Lest We ForgetWhether it be Remembrance Day here in Canada or Veteran's Day in the USA, this is the 100th anniversary of the first World War in 1914... not that it happened today, but this is a day where we can really reflect on all that was lost so that we could be given something better.Lest We Forget in Personal More Like This
Mind you, it's not just on this day that we should be grateful and keep this kind of thing in our minds, but between the festivities of October and December, November just brings about a stillness or silence that allows us to reflect; at least, that's how I always felt
I leave you people with this lovely poem that really speaks true to me.
Thanks to all the soldiers who are out there braving all sorts of danger for us and their loved ones, and thanks to the ones who, unfortunately, couldn't come home.
In Flanders fields the poppies grow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short day

Remembering USS AkronHello all,Remembering USS Akron in Personal More Like This
Today marks the 80th anniversary of the USS Akron disaster. The first of America's two flying carriers, the ZRS-4 had been plagued by accident and misfortune for the majority of it's career. For all of that, Akron did prove the feasibility of the flying carrier concept. Like her sister the Macon, the ship proved it's usefulness several times as a fleet scout and potential combat vessel.
Tragically, the Akron encountered severe weather off the New Jersey coast on April 4th, 1933. While we may never entirely know, it is commonly accepted that Commander McCord made several errors trying to navigate the storm which resulted in the ship's loss. The massive airship's tail hit the ocean around 12:30 AM, and the ship shortly sank into the Atlantic. Seventy three of the seventy six aboard died, including Rear Admiral Moffett (the "Air Admiral"), his aid Commander Cecil, Commander Berry (LNAS commanding officer), and Lieutenant Colonel Masury (USAR and VP o
Remembering The HindenburgHello all,Remembering The Hindenburg in Personal More Like This
Today is May 6th, and that means today is the 76th anniversary of the Hindenburg disaster. The most advanced (at the time) airship ever to fly was in the final stages of landing at the Lakehurst Naval Airstation when she suddenly burst into flames. For decades, the cause of the tragedy has often been debated, but recent studies into the crash suggest static electricity ignited hydrogen that was vented from the ship. Much like a trail of gasoline, the burning hydrogen flume sucked back down into the exhaust vents, where it went on to ignite the massive gas cells of the airship. While we will never know for certain, it is thus far the most probable tested theory presented.
The Hindenburg was a marvel of engineering, eight hundred and four feet long, with a maximum diameter of one hundred and thirty five feet. She was lifted by just over a whopping seven million cubic feet of hydrogen, although Hindenburg was originally designed for helium. The airliner cou

A NEW rigid airship and an old one.Hello all,A NEW rigid airship and an old one. in Personal More Like This
Well, I've had lots of goodies to share with you all lately. Well guess what? I got more!
First, some interesting developments on the rigid framed Aeroscraft. Guess what? The prototype is near completion. BEHOLD:
Granted, it is a small ship. It isn't the traditional cigar shaped rigid. But it will be the first genuinely rigid airship to fly since 1939. And, if the prototype is successful, it's likely the larger version will be constructed in the near future.
Now, on to the old airship. Oddly enough, the very last rigid airship to fly way back in 1939. Coincidence? Yes, actually. (Boy the timing on this was sweet.)
For the delicious entertainment of our technical lovers, not to mention model builders, I present to you thirty pages of DETAILED technical drawings of the LZ-130 Graf Zeppelin.
Actually, the link at the top of the page selection col

As we all know, today is the anniversary of the Hindenburg disaster. By now, it should go without saying exactly what that did for international airship travel. And with the advent of the Second World War, it's likely that the great vessels of the sky would not have been long for the world even without LZ-129's infamous demise.
Mr. Grossman over at Airships.net has shared a few images of Hindenburg from that fateful day:
In other LTA news, Aeroscraft continues to be on the up and up. (pun intended) They've recently gained further financial backing form Drexel Hamilton, an investment banking team that has a unique distinction of employing and working with military veterans. While further developments of the Aeroscraft itself, not to mention LTA as a whole, remain vexing in scope, the slow but steady progress of airship technologies is something that continues to give me hope.
Until next time!

I know I just posted that footage of Count Zeppelin and the LZ 3(?), but I've found something else that may be of interest to you all as well. For free, you can download a copy of D'Orcy's Airship Manual (published in 1917) for your reading and studying pleasure. While the "Golden Age" airships are not included, the book predating them, I urge any and all serious airship enthusiasts to take advantage of this free copy. It is 250 pages (more or less) of highly informative and useful reference. The book can be found here:
I would consider this a must have book for the serious airship enthusiast, I cannot stress that enough. While available in a text-only version, the extra file size is more than worth it for the diagrams and photographs included.

