I had the great pleasure to work on Space Vagabonds - Ground Assault, chunking out rough concepts for the Federated Kingdom. :iconukitakumuki: had done some stellar work for this project also.
It was a lot of fun to work on these military concepts for a change and I will stay on board for more work and even flesh out these as final concepts at some point.

My 2nd commission done for :icongaiden1992: ~Gaiden1992.

This is the Basilisk. With a chassis slightly heavier than modern main battle tanks, it's main gun is a conventional 155mm smooth bore, but also mounts a magnetic rail accelerator at the muzzle for extra power. A coaxial and loaders machine gun along with a remote minigun turret operated by the commander offer point defense. Various smoke, intercept, and anti-personnel launchers around the vehicle offer strong countermeasures.

Another quick sketch. I lost my original little paper thumbnail sketch of this, but recent I had the idea to make a tank with the turret as big as the chassis :D So when the request of the night was tanks, this came out.
Heavy armor, huge auto cannons, anti tank missiles, and counter measures galore. This tank is designed to rumble through the urban combat environment and dish out serious damage to opposing tanks and mechs alike.
For clarification, I'm on the side that says just because mechs magically become viable doesn't mean tanks don't get to share in the same magic. This thing is a serious combatant and with thicker (more efficient) armor coverage than a mech of the same weight, face to face it has good odds of taking the win.

The Churchill. It's Ultra Autocannon 20 takes up almost one quarter of it's 65 ton weight. 2 medium lasers and a targeting computer round out this package into a serious threat to enemy mechs and armor.

Boeing b-2 Advanced Technology Bomber

Advanced Technology Bomber

Like Monogram, Revell responded to the breakthrough success of Testors' F-19 Stealth Fighter with a "Could Be..." Stealth model of its own. Only in this case, the plane was the long-rumored B-2 Stealth Bomber.

Working from known flying wing technology and the accepted requirements of Stealth designs, the engineers at Revell concocted this smooth, low-profile, tailless bat-wing design and released it under the "Birds of Prey" moniker. Their predictions were fairly on the mark; the actual B-2 turned out to be roughly the same shape and scale as Revell's kit -- but far more angular, especially at the wings' trailing ends.

Raiders of the Lost Ark Nazi Flying Wing

The German-built Flying Wing aircraft was part of the Nazi contingent deployed to Tanis in 1936. Its experimental shape had a forward cockpit for the pilot and a tail gunner position, and some cargo space.[1]

After the Ark of the Covenant was recovered, Dietrich planned to transport the treasure back to Germany in the plane, and the plane was prepared for takeoff. However, Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood destroyed the plane in an attempt to commandeer it, killing the German Mechanic and Pilot (individual) in the process. With the plane destroyed and Jones on the loose, Dietrich and Belloq decided to move the Ark by truck from the camp instead.[1]

The Nazi Flying Wing seen in the film was not a real plane. Raiders production designer Norman Reynolds designed the plane for the film, based on historical Northrop Corporation designs and drawings by Ron Cobb of the Horten Ho-2-29. The fake plane was built by Vickers, and was painted in London at EMI Elstree Studios. In order to ship the unwieldy prop to Tunisia, it had to be disassembled and sent piecemeal before being reconstructed on location.[2]

Hasbro had also planned to release a Flying Wing for their 3 3/4" action figure line; the cancellation of the Hasbro line, however, has made the release of the toy unlikely in the foreseeable future.[source?]

After the Flying Wing was destroyed in the film in 1981, the remains of the plane sat quietly in the Tunisian desert, where parts of it was salvaged by prop collectors. In 1991, ten years after the production of Raiders Of The Lost Ark, the Flying Wing was finally bulldozed and its remains destroyed.[so

Marauder
Anti-air mobile platform. The turret is small sized, and armed with twin 15mm auto-cannons (the turret field of fire is 360' horizontaly and 80' vertically). The armor is medium, but while in combat the "marauder" mostly uses his good speed and moblility. The hover's main goal is destroying infantry squads and light aircraft units. It size can be compared to a "Hummer" military jeep.

Towards the end of the war, improvisation was the rule rather than the exception. Their sleek wings of the ballistic interceptors had long since taken their last flight, and this left a surplus of tractor chassis. Some of these were used in the final defense of the capital, including this example. It's been fitted with an outmoded field gun and its associated fortress mount, giving a marginal degree of mobility to weapons salvaged from the bypassed coastal emplacements.

Sighting would (ideally) be done by an associated survey team, or forward observer in the case of tactical targets. In the end, the Goliath serves as more of a monument to Protectorate desperation than as an example of a useful battlefield asset. Most of the thirty or so examples completed were either destroyed by counterbattery fire, or abandoned after mechanical failure or running out of fuel.

The depicted example was abandoned and overrun in a cornfield just south of the capitol, near the Palace of the Engines. The peculiar mechanism above the barrel is for muzzle loading two-piece rocket projectiles instead of normal shells.

