Character: Amber - "Sucker Punch"
Costume made by - Yaya Han
Photography by Brian Boling
Model - Yaya Han

Thank you, Brian, for taking these shots at SDCC!

You can see the costume pretty well in these pics - I made it the same way they did it in the movie, which is by cutting up a Vietnam era pressure flight suit and altering it HEAVILY.
If you look at the images of the actual costume on display here: [link] On the right side of the hip there is a finished hole, through which an air hose is attached to the plane and on the inside of the flight suit there are rubber air bags sewn in that expand with air and compress the pilot's body parts so they won't pass out from all the flight maneuvers.
Brian was able to get his hands on such a flight suit for me and I spent hours seam ripping the inside air bags and the pressure tubes that followed the length of the arms, legs and back of the suit.
Then I chopped it in half and replaced the zipper, made the pants into chaps, lined them, and used the left over matching fabric to make the hat. I had to make my own pattern for the hat.
The gun/magazine holster and belt were the next to tackle, and I give many thanks to Kathy of GodSaveTheQueenFashions for helping me pick out the leathers and tools and showing me leather working techniques. I used a heavy veg tan leather hide and made my own pattern for the pieces, cut them out and punched stitching holes for hours. Then heavy duty snaps were added as well as D-rings. After making all the pieces, I hand dyed them black and shined them up. It took about a day and a half to make and assemble the whole get-up.
The gloves are neoprene and leather.
Last pieces to make were the panties, bra and choker, and thank God I found the right pleated trim. I altered a bra by adding the zipper and the trim, same with the panties. Add some fishnets and a lollipop and I was ready to kill zombie nazis!

I'll say that by the end of SDCC, I had eaten 6 lollipops and was pretty sick of them. Thinking of casting a fake lollipop, but then I'd have to put plastic in my mouth ugh.

Looking forward to more Sucker Punch timez with my ladies at Dragoncon!

I have more Dragoncon photos to share but am too excited about getting Wonder Woman studio shots back to not share at least one of them. Thank you, Benny, for these great photos! I really liked the intensity in this shot - as a character Wonder Woman would never go out without a fight and the Ame-Comi design arms her with sword and shield so I wanted to create a fighting stance pose. Undefeated!

Another image of my Juri Han cosplay that definitely needed to be done, since this is her Fuhajin (風破刃, Wind Breaking Blade) special attack stances in the game.

Juri Han <3

Ever since seeing the concept art for Super Streetfighter 4 on Juri Han in 2010, I knew she'd be one of my top favorite girl Capcom characters to date. She's evil, owns up to being a badass, and isn't too cute which I love. Gotta thank Ono San for bringing her onto SSF4!

About the cosplay:

Studying the design and also trying to find the right fabrics for this cosplay was definitely a journey in itself.

A brief blog from top to bottom will be on my site this week.

Meanwhile...

Nothing about this was shiny, or should have been, only the top. A closer look into the wig also harnessed the hardest part of making the cosplay. Each piece was designed and color matched to actual Capcom concept art. Nothing about the cosplay was skimped. I wore this cosplay as the official cosplayer for SDCC next to incredible producer Ono San so it had to be done right, or else my Street Fighter fandom would implode on itself XD I been watching a ton of Waynes World and I gotta admit, I kept on wanting to say, "IM NOT WORTHY!!!" to Ono San, he's a cool guy for sure....! more info soon! :) Thanks for coming by <3

during the shoot: body was oiled up for a sheen, and also lighting was dimmed and only the backdrop of black was used.

Photo by ROC Photography

Year made: 2010
Cons worn to: Anime Punch 2010, Anime Central 2010

-----------------------------------------------------------

This costume was rather challenging when it came to the top and her wig. I'm not a big fan of sewing collars of any kind, and this was my first time doing a collar like this one. It was absolute hell and the directions on the pattern weren't very clear. I just sort of winged it. I'm not 100% satisfied with it, but it's not too bad I suppose.

The wig was a bit simpler than I thought. I just made a extra hairpiece for her wicked widow's peak. It's made of stiff black felt with a weft of hair glued and sewn in place. It was then styled by cutting it into pointed edges then finished off with hairspray and styling glue. It simply just slips under the headband (which is just a tube of vinyl and elastic that goes around the back of my head) while the actual wig is worn a bit further back on the head to mimic the hair being pulled back.

The red shirt was just purchased at the local Goodwill.

---------------------------------------

I was supposed to wear this costume to ConComics in Mexico back in 2010, but unfortunately I wasn't able to. I've re-made a few things on this costume for that con (shorts, gloves) along with purchasing the official skull clip for the wig. I later on bought contacts and styled a new wig.

The wig is Arda Jeannie in Apple Red

I also bought OwlDepot's gun off of her (which is super lovely and perfect!) which will be shown in other pictures.

Photographer: :iconjavisean: (thx for the great shooting!)

Important: This photo was only for the lolz, because it's the stereotypical duckface and boobie thing haha, so just joking and I was not serious when posing for this shot. But in the end it looked cute somehow. Other ppl like it, I'm not quite sure about it, but I thought, I should upload it >__<

This is my latest and also last Horo costume.
It's an illustration from the Spice & Wolf artbook and I totally fell in love with it.
We had problems with the weather ;_; But the shooting was still great and the photos look wonderful. I'm so satisfied <3

I hope you're satisfied,too.
I will upload some more in the next hours/days :3

So thrilled to have another shot of Lily Rider! I simply adored that wig, it's from Fantasy Sheep and honestly one of the nicest, most manageable long wigs I've had the pleasure of wearing. Plus, the color photographs just stunningly :3
She'll be reworn at Anime Expo with a couple small things fixed up.

I'm back in the United States after 6 months abroad in Europe! It's a wonderful feeling, but also have to force myself to take things slowly with the overwhelming number of errands and responsibilities to take care of, and getting new costumes started on top.

Anyway, here's another lovely shot by Joseph of Lily Rider, I look forward to making a couple more Rider costumes this year :]

From Blade and Soul

Black...on Black....in the Black. Every photographer's worst nightmare. X__X;

Still, I love a challenge right?....ok, it's the outfit, I'll admit it, but hell, it was fun to try. ^^;

For this shot, someone was using some kind of LED light stand, but it's not a flash. So it gave a different kind of light. Usually, it's not preferred, but for the character (and the fact that she's a villain), it works! =D

Wanted to do an actual shoot, but like I said in my reports, SDCC is not a great con for photoshoots since there's so much to do......even on the last day. ^^;

Did what we could.

Normally I'm not a big Stocking fan, but my darling Giana wanted to wear these costumes and she generally prefers to cosplay Panty so I was her stocking ;3; Plus I LOVE THESE OUTFITS The manga this is from is written/drawn by Hiroyuki Imaishi, and if you hunt around google for a while you can find it translated! (I found it on tumblr once and never again ;o; ) it's really funny and the girls are even more trashy and out there than they were in the anime! I really suggest giving it a read if you can find it!