They're Watching You!Hello all,They're Watching You! in Personal More Like This
Well, OK, they're not watching you yet. However, Nevada-based Airship Manufacturing intends for them to be. What, you ask, am I talking about?
Much like the larger (and discontinued) military projects of recent years, Airship Manufacturing has developed and launched a series of UAV airships intended for security surveillance purposes. The modestly large (at one hundred feet) ships will be capable of silently, if not inconspicuously, hovering around with up to 300 lbs of gear. Being capable of loiter and flight times much greater than their heavier-than-air counterparts, these new UAVs will likely become popular with police forces around the globe. Currently, US law prohibits their use here in the States, so the spy blimps won't be hovering around you anytime too soon.

Dr. Charles Negy, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Central Florida, had to email an extra, elementary lesson to his students -- one so basic and of such societal value that it was posted on Reddit.
Striking a tone somewhere between ivory tower and a mother's lecture, Negy challenged his students to step outside the context of their own cultures for a frank discussion on religious bigotry, a talk apparently interrupted by several students expressing bigoted views, in Negy's opinion.
"We're adults. We're at a university," he concludes. Read the letter below to how he arrived at this point.

A Tumblr user called "bucknekkedonabigwheel" put my opinion on this rather nicely.
"Its stories like these that make me fucking disgusted by idiot Christians. I’m not saying I hate all Christians- just the idiotic ones, my Christian friends would never be this shitty to a person over something like this, sure maybe they would get upset but they’d realize she was right and they would move on. They would even do this when we were all young enough to still be in high school.
Anyways, what she did was right in every way- having that prayer up is unconstitutional and I’d like to tell her great job and well done and fuck all of the people trying to knock her down just because she remembers that this country is supposed to have church and state separate."

How To Train Your Dragon 2 was...... well, probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. I said that about the new X-Men movie too but, in this case, Dragon kinda beats the poop out of the X-men. Although, both are wonderful movies. Anyway, " How To Train Your Dragon 2 " was a sight to behold. It was very colorful. The characters are all 5 years older, so Hiccup is 20 now. And they aged them all very well. Hiccup looks pretty cool now... and I like the twin girl too... Tuffnut is it? They did good with her. The boys all have lame facial hair which is funny. The animation on the humans, even though they're " cartoony ", looked incredibly real. The story is actually more about the human characters too which was a pleasant surprise in my opinion. I've been anticipating this flick since the first one came out & was a bit worried it wouldn't happen since it has the cartoon series, but it did. Makes me curious to see what the show is like. I'm not saying anything is wrong with this group but, if ya look, it's been founded only 1 month ago. I've run into these sorts of groups frequently here and they just seem to pick recently submitted Deviations here to showcase in their newly founded groups. I've even seen a few groups that were kind of challenging people to get their group to a certain amount of submissions by a deadline as if it were some sort of contest or status thing. The thing I can't quite figger is, WHY do these groups exist? It kinda seems to me that there's sort sort of hidden agenda that they all posses. Does anyone actually have like... actual knowledge as to why there are so many of these groups. They just make me go " Hmmmmmmmm ".

Wreck-It ' Ralph 'I saw " Wreck-It Ralph " finally. It was good, formulaic as heck, but good. CG movies anymore are written like ... strict poetry or something now. The same-feeling things happen at the same time but with different characters. " Wreck-It Ralph " also was one of those movies that is somewhat mislead by its trailer. I kept thinking that his time in the candy race-track game was gonna be a short sidetrack just to meet Glitch but that was pretty much the beef o' the movie.Wreck-It ' Ralph ' in Personal More Like This
What really surprises me ( well... not really ), is the the fan-art for Turbo. The guy was maybe on screen for 5IVE SECONDS! I guess the bad guys just have that allure that horny girls crave. He reminds me of my recent " Masters of the Universe " Dragstor doodle I did the other week. The way people draw him though, I thought he was actually... IN the movie.
Dragstor or Turbo?
I really liked Q-Bert with his Star Wars-alien lingo. " Coily " was neat too. I'm glad they found work in the end cuz I f

Green Lantern and Young Justice Jan. 19,2012So let me start by saying this has spoliers so you have been toldGreen Lantern and Young Justice Jan. 19,2012 in Personal More Like This
Green Lantern-so I'm guessing this does not go with that really bad movie from a few years back,to say I got bored. I know people will say it was good, but the only thing that kept me watching was the whole Aya thing. It like, hey you want them to kiss well sorry we are going to drag this out for ever. The end was shows that Sinestro is going a evil after all.
Well over a Young Justice- all I got to say crap is going to hit the fan. I glad the Tim goto lead his own team. The best part he did the ninja thing! Now the part that made me think the crap is going to hit the fan was when they were like 'when he's done he will no more about your son then you do' it makes me a little scared and happy at the same time. It looks like Conner (Superboy)is loved by Superman's famliy! Hey this the first time Megan was not in an episode.
Well so if you could be a superhero that's on DC Natio who would it be.
Feed back is welcomed.

