The Beauty WithinThe Beauty Within in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
True beauty radiates
From deep within
Never trust only the appearance
Of those you meet,
For people who are beautiful on the outside
Are inside often corrupt
And those who may have flaws without
Are so often filled with love
So do not look upon me
And only see the color of my skin
The few pounds extra that do not seem
To want to wither away
Look and see the melody
That shines from within
Listen to the stories, hear the sweet harmony
And forever be my friend.
Betterment for HumanityBetterment for Humanity in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Betterment? I believe humanity may never be as such
Eternally we circle around each other
Livid spirits filled with hatred
In discord since time began
Even until the ends of the earth our empathy turned
Vile, forever and ever filled with detestation
Everlasting in our bitterness of war and domination
I do believe there is more we can do
Man has failed to see
All the wonder and peace that hides within
Gayas folded trees, hidden
In her forests, shimmering hopes
Non- restraint over and over into the
Eternal fields of sunshine
Purposely the sun rises each day, shining her loves rays over the
Earth, but who can speak of the beauty the sun gave us today?
Anyone out there? Does anyone listen to the soft
Call of the earth any longer? Or are we too
Egotistical to stop and listen
Light the candle, be the glimmer of hope in the darkness

She paced back and forth on the front porch
Looking out into the rains gale
It seemed like the weather portrayed her heart
She was so angry yesterday so marred
She had a blameworthy feeling as her lips
Poured out how much she hated him.
Her heart bawled for her mouth to stop
But through her bitter tears
She screamed at him, how much better her life would be
If he left.
He looked to hurt, but then out of his mouth
Poured just as angry words back to her
He called her a selfish bitch, even threw his hat at her.
He drove past their house again and again
Slowing down only at a distance away,
Peering to see if she was even home.
He knew she would be better off without him
She didnt need him but he loved her
He picked up his cell phone, but threw it down
Breaking it against the dashboard.
She slammed the door, he drove off
Stubborn psyches were the loosers.
While the bridge was burned,
In the ashes
Another love was lost
To foolish pride.

Dont look back, you life before you
Remember my songs, my stories, my word
They are my legacy to you, my prayers for your
Own story with many pages bare
For you to bard
Forgive and forget me, my immortality remains
Forever frozen in black and white
Upon the words that I write
With every song
My voice strains
There comes a time we must
Move on, pressing ever forward through all the pain
Love, peace and hope
I leave and wish you many
Years not in vain
Weep not one single tear
Sing not the bitter refrains
Be free from the tyranny of life
One more step

Some people can find cleanliness-
in the sensitivity of a twisted weeping willow
Where others see only desolation.
Some people can love the thorn-
of the fairest rose,
Where others find abhorrence and spite.
But all I see are subtle shades of gray.
For many, their life is scribbled
in harsh lines of white and black.
So straightforward and lucid.
Yet so plain no shape, no color
dares to lighten their lives.
No twisted oak or rose blooms intense.
Yet all I see are subtle shades of gray.
There is no black, no white
no stark line drawn upon the ground.
No goodness, no evil, only hope.
I find no hate, no love, nor perfect kiss
in my adaptation of the earth.
All I see is maybes, and the prospective of tomorrow.
For all I see are subtle shades of gray.
Life has no faultlessness-
but no blemish as well.
As I live in unrestrained shades of gray.

Sniper stood watch, just outside the old travel agency building. Aside from somehow withstanding the rest of the block collapsing around it, the shop was impressive for having reasonably preserved brochures. Captain and Pilot would often amuse themselves by planning trips to countries that no longer existed, and Engineer would gather what they discarded for kindling. Whenever Sniper grew sufficiently bored, he'd call out with something he thought was witty.
It was a bit like that, being on watch; you'd either say something funny and die knowing your sense of humour was too good for this world, or you'd say nothing and die without validating your ego.
"Actually," Engineer spoke up from the Visit Asia section, a finger tracing over dusty advertisements as he moved along the aisle, "One of the last GOOD directorate broadcasts sent out was a list of anomalies brought on by the apocalypse, and apparently Chernobyl became the least radiated pla

Of a jester most mad and a murderer pale
Loyalist children of the darkest of sects
Silence and laughter in equal respects
Both slaves to a mother's self-serving demands
Vainly seeking comfort at a dead woman's hands
Sequestered away with her from the din
A tempest without and the silence within
One sought the path of madness and delight
Filling the dark with a crazed laughter's light
Taking the guise of a victim long gone
Pouring his murderous rage into song
The other took comfort embracing the pain
Defeating the monster by taking its name
Forever forbidden from death's sweet relief
Her sole satisfaction in sharing the grief
Now the cruel children dance hand in hand
Two greatest killers of a murderous band
Wandering together, dead grip in glove
Finally granted a lost mother's love
So if a dark shadow slinks in the night
A black dagger reflects the fire's dim light
If laughter and arrows shriek in the wind

