Wolves, Love and Pincushions - PrologueHe’d always hated funerals, they were a reminder that hunting was not without its risks. Dominique bit down on his lower lip, daring a glance at his mother standing next to him. She hadn’t said much since they’d found his brother’s bloody clothing by the servants entrance. She hadn’t had to, it was clear enough what had happened to Augustin. Dominique looked up and at Adele, seeing the tear track that streaked his mother’s face. Augustin had been her favorite, the one most like her in temperament and it was hard not to resent his older brother for it, even in death. Then again, maybe Adele’s upset was understandable, she’d lost a brother- two of them and a younger sister in the aftermath of a Scottish rebellion. Losing a son as well…
He tried to focus on what the priest was saying but his thoughts kept wandering, back to the night Augustin had died and the wolv

She turned away, shoulders slumping as the black and white picture printed on the sheet. Everyone from the police to her parents thought that Seymon had died in a car accident on the night of his twenty-fourth birthday. He’d been out drinking, one or two of their friends had said, it was understandable. But why then had they not been able to claim his body? It didn’t make sense to her.
When asked, the EMT’s had said that Seymon had died before he’d ever gotten to the hospital. Her parents had accepted the ‘reasoning’ without a word of protest. She was less sure and less willing to believe that story. The
Ghost StoryCaisteal Dhuni was a ruin but that was what made it such a fascinating place for her. The history, and in part the temptation to go where she wasn’t allowed to, normally. He sighed, pulling the scrap of ribbon from his hair and ran a hand through the dark strands. The twins had wanted to come but he’d refused them, the hours it took to find and track a deer were his. Ewan had guessed at that and nodded briefly, taking Jamie and Adele aside to speak with them. Long enough for him to make good on his escape. Off the beaten trackThere was little to differentiate this land from Egypt itself, save that the temples and streets that she knew were gone. All that existed here was a vast emptiness. The very street that she had walked many days earlier was gone. A few of the more fearful women sank to their knees and wept or pulled at their garments. No crime had seemed unthinkable to him, theft, murder and worse, if the tales were true. He felt a shiver at the thought and with it, a piece of pleasure. He was not a violent man but he was a king’s man like his father before him. These pirates deserved their fates when they were captured. Traitors and thieves, the lot of them.
He whistled absently, giving a short nod to the two men stationed outside of the prison as he swung the keys around a finger. “I’m here to see Mr. Gray.”
Mr. Gray, not captain. It galled him to even address the man as if he was a gentleman. If he’d had his way, he’d have the pirate swinging from the gallows as a warning to others of his ilk.

Chapter 1: PAGE 8Exactly on the moment the class timer turned 09.00, the door to the classroom opened again and the teacher walked in. To Dailon´s surprise it was a teacher he had never seen before in his entire time at the academy. While this should not have been strange as there are over fifty thousand teachers, masters and other staff in the Institute, he and Gaikor had made an intensive study towards the staff. Off course it was possible that they missed a few or simply did not remember them, but there was no way they would have missed this person. From the corners of his eyes he noticed Gaikor sat up a few inches straighter then usual and the tips of his fingers seemed to be a bit tighter pressed together, confirming he felt the same way.Chapter 1: PAGE 8 in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

Perhaps it was born in the aftermath of the destruction, an accumulation of the horror that occurred within mere seconds. As said, nobody really knows. All that we known is that suddenly it was there and it tried to wipe out humanity.Chapter 2: PAGE 9 in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
The records show that it did not try to attack directly though. In fact there is not even a report that anyone has seen the entity with their own eyes. Perhaps it was just a belief people held to explain the terrible things that were happening.
Wherever people were prospering bad things started occurring. One settlement reported that within a matter of days, their farming areas were overrun by a big green skinned type of humanoid beast. The weird thing is that in the eighty years they lived there, never had there been anything sighted more dangerous then the average wolf or other wild animal.

