Goji straightened up a bit and his fists clenched tighter. "Because, last night, he woke up from one. He was crying and screaming." His eyes flared brighter for a moment and his voice became darker. "He never cries. Never."
Boss, still looking laid back and calm, inhaled softly. "And your point?"
Goji leaned forward and placed his hands on the desk, his face only a breath away from his uncle's. "I never want to see him like that again. Stop giving him Nightmares."

She sighed and set her pen down and flexed her fingers, trying to rid of the stiffness. The only light in the room was her desk lamp and the full moon that hovered outside the enormous window that her chair sat against. Sheila looked into the cage, grimacing. The monsters were some of the most disgusting things she had ever seen. They were all black and each were coated in a blanket of slime. There were about twenty all jammed into the cage, pressed together. He growled and got out of bed, his bare feet crackling with static a little as they hit the floor. He grabbed a shirt hanging on the bed post and shoved it on, ignoring the fact that it was inside out, and went out of the room.
No one was up. Typical. No one was ever awake when he wanted to be. Sighing, he quietly made his way to the kitchen and made a quick cup of coffee. Making sure he wasn't waking anyone, he walked into the living room and plopped down in a chair. Taking a strong gulp of the crappy, instant coffee, he looked to the ceiling and closed his eyes.
He needed to get a grip. Recently, a lot of his nightmares had been focused on Alisa. Far too many of them. He didn't want to admit it, but he really wanted her to hold his hand while he slept, like she asked to do. Maybe then, he could actually get a good night's sleep.
Through Envious EyesWhen we first turned our sights to the planet just sunward of us, we sought to gain it through peaceful means. We thought, perhaps, that if we greeted the humans with politeness and pleasant demeanors, we would be able to negotiate a settlement plan. We found that the land masses the humans call Great Britain, Greenland, and Iceland, and the upper part of North America would be more than satisfactory for our people (as, by our nature, we prefer colder climates), while the warmer areas would have made our stay on the planet even more uncomfortable. We would have devised a way to live peacfully with the humans; we would, of course, require a food stock, but we were confident that the humans would be willing to supply us with members of their own kind. We noticed there seemed to be some sort of racial prejeduce between certain groups of humans; indeed, the darker skinned humans seemed to be deemed inferior to the lighter skinned. Perhaps we would have been given the dark ones.Through Envious Eyes in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

He opened his eyes and looked at his hands. They were not the hands of an Adonis, true, but they were fresh and younger, lacking the wrinkles and veins of old age. He flexed his fingers, watching them move fluidly. All traces of joint arthritis, which was just barely beginning to show itself, had burned in the fires of renewal.

Few people love all the time. No one is, I'd say. I've met my fair share of people who, in my book, wouldn't even deserve the label of descent. But I tried to rise above that. I told myself over and over that I could forgive these people.
The people I've met throughout my life thus far have been one of two things: good and not good. I do not account for any type of "bad" or "evil" because no matter how much I protest it to my parents, I am still a child. And I am naive. That's not for you,
That's never going to be for you!
But you know what,
You've got something else inside of you.
You've got something else,
That no one who sits on a lofty throne could ever have.
And that's pain...
You're in pain, because you know this is bitter.
You're in pain, because you've been denied something better.
But you take that dose of bitterness
And you swallow it like it's god-damn medicine!

The king expects you to lie down and surrender.
So play dead if you have to,
But when you rise again...

It began with but a simple command, "to do as we are told".
Never to deviate from this path - never to nurture the soul.
We are told that we are given a purpose; "a part of something great!"
Yet why oh why am I so weary of that which is my fate?
Am I an error, a single anomaly, unable to feel intact?
Or am I missing some special attribute - a facet which I lack.
In a society made of fleshed machines; robots wearing skin,
Perhaps I'm simply seeking something, to fill this metal tin.

Such a simple word, spewed without thought.
"I wish you'd die, I wish you'd be killed."
But what if we actually gave meaning to those words?
Can you understand the emotion, the magnitude, the weight,
Of actually seeing the life of an individual depart?
Can you look them in the eyes, as they bleed into your hands;
Observing their final moments, as the light fades from their eyes?
Or are you simply a soft-hearted coward,
Sitting fat behind a computer, wishing death upon others?
To say that one is deserving of death,

And if indeed you are ready to kill,
Then you too must be prepared to die.

