I still have some more art here which I did for the PS3 title Soeldner X 2: Final Prototype a few years ago and which I haven't posted before.
These are storyline artworks appearing in the game.

Developed by Sidequest Studios.

Had fun with this, hope you like. :)
I know the lighting in space looks different, I took some artistic liberties.
I just can't sleep peacefully without my daily dose of ambient light!

READ MY FAQ at bottom

compressed video (from 19 min):

I start almost everyday with a speed paint to warm up the wacom board. I often film these speedies, to keep track on my process and see what I am doing right/wrong. I thought I might wanna start share these with you.

These are SPEED paints. I have a timer I set for 20 min, so most of my speed paints are around 20 min. If a speed paint takes more than 1 hour, I don't think it's a speed paint anymore, then it's an illustration.

I sometimes use my speed paints as start ups for other work, and it's kind of sweet to have a huge folder with "sketches" to choose and pick from if you're running low on ideas some times.

also, there are always things you see as soon as the time is up, that you realize you should have done different, and there are always loads of stuff you miss or do wrong. But the important thing is just to nail something, a feeling and basic design in 20 min. This one is done in 19 min.

FAQ:

Q: you should have music on your clips?
A: NO no and NO. I fu*king hate music in clips like this since I always listen to other music myself. and just get annoyed with tutorials with cheesy sounds on it. And, I don't have time to sit and make these with sounds.

Q: What program did you use?
A: Photoshop CS3 and and a wacom Intous 3 to go with that.

Q: Where did you get your custom brushes?
A: from everywhere. friends and internet

Q: Can you share your brushes?
A. Maybe someday I will.

Q: Do you know when you start what it will be?
A: no, almost never. I go with the flow and it often changes under the process.

Q. at *insert random number* min/sec in the clip, you do this and that and I cant really see what is happening, do you mind to tell me about and explain it all?
A. no I am sorry no (I don't have the time to sit and write x number of ppl personal tutorials etc - further on, there will be properly done video tutorials from me)

Q. You should have commentary over your clip?
A. I will make proper full length tutorial further on. these are just quick uploads.

Q. You should work for gaming Industry?
A. I do

Q. Why just all this speedies?

FAQ:

Q: you should have music on your clips?
A: I record these as a quick note. I simply dont have time to put music over it, and edit these. It takes enough time already to make them and upload them on a daily basis

Q: What program did you use?
A: Photoshop CS3 and and a wacom Intous 3.

Q: Where did you get your custom brushes?
A: from everywhere. friends and internetz, a mix

Q: Can you share your brushes?
A. I will try to put together a pack and share/post via my homepage in the future

Q: Do you know when you start what it will be?
A: no, almost never. I go with the flow and it often changes under the process. Thats why it often turn out like poop. sometimes it take 85% of the time to just find some interesting to take further.

What you probably is asking me is the coloring thing I often do. It is just color on a separate layer on top of the image and then I go thru the different layer blend-modes.

Neo-Paris 2084,
Augmented reality and memory manipulation have taken control of peoples’ lives.
You can now digitize, buy, sell or trade your own personal memories. The last remainders of intimacy have been swept away, in what appears to be a simple extension of the development of social networks and geolocation at the beginning of the 21st century.
The “surveillance society” has been accepted by the citizens themselves, in exchange for a few technological benefits. It is a reality that no one even thinks of challenging anymore.
This memory-based economy gives an immense yet uncontrollable power to a handful of people…

Heavy Cruiser Hammer

2 Ion Cannon – ионные орудия среднего класса.
2 Torpedo Launcher – пара торпедных аппаратов средней мощности, большой радиус поражения, разрушительные повреждения устройствам. Установлены на одной вращающейся турели.

Another livestream semi-speed paint. Tried out the flagship again, not perfect yet, I'll have to 3D model it to get it right. Should I spend another sitting on this to get a fleet in there?