During their entire education they had been deprived of the entire concept of technology and this was their first encounter. What caught the teachers eyes though was the fact that the youngest among them, Dailon did not move a muscle. After looking one time to both sides, he simply crossed his arms and smiled. For a second his gaze stayed with the young student and he even seemed to smile a bit. Denoples never said a word though, neither to encourage him to take it or to scold him. Instead he just stood there patiently with the lantern in his hand. To Dailon he looked a bit like a man trying to lure a bird with delicious food, in order to get it to trust him.
He knew he only had two choices though. Either not taking it as he mistrusted the headmaster or to take it as a sign of trust. Neither options were bad, though in the end he decided it be better to go along with it and figure out what was going on. It was dark and he did not have any information he coul

Each step hit the ground with such force that it left an imprint in the solid rock and with each echo the cave seemed to tremble, causing little rocks and dust to fall from the ceiling. As he shot out of the mouth of the cave, like a bullet being propelled from a gun, a genuine smile was playing at the edges of his mouth.
So far everything had been going like planned. He got the students out of the Institute and soon Denoples would have them convinced to stay. If there was one thing that the man was good at, besides drinking, it was manipulation. It was also the only reason he ever got the job as a headmaster. Though he knew that would soon be over too.
The decision had already been made. After the staged attack on the
Chapter 1: PAGE 14Dailon could tell from the teacher`s posture he did not fear the young student charging him. Considering the enormous amount of energy he had displayed earlier, it was a logical assumption. He was completely relaxed and only summoned a little energy into his left hand and arm. The teacher did not even bother to draw a weapon and just watched with a tiny smile as Gaikor rushed through the room using the desks like stepping stones.Chapter 1: PAGE 14 in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
`That is a mistake` Dailon thought as Gaikor took a final long jump and skipped the last 5 desk, drawing his long battle pole in mid air. He knew that the teacher had severely underestimated his opponent. Having trained with his friends often after school, he knew the low energy out put was a ruse to lull his opponent into a false sense of security. To be honest Gaikor was the only person he had ever fought he considered a genius when it came to fighting and he had never been able to beat him.

He was telling the truth whether they believed it or not. “We can therefor state that the ‘white fortress’ easily measures up with the biggest cities of humanity created during their peak era. The big difference is that the fortress is as far as we can tell one big building.” He waited a second before dropping the final so called bomb, giving the students a bit of time to process it all.Chapter 1: PAGE 20 in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

Chapter 1: PAGE 12“Now please remove her before this interrupts the schedule.” He said slightly annoyed as he noticed nobody seemed to move to full fill his request. Nobody even seemed to breath anymore as everyone fixed their eyes upon either Gaikor or the teacher. Gaikor was best know for his temper, especially when it came to girls. Yet this reaction seemed odd even for him. He just stood there motionless, holding the girls hands quite and whispering her name softly over and over again.Chapter 1: PAGE 12 in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
It was something that Gaikor had been keeping a secret. To protect his `reputation` he called it, though most likely because there harsh penalty for having a relationship in the Institute. For some reason it was okay to be a whore and sleep with as much girls as possible. Yet developing a meaningful relationship with a girl was strictly forbidden. It had something to do with the fact that love makes you soft, yet trying to impress girls enough to sleep with you seemed only to increase the competition.
Chapter 1: PAGE 19“You all know it under the name off White Fortress.” He said casually and then waited till everyone looked back at him. “The white fortress, is not really a fortress though, despite its given name. It was given the name due to the fact that it is white off course, but most importantly is that we can never hope to breach its defenses. "I'm fine, Dad."
Earth… is not. But Samantha couldn't bring herself to say that. She'd been practicing for almost a half hour before punching in the familiar IP address for Horizon. The four disconnections before finally reaching the colony had dissolved what little courage Sam had built up, however. As had the tense 32 hour journey at FTL speed, mostly spent staring blankly at the ANN alert about the full scale retreat from Earth.
The Normandy crew was quietly separate and grieving. Everyone felt lost. Conversations with her fellow crew members were either clipped or hysterical. Before, they would gather in the mess at lunch to joke and laugh. Lucas, Xian and Sam would bore the others to tears with chatter about new leaps in QEC tech. The boys in the guidance system, Hertzfeld and Douglas, loved comparing Alliance, turian, asari, and salarian ships like they would baseball teams bac

