She walked through the grass towards the kingdom. The only thing she could think of was Marco. It didn't seem right. Why did they have to part so suddenly and harshly. She tried not to think about it and kept walking. She was soon exhausted from the day's events and slept under the cover of a patch of bushes. The next day she was feeling a little better but not by much. She was busy thinking about how she would explain herself when she got home when two men with knives jumped from out of cover and grabbed her (was it really that easy to guess?). A knife was held to her neck and her hands were being bound behind her back. She heard them talking.
"oh you're a pretty lady." One said in her ear.
"Say, haven't I seen you before? You look familiar. What do you think, Jeb?

He got up and walked back towards the cave. Not a word was spoken. The trip was not very long at all, but the silence made it seem to be.
When they arrived Marco let Lilia down. "You need something to eat, first," he said.
He lumbered over to the awkwardly placed counter by the cave wall. He opened the small bread box and tried to get a loaf out with his large claws. He picked one out and found that he had poked holes in it and smashed it. This obviously irritated him. Lilia placed a hand on his paw and looked up at him.
"It's okay. I'll do it," she said seeing he was having trouble. She got out a loaf of bread and a piece of salted meat and began to eat. Marco watched hoping he could assist her.
"Do you need anything else to eat?" he asked with concern.
"No, this is enough for now."

Her sleep deprivation left her head a bit fuzzy. She felt like she was forgetting something. Why did she have these shackles on? She seemed to have forgotten for a moment before everything rushed back to her memory in a startling instant. He had shackled her to the cave wall because he was supposed to be no longer handsome. She shut her eyes and tried to take this calmly. He was no longer handsome but she would still love him. He had treated her better than she could have imagined. But what did he look like? "I always wanted to come here with you. I couldn't share the beauty of this place when I went by myself."
Marco looked back. Lilia was now resting her arms on his wings and looked like she was sitting in a luxurious arm chair. She was obviously enjoying this. "I'm glad you did. It's beautiful." There was a long pause as they continued to move through the forest. Lilia then asked, "Why can't you fly?"

Marco's crying ceased and he went quite. He uncovered his face and opened his big green eyes. He looked surprised and said, "Of course not! I always loved you, Lilia, even if it was for the wrong reason. The time we spent together at the castle was how I always wanted us to be. I know I've been horribly deceitful, but believe me when I say, the love and respect I gave you at the castle was genuine. To treat you any way less than that would be a crime."
Lilia patted his face and asked, "If that's true, then why do you think you're so horrible?"

Lilia was bewildered by this. "I don't understand. What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about our relationship. The first time I saw you was when I looked out that hole in the cave. I fell in love with that beautiful figure standing on balcony, singing to the bird. A Special Day at the BeachIt was a really hot summer's day, into the triple digits, about 100 degrees. In fact,it was so hot you could fry an egg and two pieces of bacon on the pavement at the same time.A young woman named Gabriella stayed inside her house with the air conditioner on full blast trying to keep herself cool.Gabriella sighed heavily and turned on the TV looking for something to watch but couldn't find anything interesting so she decided to go into the kitchen. When Gabriella tried to get up,the couch she was sitting on was so drenched with sweat the material of the couch was temporarily stuck onto her skin. With some effort, she managed to get it off and went into the kitchen for a drink of ice cold water.Unfortnately, since the weather was in the triple digits, everyone had to save water to prevent a drought so getting a drink was out of the question.A Special Day at the Beach in Short Stories More Like This

Nick stared blankly at his computer screen. It had been days since he'd had any sort of inspiration for his songwriting and he just felt completely bummed out. His online friends had tried to make him feel better, but all in all it seemed nothing would help. He just needed some sort of inspiration to break him out of this slump.
After an hour of browsing around FA and DA and his other social networks and coming up with nothing, he leaned back in his chair and let the chat messages flood in. Someone started going on about their problems again, and he began to tune it out. He turned on some music to help himself relax and ran his hands slowly down the keyboard.
Maybe I'll write a story, he thought. That'll give me a break from writing music and I could actually come up with something good.
He opened his writing program and watched the cursor blink for what felt like an eternity, trying to come up with an idea. Then his instant mess

I'd seen him before.
At first I was afraid of what I'd seen. I was seven. I could not see his face, for the sun had set and shadows surrounded me as I walked along the edge of the forest. I only saw his eyes: glowing red, staring at me through the darkness. But by the time I had acted upon my childish curiosity and walked over to where the eyes were, he was gone, disappeared into the shadows of nightfall.
It made me nervous. I wanted to know what it was I had seen in the forest. So my mind made up possibilities. I had dreams. They were intense dreams, violent dreams. I would awaken pumping with adrenalin, wanting more but never remembering what I had seen or done. And of course, there were the nightmares. In those, the eyes would haunt me, follow me, watching, always watching.
After a few weeks, sometimes months, the dreams would stop coming. Then, I would see his eyes again and the entire cycle would start over.
Eventually, I came to my senses and told my par

