— Lauren E. Simonutti
Quote by Lauren E. Simonutti
“ The misfirings of my beloved/despised mind that conspire to convince me to destroy all have rendered me housebound and led to a solitary life. A creature of past, proof, memory and imaginary friends, I am aware enough to know the things I see and hear are not real, but that does not mean I do not still see and hear them.”
For a very long time Lauren Simonutti's haunting photographs were a spectral presence amongst

The J. Paul Getty Museum has initiated an Open Content Program to share, freely and without restriction, as many of the Getty’s digital resources as possible.
A first sharing of 4,600 high-resolution images of the Museum’s collection, including many masterworks, has just been made available and all are free to use, modify, and publish for any purpose.
In a brilliant stroke, the Getty Museum has liberated one of the top collections of art in the world not just for access but for use. The museum is literally “beaming up” the great works in its collection as living resour

Opening the Darkest Door
I have recently come across a most disturbing phenomenon in my studies of the Diabolic Infestation of the Soul. It seems there is a most frightening psychological conundrum when considering the concept of demonic possession even the most remote possibility of reality upon our earthly plane is the notion that just believing it may be true could very likely be the spark needed for the Demon to discover, seek out, and ultimately inhabit its next vessel of evil: You.

What do you think your favorite city will look like in one hundred years?
Architect Rem Koolhaas has completed a “vertical city” complex in Rotterdam, bringing a new style of multi–purpose skyscrapers to the city skyline. Bennett Stein wrote about the new buildings for KCRW’s Design & Architecture blog, calling the creator “the Godzilla of architecture.”
Here’s an excerpt from Stein’s essay:

His Books of Blood in the 1980s established him as a premier master of the horror narrative, on an equal level or even surpassing Stephen King, who said of him;
I have seen the future of horror, his name is Clive Barker.
Like King, Barker’s works of horror have been adopted and adapted for movies, his stories becoming the basis for the Hellraiser and Candyman series and many more. Beyond his stories being used as source material, Barker has worked as screenwriter, producer, actor and director in the film world.

A Pop Culture Interpretation of The Supernatural
Every culture around the world created gods and other mythical beings by mixing and matching fanged and taloned animal parts—e.g., enormous eagle heads on lions’ bodies—human beings have always seemed to need to believe there are powerful and usually quite vengeful supernatural beings lurking just beyond the candlelight.
Supernatural beings come to serve several purposes:
They kept people on the lighted path of truth and goodness, fearful of exploring beyond;
They were a reminder of the punishment we deser

It’s rare that a “new” iconic monster is born and becomes forever identifiable,—— no matter the variations, by generation after generation. So it was when George Romero created the ultimate “zombie” in his Night of the Living Dead in 1968. Zombie Apocalypse fans today may have never heard of George or seen the original “Night,” but the zombies they so love in fare like The Walking Dead owe their existence to Romero’s original vision.
In 1979, screenwriter Dan O’Bannon craft

The Capture vs. The Pose
portrait of a WW2 vet...
When a subject poses to have his or her photograph taken, the subject tries to project a message about himself or
herself by how he or she “poses”, by the attitude of his or her body language or facial expression.
If the subject is posed by the photographer, the body pulled and prodded into the desired angles,
the facial expression “directed”, it is the photographer who is intending to communicate a message.
In either case, posing or posed, there is undeniably something “false” in the representation.

And juvenile they must be, as anyone with a mite more experience would realise that any weight you hope your words might have is completely lost when someone visits your "slander" profile and reads the numbers "0 Deviations", "0 Favourites", "0 Watchers", "No Journal entries", etc.
It renders your words as vacuous as your gallery.
So if you're going to type stuff like "I feel like some of the smut you draw takes away from the credibility of your art as a whole." or

Irn Bru is made from girders, the Scots claim. And I believe them.
The alarmingly coloured liquid is “Scotland’s other national drink” after the obvious Whiskey. It’s been produced since 1901 and is now illegal in Canada because it contains Ponceau 4R, a food colourant that is considered a carcinogenic be some food standard agencies around the world. One which may cause a reaction in those allergic to aspirin and intensify the effects of asthma. Even the USA, who are generally happy to eat anything, insisted the formula be altered before sale within its borders, and even then it can only be purchased in 500ml bottles out of the fear that any greater intake will result in someone dissolving.
“Irn Bru” is the phonetically written pronunciation of “Iron Brew”, as said with the collective speech impediment that is the Scottish accent (the result of collapsed nasal passages due to centuries of

I believe that Minecraft is the future of massive multiplayer games, and I'm surprised that none of the big developers/publishers have cottoned onto it yet.
They look at Minecraft and think its success is down to its business model, or to its blocky, retro charm.
It's down to the fact that you get out of it what you put into it.
With a MMORPG, there are pre-scripted quests. With Minecraft, you set the quests yourself or others.
User created content is the key. All you have to do is provide the players with the tools to build.
There are two types of gamer: wall builders and wall breakers.
Wall builders are the ones that spend an age in an RTS game getting their base just right. They play SimCity and act as Dungeon Master during an RPG.
Wall breakers are the type to follow the mission brief. They get set a quest and they follow it. They're the Call of Duty crowd and they're never more happy than when