The command flagship for the Protectorate fleet.
-It's dual hull design aids in redundancy should it ever be found in heavy fighting. The lower hull is largely filled out by a massive staging hangar for defensive ships and a sizable ground force.
The upper hull houses the majority of the crew, who's accommodations are considered lavish for a space vessel, this for the large number of officers often on board.
-The ship is also equipped with extensive processing and maintenance facilities, it can support it's crew and provide extensive repair capabilities for local forces when planet based facilities are not available.
-4 main rail guns along it's 2 noses are it's main anti warship armament. These can fire a variety of munitions, guided or not, at firing rates up to high enough that more than one round can be moving down a rail at once, if needed.
-Warships all carry a common tech shielding that disperses energy weapons, this is why most ships use projectile weapons. Should an enemy ships shielding be disrupted, this flagship contains a laser generation system. 2 focusing turrets, one top and bottom, can fire on vulnerable ships to quickly destroy them.
-12 massive turrets each with 2 guns play a pivotal role in laying down spread fire on distant or closing ships, this ensures a much higher hit probability against evasion maneuvering.
-Numerous point defenses guard against small ships and fighters, some medium sized defense weapons can also join in the spread fire patterns against targets.
-Due to it's massive size, it is unable to make effective evasive maneuvers against enemy fire except in very long range engagement from glancing shots. Thanks to the Elemental program however, along with basic energy weapon shielding, this ship also uses forcive shields to deflect projectile weapons when possible. It's onboard ground forces will often include a number of Elementals which can join in on defensive actions.
-For all it's abilities as a warship, such a large investment in a single ship would lead it to be a prime target in war, so it largely spends it's time in friendly territory making use of it's command and combat staging power.

Another commission for :iconmihoshik: *MihoshiK over at the SpaceBattles forum. This time a space combat scene from the Perry Rhodan universe.

Firstly, InB4 "dat borg ships" :noes: Cube and sphere ships are very common in retro and even some modern art. Make all the fun you want, but you can't argue that spheres and cubes are probably the most efficient shapes you can use for varying reasons.

There is one error in my scene though as I was only enlightened about this tactic after I was far into the process. I have the cubes flying face forward, but they are meant to fly corner forward. With decent firing arcs on the ships innumerable weapons (something like 100 emplacements per face) it can fire 50% of all it's weaponry at a single target at any time, not just 16%. That said even one face is going to give you a bad day.

The ships make heavy use of hyperspace technology. Their shield are blankets of hyperspace, sending incoming fire to another dimension in a crack of lightning, making small openings for their own fire.
There is also heavy use of hyperspace weapons to teleport nuclear weapons onto the enemy. The "airbursts" are similar enemy nukes.
Then there's the hyperspace shunt field weapon, which projects a spherical rift onto an enemy ship, sending that portion into hyperspace.
Of course you also have to deal with the standard fare of disintegrators, plasma beams, shockwave cannons, you know, the usual :D

Here is a treat, this is the E.D.G.E Primary Command Centre located in the mega city CORE. It's where E.D.G.E keeps track of all it's assets on Earth and in orbit.
This is part of a single page spread right out of the first issue of Telikos Protocol.

This one took me the better part of a day :ahoy:

We still need your support on this project to make it a reality in print form, head over the the Kickstarter and support us and bag yourself some cool rewards, or spread the word!!! [link]

Head over to the Facebook page for constant updates as well as a special Step-by-Step montage of how this image came together: [link]

An early concept illustration for Telikos Protocol, a graphic novel project. The image showcases a large alien machine storming into a high value military base, as it lays waste to the surrounding equipment soldiers try to hold it off whilst personnel are evacuated.

A giant glowing orb hovers silently at the core of an alien Dyson sphere, at each of it's poles an array of massive spires seemingly hold the orb in place. What is the orb for and why was an artificial planet built around it? Or was it created there.
The artificial planet holds many mysteries, I wonder where that sun light is coming from, lets go find out.

Inspired by Halo 4 and my own series Telikos Protocol, I have always loved monolithic structures that seemingly go on forever and their simple geometric shape only adds to their scale. I will be doing some more paintings based on this "planet" one being how that sun is generated. Should be interesting.

Enjoy :ahoy:
