Too Shy for a Rainbow Epilogue
"Okay, so what're some things we both like doing?" Rainbow asked looking at a blank sheet of paper.
"W-Well I really like watching you practice." Fluttershy thought.
"And I always like showing off." Rainbow said writing down 'Flight practice' on the paper.
"You really like my cooking so dinners are always an option." Fluttershy said while thinking about possible new recipes to try for Rainbow Dash.
"Full bellies, check." Rainbow said writing down 'Dinner' on the paper.
"Uhm we both like hanging out with our friends, going to Pinkie Pie's parties and getting a good sleep." Fluttershy listed off the most obvious things first.
"Check, check and check." Rainbow said listing off 'Hanging out', 'Parties' and 'Napping'.
"Uhm " Fluttershy said tapping her chin thoughts, "How do you feel about the weather you make for Ponyville?"
"Well, I love having a good thunderstorm! Flying past lightning as it strikes is one of the most intense things ever! The wind and rain in

Fluttershy panted heavily as she lay on the cloud. Her wings were sore and her energy was low. She wasn't sure how much longer she could keep this up, it was exhausting her.
"Are you finished already? We've barely gotten any flying in today!" Rainbow sighed, hovering over the tired Fluttershy.
"I'm sorry " Fluttershy squeaked as she shakily got up onto all four hooves again.
"You're never going to keep your grades up if you don't get into better shape." Rainbow said flying down and forcing her on to her feet, spreading her wings and getting her into a flight stance, much to Fluttershy's dismay. "Okay, give me another speed lap around the loops. And GO." Rainbow yelled out before blowing on a whistle.
Fluttershy let out a soft cry before flying forward as quickly as he wings could carry her. Her wings had developed early and grown larger, but they weren't very strong despite that. Rainbow could only groan at Fluttershy's top speed, not even being a third of what she could

The crowd cheered as the final words were spoken. With a quick movement of the hooves a sea of hats flew into the air. Music played loudly through the entire auditorium as hugs and cheers were spread far and wide. Some were crying, some were laughing, and some could only just smile broadly.
Fluttershy's hat sat, still adorned to her head. She let out a soft sigh. It was graduation day from Flight School. She had barely passed, her flying skills were nothing impressive, but they were enough that the school deemed her ready to face the world. But despite that, she couldn't feel happy.
The one pony she had hoped would be there cheering her on, that would be in the stands praising her for how much she had accomplished wasn't there. She hadn't heard a single word from Rainbow in over a year and she had given up hope that she would hear from the hero that had saved her from failing a long time ago.
The crowd around her began to fan out, heading into the stands to meet with family a

"Hey Rainbow Dash." Fluttershy flew over to her friend who was sitting on the cloud edge of the Flight School, "Aren't we going to have a training session soon? We haven't had one in a long time now "
Rainbow Dash, who had been lying with her hooves crossed and head resting on her legs, lifted her head up and turned to look at Fluttershy. Rainbow had a dull, bored look on her face, before looking back out from the edge of the cloud, looking out into the blue sky and green land far beneath the clouds.
"What's the point? You've pretty much reached how good you're going to get." Rainbow sighed, laying her head back against her hooves.
"O-Oh " Fluttershy rubbed her leg awkwardly, "But the sessions helped me so much back during our first Flight Camp together and they've been helping me keep up with my grades since we've been in school I don't know how well I'd fair without them "

"Hey, are you down here?" Came the cracking voice of a developing Pegasus as she flew down from the cloud city of Cloudsdale.
Fluttershy's ear perked up as she looked up at the sky from the ground, the animal friends that had gathered around her beginning to move away, returning to their lives before she had arrived.
"There you are." The rainbow haired Pegasus said landing on the ground next to the skinny-legged yellow Pegasus, "What're you doing down here? You missed the whole race! Which I won, of course!" The Rainbow Pegasus back flipped in the air before landing on the ground next to her.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm not a very good flyer so when I fell I panicked and wasn't able to stop myself but the animals down here stopped my fall. I helped them out for their kindness, and look," Fluttershy stood up and turned her body so the rainb

The cool fall air sent a breeze through Fluttershy's mane as she slowly walked through the streets of Ponyville. Winter would be here soon, the streets would be covered in the beautiful blanket of white snow that embraced it every year. This was always one of her favorite times of the year, when everything was quiet and calm, the soft chill giving the world a sort of serene beauty. Even though most animals would be hibernating for the winter leaving her without much work, she always spent her time simply admiring the beauty the landscapes had to offer.
She felt a constant sense of awe in the simple wonders of the world this time of year, the way the leaves would change colors from their luscious green to the beautiful harmony of reds, oranges and yellows. The air would almost always have a wonderful smell to it as somepony would have a small fire going, or perhaps would be wood roasting some new savory dish or even the simple crisp air that nature provided.

