2012, so far, has been rather productive, I've been quietly studying new tools to work with and working on new material. The big thing is I'm returning to Zbrush in a significant way (expect to see some peeks of that work some time soon-ish... FOILs maybe? Mmmmmaybe) and trying to get work rolling I had to shelf due to events last year. You can expect to see a lot of new stuff so stay tuned
To kick things off for '2012 The Mayan UFOcolypse of un-time-en-ing... ing' we have a full paint of Harma Bhatra I had been dying to get to for some time.
The Harma Bhatra MJ-11a was developed by the Waimanu FOIL Works, the company also responsible for the dreaded Gottheitzerstorer FOILjaeger's of the wildly experimental 3rd generation of FOIL development (Waimanu is the company Karl :icongenocidalpengion: coined for his FOIL designs and derived aesthetics/design collabs). There are some clear visual cues that nod back to the Gottheitzerstorer. Though the Harma Bhatra is a very formidable Faedai combat frame it's nowhere near as massive as the Gottheitzerstorer was so the similarities have more to do with the manufacturer's distinct visual design cues than anything. Begining service toward the very end of the 4th gen period the Harma Bhatra might as well have been a 5th gen. Clear design cues point to what was to come in FOIL development; the covered limbs with equipment ports for customization, the appearance of enigmatic sensor equipment, the more streamlined aesthetics. The FOILs were changing before anyone, not in the know, knew why. Change was on the horizon as the sendai moved more, and more toward spiritual and political concerns, more freedoms. As such the Hindai movment (derived obviously from Hinduism in name and some core concepts but also having aspects of Buddhism and Taoism as well) spread and it's influence began to inform the naming conventions of the FOILs, Harma Bhatra is certainly an example of this.
It was cool to finally paint this beast because I knew it would really look ace in full color. It seemed doing the familiar military O.D. green would look great on this guy along with a hefty caking of dirt and dust to show it's been out there kicking ass for some time. The markings on this one are sparse with just the 40 r TAC number being identifiable (this machine is stationed in the Rience territory, the same Rience razed to the ground by a Gottheitzerstorer. Yes that is a biiig ass weapon, absurdly so... indeed I just wanted to draw a big ass cannon shettier for this one. The weapon would likely be fired from fixed positions with weapon mounts created to support the thing. To move from position to position the weapon would also employ an Icar field (anti-gravitic drive) in concert with the FOIL's field.
As I noted in the original line art postings for this thing...
the design was a very direct collaboration between and myself. Karl's original design I launched my new FOIL interpretation off can be seen here: [link] Full details of how I went about creating the new design can be found in the line art posting (see link above).
I felt it apt to post this one as a really hi-res image so click download for full view, the beastie be loaded with all kinds o textures, parkarization, and details. More work is coming in due time

New pencil illustration, digital inks, FOIL concept re-design/re-imagining and colors by Mike Majestic Photoshop CS3
I've actually been pretty busy with various things so far in yonder 2012-opolypse much of which is working on mastering 3D. I have managed to sneak in some new FOIL paints, Harma Bhatra being the first and now this bad boy. Expect others to follow
The first posting of this FOIL was a mono-chromatic pseudo-ad kind of presentation.
I had always intended to do a full color version and, along with a lot of other works soon to drop, it's finally here. This would be the combat painted version of the Nal-Farbute featured in the original fictional ad.
The design of the FOIL is all me, however I consider this one somewhat of a a collab as provided it's name.
Nal-Farbute: (Fierce striking needle) sorta old Swedish/Danish/Norwegian/Icelandic
As I've noted before, naming conventions in TKP straddle from accurate meaning to mixed up and inaccurate (which is intentional to keep their sense of history fractured).
The Nal-Farbute is not quite an ECM or EWAC system but something more specific to events unfolding in Theos Ke Polemos during the Siege of the Black Son. This machine is a 5th generation FOIL, through and through. Nal-Farbute is also the result of Oshen and Dies going into partnership in order to deal with the new threats facing the Polemon theater. So having the two most respected FOIL manufacturers behind this machine means it's a formidable beast indeed. This places the machine in the Siege of the Black Son period when FOILs, and Polemos itself, are in a fight for survival.
