OLD SCHOOL CRAFT MISSION 3 - STAGE 1

old school fans know may this game too good
some may love
and some just hate it
(ore both :D )

one of the greatest score shooter but also one tough
if you don't choose the right weapon for the right situation you're just fucked :D

about the model:
i just have to say this
sometimes i have the feeling that the creator don't build there own models
some are just badly designed
but not in this case
quite the opposite
when i have to describe it, then only with one word
!genius!

this model is just genius and you just know that "Irem" build this one not only one time
everything fit just perfect

if i have to prefere a model as a starter
then this one
try it, build it
and enjoy it, this one is just great :)

you can download the model here

OLD SCHOOL CRAFT MISSION 3 - STAGE 2

honestly, i never played Starfox ^^;
but as :iconedsfox: asked me about to build the Arwing i came up with the idea to start this mission

i hope you like it :)

about the model:
this model is just bad ass and if you don't have any experience with papercraft, this will break your neck

the edges are just sharp and the pieces horrible tiny
(remind me a lot to the Amaterasu model)

the window is made out of foil, what was also new for me
and not really easy, because i choose a very hard one
the instruction was also one point, execpt the images i had no other references how to build this (i can't read hieroglyphics :D )

the wings are moveable from floating to rushing
(ore whatever this is called ingame :D )
and it took me a second attempt to get this system working

but it was fun, and the model looks really cool :)
if you wanna download it,

you can do this here
but be warned, you will get no mercy from this model ;)

A closer view of my Shooting Game Historica Vic Viper T-301 and Metalion gashapon replicas.

The Metalion appears in the MSX Gradius 2/Nemesis 2/Nemesis '90 Kai game, and is the successor to the original Vic Viper, with permanent weapons upgrade capability.

The Vic Viper T-301 appears in Gradius V (as well as in the CG movies of the "Gradius III & IV" compilation); it is the latest Vic Viper model produced by the Gradius forces in the year 8010, and is the first model shown to have time travel capability.

And now, for something quite different from the usual aircraft two-views I've been making...

Here's the iconic Vic Viper starfighter of the Gradius video game series, in its T-301 iteration. First seen on the cover of the Gradius III & IV compilation as well as CG sequences within it, the T-301 then makes its first full-blown appearance in Gradius V, and then in Gradius ReBirth.

The T-301 is easily distinguished from its BP-827Z predecessor (last seen in Gradius IV) by the sharp, angular design of its prow (which elaborately reconfigures when firing its high-powered laser), as well as the two oversized "photon torpedo" missiles it carries externally.

A custom 3-D Bead Sprite of the Vic Viper from the Nintendo game "Gradius". Contains around 5,803 beads that make up 92 separate pieces which interlock to form the final piece. Sorry, no tutorial for this one yet, but maybe one day...

Much like the Layered Gutsdozer Bead Sprite, this is build up with foamcore like a topographic map. This rendition of Skull Castle from Mega Man 2 contains over 22,000 beads, making up 47 pieces on 14 layers. It's free standing and as badass as bead sprites come!

I'm a huge Gradius fan. It all started with the sister title Life Force on my NES. Since then, I have been a SHMUP fan my whole life.

When they released this Gradius Sky Girls 1/60 Scale Vic Viper kit last year, I just had to pick it up. I am pleased with the results of my work. It looks pretty good, but I'll be honest, it isn't one of my best works.

Despite what I've read from model review places online, this kit, for whatever reason, was an absolute pain for me to put together. This kit is supposed to be snap-together (similar to all those fun-to-build Gundam models), but it certainly didn't work that way for me. Often I had to remove tabs, fill gaps, and do so many other modifications that I felt like I was assembling a poorly casted resin kit rather than an injection molded Japanese model. Maybe I got a bad shipment or something, because no one else seems to have any complaints regarding this issue in the slightest.

Anyways, enough of my complaining. I'm hoping that if anyone else decides to build this kit that they have a much easier time than I did.

I love Gradius and the Vic Viper, but much like the game, this kit was difficult to get through, and required a lot of skill and patience. However, in the end, that made the reward all the more sweet.

The Gradius series has always had a special place in my heart. Be sure there will be more illustrations featuring the Vic Viper and core warships in the future.

Vic Viper, pilot ship of the original Gradius, is the only character to be playable in every Parodius shooter and retains the original weapon loadout from that game.
Unfortunately that makes him quite a boring character and I can't really remember the last time I used him. But here's some interesting things:-!

