We have lumps of it round the back...Not far from the centre of the town, between the shuffle and grind of the railway and the jostling thrum of the mall is a small and forgotten patch of land. It crouches, torn and stray and completely overlooked, and the midsummer's rain falls warm upon it in great shifting sheets. Scrap metal and rags and lengths of timber bed down amongst scrub and dead-brown stems of grass. The place is long abandoned and touched only at the edges by the glow of the streetlight. Ramshackle sheds and junkie-dens squat along a panel-fence divide, scarred flanks of needle caps and rags. Feral cats, all torn ears, undulating yrowls and staccato spitting come here to fight, fuck and lick their wounds, a man-made wilderness of rugged tyre-stacks, peeling paintwork and jagged sheet-metal.We have lumps of it round the back... in Personal More Like This

And it weighs so heavy and my shoulders ache.
But every heartbeat, every crash of the drum makes it mine, shapes it, takes it, funnels it into a bottle and stoppers it. And the damage is done and the image was never sacred and just watch how quickly you are no longer forged in wrought iron and starlight, how quickly you are cast in low plastic.
Where's the ache that shaped the shadows and placed the light with such care? Where's the firelight and the cold deep dark?
I will not live just to grow old.
These hands are not content, no leeching grey thoughts will stop them when they choose to build.

The river flows.
The Oracle squats, fat and artificial and effluent over the muddied waters as they crawl sluggishly through the car fumes and discarded cans.
This place of polished plastic architecture and the pre-aged pre-torn clothes feels sick. The people are made of the same lifeless plastic as the cartons and crisp packets that creep along the currents of the near-stagnant water. Their faces are blind, noses high, and I hate them and I pity them and I fear becoming like them, losing that which has always been me, that which fundamentally makes me happy and makes me something other than what they are.
The eyes that flicker from under perfectly messy hair do not like me. Some days I feel the stares so hard they make my shoulders tense and my hands clench, some days I feel stronger than them, some days I feel so fucking surrounded I stupidly, reflexively look
Wild dogs and dead bodies.Such was the nature of the world when it was split by ice that wolves and men crossed paths often, for they hunted and killed the same creatures, and in this both man and animal would strip a carcass to the bone, every shred of meat wolfed down, to risk a pun. The bones cracked under jaw and flint to release rich, creamy marrow, and dead bodies never littered the ice for long.Wild dogs and dead bodies. in Deviant Events More Like This
Man killed wolf with a contradiction of fear and bravery, wolf killed man with hunger and instinct, for food was scarce and the nights long and hungry regardless of species.
Man had fire and made shelter of skins and bone, wolves had sight and smell and a pelt to hold at bay the winds that had frozen the world.
Among men there were those for whom the pelt of the slain wolf was more than dead skin, for whom the firelight and the pregnant moon conveyed something larger and stranger than both.
And thus it was that certain moments of the lunation caused some men to fall, convulsing, to their fours and run to the wild

There are towns and there are people barely a mile away and always pushing closer, but right here the world is free, less moulded to the blanched soulless sterility of first world living.
The clouds are growing heavy overhead and a drum beat rises from deep in my chest.
I will not drink for I desire a clear mind and clearer eyes.
I have not eaten since I left the desert, nor will I, though the hunger leaves me as gnarled as driftwood. I had grown weak waiting outside your city.
Here there are only the screams of gulls and the crashing, chaotic beauty of the waves under the iron sky. Iron, water and wood. Salt in the air and on my ton

I don't know why I felt the need to do this, but my brain took on the challenge of coming up with as many crazy, dorky things you can do around the house as I could think of for the next 20 minutes. Here's a great list
Make paper airplanes
Go to the store and buy a bunch of cards with sound chips in them and take turns opening each one of them
Pet your cat....or dog....or your left arm.
Try to see how many pairs of sunglasses can stay on your face at once
Turn on the tv, go to the soap operas, and give sports commentary to it.
Give yourself a shaving cream mustache
Turn all your socks with holes into puppets modeled after WWII vets.
Zoom through the house like an airplane and make the accommodating noises.
Fill the fanciest glasses in the house with every different kind of (non-alcoholic) beverage you have and

#ToMyUnbornChild became a trending topic on Twitter a few weeks ago, and while most people used it to write loving tweets to their future children, some homophobes decided to do just the opposite.
@Homophobes, a Twitter account that retweets homophobes to expose their ignorance, published an article of 100 extremely homophobic tweets, which gained quite a bit of attention around the web.
Charlotte Moore was inspired, and decided to write and direct a PSA using the tweets. The video was produced by Brian Lee and Nick Heim.