For the new full color version I went with a base of Dark O.D. greens in two-tone adding a faded, weather beaten, layer of camouflage over some of the surfaces while maintaining the two-tone look in others. All the marking are the same as the original monochrome posting because this is the same FOIL only in full combat paints and with a few years worth of wear and tear weathering. I didn't change the line art much, save adding a slightly beefed up extra calf surface on the legs with the nano tube armor mesh.
There are, of course, added textures and parkerized armor surfaces all over the machine so, by all means do the full view download to see it more clearly. As with the previously posted Harma Bhatra this is hi-res

As promised here is the full color posting of Gumbinnen Sems.
I posted the line art version of Gumbinnen a week ago and it can be seen here: [link]
Additionally relevant and noteworthy the recent Vulne Pro blog post covering Gumbinnen's development history (with examples of original Gumbee art from the 90s) as a design and, actually, the very first sendai: [link] If you're following the TKP work the blog is worth a look or follow.
This color version was actually completed at the time but I didn't want to bunch up the posts and wanted them to be separate presentations.
The concept of the taedai is pretty straight forward, they are the forward shield to the human partner in law enforcement and military applications. They are the forward investigations, the scout, the protector/body guard to their human user. A "use system" is the symbiotic neural bond between the human and taedus and often this bond is sent up in a way that benefits the human user more. In Gumbinnen and Heath's case it's a bond of mutual respect and Heath's relationship with Gumbee is more like a close friend.
With the colors we get a better sense of the varied materials and surfaces on Gumms (the bakelite textured mustard parts far more apparent in color now). It's clear he's a product of the late 4th gen to 5th generation of FOIL development so he falls somewhere in early 5th gen and R&D actually having begun in the late 4th gen period. Gumbinnen Sems is really Oshen's masterpiece taedus design and his record of service with Heath proves it. Both Gumbinnen and Heath have had a rather prestigious and storied career with the I.P.I.O. (Inter-bloc Private Investigations Organization).
Gumbinnen is a top of the line Myrmidon Phoenix combat Taedus use system. He has 360 degree full visual awareness with several neural streams managing the visual data so it's not simply a confused and jumbled mess. You can see some of his additional "eyes" on his shoulder armor and the center of the torso belly section. His head also has eyes in the rear not visible. Additionally there are optics built into the sensor/interface bars located on the shoulders. These sensor bars can interface with Omnisense terminals accessing data from the Omni-network, they can break into locks and systems (kinda like a hack but not in the cyberpunk sense), and they have additional senses of smell, touch, taste, etc. These devices can be swapped out with other specialized gear.
Also unseen on the illustration Gumbinnen has two additional sub arms built into his back capable of being armed. Being a 5th gen design the various circular "caps" on the limbs are covers for connection ports he can add additional gear and weapons. the shoulder has on of these ports, in the center, with the cap off. The bar hanging from the right rear calf is an additional sensor and there's only the one equipped as pictured. Again this kind of gear can be swapped out and customized to fit the situations at hand. The extra "toes" on the back of the writs are precisely that, additional climbing gear and hand to hand weaponry. The toes have built in lighters (taser like shocking weapons) to stun other sendai if need be. Gumbinnen is shielded from lighter attacks which is another indication of how high end he really is.
Due to his wide design (this would apply to Gedai Ya'eel as well) some doors and tight spaces can be problematic for Gumbinnen to physically explore himself (standards on doors etc. do exist but Indus is so old it's impossible for everything to comply) but this is't as much of an issue as it may seem. In situations a taedus can't proceed they will always send smaller drones that are just as capable in dealing with threats. Indus always presents frustrating problems to those in law enforcement anyway so they try to find clever solutions whenever possible. As noted in the postings regarding Wallriders those in Policer work hate the damn things. This is another important reason those in law enforcement work on Indus need taedus partners, they can get to locations of crime ahead of their human partners and many do fly. Being a high end custom model Gumbinnen does, indeed, have a facsimile of an Icar drive built in, so he's capable of flight. You can see intakes for his thrusters on his torso and in the thigh armor housings.
