Final Dream of a Filly Ch. 3The funeral was a modest affair. The town gathered up a collection and the mortician was even kind enough to donate a simple black coffin for the sake of holding her. It almost didn't seem real as Scootaloo stared down into the open casket and examined the tiny bundle within. They had done a good job, she admitted. She still only looked asleep, a small smile permanently hovering on her face from her final dream. Scootaloo turned away and cast her gaze to the sky, a sigh causing her to shudder. The weather team hadn't been able to clear the skies. Why, she didn't know, but the day was somber in its muted gray sky that occasionally rumbled with the softest rumbles of thunder.
"It's time, Scootaloo we should take our places." It was the mare who spoke, beckoning the filly away from the casket to stand beside it instead. She had positioned them to watch the approaching procession of friends and loved ones that heavily trod to the filly's final resting place. Upon seeing Applebloom and
Final Dreams of a Filly Ch. 2Scootaloo stared down at herself silently. Regret flooded her as thoroughly as the tears that slid down her face. "There was so much I was gonna do I never found my special talent in life and earned my cutie mark I never thought it would end like this. Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and I were all going to do it together. This is a nightmare " The thought quieted her. This was a nightmare and that was all that it could be. She rounded on the mare, eyes narrowed. "This is messed up, ya know that?! What gives you the right?! Why?!"Final Dreams of a Filly Ch. 2 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
It had been countless centuries of the same question. The mare closed her eyes and thought for a moment, wondering how she still never quite had a good answer. After a moment her eyes opened and extended one of her wings as if to beckon the filly near. "I wish I had a better answer, but this isn't a nightmare, Scootaloo. Final Dreams of a Filly Ch. 4The world felt like it had exploded around her. Suddenly, needles of ice punctured her lungs. The metallic taste of blood tinged her lips and for some reason she was burning alive. In the distance she could hear sirens wailing and terse, anxious voices barking out orders and choppy directions. None of them made any sense and she was being eaten from the inside out with fear. Scootaloo struggled to even remember what had happened that had led to this, but her thoughts were sluggish and she couldn't seem to collect them.Final Dreams of a Filly Ch. 4 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Only once the world came to a shuddering halt did she realize that she was in an ambulance. Before she could invest in the thought, she felt herself slip from consciousness and she was plunged into complete darkness. It didn't last long - or it didn't seem to. What felt like seconds later she opened her eyes and tried to sit up with a start. Her entire body was convulsing and trembling, but she could feel her heartbeat raging away within her frail chest.

Final Dreams of a Filly Ch. 1The moon was chillingly beautiful. The young filly watched it silently; a rare moment of reverence for her normally exuberant personality. A chill ran through her tiny frame and she pulled the thin material closer around her fledgling wings, trying to trap her frail body heat beneath the scarlet cape and emblem. A smile pulled at the corner of her mouth as her lavender eyes caught sight of the insignia. The symbol glittered in the moonlight, tendrils of frost having begun to collect on the surface of the cape. Winter was coming - and soon.Final Dreams of a Filly Ch. 1 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Her eyes fell away from the frost as she dismissed it. So what if it was cold? The filly nestled closer betwixt the wooden beams of her residence and closed her eyes tight in defiance. There was no time to worry about that now. Now it was time to sleep. Every filly knew the moon meant that, and even she didn't have the energy to fight its silent nocturne. "Goodnight, mom. Goodnight, dad. I love you " she called out softly. The answer was the sam
Southern Comfort Ch. 2Lightning danced across the darkened sky and bathed the room in a stark white pallor. The flash faded into darkness before a gentle glow dissolved the shadows and materialized in the doorway. Applejack lowered herself to her haunches, and she breathed soft sigh of contentment. Though she would never openly admit it, the momentary respite from the bitter cold of the outdoors felt wonderful. Frost clung to her slack mane and her forelegs ached from the muddied slurry of the fields. The storm had begun. They were ready and waiting for it. In the urgency of their preparations, she had not noticed her younger sister's absence. However, as the weather turned for the worse, she had found herself needing more and more to know that the little filly was safe.

Southern Comfort Chapter 1A cold chill ran down the old mare's spine. A soft trace of thunder rumbled within dark, heavy clouds that loomed high over the expansive apple orchard. The air itself seemed to anticipate the oncoming storm and crackled though her fur with rampant anxiousness. That didn't faze her though. Very few things fazed one of her age, and Granny Smith only surveyed the storm as if it were an old adversary. This hadn't been the first storm her brittle bones had weathered, and it certainly wouldn't be the last. Thunder pealed over the darkening sky and silenced even the proud nightingale that had tucked itself away from the bitter winds of winter.Southern Comfort Chapter 1 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The old mare had also hidden herself away, at least for now. Applejack and Big Macintosh had already begun preparing for the worst the weather could throw at them. They had no need for brittle limbs that had long since worn out their use in the fields. Granny Smith sighed softly, the exhalation causing her chest to rattle. She couldn't help but wonder
Legend of the LightsIt had been the longest night anypony could remember. The warm glow of Luna's moon had dimmed to a chilling whisper of its former comfort and now bathed the world in a stark, ethereal light. Mares held their foals close as stallions braced themselves for the end of what they all knew to be a terrible battle. No matter the cost, the balance of the world hung taut on the threads of fate, and even if by force rather than a mercy, Celestia had set forth to lower the pallid sphere. For a few moments after her departure, it seemed like all the world held its breath. Then, a delicate cascade of light crested the horizon and dawn broke over a newly forged empire. The goddess of the moon had fallen, beloved and feared by her subjects, to make way for the sun. Things would never quite be the same, not for a thousand years.Legend of the Lights in Drama More Like This

