Dragons and GypsiesThe dragon opened one large eye with a lazy rumble…a few faint tendrils of smoke rising up from her nostrils as she opened her muzzle to speak.Dragons and Gypsies in Short Stories More Like This
“Going somewhere, gypsy?”…She raised a brow ridge in question, seeing the color clad woman heading for the cave’s entrance, her back to the dragon now…and judging by her scent, she’d been trying to sneak out….
Samira went rigid at the sound of Livia’s low tone, before she turned to face her scaled keeper…and she put on an innocent smile. “Oh…y-yes, actually… I was just going to go out to the river to fetch some water, maybe try for a bit of fishing if luck decides to smile on me…”
“Luck~…hm…” The dragoness lifted her horned head from her bed of gold and yawned before she flicked her tail. “You’re a gypsy, you have plenty of luck, girly….you’ll be sure to catch lots of fish.” Her forked tongue
Challenge 85- SongThere was nothing quite as comforting as the smell of the forest…the warmth of the dappled sunlight scattered through the treetops to create patterns of gold across the earthen floor.Challenge 85- Song in Short Stories More Like This
Livia smiled, glancing back to the abandoned path…before continuing on her way. She had a path of her own now…the trail faintly worn into the ground by now with how many times she’d taken it. She knew it by heart now…and yet it never got old.
The forest had once been a place of fear….a realm of the unknown and dangerous. But, while it was still a place to be revered and feared…she’d learned most of its ways….she had friends here…and the forest understood that she was a guest now. Not an intruder.
Whistling softly, she tucked the small plastic container under an arm as she hopped across a narrow stream, the water babbling along with her melody as she passed…
She was here to visit…
Brown eyes wide, she looked around at the tow
Challenge 54- Froof“So…what did you order?” Zev raised a brow as his girlfriend settled down across from him in one of the quaint little wireframe café chair. He lifted his drink, jade eyes smiling at her even as he blew a cool breath of frost across the rich coffee to help cool it, before taking a careful sip. He eyed her drink though….taking notice of the mountain of whipped cream that well cleared the rim of her mug…a drizzle of caramel swirling across the fluffy white and speckled with flecks of sea salt. It looked more like dessert than a cup of coffee.Challenge 54- Froof in Short Stories More Like This
Livia grinned widely, hands carefully wrapped around the ceramic mug as she settled down.
“A salted caramel mocha~” She practically purred in delight, carefully blowing on her own drink as she leaned down to lick a bit of the whipped cream off the top of the small peak.
The frost giant blinked, his hum of delight at his own coffee practically dying in his throat as he raised his silver brows.
A Ride for Two“So... Finn's work, is it?” Dean asked, absentmindedly scanning his surroundings: the devastated town, made now only of badly piled stones and mounds of dust, and the Horseman looming high over it, the terrible – but familiar – figure of the gigantic blond towering in the barren landscape.A Ride for Two in Short Stories More Like This
“Na... actually it's Kai's.” Tyre shrugged, crouching down and extending a hand towards the Deathbringer to collect the souls that the man had reaped from the debris.
“Kai's? … Doesn't seem his style.” Dean looked again and it still did seem like a massacre, not the work of Famine.
“Oi, he brought th'hunger... an'humans did th'rest. People get insane when there's nothin' t'eat, lad.” Death rumbled “Speakin' o'which... time fer breakfast.” the giant licked his lips and gently purred as he opened wide and dropped the squirming souls in his mouth, savoring the elaborate layers of taste as the deceased made their ways down his
1 - Long Night“And this is it...” Dean whispered, hopping down from a crack in the wall to land softly on the floor, gesturing the human walking just behind him to follow him... but then he remembered that Neros was far from being in top shape, and so he turned back to offer him a hand down.1 - Long Night in Short Stories More Like This
“Wow... nice place you found for yourself, Dean...” Neros chuckled as he looked around the house that the fellow thief led him to.
“Yeah, it's pretty good.” Dean shrugged as he continued to pace through the immense dark hall, the booted steps echoing a bit too loud for Neros' tastes... did Dean get that much careless in the time he didn't see the man?
“So... pretty oblivious landlord here?” Neros asked, grimacing a bit as he tried to keep up with Dean's pace and his ribs didn't like the idea at all.
“Not really...” Dean said dismissively. The owner here could be called in many ways, many insults really, but oblivious wasn't among them.

“What does it seem like to you, kid?” Dean snarled “And anyway... I can't stay here any longer. Who knows when it's gonna to happen again. Or how bad it'll be.” he added more grimly, seriously not wanting to snap at Neros for nothing.
“Fine...” Neros sighed “Still sucks though...”
“And you're telling me?” Dean groaned, ducking to pass in the low rock tunnel that lead to the outside. Of course the passage had been thought out that way to make it impossible, or at least very hard, for people grown out of scale to return to the city after leaving, but it was still pretty annoying.
“In any case... why are you following me, Ner?” Dean asked looking down at the young man... and he couldn't deny the little hint of pleasure in getting to look down at him from that much height... serves the bugger right
5 - Death AwakenedAnother empty husk, a soul getting lost once more... it was starting to get frustrating and in a certain sense eerie.5 - Death Awakened in Short Stories More Like This
Souls getting misplaced after death weren't a unique case, as they could give in to various forms of undeath or be drawn to places or items of great spiritual power... it happened before and it always would happen, making Dean's work a tad more hard, but the odds of things being normal were getting thinner with each missed soul.
Something was up, he was sure of it.