Green Lantern-so many feels! The whole time I’m thinking Razer you’re not dead, but I was really confused at the begging. Like how did, better yet when did Aya get a new body? If you know then please tell me! Now the Aya and Razer shippers are all going nuts cause well its look like they with be together. Sitting and watching this I was like just kiss all ready. More Blue lanterns with Phil Morris as Saint Walker, but with my entire feels for this show and the robots.
Young Justice-holy crap, I know I try not to get all fan girls but must not talk about supermartian, but it like she didn’t want to talk to fishface… I mean La’gaan. I know some people ship fishface and Ma’gann but the ending Conner must know something is up, and the attack on the hall. Ok at the begging of this episode I swear I heard the little robot say the big bad dudes name was ‘del foot’ but the bad guys

Cop 1: I believe I know who did it.
Cop 2: You do?
Cop 1: Yes. It was an angry unicorn who stabbed all these people to death. Just look at the stabbings and how perfectly they were formed.
Cop 2: Umm... Wow. That's fucking stupid. Unicorns don't exist and apart from that these re bullet holes not Unicorn horn holes. Do you have any evidence about this. How did you reach this conclusion?
Cop 1: You're an irrational clown. It was a unicorn and I don't need to show you evidence. I have faith that it was a Unicorn. Can you prove that it wasn't.
Cop 2: Okay I can't disprove that a Unicorn did it but the most logical answer isn't that a Unicorn did it. Besides these holes are to small for it to be a Unicorn horn. Besides I don't think we should be making assumptions
Religion and it's fight against civil rights. This is a little rant I wrote on Facebook. I didn't expect to go as long as it did. I was expecting it to be two sentences. It came from a conversation with my mother (Who is a Christian) about how religion always impedes civil rights. Of course she doesn't think the bigotry is based on the bible even though I point out where and how. Well it made me think why we let them get away with the bullshit they cause.Religion and it's fight against civil rights. in Personal More Like This
"Religion gets away with bigotry because they convinced the majority of the population that they can mistreat people because they've been mandated by god to do so. Of course when the population has had enough, religions have 2 options. 1, they can be true to their beliefs and keep being hateful, or 2, Adapt and change your stance and pretend that you never were bigoted and even championed for equality. This is why respect the KKK when it comes to religion. They are at least honest and still hate people of other races because their religion says so, never falling to the pressure
Roe vs Wade, 40 years later. So Obama enters his second term and I really don't care. Because what I really want to talk about is that on Tuesday January 22nd, marks the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. I think that the decision means more to our overall politics than people realize. Everyone talks about the implications of abortion and the movements that came with it. Personally I thought the Supreme court made the right decision because Abortion was a problem. Before the decision, women usually had to do abortions themselves in an unsafe manner leading to sterilization or death. Legally, I have a mixed opinion on the case since the constitution makes no mention on abortion. So much so that if I was a judge, I would recuse myself. Now I am aware that the arguments they used was the 9th amendment and a right to privacy. Anyway I'm getting distracted. Getting real here, I don't like abortion but I do think that it should be available, making me pro-choice. One thing that annoys me the most is the fact that many PrRoe vs Wade, 40 years later. in Personal More Like This
I'm a Mestizo against interracial marriageSo I already talked about what a Mestizo is so I won't get into much detail. It's just someone who is racially mixed with white and Native American. So let's get this going.I'm a Mestizo against interracial marriage in Personal More Like This
So I decided to speak up about this since I find it damaging to society. Interracial marriage is not only immoral but it's bad for families. My proof for this is a book by Albert I. Gordon called "Intermarriage: Interfaith, Interracial, Interethnic." It's a good book with the ultimate proof that interracial marriage is not only detrimental to the individual but the the family and to society.
I don't say he says it should be illegal but he shows as a social scientist that interracial marriages are undesirable and hold no promise for a bright and happy future for mankind.
I count interracial relationships as a type of rape. I mean how else can it happen? My only experience with interracial couples is that the father raped the woman and now they're married. What's next, man on dog, pedophilia? The sanctity of marriage
