And if the night runs over,
And if the day won't last,
And if your way should falter,
Along this stony pass.

It's just a moment.
This time will pass...

On bended knee is no way to be free
lifting up an empty cup I ask silently
that all my destinations will accept the one that's me
so I can breathe.

Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere
underneath my being is a road that disappeared...

Looking down on McMillan Peak from the summit of Red Mountain #3. McMillan Peak is in San Juan County in the state of Colorado. It climbs to 12,805 feet (3,902.96 meters) above sea level and is located at latitude - longitude coordinates of N 37.880273 and W -107.689783... jeeze but I loved the greens of the tundra. the sun dropped below the mountains not long after... a great ending to a great day.

The 2012 landscape calendar is now available! Go check it out :D

The daisy is the great dissident amongst the throngs of ... does anyone know what these flowers are called? I almost wiped out getting to this spot from the impromptu trail because I was so excited. The amazing thing is that there are two more lakes just behind that forest, but they are not visible from this flowery spot. I'll post a photo from a spot where all three lakes line up perfectly into the distance :D

I'd be hiding just behind the tree line on the mountain visible from here -

As often happens with nature photography great light is coupled with foul weather. This scene was a calm and relaxing prelude to the oncoming storm that blew up and over this exposed ridge. To hear more about that read the story with this photo: [link]

Mac McAnally - Down The Road
[link]

When I was a boy

Four houses down from me
Was a family with an only child
She was the only girl
In this whole world that could make me smile

Down the road
I made up reasons to go
Down the road

Somewhere inside of me
There was something she took a liking to
And I asked her to marry me
She said she really wanted to

Down the road
To see what life’s gonna hold
Down the road

Her momma wants to know
If I washed in the blood or just in the water
Her daddy wants to know
If I make enough to take his daughter

Down the road
Before he can let her go
Down the road

Now down the street from here
There’s an engineer with an only son
And our baby girl says
She believes that he is the only one

A burst in the clouds is highlighted by the setting sun over Sedona. I watched as this shower moved towards me and heard the loudest bang of thunder I have heard in a while. I figured it was time to get off the hill.

Don't let the title fool you, it was pretty cold and windy up on the rim, which was the theme all week at night. This is one view of the canyon that has instantly become my favorite vantage point. You get a lot in one scene. The canyon walls, the river, the spires in the canyon, not to mention on a good night, light like this. This is however zoomed into the canyon. To the right, on the rim, is the desert view watch tower which seemingly blends into the landscape (not visible in this image). I had to get my shot there, but it was overcrowded with people. I decided to walk a ways away and found a perfect rock to set up my tripod and sit my butt down on. It was the best seat in the house apparently. This was only taken five minutes before my shot "echoes" in the opposite direction. The light show this evening was just remarkable. I still have a few frames from the rim to share, but like always I will try to take my time. Comments and thoughts appreciated!

Magnificient sunset scene amongst old volcanos. I carefully blended several exposures in photoshop to bring out all of the beauties that nature offered to us.

After setting up camp and walking a long stretch of the beach, we waited patiently for the sunset. Eager to get the evening shoot underway, we began photographing this late evening scene, the moon greeting us a little early.

New shot of an old fall.

Made the trip up to the WV Highlands this weekend to see if any of the trees had started to change color yet. Not much color here on the North Fork Blackwater River, but the lighting was the best yet of any trip I've made here before.

And she wonders where these dreams go
Cuz the world got in her way
What's the point in ever trying?
Nothing's changing anyway

They press their lips against you
And you love the lies they say
And I tried so hard to reach you
But you're falling anyway

Well...here I go for a second attempt (umm...I've played around to no success) at this digital photomanip thingy.
I don't have a computer program for such things. I just overlay two image files on my camera to create a new file. Then I can mess with the contrast and stuff on my camera's software for editing like I usually do. :)

I have been after this windmill for awhile now. I didn't like the way the sky looked the past few months and...frankly, I don't really have the patience to wait another few months to pass and the sun to be in a better position celestially.
Impatient...want, want, want.
so.
I did this. lol....

*interesting to note, my fave part of the photo is the part that bothers Sheila, lol. :D