Crinos Mk I

This is a commission work for Battletech Technical Readout 3063 being created by Steven Satak. [link]

Design by me. Thanks. :-P

It is a 3d model rendered to lines. Some other details and aspects were added in Photoshop.

This is my final commission for TRO 3063 and I have had a lot of fun working on these creations. I just wish I could have made a few mechs for the readout but I came to the party late.

Still.. it was a fun gig and it is for battletech so I am happy.

For my Red Alert 2-themed mod intended for a Sage engine game (Generals ZH, CNC3 or Red Alert 3);

Showcase of my V5 Missile Launcher and Nuke Truck;
(it was originally going to be a 4-unit showcase, but as I'm still not happy with my Flak Track replacements, and it had been a while since I last released, I decided to release these two first (the other unit is the supply truck, and I thought I'd put these designs up and decide what truck would be most appropriate with these designs to compare to).
--------------------------------------------------------------

The V5 Launcher:
Replacing the Soviet V3 launcher of RA2 (and V4 in RA3)
It's design based on the real soviet Uragan, for the reason of trying to differentiate it from the other truck-chassis vehicles, while keeping it looking truck-like.
Gameplay-wise, its attack is identical to the V3/4, except that its range is massively increased: note that because I'm aiming for a game that uses fog of war, you will need a scout unit closer to the target to act as a spotter for it.
-----------------------------------------------

Nuclear Demolition Truck
A national unit replacing the almost identical one in Red Alert 2:
The theme (with Yuri in charge of the Soviets- hence the Psicorps logo)- is that suicide vehicles are manned by mind-controlled political enemies (or the odd terrorist who volunteers) who are made to drive the vehicle and detonate the warhead.

Gameplay-wise the RA2 Nuke Truck has always been a mildly tricky unit to balance- and for this one I'm keeping it high-powered and guaranteed to cause the defending player a lot of pain, I have decided an alteration to make it not extremely overpowered; and this solution uses none other than real-life physics of the nuclear bomb itself;
-
That is, a nuke is a plutonium sphere wrapped in explosive charges- when set off at exactly the same time, they compress the sphere (and its energy) making it implode- and long story short, that actually makes the giant nuclear explosions. bombing the missile sets off the charges out of order- blowing the sphere apart; resulting in only a normal explosion and a probability of deadly radioactive particles floating around.
-
In other words, when this unit reaches its target (or is instructed to detonate by the player)- the unit explodes into a mushroom cloud instantly, blasting everything nearby aside (note that it is a weaker explosion than the Nuke superweapon).
If the vehicle is destroyed before either happen, the result is a smaller but deadly explosion, and the area still gets saturated with radiation (Though it fades faster).
---------------------------------------------------------

Enjoy!

UPDATE- DOH! Ignore the bit about the raptor- I accidentally switched the labels- I'm aware in real life Raptors are specialized AA fighters- the exact opposite of the description (they are to be a special USA unit)

The final part of the unit showcase for my RA2 mod stuff!
(except naval and structures down the track).
This is intended for a mod (most likely Zero Hour).

This version depicts a slightly more dystopian allied side than normal, with some meaner units than the protagonists in past CNC games.

A rundown of the units (note * designates a national unit- that is, in multiplayer the player can pick one of many Allied nations and get one of these special overpowered bonus units).

LAND

Flamebot- small half-tonne robot buggy that sports a miniature flamethrower- kills masses of infantry (including those garrisoned) if it gets close enough, as well as frying most structures. Cannot be mind-controlled or detected by either radar or psi detection.
(this unit is basically a replacement to the Robot Tank, with a more distinct purpose than a light tank substitute).

Supply Truck- replaces Miners as resource collecters- more like Generals style resource collectors.

Wildcat IFV- basically the IFV from RA2- only bigger and sturdier (but more expensive). Still extremely fast and highly functional depending on what infantry unit is riding in the back.

Kodiak Tank- Basically a RA2 Grizzly Tank with better armour, a powerful anti-tank gun, and a co-axial machinegun. With these weapons in has difficulty hitting infantry but fares better than the old Grizzly- but costs twice as much. Against the new Soviet Hammer Tank the Kodiak is at a disadvantage against the sustained fire- luckily the Kodiak is cheaper.

MARS Missile Tank: a front-line MRLS- fires a salvo of missiles to carpet an area, doing fair damage to any and all targets at longer ranges. Slow movement, a very slow rate of fire and lighter armour are its weaknesses. Added to give the Allies some non-precision support fire.

Sonic Tank- Uses a similar Sonic weapon from the counterpart in the old Westwood Emperor-Battle for Dune game- only it does not harm friendly units. It releases a rolling wave of sound that bowls over infantry and vehicles alike; however, it is lightly armored, has a slow rate of fire and its attack can actually be dodged by faster units.