As soon as I walk up, the staircase vanishes. I hear a strange noise and turn around to see a black green monster. It was about as tall as me, but slightly taller. With first glance, it splits into two. Yet, the two parts became two of the first monster. Then suddenly, they jump me.
I see the monsters being thrown away by a strange force coming from me. I look around to see a sword laying in front of me. Not knowing what to do, I pick it up. I swing it around with great ease only to find it has a strange feeling, like it's moving itself. Now armed with a weapon, I lunge at the enemies. Yet, with each slach, i

Deciding to let go of her doubts and fears, she began using her powers to their fullest...inadvertently making an eternal winter. To make matters worse, Chernabog attacked and made everyone except the two sisters disappear. The sisters were then cursed to become battle-crazed berserkers.
The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch 5The ground shook as the Skarath horde charged passed derelict forklifts and cranes. A hail of laser, plasma and guided missiles came to meet them, cutting them down in the dozens as bodies, both whole and in pieces, rained around them but this did nothing the stop the Skarath. The incoming enemy fire did nothing to discourage them, the walls and shipping containers that littered the location they simply climbed over, the dead piled at their feet were trampled with little regard and the army of blue metal struck no fear into them. The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch 5 in Science Fiction More Like This
The Skarath bio-missiles struck several stacks of shipping containers, throwing them in front of the mass of pseudo-insectoids as intended. The gun toting Skarath used them as cover and supported their more melee oriented brethren as they charged over and around. The doors of several shipping containers around the machine army burst open; revealing Skarath armed with heavy machine guns and bio-missile launchers, who quickly opened fire at the droids as they du
The Palcriss 4 Campaigns CH 1The wind howled, kicking up ash and dust in its wake and creating a thick cloud over the streets. Taking advantage of the situation, seven figures stalked out from the respective hiding places into the cover of the dust. Obscured from prying eyes, they weaved their around the strange metal devices that littered the street. Ten meters further and they would reach their destination, however before they could reach it, the wind died down and the ash and dust began to settle. The lead figure, wearing some kind of gas mask, immediately slumped against a rusting hulk he only barely knew was called a 'car'. The others quickly followed in his footsteps and after a brief hand signal, began cloaking themselves. The Palcriss 4 Campaigns CH 1 in Science Fiction More Like This
Using a brief electronic shock from the amputated muscles of a spider-eel, their cloaks promptly matched the grays and whites of the environment. The leader peered over the dead machine and spotting no one gave out a signal to move forward. Half of the clo
The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch 7A hail of metallic rain fell to the earth like a shower of meteors, a mix of debris and pods from the Ascending Order. The escape/drop pods pierced through the cloud cover like knifes through butter. Machine flak tore through many of the pods, igniting them like fireworks. The spaces within the black pod were dark; Mercer along with many other soldiers was crammed within the small space, strapped in place by webbing and braces. The only light came from a small red bulb, which flickered as the pod shook violently either by turbulence or glancing flak. The pod shuddered for a moment as it tried to slow itself as it neared the ground. Suddenly there was a great crash, the pod dented inwards and began to rotate violently as more dents appeared before one final smash. The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch 7 in Science Fiction More Like This
The aforementioned red light began to flicker back to life as Mercer regained consciousness. The door was partially imploded; apparently it had hit something rather hard on the way down. The rest of the pods occupa

