This is a good time to be a fan of Korra. No, I can’t tell you the release date at this moment, but I can assure you the announcement will be very soon. I just wanted to clear up some of the confusion and misinformation out there. It was originally announced that Korra would premiere “sometime in 2012” which was right on track with when we’d be ready to show it. Then right before the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, Mike and I learned that the network was going to push it back to 2013, which is what we reported at the panel. That was true for a time, but plans have changed again, as they are prone to do. So although I can’t reveal the exact release date here today, I can assure you all that Nickelodeon is not delaying the series or anything of the sort.In fact, they are putting their full support behind it.

The horror of it all destroyed the trust in science, medicine and technology as the golden gateway to a harmonious and peaceful future for humanity. All that was thought to be good had been twisted to the evil purpose of a global war. A global sense of hopefulness was replaced with a global sense of fear and loathing.

Sometimes in youth we play crazy mind games. One gruesome game was trying to think of the worst way to die. Or even better, the "which would you choose" version of the same conceit. Another was what would be the worst torture to endure. If there is one international touchstone that best captures youthful fears and wonders in speculation of what lies beyond the veil of death and awaits as possible punishment for our sins, it must be - to the few who have actually read it to the millions who "know" it – "Dante's Inferno." Who does not shiver at the thought of being lost somewhere in the "Nine Rings of Hell?"

Remember RememberPeople across the pond often explain Britain's "Bonfire Night"/"Guy Fawkes Night" as the UK's version of their July 4th celebration.Remember Remember in Personal More Like This
Penchant for detonating sparking, explody things aside, they're not at all similar.
One is about a nation celebrating its independence (or the defeat of alien invaders, depending how strong your grip is on reality) the other is basically a nation trolling terrorists, rubbing their faces in failure.
That the thwarting of the November 5th gunpowder plot is remembered is arguably one of the two reasons why the Brits are universally unafraid of terrorism (the second being that Fair Blighty has faced down the largest war machines the world has ever seen. A random yahoo that wants to blow himself up is an irritant by comparison). You leave the nations of the UK alone and they fight among themselves in a 600mile long drunken brawl. However, if an outside force so much as prods them with a stick in a manner that they find remotely unpleasant, they unify

I sink hours of my time into them, so I can say with a degree of authority: modern games are complete and utter manure.
Because they're never finished.
In the race to get them out the door, and thanks in total to broadband connections, they are buggy and full of holes.
You never get a complete game for the huge sum of money you're expected to pay for them.
Case in point: Borderlands 2.
I've just encountered a bug that renders a mission impossible to complete (The "Get to know Jack" mission), meaning I won't be able to fully complete the game ..not that I could anyway, because the game I own isn't actually finished.
When was the last time any of us bought a title that didn't contain huge chunks missing, held back for the sake of DLC?
Well, I didn't buy any for Borderlands (so I've no idea who the f**k Moxxi is or why I should give

In my little corner of the world, things like fraud and corruption regularly bubble to the surface, usually by way of the media. The police investigate and the offending politician is, more often than not, destroyed. Possibly literally, as they're not usually heard from again, but more likely because the parties distance themselves from the offending moron, who was stupid enough to misbehave while the public gaze was upon them.
The parties use incidents like that to discredit their rivals and question their abilities to govern.
Occasionally an irrelevant element of a politician's personal life will crop up as the focus of a jibe, but it's never seen as anything more than that. Using, say, a harmless hobby to try and smear someone in Parliament would be seen as monumentally petty.

Only a handful of those, however, can I refer to as being "good". Or even "tolerable".
Having watched them for most of my life, going back to things like Mysterious Cities of Gold and the original Astro Boy, I can say with a certain degree of authority that: Japanese storytelling is a bit wank. Daring and dynamic visuals, sure. Crap narrative.
And it can't ALL be blamed on "bad translation".
There's a wide range of gripes to be had, but chief among them these days is that the major characters, those who one would assume you're to root for, across however many episodes the series consists of, are generally complete and utter dicks.
I'm currently wading through Gurren Lagann, a series which people have raved about for a while but which I'd not had the chance to watch until now (spoiler approaching, should you be in the same boat).

Derpy became such a huge phenomenon online that the producers decided to include her in more episodes for Season 2. The capper to all this was when Derpy got a speaking role in an episode and was referred to AS Derpy by Rainbow

Ode to the WiiMy last journal seems to have gone over pretty well. So since the Wii is slowly starting to come to a close before Nintendo's next big console release (The Wii U), I thought it would be fun to talk about games which are for the Wii and which might've been overlooked for one reason or another.Ode to the Wii in Personal More Like This
It should be noted that not ALL of these are the most AMAZING and BEST GAMES EVER! But I do think that at least 90% of these games should at least be looked at. If you have a Wii and complain that it doesn't have any games that interest you, I strongly recommend you go through this list. If you see a game you haven't heard about or played, rent it and try it out for yourself. There are a lot of gems which didn't get any press or were generally overlooked because of excessive amounts of "shovel-ware" titles clouding up retail stores.
The general perception of the Wii is that there aren't any good games for it. Prove the naysayers wrong and check these titles out. The best part? Most of these titles
Proving your Geek CreedNerds all share a unified experience of being socially ostracized from the rest of other so-called "normal" societal groups. The reasons may vary (not being good at sports, liking a certain sci-fi/fantasy TV show, etc), but the fact that we all were picked upon and marginalized during our most formable years is a major part of the nerd/geek identity. But in recent years nerd culture stopped being it's own niche thing, and has started to seep into mainstream culture. Making nerd culture more accessible has naturally brought with it a new group of people and fans into our sphere... and not everyone is happy about this development.Proving your Geek Creed in Personal More Like This