Gumbinnen Sems and his use partner Heath Wuthering are major characters in Badan Song so we'll be seeing more of them in the future. more to come...
Original mech which is part of my advent project. A mass production mech along with Gasher [link] and Zan [link]. Since both of them feels too high tech expensive, i need something that feels cheap yet durable and reliable. If Gasher is M4 then Blunt can be said as the AK-47.
Byarlant Hybrid Model Number : RGX-165H Unit Type : Prototype Hybrid High Mobility Mobile Suits Head height : 20.3 meters Max Weight : 50,8 tons Power Source : Minovsky Ultracompact Fusion Reactor Armament : -Beam Saber x4 -Built in beam saber x2 -Mega Particle Canon -Composite Claw x2 -Feyadeen Rifle
Byarlant Hybrid is an attempt to overcome Byarlant's incapability to wield normal weaponry. Although called Byarlant, the basic frame of Byarlant Hybrid was actually derived from Jegan's frame, with major shoulder attachment derived from Byarlant’s arms. The hoping result is a high mobility mobile suit capable of atmospheric flight by its own with versatility to engage enemy with variety of weapon. However it turns out that Byarlant Hybrid has even more flaw than the original Byarlant ,as the frame isn’t strong enough to sustain high speed atmospheric flight, additionally the added extra arms are difficult to use in conjunction with normal arms, making them redundant most of the times. In the end, development of Byarlant Hybrid is abandoned to develeop the Byarlant Custom.
Gavil's follow-up to the Herzog, the Legionnär light CAV Foil used a similar set of articulated joints, but further refined & simplified to accommodate mass-production methods. It was also noticeably shorter, with a lower, broader silhouette in response to earlier criticisms about the Herzog's height. In order to meet design specifications calling for a light CAV Foil, armour protection has been markedly reduced, but this has been offset to some degree by the use of modular armour sections and attachment points to facilitate easier repair & replacement. The Legionnär was also equipped with a tougher, more heavier blade, designed for close-in cutting and stabbing work.
Depicted is the Feuerlanze, named for its left arm, which was equipped with a large flame projector. The high-pressure pump and ignition system, protected by a thick shield, was mounted on the forearm and was fed by a hose from the fuel supply housed within the heavily armoured shoulder. From the pristine condition, lack of wear and the absence of any factional insignia on its disruptive-pattern lozenge-shaped multi-spectrum camouflage, this picture was probably taken when the Feuerlanze had just emerged fresh from the manufactory.
The Feuerlanze would later gain notoriety for its pilot's tactic of engulfing and blinding an opponent at close range with its flame projector before dashing around & striking quickly from behind with its fighting blade.
A light CAV Foil design for 's Theos Ke Polemos setting, also with his editorial & conceptual input.
Again, I've been slacking off on the artwork due to unrelated stuff (haven't even been dropping by dA of late)...
Among one of the more shadowy participants in the wars on Polemos is a combat Taedus which refers to itself as ‘Leodegruz.’ Little is publicly known about this sendai, other than its preference for solo operations in mountainous terrain. Due to its heavily customized armour & chassis, its original form is completely unrecognizable, giving no clue to its original manufacturer or identity.
The prominent fin on its head actually functions as an extendable periscope with a limited degree of flexibility. Its shoulder armour conceals large, load-bearing hardpoints onto which a pair of sub-arms or other accessories can be attached. The large thighs, meanwhile, are home tol powerful thrusters and shock absorbers that enhance its mobility, enabling it to perform power-assisted leaps and jumps. It is also rumored to be equipped with emission-masking systems which make it difficult to detect with many commonly used active & passive sensors.
In addition to the ‘blood stripes’ on its arms & chestplate, Leodegruz also sports a handful of logos, apparently from custom shops that have enjoyed its patronage in the past.
This is a Sendai design for 's Theos Ke Polemos setting, and was created with his editorial & conceptual input.