There was no rule about looking at them though, so long as you didn't get to close. Sometimes while Astrid was busy he would stare at the maps, trying to figure out what she was planning. There were times when he thought he had cracked her confusing little system of markers and diagrams, to the point where he thought he had figured out her scheme altogether, only to find out later he was entirely wrong. More often he suspected Astrid kept the real plans in her head and simply made up all the nonsense she left on her desk just to confuse others. Knowing his wife, he was probably right.

After all those years of loneliness, praying for the sound of any other voice besides his own, he was in a Sanctuary full of Brothers and Sisters and most of them could barely stand to be in the same room as him. A very bad joke to play on poor Cicero, he thought, sitting at his table, face propped up on his fist. Festus came to visit him every now and again and Babette would check on him from time to time. He stood silently in the doorway, watching with a faint smile as Astrid sat at her desk, flipping through her papers with a palpable frustration. She tapped her fingers on the desk irritably as she reread notes and letters that Cicero knew, from his snooping, had been written months ago. She would huff and sigh as she looked at every new scrap of parchment, tossing the old ones aside with a scowl of dissatisfaction. Whatever was eating at her had her so consumed that she hadn't even noticed him standing there motionless for the last five minutes. Cicero may have been a fool, but he was not foolish, and he knew very well why Astrid spent her nights with her silly papers instead of in bed with her oaf of a husband.
Astrid was worried. And Cicero was enjoying it.

She had always known that if she had reported Grelod's treatment of the children, the Jarl would of course have had the old woman thrown out on the street. The children would be better off for it, but Grelod was old, and had spent her life working at Honorhall. She didn't know of any other way to care for herself. One, Sin was lying and pretending to be the Listener to undermine Astrid's authority and Cicero was simply playing along. The girl could barely stand having a conversation with most of the Family and Astrid could hardly imagine her wanting to lead them. Two, Sin had gone as mad as Cicero and Mother's voice in her head was just one of Sheogorath's whimsies. But then how would she know that phrase to signal to Cicero she was truly the Listener. She might have found it in his Keeping Tomes, assuming he had them with him, which by all logic he should. Assassins weren't exactly the sanest of folk, and Sin did have those wild eyes. That was to say, he was sat in front of a blank canvas with a paintbrush and a rather grim frown. After the agonisingly awkward gathering last night, a whole evening spent trying to keep an eye on Ocato while also avoiding any lingering gazes, he had some serious unwinding to do. So far, the effort wasn't working.
He wasn't used to being stressed. The Fighters Guild took care of that: beating the snot out of goblins and trolls did wonders for relieving aggression, being paid was just an added bonus. But there were no Guild jobs here, no people to spar with, no creatures waiting just outside the city walls to start a fight with... all he had was the decidedly less manly hobby of painting as an outlet to his frustrations. As if his masculinity wasn't questionable enough already.
He'd spent all of the gathering thinking about it. He'd then spent all night thinking about it as he'd tossed and turned and tried so hard to get to sleep.

Modryn walked into the room after him, although perhaps 'mooched' would have been a better word. He was not a man who often indulged in feeling sorry for himself, but in the circumstances he felt it was appropriate. Well-earned, even.
He had assumed Ocato wouldn't notice his somewhat sulky behaviour, but- "Are you alright? You were quiet all the way up the stairs." Of course. That man didn't miss a thing.
"M'fine. Just figured you'd want a bit of peace and quiet after all that."
A lie, albeit a white one. Ocato probably knew it, but was evidently too tired to pry, instead answering with, "You have that right. Five days... ah, my cheeks hurt from forcing all those smil

The Legion Centurion in command of the Palace Guard was charged with dereliction of duty. Although the Council has officially denied the stories of a palace break-in, the rumours persist. Muddled accounts of the events and principles range from a madman intent on spit-polishing the Emperor's shoes to a master thief stealing one of the legendary Elder Scrolls-
Thwack. The latest copy of the Black Horse Courier hit the table so hard that everyone in the room flinched. And stood behind that table, with an expression that suggested he might take up genocide as a hobby, was a very, very unhappy High Chancellor.
"Who," he hissed so dangerously that a few people shuffled back in fear, "Told them?"
Silence was his answer. A crowd of uneasy faces stared back at him: guards, messengers, maids, scholars. All people who had been present on that night, all people who knew what had actually taken place the event he'd