And while that's a nice thought that sounds logical at first... any causal observer to gaming and most media today will be able to recognize that the two sides are not equal enough to make that sort of comparison. Here's the difference as I see it: Men are objectified and sexualized, yes, but it's not done for women. It's done for men. The objectification of men in gaming and other media is a self image fantasy FOR men. In other words, both the objectification of men and women are done for the benefit of men.
Not only that but again a casual observer will note that the standards of "beauty" are not at all equal on both sides. Female heros are all designed to be attractive, sexy, thin, sensual, pure,

So, like many, I think the Nintendo 2DS is pretty stupid. But where others go on to criticize Nintendo and screaming bloody murder, I chose to just let it slide because the Nintendo 2DS isn't meant for me so I don't really care one way or the other.
See this is the problem I see with people who bitch and moan about Nintendo. They treat every single announcement like it somehow personally affects them, when usually it's an OPTIONAL thing they don't have to even deal with. Remember during the casual vs hardcore wars of the Wii era and people decrying Nintendo for adding the option to let Luigi play a level of NSMBWii if you failed too many times? Brilliant idea that ensures that players that work at it succeed and never see the option, and players that are duly frustrated after dying X number of times are allowed to still proceed but at a cost. But nope, that announcement was treated a

1. Never offer artistic advice or hint at the possibility that the way young and inexperienced groups of artists work might in some way be flawed.
2. Every comic must be inherently drawn better and be funnier than the last.
3. Humor is NOT relative/subjective.
4. Nothing is funny. Ever.
5. Even the most trivial aspects of your comic must be taken 100% seriously.
6. Failure to incorporate conflicting suggestions for improvement = incapable of accepting criticism.

Objectification vs Sexuality? That Tropes vs Women in Gaming Part 2 video sure has brought on a lot of serious discussions hasn't it? I don't mean to keep wading deeper into all this, but one question begs another and this is something I'm really curious about: What's the difference between objectification... and just being sexy?Objectification vs Sexuality? in Personal More Like This
For me this is a really tough question to answer. Speaking as a heterosexual male it's a bit of a double standard. On the one hand, objectification of women and the constant sexualization of women in the majority of media around us is, I think, overwhelmingly bad for us as a society (and I've talked at great length about this subject in the past). But on the other hand there's absolutely nothing wrong with being attracted to women or finding them sexy. Speaking from a male perspective of course, this concept can be applied to how both men and women see things.
I think our tendency to over simplify things is why so many people don't take feminists seriously, because the

Truth is, I Actually Hate Art.I knew it was going to happen eventually, but it still irks me when a site like KnowYourMeme.com posts a video to one of the more shameful bits of art school semantics called "Interior Semiotics."Truth is, I Actually Hate Art. in Personal More Like This
In a nutshell, it's a video performance of a female student rubbing rancid Spaghetti-O's over her body, into her genitals, and then urinating into the can. Now, insane is as insane does, and we can't really judge a person's character when they are clearly messed up as all in the head. But the thing that makes this video especially disgusting, particularly nauseating, is the crowd's reaction.
Oh right. There's a crowd watching.
The debate has raged on for the longest time as to whether something is or isn't art. The way I see it, by declaring something isn't art, it has automatically been made into art. Art is supposed to instigate thinking, debate, opinion, and/or alternative perception of a subject. By contemplating the artist

I took those words, and posted them on the Internet for thousands to read, thousands to judge me by, and even left the door open for thousands to potentially drop a comment about how sour a turn my life must've taken to have consciously confessed to the Internet, with my real first and last name adorning the top of my dA page, that I actually had aspirations and ambitions to writing fanfiction for My Little Pony. Now whenever a future employer does a background check on me, they will learn that I was so moved by a show made for little girls that for the first time in my life I wanted to write fanfiction for it. &

The dog's face is a mess, blood running down his lips, the fur over his head is matted down and covered in mud, and he is rearing and shaking his head madly while batting at his teeth with his claws. He's not rabid. Thank God.
But what's completely wrecking him, causing him to bleed so much from

