At around 1109 hours today over at Cape Landers, Captain Bartlett's training exercise for the day fell into total chaos.
Not because some trainee decided to pull off some stupid stunt, but because we were attacked by unknown planes from someplace.
The ensuing battle ended with eight of our own people dead: six of my fellow trainees, and two instructors; one who died upon crash landing, and the other killed in action up high in the clouds.
So yeah, Captain Bartlett and his backseater at that time, the journalist Albert Genette, as well as one trainee, 2nd Lt. Kei Nagase, were the only survivors of this little "undeclared war".
All because our commanders somehow bungled this one up.
Right now, with only me, Nagase, Davenport (and the rest of us here on the ground a while ago), I gotta wonder who's gonna be flying alongside the Captain tomorrow...
