View above Botnar Hut during the Laugavegur trek in my Workshop in Iceland . June 2011 - 20-29

There's an unspeakable feeling floating around .. This was almost night , a sort of long blue hour with ominous clouds and a very quiet atmosphere . I was standing in front of this Immense glacier , quite close to the Eyjafjallajökull volcano .. Covered with layers of Ashes ..

The upper part of the image (left mountain) appeared as a painting to me ( strange texture ) without any photoshop treatment .

I've used a 70-200 mm F4 L IS with ND grad filter . Warm white balance .

Near 'Botnar' Hut , located in 'Ermstur' Valley .

200m High canyon in this surreal moss landscape . I tried to stand in front of the picture to show you the size of the place but it's quite difficult to realize .
You can also see other people from the workshop on the next hill .

A picture of the Mont Blanc, from Cheserys lake, by a cold morning of June...
Calm and serenity for this well known place of French Alps. Loved the reflection of this pale morning light over the Mont Blanc, and the little "gold vein" on the rock in the foreground :)

...No wind...

Morning light on the south face of Mont Blanc in Alps, after a cold night near this unnamed lake...
Unfortunately, the sky was a bit empty, with no clouds, but there was also no wind so I could get this reflection...

Hello
I've turned this picture in higher resolution to appreciate the frost patterns in the foreground... I've also slightly improved the contrast in this new version.

I took this photo at the begining of march in the Vercors mountains in french alps... I was waiting for the sunset near the cliffs of Font d'Urle... I loved how the light illuminated the frost lines, guiding the eyes to the valley.
It was a magical light for my birthday sunset... The best present Nature could offer. :)

Lomagnupur
Iceland

This shot was taken just before our penultimate weekend in Iceland in 2010. The whole night had been washed out with rain and most of the morning. But toward the end of the stormy weather, the sun peeked through the clouds giving rise to this rainbow which lasted for several hours as we made our way with Orvar to Jokulsarlon. This specific mountain is located in the south east of Iceland nearing the approach to Skaftafell National Park.

Annapurna South
Nepal

One of the most popular walks in the Annapurna region is the walk to Poon Hill and Ghorepani for views of the Annapurna Range and Dhauligiri. Our walk to the Annapurna Base Camp detoured past this spot where the clouds obscured most of the view but when the mountains came into sight, it was nothing short of breathtaking. With the distant mountains towering several kilometers above our altitude, carrying the tripod and long lenses and extender was well worth the extra weight.

Annapurna South
Nepal

This image is taken as deep as you can wander into the Annapurna Mountains without having to technically climb. It is located at the so called Annapurna Sanctuary which takes 5-7 days of hiking and plenty of climbing and descents. In the Sanctuary, you stand dwarfed by mountains at least 7000m surrounding you. Simply a humbling experience. There is a small village here simply called Annapurna Base Camp though nowadays, there aren't actually too many climbers. The ice wall is the Annapurna South Glacier. At the time, we had dramatic weather with mists blowing up the valley and across the mountain tops.

The only sound up there today was the whisper of the creeks flowing into the lake. The glacier is lost in the fog.

Magical new location I found whilst exploring the headlands of Emerald Beach, NSW Australia. This cave cuts right through the headland and out the other side. This photo doesn't exactly do it justice, however I plan on going back when the tides low and the lights right. I'm hoping for a sunrise if the tide decides to cooperate with me...

Low tide exposed some interesting rocks and plantation, while sunset provided the vivid hues. Taken at the main beach of Port Macquarie, Australia.

"Purple Haze"

Plans fell through for me to get a shot I was hoping for so went to plan B. Watching full moon rise over the east side. Arriving there I had never shot in this area so was scouting around for a good spot when I found this little set of rocks. The round 'egg' types made a great frame but needed to get higher up to get the perspective. Luckily there was a big tree/stump that had washed up. After about 5 minutes of figuring out how to get my tripod to stay there I was able to shoot.

10stop filter. 3 min exposure (messed the first one up so was determined to get the time right!), 2stop hard GND

Thanks!

Hoping a plane over to Oahu I called up Christopher Cook Photography and suggested a shoot over at Shark Cove on the north shore. He ablidged with a ride and off we went. I had seen a photo of the area and thought it had great potential...I was not let down. The rocky outcroppings are strewn with an incredible array of texture and opportunity. Walking out on the edge (only possible during low surf) I found this cascade that would fill up as the waves washed over the rocky ledge way in the background and then pour over the rock. Of course to get this perspective I had to stand on a rock while the water rushed past me, had the camera 2 feet above the surge and then a 10 foot deep pool directly behind me. Fun! (and a bit scary).

Technically I was having a hell of a time. My filters were not completely clean, my release hit the water and wasnt very happy and of course the splashing on the lens I had to get rid of. All in all I was able to use the 3stop Reverse GND filter to hold back the sky and get everything in one exposure. Got REALLY lucky with the perfect cloud over head too. Thank you cloud.

Thanks as always for the critique and comments!

Great Falls National Park, VA. This is a location along the Potomac I have been waiting to capture for many years. Finally got the right combination of water level, clouds and light to make it happen. Taken on Sunday morning at sunrise.

This image represents the ancient rhythm of sea and moon cycle captured at Second Beach on Olympics wild coast. I waited until an hour after sunset for the moon to set in between the sea stacks. The tide at this point was receding and allowed me to capture a breaking wave at the base of the bonsai sea stack. There was still a beautiful pink glow in the clouds mixing with twilight blues that lasted until almost 11pm that night. Amazing place, amazing experience!
