VOLUME INDICATOR | Built for geektool

Photoshop KungFu by *Allucard9
Coding mumbo jumbo by ~palobo

Details
This is a simple script that updates a series of beautifully crafted images to reflect the current volume level.

The script has been optimized as much as possible so as to cause little to no impact on system performance. Nonetheless there is always room for improvement so if you spot a bug or improve on the script please let us know.

Other than that... Enjoy. We had fun making it for you all!

Cheers!

Update v1.1
- Script now uses geeklet names rather than IDs making initial setup easier;
- There is now a landscape and portrait version.
- Script now accommodates for other images (Read instructions)
- Updated instructions making them clearer and fixing some errors report by users. Thanks ;)
- Now with a Quickstart Guide ;)
Please let me know if you have any troubles with this update

FAQ
The script isn't working. What's wrong?
- Make sure you have a refresh rate set.
- If your path has spaces then enclose it in quotes.

How can I troubleshoot errors?
Open the script in applescript editor, change the volume and click on run. Usually the error is simple but if you have trouble the note me and I'll do my best to help

Note
People, the graphics here belong to Allucard9 so if you wan't to use them in your projects then you need to ask him for permission, however the applescript that puts it all together is GPL so you can use it with your own graphics ;);)

All I ask is maybe mention or let me know if and how you used my script. I'd love to see it!

Mountain Lion Fix

Mountain Lion change the Volume Output integers ever so slightly so in order for this to function correctly in ML you will have to rename the foreground images accordingly. Here's the list to help you out

UPDATE - Lion Fix
To all those who are having troubles getting this working under Lion ~Sam-Pa has figured out a solution. My thanks to him. Once I have time I will update the instructions and original script in the download with this information

  • This has been tested with Lion and geekool from AppStore

  • If you are not able to open the .glet files check here: [link]
    To Summarize:

You have to get GeekTool Helper out of the package, copy it to the Applications folder, change the Open With on all .glet files to that, then delete the GeekTool Helper app from Applications again.

  • ~Sam-Pa's revised and corrected version of the script can be found here: [link]

Known Issues

  • Every time GeekTool runs the AppleScript via osascript, both the .scpt and .plist file gets written to, regardless whether the volume has changed or not.

Once again, Props to those who helped and contributed towards VolumeBar Indicator

My KDE meets elementary

Here's my feeble attempt to reproduce Dan Rabbit's excellent Elementary look. (Which I'm a huge fan of and miss ever since switching to KDE).

This is strictly qtcurve, nothing else.

Please comment, critique and let me know where I can improve.

Credits (Dually deserved)
Main Inspiration:

- Elementary GTK

P.S.: I'm not much of a designer and therefore have some dificulty with color. I'm sure it's not 100% right so if you can help in that respect, great. I'd appreciate it.

*I no longer use or will provide support for this neat little geeklet. Yahoo.com has changed some of the coding on their site that have messed with the way the script in this geeklet works and I don't know how to fix it.*

This is a step-by-step guide showing you how to display custom weather images using geektool on OS X

This is a GeekTool analog clock for your mac desktop. I have tested this over and over and am now finally able to release it.
The zip comes with everything you need.

You can see it in action here [link]
That being said, i know 50% of you will have problems with this, whether your new to geektool & just need help OR if it's not working at all newb or not, it's just inevitable.
I am not a coding master, far from it actually. The script credit and idea behind it goes entirely to ~Chingizm and his 'MardWatch' creation [link] so a big thank you to him for creating this in the first place.

Therefore, if you have trouble please do not hesitate to email me at kt.long@me.com or just send me a note.
I will more than likely come out with updates from time to time, so if you download this make sure to add it in your favorites so you can easily check back for any possible updates or fixes.

****Also, if you just so happen to be a coding master :) and have an any suggestions/fixes or possibly an easier solution for this, PLEASE let me know.
Hope you guys enjoy, thanks.

*UPDATE* 01.01.2013: Here is a fully functional update and was tested on an OS X 10.8.2 (ML).

New instructions and an updated script file will be located in the updated download file -- if you are having trouble with the geeklet, make sure you first trash the old circle_volumeindicator folder, then SECURELY empty the trash and download this updated version.
Thank you so much for everyones patience and so sorry for taking so long.

**I can not guarantee this geeklet works for other versions of OS X**

go here for a 'How To Video' by yours truly, :penguin: [link].

this is an update to the circle volume indicator found here [link].

after recieving many requests for a multicolored version as well as the PSD file, so here you go :).
if you are familiar with photoshop you should easily be able to figure out the method of my madness, but those who do not just send me a note.
for those of you that have already downloaded my original release you can simply use this zip as an add-on, simply add the folder "Images_Multi" to the original folder you downloaded from the first release.
oh and place the PSD where ever you prefer.

those of you that are downloading this for the first time, everything you need is in zip download. if you follow the instructions precisely you will have no problems.
again, if you have trouble or need help with something, just send me a note and i will do what i can.

thanks!

if you are having trouble getting it to run correctly try downloading this alternate script [link] , graciously provided by ~Sam-Pa.