He stared at the paper in disbelief, his cold blue eyes scanning it over, looking for where he had went wrong. He grimaced slightly, then changed his expression back to neutral, looking up at his English teacher who was sitting at a large brown desk, writing on something with a bright red pen.
The class bell rang, and students shouted with excitement, milling around him and exiting the classroom. He stayed seated, until only he and the teacher were left in the room.
He stood up and threw his bag over his shoulders, grunting slightly at the weight of text books and homework inside of it. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary though. He walked over to the teacher's desk and stopped, staring at the teacher.
The teacher slowly looked up, his expression changing to a weak, utterly fake smile.
"Sam. What's up?"
He decided to be frank. "Why did I get a 55 on this paper?" He dropped the paper on the desk, with a bit too much force, betraying his frustration.
Daydreams - A Dragon Transformation Story Fall had come in full force, a brutal onslaught of wet and cold weather. Derek had been enjoying it, as the cold weather had given him an excuse to stay indoors and play with his new computer. Today was different though. It was one of those late fall days that made him long for summer again, where the sun shone its warmth upon the world and lit it up with brilliant color. The little things added up fast: the bus to school came on time and he got to see the sun rise over the farm fields near his home. Everything was finally ready. Kay stood in the airport at the departure gates, not looking forward to the long flight ahead of him. He had brought a sketch pad and his macbook along with him to pass the time, but flights like these just weren't easy. The trip to China and Nepal was over half way around the world. Due to the limitations on his visa for China, he would need to be visiting Nepal first, but that didn't matter. The trip was all planned out and he was extremely excited.
He'd saved up for this trip for over a year, living on part-time wages and hoarding student loan money. He didn't care that he was massively in debt. He knew in his mind that it would all be worth it to see the places he had spent so much time obsessing over. He loved learning everything he could about these places. I stepped out of the airport and into the cool Toronto air. The day was bright and the sky was clear. A light snow had fallen the night before, patches of it covering the grass around the airport. I towed my bad along grumbling as the wheel jumped over gravel and sidewalk salt. The flight hadn't been bad compared to normal (I occasionally get flight sick) but I still felt worn out from it. At least I had a few hours of downtime before everyone else showed up.
I had no idea how this would work; I knew that in one place or another, all of the friends that I was meeting with chatted. But I was afraid that there'd be arguments or something. Regardless, they all knew what they were getting into and I was really happy that I was finally getting to meet them, and spend a week with most of them.
The fact that it had worked out in the first place was complete luck. Everyone was off of school at this time

The beginning... It's so hard to think, so hard to recall what life was like before... but, I must remember. I must always remember.
It was Tuesday morning, 7 AM. Way earlier than any normal teenager on summer break would be up at. But, my parents being my parents, insisted that we get on the road early so we could get the four hour drive from Banff to Jasper National Park out of the way. We'd been on the road a few days, staying over night in camp grounds and cheap motels when it rained, so I was completely stoked on arriving at our destination and having a few days of downtime in the woods.
The drive was a blur of blasting punk rock on my ipod while staring out the window and trying to sleep to the rumbling of our ancient ford explorer. Either way, the thick green forest that blurred by was strangely beautiful. It's not like it was anything new though. Living in western Canada, I'd kinda gotten to know the forest quite well, but something about this section of highway

I lay back on the cool sand and shivered as water washed over my legs. The ocean felt warm compared to the sand as it had been a cold summer so far. But that didn't matter. It felt like nothing mattered anymore.
See, a few days ago, my parents had broken to me that we were moving. Like many families with a moderately low income, they could no longer afford to live in the nice part of the suburbs and opportunity for work had struck up elsewhere. So naturally, like any good parents wanting to provide for their kids, they leaped on the positions which paid better but required moving farther inland. They would be starting work in two days.
Tonight was my last day here and it really made me sad. Being summer, most of my friends were out of town so I would not even get to say goodbye before leaving forever; or, as my parents put it, "leaving temporarily". Both my sister
Deja VuDeja Vu. I'd been here before, in another life or a distant memory of times passed. Golden fields stretched endlessly beyond the horizon, where towers of black and gold clouds roiled. In the distance, lightning struck the ground and a distant rumble of thunder followed. The storm was nearing.Deja Vu in Short Stories More Like This
But there was a reason I was here. I stared around the endless plane of shoulder high grass, digging through my memories. They all were distant, like they didn't really matter anymore. Something else had gripped onto them and locked them into the cage, as if I were meant to only focus on what was here at this moment. And in this moment, nothing mattered except escaping the approaching storm.
I started running. I trampled my way through the grass, trying to find a nonexistent road to civilization or anywhere to hide.

As I lay on my bed in the darkness holding the shell, I slowly drifted to sleep.