"Do you want to do it here? I don't fancy doing it in the middle of the Crew Deck. People can see us."
"My offer to do it in my cabin still stands. Plenty of privacy."
"Until I leave and it looks like a walk of shame."
"Are you ashamed, Samantha?"
"That's not what I—it's a figure of speech, Liara."
"Oh. Glyph has noted that you have spent some time down below the Engineering Deck. Would that be a better location for privacy?"
"You want to do this under the drive core? Hardly romantic for a first time. Plus, it's dark down there. I could barely see what I'm doing."
"I am running out of suggestions. Perhaps we can do this now, and for any subsequent meetings you pick the place."
"But my shift is starting soon. Unless you think we can do this quickly."
"I would prefer this not be rushed. We can do it later."
"Are you sure? I can do it now… I'm gonna need some help, though. I've never done this before."
"Would you like to see it?"

Let's see here... 13 to one odds I get thrown out an airlock? Maybe… eight to one I get a creepy ESP reading where I'm told I would have made an excellent slave or something.
Three to one I unsuccessfully avoid wetting myself.
Taking a few cleansing breaths, Samantha clenched and unclenched her fist.
"Are you all right, dear? You look pale," Dr. Karin Chakwas inquired at Sam's elbow. The two women were sharing a very slow (and yet, too fast) elevator ride down to the Engineering Deck. Sam swallowed and smiled unconvincingly at the older woman.
"Just a little ...anxious. I don't fancy pissing off the second angriest person in the galaxy by botching a comm implant." At least Shepard already has all her implants.
Karin studied Sam's face before softly asking, "What colony was it?"
"How did you know?" The comms specialist was incredulous. Was I that obvious?
"Traynor, I know exactly what you've been through. Your face is like looking in a mirror."

Yawning deeply, Samantha didn't care that she was barefoot in the Mess Hall. Her throbbing feet welcomed the cool metal floor, though they would honestly prefer she be sitting down. Instead, the comms specialist hopped from one aching foot to the other while she waffled indecisively outside Liara's door.
Six hours in the pair of heels Sam now carried in the crook of her elbow had been far too long for her unpracticed ankles. But the war summit had been a long, suspenseful waiting game. Only Shepard (and EDI) knew what went on in that conference room. The rest of the crew, like Samantha, had been stuck ambling around their work stations trying to look productive.
Other than gleefully watching Shepard's inbox fill up with elcor-themed junk mail and poking through the QEC feeds, the overdressed comms specialist had passed the time quietly playing a strategy game on her Omni-tool. A new one had just come out, Blood Feud, from one of her favorite game publishers. As a leader of a mercenary

"Are you all right, Samantha?"
"I'm all right."
"You're sure? Sammy, we saw the news. Are you really okay?"
"I'm really fine, mum."
The claustrophobia of the top bunk in the Crew Deck Quarters made Sam feel like her mother was right in her face. An Omni-tool window was about three inches from Sam's eyes and balanced above her left forearm. Her right arm was propping up the comms specialist's chin as a makeshift pillow.
"Was it—was it the Reapers? Did they… attack the Citadel?" Priya Suresh-Traynor's voice grew hushed. Geoffrey Traynor could be heard quietly lecturing his wife in the background, "You know that's always classified, honey. She can't tell us details."
"I can see how you might think that, after everything going on. But no. Not Reapers," Samantha sighed into her wrist. She stopped just short of wishing it had been Reapers, but knew that was a stupid, terrible lie. "When the ANN says 'the Normandy stopped an attack on the Citadel,' rarely does that

Samantha was still staring numbly at her console. Her mind was doing an incredible job keeping the unruly mob of emotion at bay, because otherwise she'd probably just explode into nonsense in the middle of the war room.
Under normal circumstances, the Communications Specialist was (arguably) one of the best tactical positions on the ship. Eyes and ears on the field, but safely tucked away from the threat. Always in the know.
Sam would give anything to not know what was happening on Tuchanka right now. Or at least hear about it later as one of those briefly-alarming-but-everything-works-out anecdotes that soldiers are so fond of telling. Usually in a bar. Preferably in a bar.
...is Shepard one of those kinds of soldiers? I never asked.
Not for lack of opportunity. You ran into Shepard in a bar on the Citadel, remember?
I do remember. Vividly.