"Good evening." Luna greeted Twilight as the young unicorn stepped onto the same balcony as the princess. It had been just beyond their rooms, facing slightly off of south, giving a few of the city below. Canterlot had not fallen asleep yet; carts traveled to their final destinations of the day, couples went about for dinner, shopkeeps began to close up for home. Twilight bowed her head in greetings as she stepped out.
"Celly dotes on me so, it's a little embarrassing." Luna looked past Twilight to the two guards nearby. Twilight gave a nervous smile. She wondered - was this Celestia trying to protect her younger sister, or protect others from her little sister?
"How are you feeling?" she asked to shift the conversation. So far, Luna, while soft-spoken, didn't seem so poorly. Her opinion shifted slightly when Luna hung her head and let out a long sigh.
"So tired. And the night hasn't even begun. Once upon a time I relished this time of day, if only because I knew at least for

After the Princess left, Twilight was determined to get to studying. She wasn't too clear on how she was going to go about retrieving her books - maybe another teleport was in order. Twilight was just getting ready when a knock on the door interrupted her concentration. She groaned, knowing she had to answer it before Luna was disturbed.
"Wha- Oh, Spike!" Twilight was surprised to find her assistant crossly tapping his foot outside the door. He came in without her invitation.
"Where were you, Twi?" he asked, clearly indignant. "You were gone for hours! Do you know how hard it is to keep a straight face when you're lying to the Princess of Equestria?"
"One of." Twilight corrected. "And sadly, yes. I'm sorry Spike." gears turned in her head. She couldn't have spent more than an hour and a half searching for books, probably less. Yet Spike was right - it was already well into the afternoon, several hours having passed from when she began her venture. Twilight wondered just what

Rainbow Dash lay on a cloud, head in her hooves, looking out at nothing in particular. She had to keep her gaze down to keep the sun out of her eyes, and ended up pony-watching. Nothing in particular was going on; it was early enough in the summer that the heat hadn't gotten bad, but after planting season. Ponies went about their business in the late morning, a few deciding on an early lunch while most ran errands or still worked. Nothing special at all. At least, until she saw Fluttershy rushing through town with full saddlebags. It was odd enough to see Fluttershy in such a hurry, let alone with her packs. Rainbow Dash decided to see what her longtime friend was up to and took off from her cloud. She easily caught up to her Fluttershy by flying just above the ground.
"Hey Fluttershy. What's up?" she asked, making her flight look casual next to the hurried pony.
"Twilight said it was an emergency!" Fluttershy explained. It really came out more in gasps; Fluttershy was hardly

The words lurched from Twilight's mouth. "We found Luna's diary!" her eyes widened.
"Sister." Celestia called. "Come out now. It's time to let in the light." Twilight looked over her shoulder. She noticed a flash of green light under the door. It creaked open.
"Luna, no!" Twilight told her.
"I must, Twilight. We shall stand strong together." Luna stepped out of the door.
Meanwhile, in the Ponyville Library, a piece of paper came from nowhere and floated gingerly down onto the face of a pegasus sleeping on the library floor. The pegasus, still asleep, tried to blow the paper off of her.

Luna was holding up well on the walk to the library, though Twilight could read the strain on her face. She didn't really know how to behave. what was expected of her? What should she do? Should she treat Luna like a fillyfriend? That didn't even answer any questions, given that Twilight had the dating experience of a particularly socially inept rock.
"Twilight? What's going through your mind?" Luna asked. Twilight realized she had been staring.
"Ah, uh...I'm sorry. I'm just nervous. I don't know what to do, I mean, about...us?" the term seemed so foreign, so odd to apply. Luna both blushed and smiled, equal parts embarrassed and elated. At least Twilight knew she wasn't alone.
"You needn't worry. All you've done, and still you want to do more." she leaned over as they walked and nuzzled the side of Twilight's neck, playing with her mane. Twilight nickered, ticklish.
"There is generosity, but there is sacrifice. For my sake, please, do not go too far."