It was founded in the 8th century, eventually becoming based in Baghdad, and was a major intellectual centre during the Islamic Golden Age. Scholars there made it their business to collect as much information as they could, from all corners of the known world. They would collect books and texts and return them home for translation. It made the people of the Islamic world among the most culturally advanced on the planet.
They constructed astronomical observatories, they forwarded the science of medicine, mathematics, chemistry, zoology, geography and cartography. They drew upon the work of both those who had come before, and their contemporaries, and then advanced it. Many inventions from the Islamic Golden Age have had a legacy that lasts up until this very day:
So, what happened? If the House of Wisdom was such a fountain of knowledge a

Now this was really hard in the VHS era, because a paused image on a VHS is usually either broken up or shakes so much that you’ll have some kind of fit if you look at it too long, it depended on how cheap and sh*tty your machine was.
But I worked really hard at it, man. I spent ages getting the linework just right, I was so careful, and when I peeled the page from the static cling of the bulbous, cathode ray tube screen, the character looked exactly right on the page. And you wanna know what I took away from that endeavour? What all that effort taught me?

You don’t pick up or develop any skills by tracing. You don’t devise and perfect your own methods by tracing. You do not progress as an artist by tracing. All you get is a loss of credibility, especially in this day and age, bec

1.) Are LONG ANIMES necessary? State your argument to your claim.
Yes because I need both short and long series to keep myself entertained. At least I have something to always look forward to in long series.
2.) Hate is not the opposite of love—it is the disorder of the heart. If that’s so what do you think is that? And what is the opposite of love then?
Hate is just a feeling a get when something makes my life unenjoyable. For example, I hate cigarettes because they make me feel sick and I go home smelling bad. I can't avoid it because everyone in the city smokes no matter where I go. -_-
The opposite of love would be loneliness and heartlessness (or lack of compassion).
3.) What brings out your philosophical side?
Usually when I'm trying to explain why something is the way it is, history and when I'm trying to write a story/design a character
4.) And lastly what was the biggest heartbreak you

note: Faving this journal might help with your exposure but it's solely up to your fellow deviants ~
It takes me a while to put these together and it's a bit of a tedious process, so if you commented on my other journal to be featured, please take a look at everyone else's work too. After all, it's only fair that way and if you don't, it's just a little selfish and your conscience will bug you . So yah, share the love, guys!
These are ordered first come first serve style; I will be showing around 50 pieces at one time (I still have a lot to go through and it adds up every time i put up a feature journal), and be featuring once a week or bi-weekly as to not clog up your message boxes. It'll p
10 Types Of Street Photographers"Over the last few years, I have met or seen in action quite a few photographers. A lot of great and passionate people covering a wide range of styles, gear and personalities. Here is therefore an attempt to classify them in different types. This is evidently a satire, to be taken with humor, but I am sure you'll find a little bit of yourself in some of these types.10 Types Of Street Photographers in Art Features More Like This
I) The Intellectual : Everything in a shot is about lines, metaphors, psychology, sociology, history or you name it. No element in his pictures is ever the result of hazard since his swift eyes detected and interpreted every single detail before he triggered. Even the lousiest shot becomes the next Michelangelo after going through his everlasting rhetoric. Yet, most often, he is actually the only one to understand, and like his pictures.
II) The English Patient : Patience is his main virtue. A shot is as good as the time and effort it took to get it. He identifies carefully a setting, studies the light
The Birth of PhotographySince the late Renaissance that artists and inventors had been looking for a mechanical method of capturing visual scenes. Previously, using the camera obscura, artists would manually trace what they saw, but this was used in drawing, study and entertainment, not commercial purposes. The Birth of Photography in Personal More Like This
The first commercially photographic process with sucess was the Daguerréotype, in wich the obtained image was (is) a direct positive made in the camera on a silvered copper plate.
The surface of a daguerreotype is like a mirror, with the image made directly on the silvered surface. It is very fragile and can be rubbed off with a finger, and the finished plate has to be angled so as to reflect some dark surface in order to view the image properly. Depending on the angle viewed, and the color of the surface reflected into it, the image can change from a positive to a negative.
The exposure in the camera was too long to conveniently take portraits, and the first subjects taken were street scen
The Truth in PhotographyAs you might know, one of the biggest controversies of the moment is the outcome of the Contest Pictures of The Year International. The Truth in Photography in Art Features More Like This
This photo, from Chip Litherland, was the winner.
The controversy? The process by which the image was obtained: a cellular phone.
And, of course, without the natural colors but with the treatment we learned to recognize: Hipstamatic.
Without taking sides, and only making some questions, let's see:
Why and how the photo was taken? Because the photographer was there and used the reachable method at the time.
Is it a manipulation? Well, the colors, tones, contrasts are not natural.
The reality is there, depicted, but the obtained image is just an interpretation. As usual.
But doesn't your camera interpret the reality in a different way from mine? Even with the same camera and model, in the same place, it's possible to interpret the reality in a different way: all we have to do is tweak pre-set modes. Is this not true
