It's been a while since I've done color work (well, about two weeks... but that's a lot when the San Diego Con is three months away)... and this one has been traced for almost a month...

Anyway, when that happens I gotta start again by the book: warm light, cold shadow, everything thought out, so I get back in track.

when I'd wait for meetings, or stare at tv... I'd take an 05 micron and cross hatch away at this thing...

an air-metro police pilot makes final preparations before takeoff.
with his jump jetbike fueled up and armed, he'll join other pilots and patrol a designated grid section.

note engines stand almost vertically for landing gear to extend. engines pitch for forward flight, rapid accent/descent and hovering. cannon is housed in front engine cowling. to the right is some kind of processing plant with ships bringing in supplies.

I've been so so busy with work until now. This will be my last
artwork for this year.

A recon team checks out a flooded abandoned factory.
The power slave unit provides added firepower should they
encounter enemy units. Note cannon on mech's left hand
can be folded back and onto shoulder rails for storage or
shoulder mounted firing.

A ship recharges its engines and power systems while another waits its turn. Note platform adjusts depending on size of craft.

Except for minor adjustments, everything was done in Painter IX.5. This is the first time I've created a complete work in Painter and basically experimented with the tools and color. I was watching some Ryan Church DVDs and was inspired to create this.

Poster concept for a movie that may or may not become a reality at some point in the future. Yes, it is kinda rough in a lot of places. It was a rush job.

So there I am, happily sketching away at some soldier dude for no other reason than feeling like sketching. 20 minutes in, I go "Hey, this looks like that gasmask dude from Killzone...". Grr. I try to sketch somewhat away from him. 20 minutes later. "Hey, this looks sort of like a Star Wars stormtrooper..." Grr. No way to be original with scifi soldiers these days! Ah well. Was nice to sketch in any case. ^^