One very illuminating lesson on abacus use and maintenance and several hours of peaceful study later, Twilight and Luna left the library. Twilight could still hardly believe it as Luna had challenged to beat her with a calculator - and then won hoofs down. All with the help of beads and her own mental faculties she had computed things Twilight had wanted to write down before even getting to the calculator. For the first time in a very, very long time Twilight felt, well, stupid. She often felt foalish, out of place or embarrassed. She had never been made to feel stupid.
Luna had meant only to show off a little though, and Twilight held nothing against her. The younger princess had little enough to be proud of as it was. And that little display had helped the Princess make several insights to current tax regulations. Twilight was honored that the Princess had turned to her several times through the night, using her to clarify what the books could not. And she had gotten her ow

Luna's Best Night Ever: 2The hallways were always empty right after the sunrise, with ponies scurrying about in their rooms preparing for the day ahead or climbing into their beds after a long shift attending to the princess of the night. It was the only time Luna felt comfortable walking by herself in the castle halls, and the only time she wore her dressing gown. It was warm and comfortable to wear during the cold morning hours, but she felt it indecent to be caught wearing it by anyone besides Celly. And Celly had called it adorable before ruffling her mane the last time she had seen her in it.Luna's Best Night Ever: 2 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
She saw something moving out of the corner of her eye and turned to look. A statue, little more than a stone bust of a famous colt on a pedestal. Luna moved carefully over to the bust, inspecting it. There was another quick motion from behind it and Luna chased after it, nearly crashing into the attendant who had been hiding there. Both squeaked as they toppled over and fell to the floor. Luna rubbed her head as she
Luna's Best Night EverIt was the night of the Grand Galloping Gala and Princess Luna was thoroughly flustered. She stood in front of her mirror, pouting at her own reflection. Celestia had gone to great lengths to set the evening up for her, lowering the sun early and helping her to raise the moon and coerce the stars out of hiding so she would have time to prepare herself. She had even taken the liberty of personally greeting every guest on her behalf so that Luna wouldn't have an excuse to escape from the party itself.Luna's Best Night Ever in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Luna adjusted her tiara and smoothed out the dress Celestia had picked out for her for the fifth time in as many minutes. She frowned a little at the puffy, lacy affair that now adorned her form, all ribbons and silk and crushed velvet with a large, elaborate skirt that made her feel uncomfortable about the size of her flank. When Celestia had told her no bit had been spared to prepare for the gala Luna had been shocked, even appalled by the flagrant misuse of the treasury to fund an event
Luna's Best Night Ever 9Sleep always felt strange to Luna. It was like willingly entering a void, shutting out the world and entering a place where only she existed. Other ponies dreamed when night came, but often Luna felt like the hours she spent awake were the dream and the time she spent asleep was the cold reality, crushing loneliness mixed with a pleasant sense of calm and ease. It was a sensation she had grown used to during her imprisonment, albeit not by choice.Luna's Best Night Ever 9 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
She opened her eyes lazily and yawned, hoof reflexively covering her mouth to politely conceal the action. One by one her senses sharpened and her connection to the waking world returned. The stars had progressed of their own volition and she took a deep breath, tracing their paths to work out how far along they were. Her eyes widened at the realization that hours, not just one or two, had passed since she had begun her nap. She hopped off of the couch and ran to the window. The cold light of morning was already beginning to tinge the horizon

"Some small part of her was transformed by Discord, as damaged and fragmented as the moon was by the time he was done with it. And while my magic could pull together the pieces of the moon and bind them together once more, there was nothing I could do for my sister. By the time I realized that the Elements of Harmony were the key to mending her broken mind, she had already been consumed."
The colt shuddered slightly as he pictured Luna, wrapped in a veil of shadows and transforming the landscape into a twisted nightmare realm.
"So what are you going to do, princess?"
Celestia's lips curved into a wry smile. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she turned to face Silver, smiling broadly.

Luna's Best Night Ever: SS1The walk back to Sweet Apple Acres was usually a long one, but Applejack barely noticed the time pass by as she walked. The path seemed to meld together into a single, drawn out moment and she didn't remember each step as she took it. Her mind was somewhere else entirely, wondering where Rainbow Dash had flown off to after the party. Not only had she disregarded everypony's concern by not staying in bed and resting, but she hadn't stuck around at the party to at least say hello to her friends.Luna's Best Night Ever: SS1 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Applejack adjusted her hat a little and looked up at the sky. The clouds were sculpted into roses and the afternoon glow made them look golden, but there wasn't a trace of a rainbow trail or blue blur to indicate where the pegasus might be. She kicked a stone and watched it skitter along the path before bouncing into a ditch and sighed.
It was bad enough that Rainbow Dash never seemed to care when she got hurt. Every bump, scrape and bruise got shaken off like it was nothing, even when everypony

