a sea of wrong. And here he was. My little lamb, drowning in the black sea.
And it was all my fault.
My poor America. What happened? What happened to us? The tears wouldn't stop flowing. They fel

A small boy hid in the darkness, his entire being shaking with the utmost fright. Small tears leaked from his eyes and left his rosy cheeks damp. Every burst of lightning and bellow of thunder that erupted from the outside world penetrated the boy's makeshift fort, causing a soft whimper or sob to escape from his terrified lips.
Finally, unable to stand it any longer, he leapt from his cocoon of blankets and raced across the cold wood floor. His bare feet padded franticly as he made his way down the hall and to the large oak door that blocked him from his beloved caretaker.
Without even bothering to knock, he opened the wide door

Although he wasn't a pathetic sniveling mass of cowardice anymore, even the gentlest cracks of thunder or dimmest bolts of lightning would have his heart racing and eyes darting nervously.
His fingers and toes twitched unconsciously, begging and pleading for him to escape into the sanctuary of Arthur's room like he had when he was younger. Of course there was no way he would or could ever comply.
Arthur was here merely on business, not leisure! It was be extremely rude, not to mention slightly embarrassing, if Alfred showed up and asked to share a room just because he was afraid of a little storm. How could he ever call himself a hero when he couldn't even stand one measly storm without breaking into a cold sweat?

We spent the next few hours playing his X-Box and laughing every time I fell out of a banshee or blew myself up. It was relaxing and it was easy. Nothing had ever been easy for me. My life was one big video game of final bosses that would never ever EVER seem to die.
Except for Alfred. Spending the afternoon with him was like pressing pause for a few hours. I could breathe and I could laugh. He made the world seem just a bit brighter, as cliché as it may sound.
I smiled. He smiled.
It felt like a dream. Some sort of fog was clouding my mind, blocking me from thoughts of my mother and the homework weighing heavily in my bag.
But like every dream, reality would be there to greet you when you wanted it the least.
My watch beeped. Was it really already six? How had it gotten that late already!?
"Alfred, I need to leave. I uh have an arseload of homework that I really need to get started on."
Not technically a lie.

I couldn't make a simple batch of cookies for America.
I glared at the cookie tray resting warmly in my trembling fingers. Small scorched blobs protruded from the tray. Smoke seeped through the holes in their cracked, but gooey, surface. Somehow the laws of nature didn't seem to apply or like me. They were burnt....well....seared really and yet, they still managed to stay under-cooked the entire time.
Alfred tried to hide his grimace.
"This looks like the best batch yet Artie! I'm serious, let me have one." His hand shot out, quicker than it should have but I snatched the tin back faster.
His fake cheeriness only seemed to rub my continual failure in further.
"Liar," I spat with a scowl. Turning quickly, I threw the tray against the wall and smiled angrily at the comforting CRACK that resounded through the house. My failure splattered the walls as

I walked carefully over to our meeting place. What were the chances he'd blown me off and not shown up?
He was waiting anxiously at the corner for me, just like we planned. Darn. I was hoping he'd forget to come so I would have an excuse to never talk to him.
Still, him being here now seemed odd. He didn't strike me as the type of guy who'd show up early, let alone on time.
"Alfred," I sighed. "You're here "
He whipped his head around and hopped from one foot to the other.
"Artie! You made it! Glad you totally didn't blow me off!"
Shouldn't I be the one saying that?
"Well, that would be rude. I am a gentleman and that means something to me."
He laughed. Honestly, did this boy have any manners?
"Ha ha, you're so funny Artie!"
"Arthur," I muttered. How hard is it to get a name correct?
"Annnnyway, my place is right around the corner, over here." He pointed frantically. I merely shook my head at him. His franticness seemed to be stemming f

War of 1812:
Our feet pounded loudly as we ran down the cobblestone street. Windows and doors slammed shut, leaving nothing but an echoing bang to follow us as we trailed off into the night. Candles that once cast warm happy glows in windows were harshly blown out to not attract attention to the residents fearfully shaking within.
It didn't matter though. Nothing mattered right now, except for one thing. One crucial important thing. We had to burn down his heart.
Eventually, after much marching and wrong turns, we came upon the building that loomed over us like the moon's shadow.
Next to me, Canada shivered nervously.
"Are y-you sure we should do this?" His violet eyes glowed with uncertainty in contrast to the inky blackness of night.
I knew what he was really asking. 'Can you do this?'
I don't blame him for asking. In the previous war, I had been unable to strike America down and end the war, in my favor at least. But this time was different. This time I kn

Chapter 2: Family is a terrible thing
The house was dark and silent. There was no laughter or children playing in the yard. All the windows watched me with black empty glares as I walked to the front porch of my old Victorian home.
I waited. I waited. I waited. I sighed.
Nothing. No joyous cries of 'Arthur!' or 'Brother!'. It's not as if I was expecting anyone to actually be home. No, hope was just a cruel trick of the mind. I never 'expected' anything anymore.
Trudging into the kitchen gloomily, I examined the cold room for the usual note. It was stuck to the fridge.
"Took the girls to the amusement park. We'll be gone awhile. Heat up some food for dinner. Do the chores. Don't break anything. Mom"
How nice, she actually signed this one.
I crumpled it up and tossed it into the waste bin. The notes she wrote were a waste of time. I'd always come home and be expected to clean the house, the

