Women laying out the silk
The smoke curling over the houses
Men setting up the city's walls
This was all so long ago...
Now when I walk by that place
There are no more silk robes
The houses have gone away
Streets are left with silence
The walls have all been torn down
A few tears gather in my eyes
My heart feels deep melancholy
Looks like we've lost the days of old
Nothing is left as the blossoms drift
The winds scatter each memory
Make the past fade away forever
Make it all nothing but old poetry

The heart breaks
I used to be so strong...
It will take a long time...
To be what I once was again....
Watching the sun tumble from the sky
The starlight claiming an empty world above
I begin to feel the emotions deep within stir
Twisting around my soul like a pair of dark hands
Holding my heart and taking it away as I weep
The nightmare continues for many hours
Keeps on stealing a little part of me each time
Though I know that every scary night will end
Will be banished by a good dream soon enough
So for the sake of that hope which always burns

Left without your familiar voice for so long
The soul can only collect sorrowful feelings deep within
Standing over the lake as starlight begins to advent
I look to the moon moaning out a whisper
And hope that we at least share the same sky

May not be everything that you had wanted
Though I still try everyday as much as I can

Too many buffalo left missing from the plain
Too many rivers running darker and darker
Too many stories forgotten by the young
Too many songs not sung in the night
Too many people hating other people
Too many words spoken without kindness
Too many things dividing human beings

A soul seeks it's destiny even in approaching death
For the heart only wishes to know the right path
In the silence flames burn a land to ash
In the grief a man watches tears gather
It is among such pain that warriors rise
And take a stand no matter the chaos
For this one his spirit holds great courage
Great strength that will shine in the darkness
Hoping to protect those who need him
Wishing to stay free from the white man's grip
He fights many battles upon the grassy hills
Never letting his face show any shame

It was when the sun first set beyond the plain
When the stars began to shine in the shadowy night
That our spirits chose this land to be our home
Chose the ways which we hold so dear
For many years we have wandered this place
Learning of the greatness Mother Earth gives
As time passed it couldn't be denied
Couldn't be ignored by the one above
We became tied so closely to this world
Became a part of the wind and dreams