"Hey, Rainbow Dash!"
Dash heard a recognizable voice call out to her. She was in the middle of napping on a cloud after a hard day's work. Blinking her eyes, she tossed off the last moments of her relaxed break. She stood on the cloud, stretching her back and wings with a loud yawn. Finally, she moved to the edge of the cloud, looking down to see Scootaloo standing below, waiting in anticipation.
"Hey, Scoot," Rainbow Dash said, her voice still sounding tired from her rest. "What's up?"
Scootaloo eagerly bounced from the ground. "School's out! I came as fast as I could, since I didn't want to keep you waiting!" The orange pegasus filly sounded extremely excited. She was smiling ear to ear, flapping her small wings a bit as she hopped in place.
Rainbow Dash then remembered how she promised to give the filly a few lessons in flying today. "All right," the older pegasus replied. Though a little irritated that she was disturbed during her nap, she had made a promise, and was always loyal t
The Warmth Under Your Wings, Part 3The space of the waiting room felt like it had closed around Rainbow Dash and Dr. heartfeld, leaving them in a vacuum where they were able to comprehend only each other's presence and the things they said. Rainbow Dash was completely still on the outside, but the inside of her head kept telling her different ways to properly react to the things the old, faded tan stallion had just told her. Though she had an idea what had happened in Scootaloo's past, she was still somewhat unprepared for hearing the truth. The Warmth Under Your Wings, Part 3 in Drama More Like This
Dr. Heartfeld was a patient pony. While Rainbow was picking up the pieces of information one by one, he sat still and watched her with a pair of curious, yet calm eyes, eager to hear her response while still giving her the required time to absorb what he had said. With a straight back and a dignified expression, he sat ready for Rainbow's judgment, whatever it would be. This was, after all, the reason she had asked him to tell her the story of the unfortunate orange filly in the fir
The Warmth Under Your Wings, part 1The first thought that popped into Scootaloo's head before she opened her eyes was that the hay somehow felt different than usual. It felt so comfortable and warm, yet light as air and slightly wet like morning dew. She began poking the fluffy material a few times before she finally opened her eyes and took a good look at this strange bed surface. Surprised at first, she did not see hay, but a pretty white cloud. A smile formed on her face when she finally remembered just what was going on, and as she took a good look around the spacious room of white, the pleasant reality came to her like merry thoughts on a Hearth's Warming Eve's morning. The Warmth Under Your Wings, part 2"So where are we going, Dash?" Scootaloo asked, jumping happily in circles around the cyan pegasus as they walked the road to Ponyville. Rainbow Dash shot the filly a heartwarming smile. The happiness Scootaloo had been beaming with all day was something genuine, something she had never thought she would see in the orange pegasus. Before today, every smile Scootaloo made seemed to have required a command from her. Like she had been unable to laugh out of reflex like most ponies would when they are happy. That this smile and excitement on the skipping filly's face seemed to be happening without her realizing it, made Rainbow feel both glad and proud. She was the one who made Scootaloo laugh.
"You'll see when we get there, Squirt," Rainbow Dash said with a teasing tone. "But really, it's not that exciting. It's jus
The Tale of a Cutie Mark, part 1Canterlot Library is widely regarded as the greatest source of knowledge in Equestria. The main hall alone is an endless maze of more than a thousand shelves, each about four stories tall and so long that one would have to walk for at least five minutes before reaching one end from the other. Yet even with shelves this huge, one shelf is rarely enough to contain even a single category of literature. There are simply too many books. A thousand lifetimes would not be enough to read even half of them. And that is only a part of the library. The Tale of a Cutie Mark, part 1 in Romance More Like This
For this reason, Twilight always found herself to be as excited as a schoolfilly whenever she trotted along the crevasses of the shelves in the main hall. This library was her candy land, and every book was another sugary treat for her hungry mind. She constantly carried a toothy grin with her when she searched the incredibly tall shelves one by one for whatever she was looking for, secretly hoping that she would never find it just so she could spend m
Single Wing - part 7Although the white sheets had been removed days ago, Scootaloo was still certain that she could smell Copperbolt's distinct fragrance from the large mattress. Although the ceremony was held on a holiday, and the sun had been shining as brightly as always, only a few ponies had shown up to show their respect. The excited filly moved her head from side to side, checking out the different instruments of fun that she could use. The swings were seductive, but the ticklish feeling she got from the carrousel was always a winner, even though it often made her nauseous. She looked over her shoulder as much as possible without breaking her neck, maintaining the silly grin for her mother to see and snigger at.
"Wow, Scoot," the brown mare said with a hint of happy surprise in her voice. "You're really excited about this, aren't you? You know, it's not an amusement park. It's just the plain old playground. Don't you come here almost every day to train on the scooter?"
Scootaloo nodded hastily and did a 180 degree turn
Single Wing - part 2The look on Cherilee's face told Scootaloo that she had definitely not made it in time. She offered her teacher an awkward grin that was met with a disappointed look. Luckily, it only took a few seconds for Cherilee to let her breath out and point her hoof to the only empty seat in the classroom. Scootaloo gave her a few hasty nods before she zigzagged between the tables and positioned herself as neatly as possible in the seat, trying her best to create the image of a perfect little school-filly.Single Wing - part 2 in Drama More Like This
This image was broken quickly though, by the mean sound of giggling from a few seats in front of her. She sighed in annoyance and looked disapprovingly at the only two fillies she could imagine would rudely laugh like that: Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.

