Arnastapi
Iceland

Our visits to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland have been met largely with inclement weather and even a blizzard once! This scene was shot from the wharf at Arnastapi on a gloomy but still day. If features in www.inspiredbyiceland.com 's video at about the 2:00 minute mark. There are many images of this white house from the area but most focus on the rock formations along the shore. I tried to come up with an image that was different to the norm and so, I walked out on to the rocks of the breakwater /harbour to see what was possible. This was the result.

Couta Rocks
Tasmania

On the North west cost of Tasmania, the coast faces the roaring forties of the southern ocean to the west and the dunes of the Tarkine coast inland. The rugged land came to life on this particular evening when a blue sky day met with fast moving cloud. One of the most striking sunsets I've seen.

This is a link to a video made of stills and HD video taken on our recent trip:

Robe, South Australia

Marianne and travelled to the limestone coast in the state's southeast. The characterisitic feature of the landscapes down there are the weird and wonderful rock formations. This obelisk sits atop a crumbling cliff overlooking the western horizon. On this particular morning, the sunrise was blazing but the light opposite was even more surreal with the cloud formations forming what seemed to be an arch over the skies.

Great Falls National Park, VA. This is a location along the Potomac I have been waiting to capture for many years. Finally got the right combination of water level, clouds and light to make it happen. Taken on Sunday morning at sunrise.

A picturesque sunrise above the Alps with view of the Grat Mountain between Diepen and Rophaien. The grass on the mountain slopes appears very soft in the morning light. The contrast between light and shadow accentuates the curved slopes of the Grat very nicely.

A stunning blaze of colors above the highest mountain of the Alps rising 4810 m above sea level. The panorama shows the reflection of the Mont Blanc Massif in a small mountain lake not far from the ‘Aiguillette du Brevent’.

Last colors of a magic sunset after a short thunderstorm over the Mount Aiguille, a well known summit of Vercors Natural Park in french Alps.
I remember the contrast between the color of the sky and the freshness of theses big plants in the foreground called "verâtres" in french :)

Arriving at night, the conditions that greeted us on our first morning in Inverpolly/Assynt certainly weren't welcoming but there was plenty of drama. The prevalent rock type of the area is Torridonian sandstone, it formed more than a billion years ago.

I went to bed at around 10.30 got up at 1am to shoot the stars and didnt get back to sleep again until gone 2.30. Then it was time for my 4am alarm and the final ascent of Stac Pollaidh.

One thing I can do is motivate myself to get up when I know there is a good photo up for grabs and this may well be the most spectacular scene I have ever seen. Although I am very confident with my technique I checked my settings more than twice to make sure everything was perfect. The final image is 34mp composed of 4 horizontal frames with massive overlaps (to protect against sun flare issues) In all it took me about 2hrs30 minutes to stitch the images (I had to set up the points myself) and remove all the flares) and a further 30 minutes to correct the image. As such this is my most time consuming process ever but the reults stand up to scrutiny hopefully!

Yosemite Tunnel View .
Designated a world heritage site in 1984 , Yosemite National park see over 3.7 million vistors every year . Spanning eastern portions of Tuolumne , Mariposa and Madera counties in east central California , United States. The park covers an area of 761,268 acres . It best known for its waterfalls and giant granite cliff faces , but also within , you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more . The Yosemite National park would be one of the favorite national parks for landscape photographers to travel to and it was easy to see why during my visit . I only stayed 5 short days and didnt get stunning light and some of the roads were still closed but I was amazed to say the least . This was a 10 image stitch taken from Tunnel view over looking the valley .
Was thinking a black and white conversion would work well with this image .

Not one of my most recent photos. To be honest I haven't shot any seascapes in months. I miss it so much!! Anyway, Choas on the Mid North Coast, NSW Australia, as an afternoon storm hits the beautiful Hungry Head, Urunga.

The waves were pounding the shoreline, so heavy and in huge sets. You can't even seen the distant horizon in this one, the spray from the waves quickly evaporating into humid summer air.