"I still don't think this is such a good idea." Fluttershy hesitated as she followed Rarity, who looked more like she was openly prowling than searching.
"Nonsense Fluttershy, we have everything that we'll need to properly find out what Rainbow Dash is up to." Rarity said mulling through things in her mind, "All we have to do is catch a simple glimpse of our elusive target and then we can track her." Rarity took another glimpse around the sky, "Fluttershy darling, why don't you fly up and see if you can spot her?"

When Rainbow Dash returned from the Wonderbolt's audition, it was cause for celebration.
She had passed her audition; her lifelong dream had finally come true. Her training would begin one week after Winter Wrap Up. True to form, Pinkie threw a party to celebrate. It was a small one though, as the real celebration was right around the corner and they would need all the resources they could spare for it. It promised to be a truly monumental celebrat

The dance floor was done up with a disco flare, flashing lights to raving music played as Pinkie passed records to the music host of the reception. The white unicorn with messy blue hair was very good at getting the guests to get up and dance. Of course the recently married couple were on the floor quite often as the guests of honor, Rarity constantly worrying about the state of Fluttershy's dress.
"Ugh, it's hard to believe what passes for recreational music these days." Octavia groaned over her wine glass. "It's nothing more than a loud ruckus to flashing lights." She sipped the red liquid gracefully.

It was decided that the wedding would be held the day after first snow fall, meaning the wedding would be held in two weeks' time. It didn't take long for the news of the wedding to be spread throughout Ponyville. Rarity had made a fuss about the suddenness of the date, but Rainbow explained that after her Wonderbolts audition she wanted to spend every possible moment with Fluttershy before she went off to her training. This seemed to pacify Rarity and Rainbow left for her audition the next morning.
For the small town of Ponyville weddings weren't that common despite the amount of relationships the town seemed to harbor. It seemed most ponies enjoyed the simple dating scene over making that final step of commitment, but whenever a couple did make that decision it was news the whole town heard about. The only sound that could be heard in Fluttershy's house was the very faint, very soft sound of sobs. Even the animals had grown quiet, as if in understanding of Fluttershy's plight. Ponyville was blanketed by a thick but even layer of soft snow, shimmering with the light of Luna's moon. It was truly a beautiful sight one that even Rarity would stare open jawed at. Rainbow smirked as her eyes took in the view, it was truly a masterpiece from Ponyville's master weather pony. Suddenly Rainbow quivered as an ice-cold lance of wind tore through her soft coat. 'Oh, right the cold.' She laughed lightly as she looked up, the grand creation of clouds filled the sky as a calming blanket, though it wasn't the type of blanket Rainbow truly wanted as she flapped her freezing wings for the final time, gently lowering herself onto a wooden beam. Usually she would dive down landing in a spectacular fashion, but even Rainbow's arrogance knew it's limits carefully stopping on the slippery frozen beam. Applejack thought back to the first time she made this journey, with her lover on her back walking home from the party, she remembered how unsure she felt of herself, of Fluttershy. Trixie found the days passed by quickly and peacefully from there. She began to develop a routine. By the time she awoke Fluttershy was making breakfast, typically oatmeal, a warm and filing meal that started the day right. Trixie would take her mornings easy, still recuperating. She had gotten her books back from Twilight, and would review them, often in the garden if the weather held. She would then usually accompany Fluttershy into town in the afternoon, having lunch with her or just taking the chance to stretch her legs. She began to fill out little by little, her coat gleamed once more, and she regained her former energy. Only one thing stood between her and true health. That was why, nearly a week since her first visit, Trixie found herself in the Ponyville library again, Twilight Sparkle staring at her.

There was only the dull light of the pre-dawn to go by, but the purple pony was clearly completely out of sorts. "But," Pinkie said, "What if she likes you too?" She remembered the day Rainbow told her she was in love with Fluttershy. Rainbow had returned from a picnic with Fluttershy and looked sad. When Pinkie asked her what was bothering her, Rainbow swore her to secrecy and told her that she was in love with Fluttershy. Pinkie was stunned and asked if she told her and she began to cry. Fluttershy looked down slightly embarrassed, "well, my cheering is too weak, so I thought if Rainbow Dash could see how much I support her it would make up for it."
"Well, given the thought you put into this, I'm certain she will appreciate it." Rarity continued to sew and then after a few minutes, "there, it is finally finished."
"Yay," Fluttershy hugged Rarity, "thank you very much. I can't wait to show Rainbow." She packed the items into her saddlebags and made her way out of the boutique. On her way out she passed Sweetie Belle, "how are your plans coming along, Sweetie Belle?"
The white unicorn filly looked up from her coloring, "oh, hi Fluttershy. I think the girls and I have run out of ideas for what to do in search for our
Dinner Date pt. 1Another day, another sky to clear. That thought kept passing through Rainbow Dash's mind as she flew about Ponyville kicking clouds. She would look down and see other ponies going about their business, and Rainbow would notice that, once again, other pegasus ponies wouldn't fly as high as her. 'I bet those ponies couldn't reach Cloudsdale if they tried,' she thought to herself.Dinner Date pt. 1 in Short Stories More Like This
From this height, she could see the extent of her work, and she figured that it was enough for today. She planned to settle in for a nap, but something caught her attention. This something happened to be a yellow pegasus flying into Ponyville, and while Rainbow knew that her friend, Fluttershy, often flew into town, this was the first time she'd seen her fly at this speed. "She looks like a pony on a mission," Rainbow said.
Opting to investigate instead of taking a nap, she flew down toward her friend.

