That might be fun maybe, but that wasn't for today. Instead, today he got a ton of homework from his parents, because he had to be sure he knew what was going on in the world before leaving on a journey in a year. Well, that was all in fine, but turned out there were a lot of books to read. He didn't remember any of the other kids reading any of these books before becoming trainers. He had been given a huge pile of books to read that he could just barely carry. So, he had been carrying them home from the library, when he had tripped, sent most of the books flying into the air. He had gathered most of them easily, but one of the books.

However counterbalancing this is widespread poverty, disease, degradation of the under classes, crime, and wantonness among the idle rich to replace the forgotten virtues of the past. Glowing embers dance in a plume of black smoke. As the smoke clears the crumbling, smoldering statue of King Acorn is revealed, below it the shattered wreckage of Mobotropolis. Laser fire jumps back and forth between the amassed armies of HUMANS and MOBIANS, while human attack ships, assault vehicles, and Robotniks legions of SWATBOTS descend from all sides upon the remaining populace.

1: The Edge
Julian Ivo Kintobor recounts the history of his people to a recently invented robot he's cobbled together between his grueling work as a breaker; salvaging pieces from the enemy Mobian war machines brought down into his bunker city. He relates briefly the Xorda invasion and the ongoing struggle with the Mobian enemy. Finally he recounts his own life, building a criminal network to see how people tick and reading up on famous dictators for inspiration. The Edge relates to the tipping point in his personality, from wanting to better his people to despairing of mankind and wanting power and control. It also relates to the edge of the table he slowly coaxes the robot to by degrees until it willing follows his orders and smashes to pieces on the floor.
2: The One Who Will Save Us

THE END OF THE WORLD
Long before mankind came to be there was The Conradine. A collective societal construct, they had one been barely sentient mollusks in the slimy seas of their home world Alfyr but some powerful will forced them to crawl from the depths and fashion themselves generation by generation into a society of scholars, warriors, and priests. They worshiped balance itself, believing matter and energy was finite and interdependent, all occurrences to each object or being resonating throughout the Aggregate: the sum total of existence. It was by harnessing these resonant patterns that The Conradine developed a system of technology through carefully modulated sound waves interpreted through specially carved crystals. By this they could pilot their vehicles wit

Planet Athena is one of well over a zillion worlds humankind has colonized, specifically a 'squatter' planet of low priority for the ruling Consortium, low enough that colonization is accessible to settlers of limited means or a desperate desire for freedom.
Whereas poor terra forming, dangerous wildlife, unfriendly natives or poor resources define other squatter planets, Athena has a little more complex history behind its status. To power through space, wage war, build settlements, and explore ever further into the universe mankind has built many, many machines with varying purposes and designs, but like all things these devices are not eternal. To maintain the raw materials of literally millions of broken or worn out robots, space ships, and other mechanisms, Athena was designated a scrap yard world, where the junk of the surrounding planets could be stored in great piles until Consortium officials could be bothered to melt it down for reuse. Zach Synder is rapidly gaining a reputation as a visionary director even since his powerful debut with Dawn of the Dead. He reinvigorated comic movies with the success of 300 and confirmed his credit as a comic movie director with the highly faithful Watchmen. His reputation revolves around his devotion to classic geek culture, the archetypes of science fiction and fantasy brought to vivid larger the life reality by the latest computer generated effects. He's also infamous for having scantily clad and promiscuous female characters in compromising situations, overblown combat set pieces, and incredible amounts of slow motion photography.
All of these things blend into his latest production: SuckerPunch.
Apparently a long time vanity project with roots in his early childhood artwork, SuckerPunch was initially marketed as 'Alice in Wonderland with machine guns' when it was first announced. The title alone suggests something powerful, blunt force, shock

The villains of Literature love to devise
Elaborate snares for a victim's demise;
They all gloat with bombastic, sadistical glee,
Allowing the hero ample time to flee!
But when I'm encompassing an enemy's doom,
I keep it simple: brick them up in a tomb!
For Poe's "Cask of Amontillado" says it best:
Strike your foe where he lives, and ignore the rest!
Always be friendly, courteous and polite
As you savor your victim's despair with delight;
Let them know that they willingly entered the trap,
With no one to blame but themselves--oh, snap!
And before you slide the last brick in the wall,
Tell them this as the dark covers them like a pall:
"No revenge so complete as forgiveness, my friend!"
Let them contemplate that as their worthless lives end...