The Herzog was designed by Gavil, before its incorporation with Jiendel, as a test-bed for a new type of articulated shoulder & hip joint which promised a greater range of movement. The result was a narrower, more humanoid frame with excellent limb flexibility and articulation. While technically a success, the Herzog was criticized as having too tall a silhouette, making it more easily detectable at long ranges. In addition, the curved blades meant for use with its unique shoulder scabbards were also criticized, their lack of mass and a geometry poorly-suited for performing dueling thrusts hampering its ability to penetrate the armor of other heavy FOILs. It was also rumored that its height was to blame on a string of casualties resulting from the destruction of the headcase. Nevertheless, the few examples made have enjoyed success on the battlefield. Its sloped & fluted armor have demonstrated an admirable ability to deflect hostile blows, while its power & flexibility made it the bane of any lighter, weaker FOIL that it encountered.
Depicted is the Doppelhorn, one of the few Herzogs still in existence. It has seen numerous campaigns on Polemos in the service of Germane, as evinced by its scars and well-worn, weather-stained outer coating. As worn as it is, the predominantly red coloration of the protective finish has, in practice, blended in well with the reddish soil found in many areas on Polemos. The head is heavily protected, with segmented armor plates that permit it a limited degree of movement. This does not restrict its field of vision, as the main cameras are supplemented by smaller sub-cameras positioned elsewhere on the body. It is still armed with the original curved swords, proof of Gavil craftsmanship. On the left arm is a multilayer buckler shield, used primarily for dueling, sized and shaped to provide the least encumbrance when the FOIL is wielding two swords. On the left shoulder is the motto Tod ist ein Geschenk,Death is a Gift. It should be mentioned that the Doppelhorns pilot considers himself a very generous man.
This is a Heavy CAV FOIL design for 's Theos Ke Polemos setting, and created with his editorial & conceptual input.
Hmm...been a while since my last submission; haven't had time to drop by dA of late.
When the KR-14 was first unveiled, it was also introduced with a seperate 'command model' intended to be used by squadron and battalion leaders. Aside from the upgraded balance system and thrust-vectoring systems installed in the shoulder pods, it also included a "Redesigned" head model that had color receptors. The unit also included an upgraded targeting control software system.
ASide from these updates, it was virtually identical to the A model and shared all the faults and failures of the earlier design. Even the 'improvements' over the A model were of questionable value. For one, what was the purpose of equipping vector-thrusters on what was supposed to be a basic land model? For another, the head model equipped is revealed to be a poorer, earlier model than the current spherical camera pod on the A type.
The UEPC answered that these changes were cost-juggling measures to possibly allow the C type to see action in space, but it has been pointed out that even with the thrusters, the C type is no better a unit in space than the unmodified A version. And although the unit does have color receptors, the tradeoff was resolution, and the head unit has none of the robustness of the A model.
Over time it appears that the criticism of the model sunk in, and only a limited number of C models were ever produced (numbers suggest around 120). Many were fielded in the roles they were intended, but UEPC organization largely uses other A models or another Axel type for unit and squadron command.
-------------- Sorry about posting another lazy edit of the KR-14, but this has been sitting in my files ever since the KR-14A model was first drawn. I didn't like the design as much, and the history that the unit was unpopular lingered, so here it is.
The Sunflower space colony was the first of the three to be completed, to serve and assist the construction of the other two space colonies of Project Earth. In spite of the failure of that global effort, Sunflower remained and became one of the economic hubs of the late 2400s.
As the UEPC gained prominence on the earth, some of the leaders on the Sunflower satellite began to fear that the earth would turn their military attentions to space. With no experience in constructing Axels of their own, a low-intensity project was started to create an axel design of their own to serve as one part of a space defense force. Even though Sunflower managed to ultimately become part of the UEPC, the Axel designs were completed and put on file. It remained indexed under the Sunflower manufacturing production code- SP (Self-produced) design 338. Model-A was the completed blueprints.