Fluttershy smiled and asked, "Does Big Macintosh mind that you're coming to see me?"
Applejack shifted her hat and said, "Yeah about that. The thing is, sugarcube, I haven't told my kin about us yet."
Fluttershy turned away, "I. I understand."

Surprise PartyJust one last tree and this row will be done. Applejack lifted her rear legs and gave the apple tree a buck causing apples to fall into the buckets. She smiled as she looked over the orchard of her home, Sweet Apple Acres. There was still much more work to do, and the sun was about to set. 'I best not get myself too far behind,' Applejack thought. Those buckets were heavy. It made her mad that her big brother, Big Macintosh, could carry three full buckets on his back, while she could only manage one at a time. 'Not today big brother.' She began to slow down due to the weight of the apples, so with gritted teeth she pushed herself harder. 'Come on Applejack, you ain't the most dependable of ponies for nothing.'

"Really? Aren't you older than her?"
"Yes, but I was always impressed with her bravery and ability. After a while, I decided that I will never be like her so I just chose to be myself."
"Well, I'm gonna be just like Rainbow!"

Rainbow Dash could just barely make out the yellow and pink blur. Fluttershy, sitting peacefully on the grass far below the blue pegasus' cloud, shot up to attention. "Oh, um,... yay!" she replied, though barely above a whisper.

She stepped back, looking over her work. The upper portion of the dress was coming along well. Deep, dark blue cloth fit snug to the mannequin, frilled slightly over the shoulders to accentuate the wearer's form. It was the four week mark. Today, Dash was to meet the doctor who had done his best to grant her a second chance at flight. It fit in her schedule well; the Wonderbolt auditions were tomorrow.
Doctor Heartfeld was making his rounds. Though it was never necessarily busy at the Ponyville hospital, there was always work to be done. Caramel was in almost weekly with a new bump or scrape to have looked at from his clumsy work on the Apple farmland, and there was never a shortage of schoolchildren filing through with everything from scuffed knees to 'cooties'. Today, however, the most notable patient he had ever treated was on his clock.
Doctor Heartfeld entered the small exam room, the same worn look as a month before. "Ms. Dash! It's good to see you again. So, are you ready to begin your rehabilitation?"

Rainbow Dash lied just outside of her cloud home, on the outcrop facing Ponyville. The early morning light shined through her house in the sky, its warm beams causing the billowy mass to glow softly. It wasn't often she got to see this time of day. In fact, all she wanted at that exact moment was to be asleep. She had spent most of the night repeating that mantra, in between quick night-flights taken in an attempt to clear her head. None of it had been successful. With the sun quickly rising to wake all of the ponies beneath it, she was becoming aware that she was simply making it an all-nighter.
Why did she say that? She felt it, and had wanted to ask for a while, but why did she have to finally get the courage to do it? Why couldn't she have stayed content with saying she would do it 'soon' like she had so many times before?
The previous evening, she had asked her good friend Applejack out on a date. A question tha

It was a sunny afternoon in Ponyville, with a clear blue sky stretching for miles around. On the lake at Sweet Apple Acres, the cyan pegasus with a vibrant, multicolored mane known as Rainbow Dash was enjoying her daily swim, her mind free of worry and pain. She swam upwards, breaking the water's surface before majestically floating above the lake, twirling with flair like only she could, before diving into the water again with a splash.
"I could almost get used to this new life," she thought as she sped through the water. Rainbow Dash had recently gone through quite the life shattering near-death experience, leaving her without a large part of who she was, both physically and emotionally. She had lost her birthright as a pegasus: the gift of flight. She had lost her wings. That was three weeks ago. As they approached Sugar Cube Corner, things were strangely quiet in the bakery. It seemed to be closed. Had something happened to Mr and Mrs Cake? It wasn't a doozy but it WAS something big!