Vic gets cartoonified for Parodius and in the SNES documentation this is attributed to eating "too much homemade sweetcakes" and changing shape. It also mentions its new "shuffle-step missile that wears basketball sneakers" and is accompanied with an image of Vic Viper with eyes. Even as late as Sexy Parodius ol' Vic is sometimes given arms and/or legs though these are of the Koitsu/stickman variety.
By combining all this personification (despite a couple of sources claiming Vic has a pilot) I decided a nice pair of retractable Twinbee legs would look nice.

Then there's Lord British, perhaps one of the most overlooked Parodius characters? He's from a Gradius spinoff which makes him an appropriate second player but it's nice to see a little bit of pseudo-representation for Blighty.

Another casualty of the "Konami just stopped making games" incident, Twinbee was an interesting series that began as a shooter, but later spun off into a puzzle game, platformer and even an RPG.

The first Twinbee game I played was Pop'n Twinbee: Rainbow Bell Adventures and I loved it. Having since played the shooters they're actually pretty difficult, they seem to be more strategic than reactionary.

I had often considered the possiblity in Parodius of a "third player," mainly due to the fact that there is a third Twinbee ship, Gwinbee, but not many other characters fit into the format. Gwinbee did at least get a tiny cameo during the credits of Chatting Parodius.

The eponymous miracle baby himself, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa was the only game in its series but the little scamp was given a second wind by Parodius.

Now here begins a problem I have with some of the guest characters. Original characters Like Mambo, Koitsu and Michael have recolours as their second players and it's hard to argue with that since they were made for these games to begin with. Guest characters like Upa and Kid Dracula also got recolours, essentially making up new characters attached to another series to which they don't really belong. I never understood this. When Goemon appeared in Fantastic Parodius on the SNES he was accompanied by Ebisumaru, the natural second player for him. For Upa (and also Kid Dracula) no effort was (apparently) made to find a suitable existing character so recolours were simply fabricated.

This is less of an issue for Upa because, according to sources, Rupa is his younger sister and since he only had one game it's feasible that a second baby was born after its conclusion and as babies it's feasible that they would look incredibly similar.

Despite this I borrowed the design from one of the kidnapped babies in the instruction manual, just to make Rupa look a little more distinguished.

Have to give a bit o' shooter love

Thought it would be fun to do a lil twist on here stylistically, with the big loud vibrant colors that you'd find on the old school boxart of those old NES carts you need to blow to get them to work..

Had to put a little luv for the big G in my pile, with my favorite enemies in the game *hugs moai*

.. just flown the gauntlet, blew shit up, survived, WHO'S NEXT???!? BRINGIT

This is Vic's Gradius 3 incarnation (i believe), as the ships gone through so many incarnations and ship design shifts from game to game, but this is one of my faves :3

_________
This piece has been on my backburner for a long time, and thought it be time to get off my duff and do this..

the original concept is buried in my scraps section, should you wish to take a gander at the fuzzy airbrush tool slap out in an hour speedpaint that was the original..

but we rebuilt it, made it stronger..

*cue six million dollar man music*

[edit] friend took it and flipnturned it suggested a shift.. "flipped and rotated, this angle looks more ohshi-get-out-of-the-way".. and i agree, it also makes vic central focus..

and while i was at it, i went and dropped some color on the cockpit and wingtips (which i missed ^^; )

rotate 90 degrees clockwise for spiffy 1024x768 wallpaper XD

FINALLY finished the ACB insignia.. The sculpt was misplaced for almost a year, but really wanted to get this thing done.

This was sculpted using super sculpey polymer clay, then molded and cast in smoothcast 326 resin with silver powder dusted in the mold, and light weathering with black was done with an airbrush & light washes.

If you're interested in getting one, I have them in my online shop here.  www.fevstudios.com/product-cat…

I havent oekakied in a while, so I thought.. what if iI drew Vic-Viper? I've been eagerly awaiting the new Gradius game Gradius 5 *which is being created by Treasure*. So here's my latest. Not my best. Probably going to be my last oekaki again for a while, Highschool is going to start soon >_<. Gradius fans should like this picture hehe. The orange thingies are the options, and Vic-Viper is firing the Laser weapon. I sorta rushed in the power up bar too and background, but i'm happy with it still anyway, afterall, its Gradius!!!:)