Lego is caricature.Lego is caricature. in Personal More Like This
Just posted this piece and it strikes me how working with lego can basically be caricature.
Making a model that looks EXACTLY like an object is akin to photography - the brain does no work other than object recognition.
"Yes. That is a ________." (insert object/animal/person/building here)
But when you use lego, you are taking a limited elemental palette and building a representation that may not have the exact dimensions and matching details, but the brain does a little gymnastics and the a-ha moment kicks in.
I think that is the major appeal of lego.
Using a bunch of generic elements to emphasize the details which identify the thing you are portraying and having others recognize it as well.
Going with the flow. The recent death of Moebius had made me nostalgic and think about all the famous artists I have met and talked to... by accident.Going with the flow. in Personal More Like This
Let me clarify.
You can go to conventions and signings to specifically meet an artist, but there is something memorable about meeting them with no expectations or plan - in short, by accident.
I am normally a very shy person who tends to over think things. If I have an appointment or plan to meet someone well-known, I have the habit of planning too much and getting my expectations so high that I am guaranteed to feel disappointed afterwards.
So accidentally meeting someone you admire is so freeing and thus incredibly memorable - and a few times loved the art but did not put a name and face to it until after you met them in person.
One trip to SDCC was especially memorable because of three of these accidental meetings...
As I was roaming the con floor I happened to look over at some scraggly bearded fellow with a portfolio full of Ada

Most of my IRL close acquaintances and friends always ask me "Rob, why you work so much? Why don't you go out with us like you used to?" "Man, we used to hoop all the time dude, when are we getting back to the court?"
My response usually consists of "I... just got things to do." And I do. I'm practically at the computer almost 18 hours a day, hacking away at the game. When my wife gets home, I spend a couple hours with her until she goes to sleep, and then I finish up whatever work until I hit the sack.
Then they'd be the ones to go on how much they hate their job. Actually, its pretty funny: One of my closest dudes has an artistic background in music. He could be killing it in the indie scene even; he's a very talented dude. But man, he's dealing with chick-o-drama, always spending his free time (now on GTA5) playing games or going to the bar, and then have the audacity to go on how much he hate his jo
Why I Draw Women OftenI recently got a message, and I will slightly reword it so as not to cause profane friction, nor will I state who it came from, but it read like this: "Why is everything you post regarding a woman? I think it's very sexist when the only thing you can draw are breasts and buttocks like it's the only thing in the world."Why I Draw Women Often in Personal More Like This
Okay, so by now, if you haven't been watching me for a good minute, you know that I really like to draw women, and I like portraying the female form, usually and often in a tasteful manner. I could hypothetically end that question there and just answer "I wasn't aware everything in my gallery was a woman or had breasts and a butt" and then post a picture or two of Rai Rivet... But I'm not going to do that. I'm going to explain my stance on drawing the female form and my adoration for it.

I didn't loathe at myself wishing that I could "draw feet" when working on a piece at the spot where I have to draw feet on the picture.
I didn't go to further schooling to let someone hand me a piece of paper on their own terms and timeframe telling me if I'm "capable of art" or not.
I took things into my own hands.
A couple of common phrases to make to artists who are (of the person who believes that they're) "inexplicably too good" that annoy me are:
"Ugh, I really wish I had your talent. Why are you so good!?"
"You're so lucky. I wish I could do what you do".
"I could never pull this off the way you pull it off."
Now, I understand that there are certain levels of aptitudes and paces that different people learn by, so don't get the idea of this entry wrong. But, really, let me make an illustration here:

Fiction. How redundant is it pointing out these following statements?Fiction. in Personal More Like This
There's no such thing as a gigantic mechanical robot fighting off alien monsters. There has never been a report of a man being bitten by a radioactive spider and becoming a hero. You can't summon a mini-tornado at your own beck-n-call, don't matter how much into the occult you are. The odds of a young male teenager having a harem of sexy girls at his every turn is nil. There aren't bipeds of animals that are supposed to be quadrupeds flying spaceships in the galaxy above us. You can't legally hunt and catch thousands of different animals and use them to protect you from other animals and people in a sports-like venue. You can't eat a flower and ignite fire from your hands.
I can go on and on... this journal is probably being expressed because of recent built-up distaste for people bullying others because of what they like when it comes to fiction.
Just to reestablish what it even means, here it is, straight

I began working pretty heavily on LMS during the first quarter of 2009. I had now a handful of characters, a rough idea of the story, and a general scope of what I wanted the book to be. To get started, I felt every book should have a theme. Movies do, right?

THE NEXT THREE YEARS OF MY LIFE
I had received a job offer at Microsoft. I guess this could have been one of my first 'big time' jobs, so I was a little ecstatic. It felt like a slow build to get to this point, after numerous indie games and under the table freelance jobs, but finally it had come.
I was working with my now best friend and business partner, Stephan, a suave German who I had met only a year or so prior. He had brought me into the fray, working with several other individuals who will, well, simply be known as individuals for privacy sake.
But yes, finally, I could put a professional company I

So I stuck to it, and thankfully it took me to heights I'd have never imagined possible. Now with my new book Redemption heading off to studios soon for a hopeful movie package, I can't wait to see where this new road takes me.
That said, there's something else that tops all of this.
The other night I went out to visit my girlfriend's cousin and her family. Incredibly kind people with very sweet kids. Other than the two parents, there were 3 kids, but the one who caught my interest was the eight-year old boy, Diego.
Diego, shy, tiny, slender, reminded me of myself when I was his a