To make matters weirder, every other word out of his mouth was 'awesome'.
Sitting next to him was a platinum blonde boy with piercing blue eyes and an intimidating aura. He sat stiffly and seemed transfixed with the dozing red-head across from him.
Looks like we had a real batch of winners this year.
It was hard to tell each nationality from one another because they all sat together and spoke at once. Some sat quietly and watched while others were practically screaming out of excitement and hyperactivity.
It was odd to see this year's group get along so well. The previous years, all the exchange students shied away from everyone, including each other. This year, they all looked so..so..fr

I mean, there must be something wrong when you can't walk into a library and find peace.
A person like me adores the quiet sanctuary of the library and I often came to forget the loneliness of losing my dad. He died a few years ago but it still felt like just yesterday.
The library was my only mean of forgetting that constant torture, but today it was being infested with new faces with loud voices. I couldn't just stand by and let my perfect home be interrupted by these these barbarians!
My name is Arthur Kirkland, and I was going to do everything to get the Exchange Student Program eradicated from this school permanently.

And white sand on the beaches, being beaten by the untiring waves of the infinite ocean.
That was all he seemed to ever see.
Steel eyes stared out into the space where the chilly blue water leaned on the bright sky, but still this wonder remained unknown to him though he was already eighteen. He could see it from the balcony hanging on his tall room, white bricks piecing it together like a puzzle that kept him in his cage. He spent lots of his time here alone. Here, where the salty wind embraced him in its firm warmth.
"Your highness," A voice spoke with a strange, almost snake-like tongue. But he had grown so used to it, the sound had become one of the few voices he heard enough to recognize the speaker without seeing them.
"Gilbert," He replied simply without turning around. He just kept leaning on the railing of his balcony, staring out towards the ocean. "What is it?"

APH-UKUS 1It had been a long, tedious day. Arthur sighed exaggeratedly, moving towards his large, two story home in London, England. Like always, Alfred had bothered the world meeting with his blasted outbursts on everything that was said (And stuffing his American cheeks with those indecently greasy hamburgers no less. But what was new?). So, not much got done because of that bloody aggro. Sometimes Arthur wondered if that boy was always bleeding blinkered! He pushed the door open, welcomed by the same empty house in the same cool place in a less busy part of London. He clicked the door behind him shut and stepped into the spacious, neat building. His booshy brows pushed together as his mind still wondered what could make a man so annoying and loud. But, then again, he suppo

"What the bloody " He moaned, sitting up and looked at his naked form before him. Why was he so hot right now? It wasn't even sunny out. Upon inspection, he found strange places on his normally pale form that had round, red circles. He moved his hand and touched some of the dots curiously, soon finding there were quite a few on his neck as well.
"What are these "
He lost his thought when he heard a low grunt, and looked over at the bare American beside him, face shoved in the pillow he held so tightly. Suddenly, he felt his face burn, the sun nothing to the warmth in his red face.
"America! Get up, you stupid git!" He shrieked, hitting the other on the head. He watched the American jult and grab onto his shoulders worriedly.

Alfred laughed, "Calm down, dude. We're just going to breakfast! I have to build up our energy for the meeting today!"
Arthur flinched. He had completely forgotten another world meeting was being held again today like yesterday. Both of which were set in the northern part of London.
Alfred laughed, this grasping the older nation's hand tightly and pushed some shoes on his feet before motioning England to do the same.

Germany nodded, coughing to get attention back on him though now his own, light blue eyes would run over to Italy beside him. Romano would growl every time this happened and Spain eventually wrapped an arm around is smaller partner.

Arthur wasn't buying this, but fine. Whatever the real reason was he'd figure it out. "So, you're too scared to remember, huh, America?" He taunted lightly, turning back to his cooking only to feel something hit the back of his shaggy head. Twitching, he turned around again, glaring at the man who glared in return. It was surely easy to get brassed off at him sometimes!
"Ha! I'm the HERO! Remember, old man? Hero's don't get scared!" Alfred replied after throwing a spoon at the back of the older nation's head.

"H-Hey. Hey there. Hey? You have something going on with that that " He pointed his index finger out, lifting it to his head and going back and forth, making a swirl. Obviously trying to name Italy and using his finger to indicate his odd curl.
"Italy?" Germany finished the sentence, a little tipsy himself as his normally pale cheeks were a light pink. But nothing like the Brit beside him. Ludwig looked over the man, still lazily slumped over on the bar. His eyes were dizzy and his face was a bright red from the alcohol.

Was he breathing? Arthur wasn't sure anymore. He couldn't feel it, just every eye on him and the burning heat in his face.

Then, disappointment. Surprise.
Alfred watched as his lover whipped around, running up the stairs towards his room, leaving him kneeling there with ide eyes and no answer.

Just from on the dock you could see how monstrous in size this ship was. It was dark in color but the wood was carved neatly into exotic patterns that told stories like the ones Alfred used to read about. He remembered dreaming of them every night as a child. There were eight legged sea monsters and beautiful women with the tails of fish singing to the heavens.