Over the years a few private inventors found the design and created their own models, which are broadly classified as B models. C is given to a half-hearted design to convert the unit into a construction assistance machine for the Veladus plan on Palifca (which called for the placement of huge solar pannels in an effort to export microwave energy).
The Mydeea would have remained a fantasy if the Agitators had not risen to power on Sunflower. The Magnate called for the formation of a self-defense army on the justification that Sunflower would have to protect itself from the rising global unrest already causing the UEPC problems. The Mydeea plans were revived and brought into full production.
The D model is considered the most modern version of the Mydeea and is the 'true' version. It lacks some new innovations in Axel technology within the past twenty years (ballistics jackets, gloves), but in performance trials it appears to be a balance between the land-only KR-14 series and both versions of the MN-18.
Actually found this axel in my files and decided to clean it up and finish it off.
By almost all accounts, the MN-18 design is the UEPC's first serious efforts into dealing with space warfare. It was the first real design based from the spine-up to operate in microgravity environments. Though it was poor compared to its adversaries on the moon, it was significantly better than using KR-14s, which had been designed for ground warfare and were hardly maneuverable in space.
The MN-18 has fulfilled the role of space attack axel largely to satisfaction, though glaring problems remained evident as the years went on. This wasn't to say that the MN-18 was outclassed, but it was clear that other Axels could take advantage of the MN-18's fragility and construction to defeat them. Simulated combat ratios approached equal odds when the curve of difficulty of simulated opponents was matched against equals in MN-18s. Generally, a pilot had to have three years worth of experience in an MN-18 to equal an OU-8 operated by green pilots.
Aware of this problem, an updated design of the MN-18 was conceived to answer the problems and create a better-functioning space Axel. Though some of the structural modifications are radical, it was always classified as a different model of MN-18.
With the stalemate against the moon, the 'V' version of the Ikida was put on hold. Only a pre-production run of five machines was completed as proof-of-concept vehicles, and were assigned to Space Station five.
All of this changed when the UEPC cleanup effort at Palifca turned for the disastrous. One prototype machine, piloted by an Agitator, ruined several squadrons of MN-18s and destroyed two full carriers and a frigate. Such tremendous losses of manpower and material at the hands of one machine was unacceptable. The MN-18's was immediately halted and the new V model was rushed into production. Aside from some minor modifications and tune-ups to the original plans, it is the same design conceived a decade before when the MN-18 was facing performance problems.
The V model is a relatively new machine, but handles a lot better than the MN-18 and is accepted as being a faster model. The cockpit pod has been increased, and while it makes for a bulky target, it contained additional shock protection to keep the pilot comfortable during high-speed maneuvers. Better targeting equipment through the redesigned head model (Adapted from the Bulava-B) allows pilots to use thermal imaging and color, instead of being restricted to the basic unit carried over from the KR-14.
The unit has yet to see combat. Fresh MN-18Vs have been deployed to several orbital stations, though they are mostly being distributed from Space Station Five. They have yet to see battle against the Lunar Units, though the MN-18Vs carry the same armaments as their predecessors (laser cannons, small-arms rifles, rail-guns, etx.)
(Had a sketch of this for a long while, since I thought the MN-18 was too spindly, but none of the sketches I liked. I guess that page from Yamashita's book did wonders eh?)
Another design for Gundam Dawn. Basically an HRL mobile suit inspired by the classic Zaku. The Zouka was a mobile suit in development by the Human Reform League. Standing at a relatively diminutive 15.4 meters, the Zouka was the HRL's attempt at creating a "dwarf mobile suit," better suited to city-fighting and close-in urban combat than the lumbering Tieren mobile suits usually fielded by the HRL. Only twenty were produced, all of which were stationed at the HRL's GN development complex in the Pacific. The design was nearly ready to enter mass production, but was rendered obsolete by the unexpected introduction of the GN-X.
So this is part of "Project Seabird," an original mecha universe I created in the ninth grade. Basically, it's an outlet for mecha aesthetic experimentation, and it's where I put my various exotic and experimental mecha designs. This is one of the only remotely realistic designs featured in Project Seabird. The HCF (Humanoid Combat Frame)-21b Peregrine is produced by Lockheed-Martin, and is essentially the Joint Strike Fighter of the mid-Twenty-second Century.