The palace was especially busy this afternoon, and despite his best efforts, Aluin hadn't been able to locate an empty room in which to talk to Marseius whatever the Imperial had to say couldn't wait until tomorrow, or so he claimed. In the end, the only place he could find where they wouldn't be overheard was a small broom cupboard filled with, for some odd reason, painting supplies. Of course, there was a certain irony to be found in two men hiding in a closet to discuss how to thwart homosexuality. As both participants were of a rather serious nature, however, they failed to see the funny side of it.
"You wished to talk?" Aluin inquired delicately. This translated to make it quick. An Altmer had no business being in a dusty broom cupboard, after all.
"About Olivier. I had someone follow him, like you said," Marseius told him, mouth set in a thin, grim line, "He went down to the Waterfront last night. Didn't talk to anyone working on the s

"Mysticism, Alchemy and Destruction," Modryn wondered out loud. As the only one guarding Ocato's chambers, he didn't have to worry about being overheard; evidently the Altmer had insisted against more guards up here, despite the recent infiltration. "What does that say about him? 'And enough Restoration' to get by...what did he mean?"
Whatever other musings he may have had were brought to a halt when the main door creaked open, and in walked a particularly tired-looking High Chancellor. Of course, Ocato always looked tired, or at least in Modryn's opinion, but even by usual standards, it appeared to have been a long day.
"Oreyn," he greeted shortly, inclining his head a touch wearily as he passed the warrior, and into his chambers. And Modryn might have left it at that, but something compelled him to converse; they'd barely exchanged words since the start of his employment roughly one week ago. Granted, he wasn't renowned for being talkative, and h

Ocato blinked; "Now?"
"Why not?" Modryn shrugged, "It's a nice day outside, not too busy. I'll fend off any journalists we meet."
"But... I have paperwork-"
"Oh, someone spilt ink all over it. The scribes are re-writing it as we speak; they won't be done for a while."
"-And a briefing with the Minister for Health and Safety-"
"He tripped and fell into a wall. Broke his nose. I saw the whole thing, tragic stuff."
"-And the woman from the Office of Commerce wanted to talk to me-"
"She woke up with her face painted bright red er, so I've heard. I imagine she's still trying to scrub it off. So that leaves you about... two hours free."
"How marvellously convenient," Ocato remarked dryly, "And I don't suppose you had anything to do with this string of coincidences, did you?"
"Absolutely not. And since each event was completely and definitely a coincidence, there's no string to attach them to each other."

Ocato had attended two more gatherings by the time Carmine had everything needed for The Plan. He and the others were hidden away in the empty dormitories of the Moth Priest Quarters, located one floor below Ocato's rooms. Carmine paced up and down the room with a look of grim determination, every bit as militant as Marseius.
"Right. Ocato and his guard are still downstairs, his room should be empty. Do we have everything sweetroll appetiser?"
Ra'Jani held up the plate, "Check."
"Which will make him thirsty enough to drink do we have the spiked wine?"
Olivier timidly produced the bottle; "Check."

"What's taking him so long?" Carmine muttered, tapping his fingers impatiently against the table, "I know Orcs show up whenever they want to show up, but this is important. The open session is tomorrow and we need to sort out what we're going to say."
Olivier Régis sat opposite him, fidgeting with the frill on his cuff; "Do you... do you really think the public will want it legalised?"
"If the Imperial City contained nothing but Imperials, I'd say no. But since there's a mix of races and cultures here, we stand a good chance of success. Even so..." he pulled a small notebook from within his coat, "We'll need a persuasive argument. Gods know Aluin will have a speech prepared."

Carmine grimaced at the mention of the man, "He's the most strongly opposed, but not the greatest threat. Sure, he can rage incoherently about homosexuality, but Aluin can translate that into something people will actually listen

The last time he'd been at Green Emperor Way, it had been quiet. Peaceful.
Of course, last time there hadn't been a group of protesters outside the palace.
Perhaps Kurz had been right about those future assassination attempts. He'd read about the protests: now that the honeymoon period of 'thank-gods-we-survived' was over, people had realised they were an Empire without an Emperor, and lashed out at the Elder Council's decision to assume control. More, Modryn felt, because they needed someone to blame than anything else, and the likes of Ocato conveniently filled that position. He didn't envy the man.
Pushing his way through the group if he edged sideways, the sharpness of his iron shoulder-guards did most of the work he finally reached the front, to where the Palace guards were cautiously keeping the crowd at bay. He showed them his interview slip, received a nod of approval, and was allowed inside.