"Um, a question from the floor."
Samantha raised her hand like Little Sam would have done back in grade school. The situation felt similar. A strange, intimidating place. Familiar and inspiring, but also slightly uncomfortable. All eyes on her. And a very stern, patient professor explaining something Sam didn't (couldn't?) understand.
Dr. Liara T'Soni swiveled in her chair, turning away from her wall of screens to watch the comms specialist expectantly. She only needed to peer down a pair of rimmed glasses to complete the illusion.
Sam cleared her throat and cocked her head slightly, hoping she was just hard of hearing. "…You did say 'killed Shepard,' right?"
There was a noticeable stiffening of Liara's posture, as well as a brief flash of pain in her eyes. But she still said nothing and let Sam continue.
"By 'killed,' do you mean… like… killed killed? In the biblical sense? Physical sense? Literal sense? Commander Shepard… our Commander

Lowering her palm, Samantha Traynor whipped it up in a smooth motion. It connected with the back of Joker's head, knocking his SR2 cap clean off his head.
"Hey! What the shit, Traynor?" Joker squawked as he lurched forward in his chair. He fumbled to right the hat over his messy swath of red hair. "I'm just, oh I don't know, flying the damn ship that keeps us alive? Are you trying to make us end up ass-first in a supernova?"
Sam sniffed disdainfully, crossing her arms over her chest. "Oh cry me a river, you big baby. That's for lying to me about EDI."
Joker finished swiping across the pilot interface to correct their flight path to Menae before turning his chair. "Yea, well… I didn't know if I could trust you. I already had two Alliance cheerleaders up my ass about working with Cerberus." He stuck a thumb out at Private Sarah Campbell, who had taken a break from security duty for the war room to mingle with one of the handsome new ensigns. Her "cheerlea

Samantha drummed her fingertips on the low table. A subconscious nervous twitch. She had been racking her brain all morning and the stress was starting to show. Even hours of analyzing and self-reflecting brought her no closer to a satisfactory conclusion.
Staying up incredibly late and getting next to no sleep certainly wasn't helping, either.
Luckily, the hustle and bustle of the Citadel Docks Holding Area drowned out the comms specialist's drumming, mumbling, huffing and swearing (sometimes all at once). Sam probably looked barking mad, but at least she was in good company. The refugee holding area had gotten crowded, even after news of the Council coup d'tat broke. There was nowhere left to go, after all. Clusters of refugees from all races and ages were hunkered down at nearby tables, pensive and melancholy.
Despite the noisy congestion, Sam's behavior had not gone completely unnoticed.
Sam was too immersed in her thoughts to take notice of the hand waving for he

Pulling himself onto his paws using the carpet, and then his bedframe, Alex had to smile through his muzzle. He had achieved what he had set out to do; adrenaline had likely done the trick. His muscles weren’t as sore nor his skin as tingly as they were after his first shift, but his bones still were aching like crazy. His muzzle and hips the most.
Taking a sniff of the air around him, he could catch some of Bailey’ scent from the AC coming under the door. Dropping back to his paws, hoping that would help his pet remain calm, he made his way over to let him in. His dog wasn’t outside the door but a second sniff near the carpet let him pick up his scent again, leading him towards the living room.
Instead of cowering near the couch like before, Bailey had taken a seat on it, making him almost level with his were form. Hoping to try and get him to come, Alex then noticed the line of clothing he ha

Listening to the outside noises, he heard wind blowing against the truck, but nothing else; his shaky breathing thankfully didn’t echo inside of the truck bed. Taking a sniff of the air, all he could smell was his own sweat, his clothing, his breath with the steak spices on it, and an old trace of soda. The latter two reminding him that he was in for a hunger attack soon.
He would have to endure it. Sans any soreness, Alex felt shaky at the thought of how his friends were reacting not even five feet from where he was.
Listening again, he finally heard a voice. “Think he’s OK?” It was Catherine.
“I think so.” This time it was Nathan.
Unable to tell if they were saying those things out of fear or concern, Alex reached out with one paw and tapped the liner twice. He wanted to talk instead, but for now, this would work. Better they not look like they were talking to a caged ani