Single Wing - part 1The early morning light was as sharp as always, passing the borders of the open kitchen window where a light breeze gently shook the drapes from side to side, letting in short glimpses of the sun's blinding rays. Scootaloo quickly found herself blinded, just as she was carrying one of her mother's finest plates to the kitchen table. A bumpy corner of the rug swept the temporarily blinded filly off her feet, making her accidentally lose her grip on the pretty piece of porcelain and send it flying through the air. With a bit of reflexes, luck and agility though, the orange filly managed to leap forward and caught the plate midair before it would break into an impossible puzzle. She let out a sigh of relief, wondering just how disappointed her mother would be if she had broken this heirloom of hers from her own parents. Not wanting such an event to happen again; the orange filly carefully put the plate down and decided to close the window so the wind could no longer play this trick on herSingle Wing - part 1 in Drama More Like This
Single Wing - part 3"I'm home!" the orange filly shouted as soon as she opened the door. She did not get a response though, which was usual for whenever she would return. She walked upstairs and slowly opened the door to the brown pegasus' bedroom, careful not to wake her up. The sound of her mother's breathing was steady, and loud enough to be called a low snoring. She was wrapped up tightly in a blanket and lay crumbled up in a fetal position. Scootaloo noticed a half-eaten sandwich, a glass of water and a bottle of pain-pills on the drawer next to her, probably something Dr. Heartfeld had given her before he had left. The sandwich and water made the young filly smile at the doctor's kind-heartedness, but the pills made the smile fade away as they reminded her of her dear mother's condition: She was not sleeping because she wanted to.Single Wing - part 3 in Drama More Like This

The voice carried authority. It was the voice of a pony who had the situation under control, who knew what she was doing at all times, almost laughter in the face of peril. But it was also an honest voice, one of compassion and loyalty, one whose softness came not from weakness, but from kindness. It was a magical voice. Most of all, it was a voice of royalty, and it spoke again.
"Twilight Sparkle," said Princess Celestia. "Pray tell, what do you think you are doing?"
In the middle of the large chamber, the unicorn pony Twilight Sparkle searched desperately for an exit, but the royal guards had already blocked them all. The question gave her reason to pause, and she wondered what she was doing. She didn't remember how she had gotten here, only that she needed to escape.

"You know," said Twilight to Applejack as they trod along the path, leaving Ponyville behind them, "this would be so much easier if you let me lead."

From the back of the line, Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes. "This isn't going to be like the time you tried to take us to Zecora's, is it?"
"We got out of that okay, didn't we?" asked Spike, who was riding on Rainbow Dash's back. As he spoke, he lost his grip on Rainbow's coat and nearly toppled, and he had to grab onto her mane to avoid from falling off altogether.

Pumpkin was waiting for Twilight anxiously when she climbed out of the burrow, struggling beneath the weight of the homemade saddlebag. When the purple unicorn was finally out of the earth, the filly began jumping, impatient and ready to move.
"Hold your horses," muttered Twilight. "I told you I would take you home. Leaping around like this isn't going to make it happen any faster."
Pumpkin dug her hooves into the earth in irritation. "I know," she groaned. "But we're finally getting a move on, and even then you're slow."
Pumpkin had been ready to leave not long after Twilight had met Fluttershy, but Twilight had refused to let Pumpkin go off into the Everfree Forest on her own. Fortunately, Fluttershy had somehow managed to get Pumpkin to stay, as Twilight would have been unable to force the issue herself.
"I mean, my mum's probably scared to death," said Pumpkin.

Fluttershy was exhausted as she returned to her house, the sun setting and painting the world around her a soft and warm russet. She had spent the better part of the afternoon attempting to rebuild a groundhog burrow that had been flooded after the most recent rain. She made a mental note to talk to the Weather Agency at the next chance she got. The rain was important, Fluttershy knew, but there had to be a way to go about it that didn't involve evicting woodland creatures from their homes. A strong breeze whistled through the trees, and the noise seemed louder in the silent twilight hours.
There was something off about the weather, thought Fluttershy. Every part of the weather had to serve a purpose. The strong winds would just cause damage and scare little fillies, and there wasn't much reason for the flying crew to let it happen, not when the wind could be redirected to flow around Ponyville. At least, Fluttershy assumed it could; she'd left her wea