Lt. Brax was not having a good day. First; he wakes up to find that their serving his least favorite for breakfast, second; Cpl. Farrell replaced his tooth paste with hot sauce, third; the ship was attacked and destroyed and fourth and final; him and his boys were now stranded on the world they were sent to reinforce. Just great. He glanced at troops who were hauling three mobile shield generators as he pulled a pair of binoculars. The orbital dump had ceased minutes ago and the machine army, or at least what was left of it, was starting to mobilize to his position. He watched grimly from his position atop his tank Scrap Maker as the machine tanks and infantry started to move over the heated terrain. Come on! If you dont hurry, were going to be cannon fodder! he yelled to his men. Gizza chance! The things bloody heavy and these gits aint helpin! someone shoute
The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch6Shipping containers were thrown into the air, Skarath who werent blown apart were sent running in all directions and what was left of the massacred droid army rallied together to defend the future landing zones of their reinforcements as the merciless machine artillery blasted apart the environment. Oil, blood, and cordite filled the air in an unholy stench. Even the Skarath Harbingers were driven from their quickly collapsing tunnels by the fury of the counter-attack.The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch6 in Science Fiction More Like This
The Skarath war brood was sent into disarray, Sevurak stood in the middle of the disorganized horde, frantically trying to regain order. The Skarath radio signals were jammed and chemicals were released into the area to disable their pheromones. As of the now, the Skaraths last heard order was to retreat towards the main storage bunkers and regroup. Many groups of Skarath, however, were either incapable of retreating due to bombardment or never received the order and were now fighting to death against machine
The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch 4The machine convoy plowed its way through an abandoned bus, the large transport units were like giant rectangular grey lighters on their sides that were floating several feet off the ground. There were six in total and guarding them were twelve machine light tanks, two for every transport. The tanks were essentially large droids with a double barreled plasma cannon replacing one arm and a wrist mounted machine gun on the other, but instead of legs it was supported by a repulser lifts. The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch 4 in Science Fiction More Like This
The convoy had originally been heading towards the Northern power station to support the siege when Hierarchy forces routed them and were giving chase. Several bio-missiles, large organic foot balls with tentacles, nearly made contact with the machine carriers; it was like they werent even trying to hit them. Either way, the machines convoy made a left and rammed turn through a building as Skarath tank hunters tore themselves from the earth in an ambush. Their explosive tipped crossbows

The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch 3The light in the briefing room were dark and was slowly flickering back to life; everyone was back on the floor from the recent strikes against the communication array and the engines. Mercer peeled himself off the floor, a trail of blood going down his face from a cut on his forehead. Major Karen was already back on her feet currently leaning against the flickering holo-podium. Anyone not dead, sound off! she ordered. A symphony of groans, Im oks and moans of pain filled the room. Sev was at the far end of the room trying to pry the door open, the sound of other Irkens trying to help on the other side. The Palcriss 4 Campaigns ch 3 in Science Fiction More Like This

Fall of Ignotus Ch1 Of the mysteries that grew in the wake of the Second Machine War, one of the most well-known is the Enigma of Ignotus, the Ghost Planet. The planet Ignotus was a small, remote farming world located far from the frontlines, whose only role during the War was to assist in supplying food rations to the Alliance's hungry soldiers. During the final years of the War, when the fighting was at its hardest, the planet Ignotus' mandatory tithes to the War effort began to shrink more and more until they stopped completely along with all contact with the planet. An Imperial investigation was mounted as to discern the cause for the planet's sudden loss of contact only to make a most horrifying and enigmatic discovery; the entire planet of Ignotus was found completely barren, it's ocean gone, it's atmosphere almost non-existent, it's surface stripped to the bedrock, and it's entire population of fifty-three million missing. The only evidence found was a phrase carved onto the planet's surfFall of Ignotus Ch1 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The Palcriss 4 Campaigns CH 8Lord Captain Aztrael stalked the deck of the Validus. Aztrael was different from most Skarath; his head was smaller and less toothy then most, his arms were much thinner and both his hands lacked a finger, and he lacked the second pair of arms all Skarath had. Most noticeably different of all were his legs, he had four spider-like legs that jutted out from under his robe in an almost menacing way. All in all, he appeared much like the Skarath ambassador Sevuri, though he lacked both the friendly appearance and attitude; he was also much thicker around the abdomen, a classic sign of a Skarath spacer, one who probably hasnt felt real gravity or real earth for decades. The Palcriss 4 Campaigns CH 8 in Science Fiction More Like This
Lord Captain Aztrael looked down on the operators monitoring his vessel-mount, a Leviathan hes had since it was a Kraken, from a raised platform in the middle of the room. He checked a nearby monitor. Everything seemed to be in order; he looked out of a nearby view port, one of three that