Finishing off the last of the second sub and his soda, Alex headed back outside. Once back on his motorcycle, he thought through all the places he had found this guy. The first was the park, too far away from where he was now. Then, Catherine’s place of work and Nathan’s, both relatively close. One near his neighborhood, and the last two where he was now.
Starting the engine, he made his way over to Gamestop first. Nathan’s car wasn’t there, but the store was lightly packed. Looking through the windows while he pretended to mess around with his phone, he didn’t see anyone with grey clothing or black and bleached hair. Although that made him feel hopeful, he had to check for his scent to be sure.
Heading inside and doing a full walk of the store, as small as it was, Alex felt more like a wolf than a civilian as he kept near the floor, checking for that scent. Even more so than a month befor

Over a few seconds, both Alex and Marcus's gazes went back and forth over all the customers; there were eight in total. Mostly younger kids with a few adults. Many of them browsing but all of them had their heads and hair exposed; none with black. The person Alex had seen wearing red was in fact a woman in a windbreaker.
Relieved, but also a bit embarrassed, he felt Marcus tap his shoulder, asking if he was hungry as well. “A little.” He responded, glad to know his friend hadn’t used the excuse just to intercept him.
“I’ll grab you a burger from Ruckers, then.”
“Thanks, and medium rare is fine with me.”
However, no sooner had Marcus nodded to him than another customer entered the store. Looking over, Alex saw the face first. He didn’t need to see the hair after that. His attacker had ditched his red hoodie, leaving an untucked T-shirt.

Once in his helmet and his motorcycle running, Alex found the first gap in the traffic and punched the accelerator. The sounds of the engine and the wind against his clothing couldn’t mask the worry he was feeling from driving towards that location, and possibly encountering Shane.
But then, what if he didn’t? What if he was already gone? There was always that possibility. The drive to the location his father told him about was at least twenty minutes; the rush hour traffic on the highway nearby however was a sign it would take longer. Chances were good he would be gone by the time he got there. It was still daytime as well.
“Ugh. C’mon, think. What can I do when I get there?”
With the police at the location, the most he could visibly do was watch and observe. But then, he could tell by scent if Shane was there, if the wind was blowing the ri

The following morning, Alex woke to his bones and muscles still feeling sore from the reverse shift; his calves and ribs the worst among that. He expected his enhanced healing to alleviate those feelings at some point, but he’d been though similar stints before. Hours of continuous skating and bailing being the cause for that.
Bailey was up right along with him, heading to his parents’ bedroom door soon after and staring at the doorknob. Seeing his dog turn his head his direction as he came close, Alex rubbed Bailey’ head between the ears and followed him outside. Like the day before, outside it was still a bit cold.
With only a T-shirt and shorts on, he was soon shivering as he stood outside. “Brr. Guess that fur had some uses.” As that thought went through his head, Alex quickly remembered the bag of shed fur he had tossed out the prior day. His folks hadn’t aske

The only thing on his mind then was that he’d succeeded at shifting both into and out of his were form. Returning to the kitchen to find his friends and family waiting for him, some of them had very questioning looks on their faces. Despite that, and the soreness of his bones and muscles after the shift, Alex was ecstatic and his grin didn’t leave his face for long.
However, while riding with his friends to pick up his motorcycle, his enthusiasm took a slight hit; all three of them were eerily quiet during the ride. As though they were afraid to say anything. Judging by their scents, they weren’t afraid. Maybe deep in thought, or thinking about something else.

To his surprise when he awoke the next morning, lying at the side of his bed was his helmet and backpack, the shattered deck still attached to it. Remembering that he had left them behind at the park the previous night in his haste to run, he expected his father to ask why he had done such a thing. As soon as he sat down for breakfast with a plate of pancakes, the questions came.
“Son, why did you leave your things at the park last night?” In Alex's struggle to figure out an answer that would sound convincing, his stalling letting his dad continue. “Were you doing something there last night?”