"Pinkie Pie," Twilight whispered, her violet eyes wide and staring. "What what have you done?"
"What are you talking about, Twilight?" asked Pinkie. She saw that she was in Sugarcube Corner and in front of her was a still-steaming batch of cupcakes fresh out of the oven. "I'm just making cupcakes!"
Twilight's sickened gaze switched from Pinkie to somewhere over her shoulder - and then her mouth slipped open in silent scream at what she saw. Pinkie turned in shock and saw something on one of the work benches the sight was so inexplicable that it took her several heartbeats to realise it was a Pegasus pony, lying on its side.
"Rainbow Dash?" Pinkie whispered. The Pegasus pony was lying on her side and her face wasn't visible, but her unique multi-coloured mane identified her without a doubt. But she wasn't moving
Common Sky - Part 2"Luna, Luna, Luna," said a macabre voice through the darkness. Luna walked down a long, brick-laden hallway, lit up only by her horn and the phosphorescent-like properties of her mane. She had no idea how she had gotten here. She could only feel the bone-cold dampness of the ground on her hooves and throughout the hair on her body. It felt like a dark cellar or a dungeon. "You know that this world isn't a place for ponies such as us. Didn't you learn anything from our little 'vacation,' little one? We are one and the same, and yet, you've learned nothing, NOTHING from me. You really think this happiness and joy will persist? Pah. Luna looked upon a big oval mirror in front of her, bolted against the wall of what appeared to be an abrupt dead-end to the corridor. She remembered where she was now. Common Sky - Part 3The breeze blew past Luna's ears as she enjoyed Twilight's warmth against her. Her eyes were closed, focusing intently on this feeling of closeness that was so new and terrifying to her. She didn't know if she was doing the right thing, or if she was being too affectionate or forward. Luna didn't know what being somepony's 'friend' was like, or how she was supposed to act. Luna had dreamt about this moment for so long, and couldn't pass up the opportunity, no matter if wrecked everything else. Sharing this beautiful night she had created with somepony was the only thing that she had hoped for in her long life. In this moment, she was content with just this. Under the sea of stars, with streaks of fire and waves of light challenging the daytime in pure brilliance, Luna was finally at peace. Her dream had come true. Twilight and Luna were standing on the deck of the Ponyville Library. It was the middle of spring, and Winter Wrap Up had long past. The grass was growing and the flowers were blooming, adding a beautiful green hue to the world as Luna's moon shone brightly overhead in the dead of night. The temperature was warm and the air was muggy, but the sky remained crystal clear. The pair of them were looking through Twilight's largest telescope, which she had just set up the night before.
"Things are so much clearer with a bigger lens, don't you think?" asked Twilight.
"Definitely," replied Luna, her eye glued to the eyepiece, the telescope pointed low on the horizon. "What's this star called?"
"It's called Antares. It's a part of the constellation called Scorpio," said Twilight, looking at one of her books. Luna took her face away from the eyepiece finally, looking up at the sky itself. She stared in the direction

It was late evening in Ponyville. Rarity and Fluttershy were walking towards the large tented venue that had appeared on the hillside seemingly overnight. The pair of them were eyeballing some of the outfits random ponies were wearing for the party. A small scattering of ponies were walking with them, and a small handful had also dressed up for it, in everything from what looked like old disco-styled wear to gothic, lacy clothing with chains and ribbons hanging off of the sides. The sights of decades-old fashion and alternative wear was a horrifying sight and experience to the fashion-conscious pony.
"Uhm... maybe you thought it might be fun?," replied Fluttershy, walking alongside her, smiling meekly.

Lost In The Crowd - Part 2Rainbow Dash figured being around Luna and Twilight was about as harmless as it was going to get at a party like this. I knew she wasn't gone.
I knew she wasn't dead; she couldn't be. Rainbow would never do that; she would never give up.

Her thoughts were elsewhere. She could not stop worrying about Rainbow Dash, and what she had confessed earlier that day.
"A boy? A colt? How could anypony born a mare feel that way?" Twilight thought, trying to come up with anything at all to explain why her friend seemed so tormented.
She let out a heavy sigh, and closed her book, which by then was going completely unnoticed anyway.

Somehow, reinforcing the false truth made her feel a little better, more at ease. She touched down in front of Rarity's boutique. If she was going to be a mare, then she was going to act like one.

Well, the most probable outcome of such an event would be for the pony to recover. She would be able to pick up the pieces of her broken life, make them into something good, but in the case of Ms. Pinkamena Diane Pie well some ponies can't handle the pressure of the most concrete things in their lives, such as their friendships, exploding around them. Some ponies allow their hearts to blacken. They allow hate and animosity to course through their veins.
