Another redesign 2D concept for the Human Battleship from the MMORTS game Novus Aeterno.
This ship has gone through more redesigns than any other Human ship in the game but finally this design was decided upon.
The side on concept was done by our creative director, I was tasked with doing the 3D view which is now being modelled for ingame use.

This chunky looking thing was originally dubbed the "Bunker" and was also originally a smaller class of ship but having since dropped its class from the game we decided to resurrect the design for use as a larger Capital ship.
The ship is very heavily armoured and is meant as a closer quarters support vessel, it has tons of point defences and abilities that uses agro to force enemy ships to engage it rather than other ships in the fleet, its a tank and can take a lot of punishment. Its weapon systems aren't very powerful and mostly consist of point defences to counter fighters and bombers.
It primary function is to act as a buffer between the enemies fleet and your own soaking up vast amounts of damage that would otherwise cripple lesser ships

Also here is the latest alpha gameplay footage form the game where you can see another Capital ship (the Basilisk) being used, the model is old and is currently undergoing a re-modelling. [link]

This rather fat looking thing is the Hulk, the Survivor faction skin for the Laminar class Human Capitol ship. They are jury rigging experts and despite the ships rather wrecked appearance its easily as effective as the default version, thanks to some creative welding the ship has more than enough armour to protect it from the barrage of enemy fire the ship was designed to take, its a tank designed to sit in the middle of a fight and use agro to force enemy ships to engage it rather than other weaker ships in the fleet.

The Scythe fast corvette is a deep-space capable attack ship designed for planetary system patrol. Fast and agile, it packs an impressive punch with two raptor guns in single mounts and two double raptor and single lancer guns in composite mounts on either side of the hull. It also carries 24 disruptor missiles fired through four missile tubes in the nose and two in the stern. Crewed by 8 to 12 sailors, it is also equipped with an extensive array of planetary and orbital sensors.

Most Scythes are employed on the Rim in service of corporate navies, although some, inevitably, have fallen into pirate and marauder hands.

The Scimitar is a medium range attack fighter usually carried by assault carriers and was designed to be formidable both as a dogfighter and against capital targets.

Although it carries only a single pilot, its IP (inter-planetary) catapult allows it to cover vast distances within a solar environment quickly, allowing it to reach trouble spots or threats within hours, engage the enemy and return without the need for crew relief facilities.

The Scimitar's weaponry is finely balanced between an anti-fighter tac gun array and cap and ram weapons for use against larger targets. It also carries seeker launchers that can fire a wide range of homing ordnance.

Originally developed by OmniCorp for the Imperium and its own navies, the Scimitar has proven itself on numerous occasions, most notably in the First Banking War.

The Vulcan class colony ship was developed to carry entire human colonies through the skein and deposit them, along with their orbital habitat, in systems to be colonised. Able to carry about 100 000 people and all of their equipment, these vessels were huge and were the work horses of the corporate colonisation effort. In fact, it was estimated that almost 30 billion colonists were moved from the core system to the colonies using the Vulcan class over a 60 year period.

Colony ships carried no offensive weapons to speak of, although they were equipped with self-defence guns and carried several frigates and fighter wings that equipped the colonial militia.

Another livestream semi-speed paint. Tried out the flagship again, not perfect yet, I'll have to 3D model it to get it right. Should I spend another sitting on this to get a fleet in there?

The command flagship for the Protectorate fleet.
-It's dual hull design aids in redundancy should it ever be found in heavy fighting. The lower hull is largely filled out by a massive staging hangar for defensive ships and a sizable ground force.
The upper hull houses the majority of the crew, who's accommodations are considered lavish for a space vessel, this for the large number of officers often on board.
-The ship is also equipped with extensive processing and maintenance facilities, it can support it's crew and provide extensive repair capabilities for local forces when planet based facilities are not available.
-4 main rail guns along it's 2 noses are it's main anti warship armament. These can fire a variety of munitions, guided or not, at firing rates up to high enough that more than one round can be moving down a rail at once, if needed.
-Warships all carry a common tech shielding that disperses energy weapons, this is why most ships use projectile weapons. Should an enemy ships shielding be disrupted, this flagship contains a laser generation system. 2 focusing turrets, one top and bottom, can fire on vulnerable ships to quickly destroy them.
-12 massive turrets each with 2 guns play a pivotal role in laying down spread fire on distant or closing ships, this ensures a much higher hit probability against evasion maneuvering.
-Numerous point defenses guard against small ships and fighters, some medium sized defense weapons can also join in the spread fire patterns against targets.
-Due to it's massive size, it is unable to make effective evasive maneuvers against enemy fire except in very long range engagement from glancing shots. Thanks to the Elemental program however, along with basic energy weapon shielding, this ship also uses forcive shields to deflect projectile weapons when possible. It's onboard ground forces will often include a number of Elementals which can join in on defensive actions.
-For all it's abilities as a warship, such a large investment in a single ship would lead it to be a prime target in war, so it largely spends it's time in friendly territory making use of it's command and combat staging power.

A quick piece to mess around with one night. Working on ship design is pretty laid back for me, though maybe that leads to some bland design.

As I checked to make sure I got my port/starboard right I learned that I put the bridge on the non standard side, oh well :D
The majority of the ships weapons are mounted on the bow including massive spinal rail guns. Central areas hold military crew and any forces to be launched, from fighters and bombers to ground forces. Engines stern of course.

Another quick paint between commissions to keep me sane, I think I'm getting down a nice balance.

Here's the Star Protectorate flagship with an escort fleet. It is the most powerful ship on it's side of known space. Rarely deployed into battle, it stands watch over the protectorate, a deterrent to any invasion.

Jump shuttles were once common, but were eclipsed by newer, lighter hulls and the dropping price of He3. Remaining examples have mostly been converted to more conventional layouts. The few that remain as built ply their trade in the shadows of Saturn and her moons.

The basic concept is simple, if a little unusual. The main ship can be configured to carry a dozen passengers, two tons of cargo, or some mix of the two. The jump shuttle doesn't enter any significant gravity wells, but rather offloads what fraction of travelers and materiel is required onto a small launch secured below the hull.

With the Acadian Queen complex coming online late in the last century, the commodification of fusion power had become total. This combined with improved materials technology made the type obsolete, and complexity yielded to simplicity once again.

The type was never robust or capacious enough for smuggling, so the remaining examples are mostly operated in either ferry or tourist service by the smaller carriers. Here we see the 'Witch's Promise', a particularly early example of the type, making a holiday run to the Cassini Astoria and associated botanical gardens.

Empress Jamyl's Personal Cruiser

She's an elegant and luxurious craft used as Jamyl Sarum's personal ship. With four medium laser turrets her armament is not the strongest, but enough to defend herself. Besides, her armor resistances are highly classified, and so is the number of Guardian class logistic ships standing by to aid her at any moment.

This is my formal submission to the contest, following the contest rules of 6 line views + 1 rendered view.
