Over the past couple of days I've posted either illustrations about controversial issues or made journal posts with potentially polarizing topics. But wonderfully, the vast majority of the responses to those have been overwhelmingly intellectual and well thought out discussions. I just wanted to thank everyone who participated in those discussions because I know how easily it all could've devolved into opinionated attacks, arguments, and "drama." It really makes me happy to see that I can put out a topic and people can discuss said topic without being a jerk about it. That's truly fantastic and I am very happy users proceeded with calm and collected responses. It's been a treat to read through them all.

Nintendo just announced this as part of their Nintendo Direct presentation, along side other titles like a Yoshi's Island sequel.
Nintendo. STOP BEING AWESOME. STOP IT!
Miyamoto said once that he wanted to remake A Link to the Past for the 3DS. Now it looks like this is the genesis of that idea. Of course being Miyamoto just a simple remake isn't good enough, it's got to include all new dungeons and gameplay mechanics while staying true to the tried and true top down gameplay. Any new handheld Zelda game that ditches the bullshit touch control system to move is a great idea in my books, but doing it with one of my absolute favorite Zelda games of all time? Nintendo, I love you.
Hypothetical question: Since this game takes place in the same universe as A Link to the Past, features locations from that game, and now that the game engine is made... couldn't they just release the remake to A Link to the Past as well? I mean, don't get me wrong as a Ni

I made another Player Vs Player map in Minecraft. The map is called "TRADERS" and it utilizes the Testificate trading system to achieve cool weapons.
The goal is simple. When you begin the game, two teams are simultaneously dropped into opposite worlds. Both worlds are a mirror version of each other, so no one has an advantage or disadvantage. The two teams will have 15 minutes to dig, collect, trade, enchant, and equip, before the sand doors connecting the worlds come tumbling down.
You can dig for iron to make weapons and gear... but there is no Diamond or Gold located anywhere on the map. If you want diamond weapons and gear (or enchantment potions or quick tools), you need to trade with the Testificates.
Scattered across the landscape are treasure chests, each containing emeralds. Collect these emeralds and use them to purchase good weapons and gear from the Testificate traders.
When the door comes down...
Controversial OpinionsYou know, sometimes having opinions can make you feel like no one else shares your views, especially if your views aren't being widely vocalized around you. Case in point: It's just been announced that J.J.Abrams will be directing Star Wars 7, and the internet is raging with butthurt about how shitty Abrams is, making over abundant lens flare jokes, and bemoaning the reboot of Star Trek in the process.Controversial Opinions in Personal More Like This
Thing is... I like J.J.Abrams. I liked LOST (despite it's shitty/rushed ending). I liked Super 8. I liked Cloverfield. I even enjoyed the recent Star Trek reboot and am looking forward to the sequel. I never had a problem with lens flares or noticed them being over used. And I think overall Abrams has made a fairly consistent batch of quality movies, which is a amazing considering how many directors flip flop between great and shitty.
But I can't often come right out and say that sort of thing because when I do I get attacked for having an opinion that runs counter to the vast majority o

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.The Used Game Paradigm in Personal More Like This
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

To my credit, I had a little help before starting the game by using a seed which spawned me in the middle of a NPC village, thus giving me shelter and resources to survive my first few treacherous nights. But after a few days had passed and I got used to the controls and crafting, I ventured out and built my own little hut and started digging away.
The first few nights were exceptionally scary, even though I was in a nice safe house. But gradually I learned that Creepers are less creepy to me now than they are simply annoying, and I find myself being more creeped out by those ominous Ender Men.
After digging a very inefficient hole near my house and gather up more resources (cobblestone) than I could handle, I decided to venture out and build a bi
The Hobbit: An Unexpected JourneySaw The Hobbit last night. It was very good... if a bit long. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for seeing all the little details interconnecting The Hobbit to Lord of the Rings and all that, but for the average watcher... eh... it kinda dragged. I overheard several people saying they fell asleep during the film, and I noticed more than once a number of people fidgeting and looking at their watches. Still, it's a damn fine movie and It's a shame we have to wait so long for the next two films. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Personal More Like This
Having The Hobbit being written during the beginning of Lord of the Rings is pretty smart. You could effectively watch the 3 Hobbit movies and then immediately move right into the 3 Lord of the Rings movies. Kudos to Jackson for that, it'll be great to marathon run the two trilogies back to back.

I’ve already mentioned that I enjoyed Noah in a previous journal, but after talking with friends and family and reading reviews online I feel inclined to bring it up again. See, Noah is under a HUGE assault like no other movie in recent years has been. On one side Christians are lambasting it for deviating too much from the sanitized version of Noah’s Ark they’re familiar with and “removing god” from the storyline (I’ll get back to why that’s ridiculous in a minute), while atheists are lambasting it as more of the same “Christianity propaganda” they’ve worked so hard to avoid. The bottom line being that BOTH sides are refusing to see the movie due to their ideological beliefs.
And that’s just sad.
Noah is not a perfect film, but it’s still one that I think everyone should watch, both religious and non. Noah is, at it’s core, an interpretation of the classic story by an amazing film mak

A new movie, while only mildly stirring contreversy here in the USA, is causing quite an uproar in England. Anonymous is a big budget Molotov cocktail of a cultural provocation hurled by the producer-director of Godzilla and 2012, Roland Emmerich. He brings the same subtle and nuanced touch he exercised in those films to his latest film, in which he takes up the scorchingly contentious (if little known outside college literature departments) debate ongoing between the “Stratfordians” (those who believe the Shakespeare plays were written by the late-16th Century actor named Shakespeare) and the “Oxfordians” (those who believe the Shakespeare plays were written by Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford

Wonder what kind of copyright laws they'll be trying to introduce then.

The spell system is really fun. Like really fun. Basically, you get 8 elements to mix together, and then 4 ways of casting magic (on yourself, enchanting your sword, in front of you, and all around you.).
For example: Earth gets you an earth-ball projectile. Earth + Barrier gives you a wall of rocks in front of you. Earth + Barrier + Fire gives you a wall of mini volcanoes. Earth + Barrier + Fire + Healing gives you a wall of mini volcanoes that heal you when destroyed. Awesome!
I didn't actually finish the first level until I spent over an hour trying out different spells, and killing harmless NPCs. There's like hundreds of different combinations.

Pretty mean, but don't misunderstand. I am not using this term to describe anyone but myself. Self taught artists abound and flourish in careers everywhere.