Twilight was wandering through the Swayback Mountains. Somewhere, some part of her knew that this was wrong, that it didn't make sense for her to be here. She knew she was still lost in the Everfree Forest. But these thoughts, if they were real, had no effect on her actions, as she continued her trot toward a stone building set within the mountains themselves.
Once inside, the path slanted downward, into the heart of the mountain, and soon it became too dark to see. At this, Twilight stamped her hooves on the ground in rhythm. Two clops, a pause, and then three clops.
The lights went on in Twilight Sparkle's laboratory. Machines were set against the wall, lights glowing and gears grinding as they worked. At the moment they were connected to an elliptical dish, processing data gathered from the stars. A large circle was etched on the floor with chalk inside

The small equestrian figure moved through the growth of the Everfree Forest, her bright blue eyes rising and falling in the darkness with each step she took. Her skin clung close to her ribs; while she was not dangerously malnourished, she had less meat on her body than anypony would want. She carried in her mouth a crude handwoven basket filled partway with any herbs and grasses she could find.
As she neared the entrance to her den, loud noises ahead of her prompted her to pause. She set the basket on the ground and cautiously approached a clearing in the thick woods, trying her best to stay hidden and preparing to flee at any time. Near the entrance to her den were a mare and a very young filly. The filly was unfamiliar to her and frightened her, but she recognized the mare's violet fur. "You were right, Applejack," said Rarity.
She was standing over the magnifying sheet she used to inspect jewels. Two pieces of paper lay next to each other on a table. Applejack peered anxiously over her shoulder, curious to see what the other pony had seen, but also desperate to avert her eyes from anything else in the room. There was something about the Carousel Boutique that always put Applejack on edge. As far as the earth pony was concerned, the frilly outfits that decorated the back room were no different than shackles, and just looking at them made Applejack feel trapped.
"I don't see it," admitted Applejack. "Both of them look the same."
The first slip was the note Twilight had left. The second was a star chart Twilight had left with Rarity for reference during the fashion show incident. Notes were scrawled in the margins, labeling the constellations.

"Well?" said Applejack, running out of patience. "Ya gonna write the letter or ain't ya?"
"I'll do it," said Twilight, her voice panicked. "I just need a quill and paper, right?" She used her horn to lift a blank parchment and a quill from the desk. "Let's see. 'Today I learned that a true friend will always support you.'"
She didn't get a chance to write a second sentence before Applejack pushed the paper away from her. "Now hold on, Twilight," she said. "Don't you need to address it first?"
Twilight swallowed. "Address?" she stuttered.
"Yeah, you silly filly," interjected Pinkie Pie. "Address means you write the name of the pony you're sending it to."
"I know what it means," said Twilight resentfully. She raised the quill to the paper again, but didn't write. She stared at the paper nervously, then at Applejack, then at the paper again. Beginning to sweat, she squeezed her eyes shut, trying to think of a way out.

Moonlight carefully maneuvered down the steep gradient, being careful not to lose her balance. "Come on," she urged the other ponies. "We need to put as much distance between us and Gilda as we can."
The underground tunnels had opened up on the unstable cliff-side. The steep plane stretched downward with no obstacles except for the occasional rocky protrusion that looked as if part of the mountain had been wrenched out of place. The terrain changed with every step, from flat stone to mud to gravel, all equally treacherous and all the same dull gray. Above Moonlight, the sky had somehow managed to become darker and more morose. She couldn't tell why. Thick clouds had grouped in the sky, but it wasn't as if they had a sun to mask. Rainbow Dash watched, bewildered, as the stallion with the hourglass mark practically danced across the library. His brown mane hung over his head, bobbing with each step he took, of which there were many. Everything about him seemed to be at a quicker pace than the world around him, as if his heart beat twice as fast, or perhaps twice as hard.
It was the day after Twilight had taken the other ponies down to the lake to explain the truth. In the mean time, Applejack, who seemed to have taken over as the leader of the group and representative of their Twilight, had permitted the other Twilight access to the lab in the library's basement, on the off chance that something there would help them discover a way to cross over or retrieve Twilight. As she reached one side of the arena, from the ground on the opposite side the Slender Pony emerged from ground. He stood tall over her, his presence still bearing down.
"The truth " Pinkie whispered to herself as she stared at the Slender Pony, her phonograph letting off a slight buzz.
"I see it's the truth behind everything isn't it something I've been hiding from, something that you show me." She tried to rationalize everything.
The Slender Pony began to walk slowly towards, the haze of his

The only sound that could be heard in Fluttershy's house was the very faint, very soft sound of sobs. Even the animals had grown quiet, as if in understanding of Fluttershy's plight. The only animal that hadn't kept quiet was Angel, who had tried several things to cheer her up, but nothing did the trick.
She just lay curled up on her bed, hiding under the covers. She was sure she'd cried enough tears to fill a bucket and now her eyes just felt tired and dry. She just wanted to stay curled up in her bed and be forgotten. She felt so insignificant.
"Rainbow Dash " She murmured quietly under her covers, sniffing as memories began to pour into her mind. Memories that made her think back to perhaps, there was some warning, some moment that showed that Rainbow was tired of their relationship
The rain was coming down gently around them as they watched through the window of Fluttershy's cottage. Rainbow let out a soft sigh, perking Fluttershy's curiosity.