And thought it a curse
Set upon he and his wife

Loathe to give up her first born

Ran from home and husband
Clinging desperately to her glaring child,
A child of the name Lillian
The woman fled with Lillian
Deep into the woods
Feet pounding for hours
Bruised and cut,
But arms clung tight
To her precious babe
Until she found herself in a clearing,
The moon shining with such brilliance
That it must surely be of a world beyond
Babe clutched to her breast,
The woman approached the center of the clearing

Skye finally reached the street that his high school was located. Having run the whole way there, Skye tried to catch his breath. As he stood there with his hands on his knees, he stared at the school building. It was completely silent since it was the weekend. Since Skye lives in a small town located right near the beach, the high school was small as well. He finally caught his breath and cursed at himself for resting. He then approached the school and walked right in, not having to climb a fence or anything like that.
Skye didn't have to worry much about security. The school was never tagged by graffiti, for there were usually never any gangs in small coastal towns like this. If anything, he would have to worry about running into a teacher, janitor, or someone working in the offices.
Once he reached the door to the main office, he tried the door, and it was locked.

Finally, in a voice no higher than a whisper, the dark thief lowered his gaze. It returned again, and the wild embers of that right eye began to bore deeply into

"No, no and NO!" Garrett barked, slamming his fist down onto the table. He wasn't usually a violent individual, and this was his first time expressing physical anger for quiet some time. He had good reason for it. What was Basso thinking?! The thief had always made it very clear that he worked alone, yet over the past few years, Basso had gotten the crazy idea into his head that Garrett needed a partner. With things only growing worse within the city, more and more rogues had found themselves in the shady man's services, and quite often, the seasoned Garrett was requested to team up with them in order to take in bigger, and more risky hauls. It was becoming more than a slight annoyance at this point. Garrett was more than capable of flying solo. He always had been.
"C'mon Garrett! For old time's sake!" The thief whirled around, his bi-colored eyes flashing in silent ferocity.
"I said no." He replied, very calmly. Basso exhaled a deep sigh, and spat a wad of chew into a nearby crate.

Garrett stood. His feet made the floorboards of the clock tower squeak slightly under his weight as he walked over to the open window. The moon was bright that evening, although the city smog had snuffed out the delicate stars. The thief was even more silent than the expanse of sky before him. His eyes flashed in the secluded darkness of his domain. That kid. There was something...off about her. Why would a noble give up their standing; to do what he did? If it hadn't been for the Keepers, he had his doubts as to whether or not he would have even survived. Garrett ran his hands over the heat of the fire pit, trying his best to wait out the hours. Gwenevere was with him now, and she sat on the opposite side of the small room, eagerly waiting for him to speak to her. Garrett's eyes grew dark. The girl could wait all she wanted; he wasn't about to acknowledge her presence. He was doing what he'd agreed to do, what he'd been paid to do. Nothing more.
"Garrett?" Gwenevere finally broke the silence. The thief did not respond. "Garrett!" The young woman tried again. This time, Garrett answered her with an annoyed grunt. Gwenevere tried again.
"What?!" He snarled, his eyes ablaze. Cowering meekly at his sudden outburst, Gwenevere spoke.
"So, how long have you been doing this sort of thing?"
"What? Housing ignorant little rich kids? This would be a first." He sneered.
"Oh come on. Don't be like that! You knew what I meant!" She encouraged.
"And what if I don't?"
"Okay then, fine." Gwenevere rolled her eyes. "How long

As the hours waned on, Garrett remained restless. He wasn't accustomed to sleeping in the evenings anymore. The night was his; to plunder his riches, and race along the rooftops. It had always been so, for as long as the aging thief could remember...
A young boy sat hunched over against the cold city wall. He was no stranger to suffering; hunger, fear, and discomfort were all he had ever known. His body shivered as he felt the icy rain pelt through his ragged clothing, igniting a fire within his fresh wounds. The boy clenched his shoulder in agony, grinding his teeth. The sudden pressure caused the injury to reopen slightly, prompting him to moan as a fresh stream of dark crimson erupted from his palm.
"Those damned Hammers..." The youth cursed. Why did they have to be so harsh with him? Couldn't they see that he was dying of starvation? Didn't they even care that a child's blood could have been on their han