Behind him was his mother’s sedan, to his left a clear run to the front door, and his right the garage door. The front door was the most appealing, but if the gate came open he would be seen. With his breaths through his nose, Alex could tell his father hadn’t gotten out of his uniform yet. Nor had he taken off his utility belt or handgun.
Hoping not to get himself shot, or threatened with it, Alex backed away from the truck, keeping the cars between himself and his dad. Hearing him tell Bailey to sit and stay, a groan sounded from his pet and the side gate opened. His footfalls circled the side and back of the truck as Alex continued to back away from him.
With the sun already down, his father pulled out a flashlight and clicked it on. The initial sweep of the beam missed a part of his pelt, causing him to duck, but his father had stopped moving while wielding it. That only meant one thing.

Andrew woke up the next morning, feeling new circles underneath his eyes. He had been up all night thinking about what he saw, and the same thoughts once again flooded his mind as he lifted his head off his pillow. Rabeka is in trouble, he thought. I'm the only one who can do something about it. I'm the only one who can truly help her.
The more he thought about it, the more didn't want to get involved, but he couldn't get the voice of the man behind the doorthe twisted grindy tone of his voiceand the things he said to her out of his mind.

Rabeka stepped out of the warm shower to muffled music coming from downstairs. She stood silently to listen, then rolled her eyes at the style of the music; jazz.

She pulled her hair up in a messy up-do, and searched everywhere in his cabinets for hairspray. She didn't expect to find any, but settled on an almost empty can of mousse instead.
After she was satisfied, she opened the door to the bathroom to smell of bacon. She smiled and bounced with happiness, despite the heavy jazz music being played.

The doors of the jazz club finally opened and people began filing in and out. Andrew and Rabeka looked at each other in delight as the line moved slowly but surely into the club.
Andrew could smell the sweet aroma of food, especially meat. He hadn't had any adequate nutrition earlier in the day. He desperately needed to get some meat into his system, or he'd grow too hungry to bare it.
The inside of the club was a dark smoky atmosphere, yet it still had that 'cool' factor that Andrew loved.
Rabeka was impressed, it was not at all what she thought it would be. She linked arms with Andrew as they walked through he doors, making Andrew blush.
An attractive waitress walked up to both of them. She gave Andrew a flirtatious look, but Rabeka didn't seen to care. Hi, welcome to Smoke, would you like the bar or a booth?

The sound of his name grew louder and more clear until it was familiar and warming. Rabeka was frantically yelling his name out to wake him up. Somewhere he found the will to move, slowly lifting his head, his neck aching the entire way. His eyes squinted at first, but eventually opened. He sneaked around the corner to where the stairs were, waiting for a nearby neighbor to clear the hallway before motioning for Rabeka to come out of the apartment. Let it burn, let it burn
My friend is afraid,
speaks in hushed tones.
My love is grieving,
and I am alone
I hope for redemption,
but I'm certain of yours, even though
you couldn't even say
so much as a "hello"....
I climbed the stairs and watched the music
as my life began to drain
for all my books and reading
the fears and doubts remain
let it burn, let it burn
Fire in the schoolhouse
whisper in the halls

BeMaybe I'll never be famousBe in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
then again, maybe I will
and maybe I have to embrace this
lest my tomorrows stand still.
But I breathe just for now
We can make it somehow
Close your eyes,
injustice happens all the time
but there's peace in this world
at least for tonight
Cast off your worries and your sorrows,
let them lie there 'till tomorrow
Because I know that I love you
and that you love me,
so forget what's to do
Instead, we will be....
Perhaps there will always be someone
who puts all my best work to shame
but if I don't try, then I'm living a lie
for the loss of my dreams, I'm to blame.
And maybe I'm vain and dishonest
useless, a dreamer, one without ambition
wasting my mind on silly things
wrestling with my own lack of conviction
No black or white, just shades of grey
But if I'm good enough for you,
then maybe it's true
that I'm not quite what they say...
Close your eyes,
injustice happens all the time
but somehow we all need
to seek peace of mind
Set down your worries and yo

I've come to prefer
blank white sketchbooks
because, like in kindergarten,
I don't have to write