Lamar Smith, the chief sponsor of SOPA, said on Friday that he is pulling the bill “until there is wider agreement on a solution.”
“I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy,” Smith (R-Texas) told Reuters. “It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products.”
Deviants have voiced their opinion with over 25,000 comments on deviantART's SOPA article. To protest the bill, artists submitted thousands of "Deviation Censored" images to deviantART over the past few days. DeviantART's "Ne

As I have been made aware by at least 300-ish notes, Chad Love Lieberman has illegally taken many artworks from deviantart including mine, trying to sell them for thousands of dollars on their art4love.com and MarkYourSpot.com websites.

Is he Craig associated with Chad? Has he been deceived by Chad? Why does Craig own the url for the site that hosted stolen art?

7 TIPS FOR THE 21-YEAR-OLD ME by Bobby Chiu
When I was a student in college working on my skills as a character designer, I’d had periods where I would sit at my desk working as hard as I could but having little to show for my efforts at the end of the day. I remember sitting there surrounded by blank pieces of paper, trying to come up with an amazing style that nobody had ever seen before. I would do one drawing and not be satisfied, so I would lay a new piece of paper over it, re-draw it with slight changes to features here and there. This would still not be good enough so I would put another piece of paper over my revision, make more minor adjustments trying to perfect this new style I was searching for.
I did this for weeks on end, tweaking and polishing over and over, working hard every day. But in the end, did I come up with a brand new style, something amazing that

Bring your Type to Life
This may sound abstract at first, but to keep the theme as open as possible, I choose a rather abstract title. There are many directions in which you can go. You could choose an anthropomorphic direction, where you breathe life into letters and give them human or other animate characteristics. Another route would be to create the letters out of living objects, such as plants or animals.
Which direction you choose, maybe even a third or fourth one, does not matter. What matters is that your letters are brought to life!
What kind of letters you bring to life, words, glyphs or sentences, is 100% up to you. This contest has a more visual approach, so you will not be judged on the creativity of the meaning you choose to give to the letters. However, don't rush it! Even one letter can appear completely different than another. Be wise with the letters, word
Un peu degoutee... in Personal More Like This

'Life Drawing 5' by algaegoblin
Do you know how to sketch human figures but do you want to refine your anatomy skills? Or do you not know anatomy at all and you are tired to trust your imagination? Did you notice you create disproportions in your drawings?
If you are aspiring artists and you already have your own style, you might as well believe you have no need of a guide, but you are wrong. Before exaggerating human proportions and begin to have your own style, you first have to know the basics.
This little guide is the result of an accurate research and 5 years of high school of art, and it's created for all those who want to learn something new or just make a useful review.
For those who have already studied art, my suggestion is to go to step 6 or trying to repeat all steps in Digital format.
First of all, if you want to learn faster you should draw using traditi
Gallery Description ProjectMost of you probably are aware that deviantART has a lot of categories. As you've seen over the past few months, we volunteers, in coordination with Moonbeam13, often help to orchestrate various changes in category structure in order to make the submission and browsing experiences simpler and more advantageous for the community.Gallery Description Project in Deviant Events More Like This
That said, there's another aspect of categories which, sadly, often have been overlooked. I'm referring to the Gallery Descriptions. Over time, gallery descriptions have fallen into disarray, leaving many categories with old and outdated descriptions, others with incorrect descriptions, and yet others without a description at all.
At the moment, gallery descriptions are most prominent when submitting new deviations. However, as part of this project, we hope that they will become more evident as you browse the site. One of our goals is to make a simple, navigable category structure focusing on descriptions that are clear, concise, and consistent.