Be on the lookout for a few more Project Seabird designs. I assure you, they're far less believable than this one.
EDIT: I should clarify; I did not draw this in the ninth grade. I was awful at drawing giant robots in the ninth grade. I drew this on Friday.
This has been something of a pet project during the last month. The Jagd Ashanti follows the naming conventions of Gundam's other Neo Zeon mobile suits: "Geara" means it's a mass-produced model, "Jagd" designates an advanced/unique model. Also, like the Geara Zulu, it is named for an African warrior tribe, the Ashanti. It's design is influenced by both the Sazabi and Sinanju, two Neo Zeon command suits from the UC 90's.
Perhaps a rival mobile suit to my Jegan Custom ([link])?
serves in the U.S. ARMY since 2076. equip a 220mm railgun, 2 30mm gatling gun, and 2 anti-infantry missile launcher. its arms can carry different kinds of equipments like 50mm assault railgun or anti-air missile pods. they can also do accurate actions. for instance, repair another mecha's suspension system, or hold injured soliders and transport them to safe place. . . . . . acutally at first i just want to draw two mechanical arms... then a mech cames out
Shroud's pilot is Phil Besaedas, and it is a custom S grade FORTRESS class Craft, Anti-Ground Conqueror Series 12 (AGCS - 12). The purpose of FORTRESS types is to be missile mules and frontal assault fodders that take damage for units behind them. These units are the most common and most destructive of ground Crafts.
The name Shroud is given to this unit by Phil and his comrades due to Phil's protective strategies in combat, which saved the lives of many soldiers and pilots. Hence his title "The White Knight".
The extra set of limbs on this unit is detachable. Removing the limbs and attaching lighter arms on this unit transforms it into a VALKYRIE class. Attaching land cruiser leg parts and light assault attachments transforms it into a LANDSHARK class capable of high speed ground combat.
The attachment seen in this concept contains Heavy Assault Rifle with Pilum missile shoulder attachments. It travels up to 80 to 90 kph on flat terrains. It also possess back boosters and under boosters which helps propel this unit through the terrain and assist in executing sudden turns. It can detach its arm rifles and missile pods after ammo has been depleted to reduce weight. It can also detach its extra set of limbs during combat.
This unit disappeared with Phil after his last defeat in a mission to annihilate Stratus and Shadow. The wreckage of his comrades' Crafts were found but Shroud was missing. Archamel database shows that Shroud was last spotted in a raid against an Archamel friendly mercenary group, in which Shroud led the charge along with Stratus and Shadow.
Mecha with a spear... In retrospect I should've probably spent more time on the spear than the mech itself but... I hope you like it.
When I was making it, the first design had a "knight" feeling to it and I wanted to transfer that to this one (Yes I actually tried to draw it twice, the first one didn't work out the way I wanted it to)
I did have fun making it. I simply made a mech without considering physical limitations and focused purely on aesthetics and warrior-like attributes. I could say this is close to my gundam designs than my other ones, but really all my mechs look like gundams to most people anyway >.>
Unlike Stratus, I've never made a proper version of Shadow. Nari Varayana is the pilot for this Craft.
Shadow is the codename given by Nari after he acquired this Craft. This Heavy Artillery Craft Series 10 (HAC - 10), has a right arm rifle port, and the unit is built for heavy recoil and endurance, which allows it to carry missiles and a heavy artillery rifle.
After Nari acquired this Craft and was not able to sell it to an arms dealer. He later adapts this Craft as his main and replaces the previous rifle attachment on Shadow, which was damaged during the raid. The new rifle is a custom nameless attachment designed by Winston - Nari's engineer. The rifle has been known to hit targets over 21 km, and shoots standard tank shells with slight modifications.
The Shadow can replace its lower legs with land tracks and be converted into a FORTRESS class Craft. The legs and arm + rifle port can be replaced by flight capable attachments and parachutes and be converted into a VALKYRIE class Craft.