It was 1:32 A.M., and Lenore Corbeaux was strolling along a deserted sidewalk, clad in her favorite purple minidress and black thigh-high boots; the full moon, peering down through some ragged clouds, highlighted her boyishly short raven hair as she skipped across the street to take a short-cut through her favorite cemetery, where three shadowy figures were waiting for her.
"Yeah, I always cut through the graveyard on my way home," Lenore had boasted earlier, at the night-club where she was partying; three extremely pale goth-types, two men and a woman, had overheard her, exchanged glances, and slipped out. Their names were Urek, Cassio, and Ilona, and they've been vampires since the reign of Louis XIII.
Urek, the leader of the trio, made the first move---gliding out from behind a tall granite obelisk, he blocked Lenore's path with a toothy grin: "May I walk you home, young lady?" he purred, his eyes glinting like quicksilver i

I went to bed hungry, and God! how I dreamed---
Running over hill and dale on four mighty paws,
Hungry and dreadful my voice as I bayed and howled!
A flock of sheep lay before me,
In a moonlit meadow of grass and sweet clover
And high-spraying blood that shone black on the ground
As I killed and killed and killed!
Glutted, I loped over the reeking red hill
And slunk into a darkling wood to slumber...
Retching, I wake up with wool in my mouth
And a well-gnawed sheep's head for a pillow---
Merciful God, not again...

As I sat one day at the Laundromat,
My load of clothes tumbling dry,
A girl walked in and blew my mind
As she traips'd blithely by!
She was flaxen and fair, with big blue eyes
And a slender, leggity bod--
She sat down next to me with a smile
And I thought, "Thank You, God!"
Before I could inhale and say Hello
She stood and did a dance
With a basket of undies on her head--
She put me in a trance!
This crazy blonde vision put her load in the wash
And sat right on my lap;
She gave me a nudge and a flirty wink
And said "No time for a nap!"

I long for those far-off days of glory,
The Age of Arthur, the oft-told story
Of that noble King and wise old Merlin,
In my head the Round Table swirling
Like a vortex, drawing me in...
Can't we have those times again?
They had a dream, a noble vision,
To raise Mankind from strife, division
And base desires; to be all we can be,
A world free from Hate, Envy
And petty Greed; it's what we need
To quest after, that Perfect Dream,
The light on Excalibur's blade doth gleam,
Showing us the way--we all are knights,
Riding forth to defend the rights
'Tis true, Camelot fell and failed;
Launcelot's love, Guenevere's betrayal
And Mordred's poisoned, scheming brain...
But I know it was not in vain
And if we strive, we'll achieve the Grail
And Arthur himself will shout, "All Hail!"

When we reached the town, I was shocked. Surrounding the small beach city was a vast, concrete wall with thick, spiraling barbwire topping it off. Team Galactic grunts patrolled the barrier, and a single gate towered above us.

Hmph .this town already annoyed me. It's way too cheery.
I yawned. The flight had been long; it took us about five days to get here, including stops for rest and refreshment along the way. Even though I did sleep through most of it, I still felt strangely tired.
I hopped off of Staraptor, stretched, and took a brief look at the town. It seemed like an oddly stereotypical place, complete with cookie-cutter houses and tiny local shops. I really hope that I don't have to stay long.

Spiraling minarets rose from the heights of innumerable buildings, each with their own foreign architecture never before created in the world as she knew it. Towers and edifices reached to marry the sky in perfect harmony while low-lying adobes hugged the earth in a melody of technology and ancient wonder. In the center of the wonderland stood a quiet cottage. This is where the girl dwelt amongst her imagined realm.