Prism Tank*
Fires a prism beam that splits between targets, good for hard to reach places.
Modifying the RA2 one in many ways- firstly, at non-veterean levels its attack still covers a wide area. Secondly, its fragmentary beams do lighter damage, while its main beam does more. It can now fire at air units. All this comes at a higher price tag, national-only status, light armor and a slow rate of fire.

Chrono-Realy*
An entirely and thoroughly new unit!
A vehicle that can teleport an explosive mine anywhere on the map within your line of sight! Upon warping in this bomb quickly ticks down to detonation (workplace safety reasons)- erasing all units nearby.
The only drawbacks with this attack are based on two issues. The bomb can actually be shot apart by enemy units before detonating- averting a detonation. The second is the same drawback for the Chrono-Legionairre; the further the bomb is sent from the Relay vehicle, the longer it takes to warp in (due to an unavoidable physics reason about conservation of mass over time and space or something).
This means that the further you place the vehicle from its target, the longer it takes to warp in and the lower the chance it won't be blasted before detonation. Of course, it still makes a perfect distraction- or ambush (or to put it another way, has some similar applications as the V3/4/5 missile- only on a much larger scale).
This machine moves at moderately slow speeds.

Battle Fortress*
Beefed up version of the Yuri's Revenge version; now uses a flamethrower instead of a machinegun, and can hold 8 soldiers who may shoot out from inside, and can now rip into structures with its treads. Gives the allies a distinct offensive unit.

AIRFORCE

Raptor Strike Fighter
Generals-inspired. A strike fighter armed with a single precision missile salvo to use against structures, ships and vehicles- and a machinegun to use against infantry. Holds superior bombing and anti-tank capabilities to the Mig (capable of firing its bombs from further away with 100% precision)- but inferior anti-infantry and dog-fighting capacity (machineguns have a shorter range).

Blackhawk chopper
Same as the old one, only it uses a small flamethrower while on the ground to clear way for a landing. Does not appear on enemy Radar. Possibly considering giving this thing a more controlled "deploy function" toggle between aerial>grounded>eject infantry (if any)> aerial.

Nightwing Prism Gunship.
A large aircraft gunship that flies around its targets, shooting multiple prism beams at short range that split off to multiple targets- either ground or air- returning to base only when it has reached its destination or destroyed its designated targets.

Auroroa Hypersonic Bomber*
Generals Aurora bomber capable of flying to target at speeds too great for AA to target- with a single change- instead of dropping a bomb, it unleashes a sonic bomb identical to the Sonic tank (only wider and stronger) that rips up ground targets. After attacking it must refuel at slower speeds, leaving it vulnerable. Unlike other strike craft, the Aurora will only take off when a target has been designated.

The purpose of this combination is to fill in every strong capability gap while leaning towards a more evasive play style than the Soviets, with a stronger emphasis on using specialized units to exploit weaknesses than ammassing concentrated firepower. Also I aim to make all tanks much more expensive to encourage more diverse combinations of attacks.

Hope you like it!

Finally complete- the replacement for the apocalypse tank for my in-development Red Alert Zero mod;

The Devastator is not so much a tank as a form of hybrid vehicle codenamed a "Land Destroyer"; combining the roles of a naval destroyer, heavy tank, self-propelled howitzer and mobile command vehicle.
...........................................................................
The RA2 Apocalypse Tank was regarded by many as little more than a general tank that is individually superior- but overall inferior cost-effectively to the smaller, faster rhino;

The Devastator surpasses the previous class of ultra-heavy tanks by firing long-ranged naval guns at their targets- decimating most vehicles in a single shot, well out of reach for them to retaliate (keep in mind the range is still considerably less than what standard howitzers, naval units and self-propelled missile units can achieve).

Its disadvantage is that the latest Devestator had been rushed through production before technicians could find a way to equip the full package- meaning these vehicles are sent to the field with only their main guns;
-Roof-mounted gunners are rationed only to elite crews;
-The SAM system and chassis gunner systems must be installed separately, and unfortunately the vehicle is only capable of accommodating one upgrade.
..........................................................................

Well, design wise this vehicle had been darned tricky;
The idea was to make it look like a completely stand-alone vehicle type that needed its own special design specs;

For example, when you design a tank, you design a vehicle that can fit around the crew in an effective, but compact manner (at least as much as possible)- and as such the whole design is made to fit around the crew compartment;
-For THIS thing, accomodating crew is an afterthought considering how large it is- and the armour is built more around the engine- with a few tiny entrance points and cockpits here and there nestled deep inside.

I tried to mix bits and pieces of Russian Self-propelled artillery and troop-carriers, heavy tanks, and of course important details of the classic CNC Mammoth-type tanks, to try to make this thing look about right.

It has gone through MANY forms- either ones that looked way to delicate, bad proportions, or looked too much like the Mauler

Hope you enjoy it and please feel free to critique it!

PS- the words scrawled on the side translate to "Mister Furious" (courtesy of Translation2 online English-Russian translation)