The cool fall air sent a breeze through Fluttershy's mane as she slowly walked through the streets of Ponyville. Winter would be here soon, the streets would be covered in the beautiful blanket of white snow that embraced it every year. This was always one of her favorite times of the year, when everything was quiet and calm, the soft chill giving the world a sort of serene beauty. Even though most animals would be hibernating for the winter leaving her without much work, she always spent her time simply admiring the beauty the landscapes had to offer.
She felt a constant sense of awe in the simple wonders of the world this time of year, the way the leaves would change colors from their luscious green to the beautiful harmony of reds, oranges and yellows. The air would almost always have a wonderful smell to it as somepony would have a small fire going, or perhaps would be wood roasting some new savory dish or even the simple crisp air that nature provided.
However, things we
3 Days Regret - Part 1Twilight Sparkle was woken by the light from Celestia's midday sun shining through the window, the intense light barraged her closed eyes stirring her from her sleep. The lavender pony was comfortable unlike most mornings, her back wasn't in pain as it was after nights spent on the floor of the library, but in fact felt massaged and soothed. Twilight enjoyed the feeling as she readied herself to sleep in, though it wasn't long until a new beam of light distressed her eyes again forcing her to wake. As her eyes opened the blazing light caused her to flinch, as her gaze began to come into focus the light resided behind a figure looming over her. Only a second passed before her eyes focused enough to make out the figure before her sight, a beautiful white mare sat by her side shielding her from the window's light. "Good morning Twilight Sparkle." Rarity said sweetly, brushing her hoof over Twilight's mane. "I was close to needing to say good afternoon." But you didn't know that's a fake book!" She said while trotting Rarity around in a circle. "What, my super brain cannot handle this no book cannot be correct!" Replied the Twilight plush. "The being weak to a Sonic Rainkick was actually YOUR weakness you told us all!" Replied a worn looking Rainbow Dash as Pinkie threw the Rainbow plush at Twilight knocking her into the wall as Pinkie yelled "Nooooo not again, Super Dash!" "Weeeee you did it Dashie!" 3 Weeks Party - Part 2It was closing time for Sugar Cube Corner. Mrs. Cake was changing the sign on the door to 'closed' while her husband was finishing cleaning the last of the tables. "I'll go let Pinkamena know, dear" Mrs. Cake told her love as she went upstairs to Pinkie's room. They didn't have a foal of their own, and looked after Pinkie Pie as her parent figures. When she first appeared in Ponyville years ago, Pinkie was only a small pink filly and her mane was strait from sadness and the rain. The couple soon found out she had no family nearby, if any, and feeling sorry for her they decided to adopt her, at least until her parents could be found. She was such a sad pony back then.3 Weeks Party - Part 2 in Short Stories More Like This

She picked up a stone in her talon and threw it at a nearby tree indenting the wood. "If that stupid postmare screwed up AGAIN, she will wish she never crosses me again." Ditzy brought herself back into the air as she approached Rainbow Dash's house. 'I just need to deliver this and go.' She struggled but made her way to the cloud mansion and managed to post the letter. She breathed in relief as she closed the postbox.
Suddenly Ditzy felt herself in a powerless hold, she couldn't speak due to a talon holding her mouth shut and her fears were realized when she saw the same talon on her hoof that cut her shoulder earlier. "Well it seems you DO know where her postbox is." Gilda menacingly shouted.

"I bet she's good business though." Twilight gently nudged her friend desiring a reply.
Applejack smirked slightly. "Yea, she's good business. But as good as our apples are ah hope she gets some hay in her diet." The orange mare slowed down behind her friend. The unicorn seemed so happy, so innocent. Ignorant even of what was to come. "Look Twilight." Applejack ended their aimless conversation as she called over. "We really need to talk about this."

Hearth's Warming WeatherRainbow Dash marvelled at her work as she hovered above the frozen landscape. Ponyville was blanketed by a thick but even layer of soft snow, shimmering with the light of Luna's moon. It was truly a beautiful sight one that even Rarity would stare open jawed at. Rainbow smirked as her eyes took in the view, it was truly a masterpiece from Ponyville's master weather pony. Suddenly Rainbow quivered as an ice-cold lance of wind tore through her soft coat. 'Oh, right the cold.' She laughed lightly as she looked up, the grand creation of clouds filled the sky as a calming blanket, though it wasn't the type of blanket Rainbow truly wanted as she flapped her freezing wings for the final time, gently lowering herself onto a wooden beam. Usually she would dive down landing in a spectacular fashion, but even Rainbow's arrogance knew it's limits carefully stopping on the slippery frozen beam. The only light to illuminate the visible town came from the window of Ponyville's library, as a small orange foal gazed out from the glass with a sigh. The halls of the royal palace of Canterlot echo with the noise of ponies coming to life for the beginning of the new day, set to come any moment. Two lines of royal guardsmen, freshly suited up in armor, make their way down a specific hallway, stopping a few yards away from the ornate doors that lie at the end of it. They line up against opposite walls, looking at each other silently and waiting. In the dark room that lies beyond the doors, there comes a stirring, and with a delicate yawn the room becomes awash in magic lig