“So? Where's th'dead guy?” Death asked, looking curiously and eagerly down at his companion, noticing instantly that he didn't return bearing a soul waiting to move onwards.
“Hell if I know. Or rather, the body is in there, but the soul... there was none, Tyre.” Dean shrugged, not knowing what to say.
“Again? This is gettin' old real fast... ye're na tryin' t'pull my leg here, Deany?” the Reaper crouched down, glaring with evaluation at Dean, a gaze that could probably see
Thief's LuckToday's trip of daily raiding has been a most successful one.Thief's Luck in Short Stories More Like This
And that should have tipped Neros off... things going too smoothly usually was how disasters started and today didn't seem to want to disagree with the general rule.
There usually were signs warning about the presence of extra security... at least a 'Beware the dog' or something, but this time the guardian beast came as completely unexpected.
Neros had almost managed to walk out from the front garden of the large house he pillaged when he felt that something was amiss and everything clicked into place when he saw the sombre, unadorned and most importantly huge doghouse in his field of vision and a few instants later the terrible beast and its way too many fangs came into sight, but the boy was already running by that point, dashing towards the fence that had more than just one hole wide enough to let him pass through and hoping that his now-full belly wouldn't prove being too heavy to move at top speed.
When he tumbled under
3 - Over that MountainThe ascent on the mountainside was being very slow... the slipperiness of the rocks caked in snow and a freezing glaze of ice made every inch of the climb very difficult, as did the biting gales buffeting into Sam every few seconds, but the summoner has faced worse on her road... it was worry that weighted her down like a second skin made of lead.3 - Over that Mountain in Short Stories More Like This
Zev stayed behind, doing what he could to buy her time on the pursuers from the temple, all a stupid plan that the big dumb lion and Dean had obviously agreed on, else Sam didn't know how to explain the damn bat bringing her all this way across the mountains before letting her down saying that he couldn't go farther in that cold wind... she was way ahead on the road but it just wasn't the same.
Sam knew that Zev wouldn't really pull a suicide plan... hoped he wouldn't, at least. But she couldn't feel calm about it... he was staying behind to take on those that were following her, and that made her feel even more guilty about the whole

After that kind of Monday to start the week the end of it couldn't be but a brilliant and spectacular display of happiness and dazzling excitement, no?
Instead it was Saturday afternoon and Dean was just trying to walk through the cold streets in search of some peace and quiet... which included ignoring the demon that was walking just a step behind him.
“And you're following me... why? I think I'll need a reminder, Holmes.” Dean grumbled with annoyance.
“I think that 'because I can' and 'I feel like it' pretty much cover it, mortal.”
“Well, then go find something else to do, you're annoying me. Don't you have... I don't know some houses to haunt with evil and turn into an horror movie set? Or I'm sure that some satanists will love to have you as a guest star to their whacko meetings. Might get a sacrificial virgin offer that way, you know?” Dean sighed.
“Oh, but I'm not interested in that... come on, we're going to be together for a long time,
5 - Quest for Healing“How long do you plan on just laying there, huh?” the annoyed grumble from the giant only got a soft grunt for reply as the human turned the other way, burying her face deeper in the warm side of the griffin.5 - Quest for Healing in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
“A little longer... I guess... That a problem?” Samira sighed weakly, the words almost apologetic if not for a very difficult to spot hint of challenge to them.
“Fine... just let me know if you plan on getting up before the end of the year, you lazy butt.” Dean grinned as he uttered those teasing words.
Whatever reply the woman gave was just a slur of mixed words, still the giant was pretty sure he heard a “Fuck you, Dean...” in there but he had no time to get mad about it as Samira's eyes closed again soon after that, the gipsy passing out once more.
It was only then that Dean's gray eyes softened with concern as he peered down at the little figure for a moment, a hand tentatively extending towards her only to stop as a wing closed
3 - Somewhere I Belong“G'morning, Samira.” the greeting rang empty and brisk before the door slammed behind Dean. And if the giant was grumpy like that before she even spoke to him... things were going to be interesting today.3 - Somewhere I Belong in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
“... Said the terror of the lands, Dean the Snarky. Come on, big guy... what's wrong?” she knew how things went with him... this kind of angry early in the morning meant only that something went awry while he was outside.
“Poachers.” he replied in a low growl as if that word explained everything. And it kinda did. Big Faron took care of stuff around the forest... and poachers were always bad news in the woods, so they needed to be disposed of. And Dean was the one who would take care of it. It was hard to believe it knowing the brute but... Dean truly did feel something when he killed. Or maybe he just did now that he had a human living with him.
“I see... left one alive to tell the tale?” she asked in a flat voice, not wanting to think
Trick or TrickA soft tug on his arm let Dean know that something has spooked his sister. Yet again.Trick or Trick in Short Stories More Like This
This trip in the so-called haunted manor had been nothing but boring for him thus far but suggestion was playing tricks on Sam and she was jumping at anything and everything. That was part of the challenge though...
“D-Dean... let's go back, okay? It... It's not that important, r-really?” Sam meeped at his side, head darting back in the direction of the entrance.
“It is.” Dean's reply echoed harsh in the void hallway and made Sam freeze for a second “There's more than just the family name at stake here... all the trophies of tonight's house raiding. They shall be ours once again.”
The way in which he said it made going trick-or-treating seem like burglarizing but the point behind it still managed to steel Sam's determination a bit... it was for candy.
Obtained through honest trick-or-treating.
Sam nodded slowly and clung tighter to Dean's arm as sh