I got very little sleep last night.
I stare out the window, wishing you could see
the mist rolling over the mountains
In that moment, I wouldn't be surprised
if all the unicorns
came charging out of the forest
to take me back to the Fair Folk,
among those trees.
A song comes on, reminding me of you,
or more specifically
of an evening, several months ago, when I
cleaned my room
and listened to K.D. Lang on my iPod,
mild songs I could sing along to
a fertile ground to nurture
my sweet nostalgic thoughts
the dreamy smile that didn't break
with my family's snide comments.
I drift slowly into my dreams, just as I did
the day before yesterday
when I floated in a kayak
on the clear water of the lake,
gently rippling from the breeze.
I floated among hundreds upon hundreds
of ghostly yellow and white lilies
fragrant and other-worldly
like tiny spirit maidens
dancing on the surface of the water.

I am terrified
this letter I write, in full knowledge
you're going to do the same thing
and make me figure this out on my own
"You're a big girl..."
but I need guidance
I'm afraid to choose
so I'm afraid to let myself
I'm scared of the ambition and burning desire
that's building inside me; something
I've never seen
But you see, I want to be,
up there in front of thousands
and I want to hear the audience singing along
many said, you've got the talent
you just have to want it badly enough
now I'm ready to scream it
(I do, really I do want)
But I'm afraid
scared of what people will say
"You're throwing your life away
working on your music....
you'd better practise saying
'Fries with that?'
You can live in your sister's basement"
what the hell did you set me up for?
Couldn't you make me such
that I want something else,
like a job that's respectable, with a regular pay cheque,
and maybe you could've given me
that blind respect for authority
that's valued so well i

in the centre of the forest, surrounded
by the sounds and the colours,
the sunlight coming in
green and blue,
bright, warm and cheerful.
I want to watch the fire dance
in your eyes,
kiss you under the infinite
Sing, and laugh, fall asleep
in your arms.
Scream my joys out into the abyss.
Look out on shining cities
from fourteen stories up,
see the lights twinkle
To sleep late in the mornings, watching the sun
filter in through the curtains
then get up
and explore every corner of this world
with you always there,
close to me.
Read my lips:
the quiet smile that hides
all my excitement.
I wish to taste fresh strawberries
at five A.M. in midsummer,
and the stinging cold ocean water
on my skin.
Chocolate, victory, and kisses...
To skip through the streets with your hand in mine,
play my guitar to the sound of the rain
falling on the roof.
To bathe in the river, some place where there's no one
Hear you laugh, every day,
forever and ever
I Will WalkWhy do we whisperI Will Walk in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
when we need to scream?
Why do we falter
when we should
that forgotten dream?
Well, I will follow you
to the ends of the earth,
I will walk the miles
until my feet begin to bleed
I swear I will!
Why do we hold
our silver tongues
when there is something
to be said?
And why is it
that when I need
my heart the most
I only use
Sometimes we follow
when we need to lead.
And I don't want to whine
so I tell you I'm fine
when I'm deepest in need.
But I will hold you close, my dear
when no one else
in this world
And I will carry my love
in my heart
'till time collapses
in our hands,
in our hands
Well, I will follow you
to the ends of the earth,
I will walk the miles
until my feet begin to bleed
I swear I will!

in other worlds
Between the black lines of text
against white pages
lay my canvas, where I painted
on and upward
slick with rain
on a ancient road
from an idle glowing mind,
I drew out
a forest, enchanted
where I could be brave enough
to love someone
A castle with spires
reaching up into the clouds
where I lived and practiced
pixies and dragons
I rode on the back
of the pure white unicorn
and I was never alone.
I could be my own hero
defeat the evildoers
I could scrape the stars
in such perfect oblivion
I was never afraid
never cold or lonely
I had a warm home
I had dozens of friends and family
sitting on my bookshelf
awaiting my call.
In my towers
my mountains and waterfalls
my island of Atlantis
the dripping illuminated caverns
and blazing-hot rooftops
the vivid battles
the oceans to conquer
forbidden, forgotten lands
here I hid.
I didn't have to cry
from pain of neglect