AUTHOR'S NOTES: This is an entry into Equestria Daily's "Happy Luna" contest. The aim was to write some kind of story where Luna is like totally super happy, which I suppose is sort of a rarity, outside of one or two fics I've seen. I have my own views of Luna's personality, but it was really fun writing her all happy and silly like I did here! Also, I drew some inspiration for this fic (including the deliberately silly title) from a great YouTube video called "Cool Guy has Chill Day," so go look at up if you want a quick giggle.

Twilight grumbles as she scratches something out on her scroll paper, her magic-controlled quill moving farther down the parchment and beginning to write again. It stops after a moment, Twilight's eyes narrowing in thought, contemplating how best to go about this spell. After a few seconds, something clicks, the unicorn's quill scribbling upon the scroll once more. She observes her writing closely, and a wide smile stretches across her face. "Yeah, I bet that's it!"
She finishes writing, magically lifting the parchment in the air and giving it a good once over with her eyes. Then, she winces. "A lot of crossed out stuff though... I'm gonna have to rewrite it! Ugh!"

AUTHOR'S NOTES: Now I've done it, haven't I? Yeah I went and caught the MLP bug, and now I'm writing about it. I thought up a lot of cool things for this story and I simply must get them down in words. The show is great and its characters lend itself well to a stories like this, so hopefully it works! It'll also be my first multi-chapter effort in quite a while. I hope you all enjoy it, but I guess we'll see. I eventually intend to write more MLP stuff in the future, so if you are interested, keep track of me!

"Where my sisters live!" the excited pink pony answered.
Roxanne turned her attention to Dash. "Our daughters write us letters every month. I've given you their addresses so you may find them easier."
Dash blinked a few times. "Ooh... Why didn't I think of that? Of course you two would know."

Apple Bloom recoiled at the voice behind her, slowly turning with a look of guilt on her face. She had risen as dawn was breaking; her bindle neatly packed and ready to leave, but had stalled at the gates of Sweet Apple Acres for too long. She wasn't sure how long she'd stood, staring at the threshold, afraid to cross that invisible line that would take her away from home. The entrance to the farm had turned from a welcoming, happy place to an invisible barrier which she could not bring herself to cross. There would be no going back once she had left.
And now it was too late.
Applejack stood behind her, eyes narrowed as she glared at her sister, shaking her head slowly. "Ah'd never have thought it. Sneakin' off like a selfish lil' filly! Ah said no you can't go, an' you do it anyway! Where's the loyalty?"

The little purple sparkly blimp slowly rose into the air, enjoying the wind as it played across her surface. Her propellers spun into life as she turned in a westerly direction, the fluted spire that jutted out from her control deck pointing the way.
Twilight wasn't a big blimp. Her gasbag was large but stubby, her fins small and protruding, and her purple gondola cabin was slung almost apologetically underneath. Growing up as a little balloon in the big city she had always been jealous of the other airships, who always seemed to be more graceful than she. But soon study had paid off.
Today, she was on an important mission. Today she had to ferry vital medical aid across Airquestria. A hailstorm had hit the town of Hull, and puncture repair kits were urgently needed.

It wasn't exactly the same, but it was good enough. The modern whiteboard (she had never been a fan of that, but Canterlot's education board had been firm on classroom upgrades) had been taken down for the evening, and a traditional blackboard erected in its place. On the board was scrawled in chalk "PONYVILLE WELCOMES ITS ELUMINI ALUMENY - FORMER CLASSMATES"
One of her earliest ideas had been to arrange the desks and chairs in the shape of the traditional schoolroom, but Blueberry had talked her down from this, and she had later grudgingly admitted that sitting in rows on tiny chairs designed for foals wouldn't have been conducive to an entertaining evening of socialising. Instead the desks had been pushed t
The Star In Yellow - Part TwoTwilight smiled dreamily as she lounged on the smooth grass, splotches of green rubbing off onto her coat as she lay. She stared at the sun, enraptured, for what felt like hours. At the back of her mind a voice was telling her that it should hurt, that staring at the sun could irreversibly damage her eyes. Twilight wasn't sure how this could be possible though; the sun wasn't bright, it was just a yellow circle of paint as it had always been, in the exact centre of that watercolour sky.
A small silver and blue pony cheekily leapt over her, eyes fixed on a butterfly that seemed to drift along on the breeze. "Why you!" Rainbow Dash narrowed her eyes and stormed up the stairs after the self-centred unicorn. "That's my friend you're talking about!"
