Into the Belly of the Beast
Somewhere in the sky high above the Sinnoh Region, a heavyset orange dragon Pokemon streaked through the blueness. On the back of this Dragonite, a human with spiky black hair, an orange jacket and set of goggles sat quite comfortably, despite the Pokemon's high rate of travel. Quite suddenly, a ringing sounded in the human's ear. "Pull it back to a slow glide, Taelayna." he said, patting the creature's muscular neck. The Pokemon nodded and obeyed. The Trainer reached up to his ear and pressed a button on his small headset. "Hey, Eric! It's been a while. How have things been with you lately?"
"I wish I could say that things have been going well, Jake..." came the less than cheerful, slightly staticky reply.
"Uh-oh, that doesn't sound too good. What's up?"
"It seems like Cyrus is up to his old

The forest sat underneath a heavy, quieting layer of dense fog. This thick blanket limited all visibility to mere inches. Despite this zero visibility, a yellow body shot through the mist, narrowly avoiding high-speed collisions with the numerous trees. As the figure shot toward a wall of mist between two trees a single amethyst eye appeared, burning through the mist.
No! The yellow Pokemon ground to a halt. How is he able to keep up with me?
Not bothering to wait for an answer, the fleeing Pokemon spun in place and put on an impressive burst of speed. "There! Let's see him keep up with me now!" the Pokemon jeered, looking back over its shoulder. This proved to be a huge mistake, as the paw of the rapidly moving Pokemon met with a gnarled root, sending it sprawling into the dirt.

Dawn of the Heavens
Since the bright glow of the blue moon had receded, the light levels in the forest had too, leaving any Pokemon under any sort of tree in near total darkness. In this darkness, a Pokemon's quick, heavy breathing could be heard. "Did...they succeed...in bringing...Sapphire back...?"
The Pokemon being spoken to looked over toward the happy reunion taking place a short distance away. "Yes, Luna... I think they did." Needlefur answered. "But, I don't think that Gemini returned with the two of them... I-I'm...sorry..."
"No...Needlefur... It's...quite all right... Gemini..." The pregnant Luna paused to take a series of fast, labored breaths. "Gemini...never intended to come...back."
Wha...? Needlefur still had questions, but she held her tongue for the time being. The Umbreon's breathing was becoming

Rustfur's cry seared through Fireheart and Leafpool. Breaking into a run, they raced down the path Rustfur and Sapphire had followed. Leafpool froze when she saw the golden Flareon. It-it couldn't be true. Leafpool stood, awestruck, until Sapphire's pained cry rang in her ears. At that point, Leafpool's protective motherly instinct took over. "Let her up, or you'll seriously regret it!" she called out, striding towards the gold Flareon.
The Flareon looked up at the familiar voice. In that instant when the pressure on her was lessened, Sapphire wriggled out from under the Flareon's strong paw and ran to join Rustfur, behind Fireheart. Cheated of its quarry, the golden Flareon bolted after Sapphire. Leafpool lunged, hitting the Flareon in its side, knocking it over. Expertly, it rolled with her attack, using her momentum to its advantage. In a flash, the Flareon had Leafpool pinned on her back. Shock hit her like a thunderclap
Ch 29: I Trusted You... When Rustfur woke up, the trees were still under the blanket of night. The only illumination was a low blue glow. The dim light pervaded the forest with an eerie atmosphere. Rustfur was looking around, waiting for his eyes to adjust, when a piercing scream shattered the silence. He almost jumped out of his fur before realizing what it was. "Sapphire!" Wildly, he spun around, frantically looking for the blue-eyed Leafeon. Again he called into the dark forest. "Sapphire!"Ch 29: I Trusted You... in Fan Fiction More Like This
The only reply was another scream. This time Rustfur knew for sure it was Sapphire. It tore right through his heart. He still was unable to see or scent Sapphire. Of course, he could hear her, but the pain-filled cries weren't coming from any specific direction. "Sapphire! Where are you!?"
This time he didn't wait for an answer and tore into the forest. Another cry rang out, this time louder. Rustfur guessed he was getting closer. As he slid around a tree, the blue g

"I would have told you sooner, but..."
"But what?" Rustfur inquired.
"I was afraid..." Leafpool swallowed visibly and upon continuing her voice was noticeably shaky. "I was afraid of what you'd think of me after I told you." Here she turned away again and her breath started to come in short, ragged bursts. Shortly after, she felt a warm body press against her side. She looked to her right and saw her mate, Fireheart, smiling warmly back at her.
"Leafpool, don't worry about it. You can't help who you are. Remember, both of my parents were orphans, and I don't think any less of them for that."
Leafpool felt a small body brush against her forelegs. She looked down and saw Rustfur sitting at her feet.

A Misty and Dark Beginning
The forest was swathed in a thick mist, as the sun had not yet risen high enough to burn the damp blanket away. As a result, the usual sounds of the forest were quieted.
The muffling fog didn't bother the lean, four-legged figure as it padded silently through the trees, ignoring the dew forming on its short, lavender coat. The red gem on the creature's forehead glistened wetly as it pushed through the mist, now and then pausing to sniff the air.
Failing to locate anything on the thick, still air, the creature continued on its way. The figure was half lost in its thoughts as it went on searching.
I can't believe it's already been over a year since we met... It certainly doesn't seem like it's been that long. It seems like it was only yesterday...

"Oh, my aching..."
Looking down, Rustfur blinked several times. He and Sapphire had come to rest in a heap, he being on top. Their eyes met for a brief moment; then, realizing who he was on top of, he leapt backwards.
"I-I'm sorry..." he stammered, blushing madly underneath his fur.
Sapphire scrambled up from her awkward position.
"It's okay." she replied quietly, suddenly self-conscious of her mussed and dirty fur.
"Where did you learn to fight like that?" Rustfur asked shyly.
"I taught myself." she answered, nervously cleaning her tail.
"You have to teach yourself a lot of things when you're an orphan." she whispered, sounding as if she was about to start crying.

Ch 4: A Family Reunited When they reached the pond, Rustfur soaked a ball of moss he had found with water, while Ravenpaw and Swiftclaw drank their fill. After they satiated their thirst they turned and began to walk back towards the area where Leafpool was. Before they got very far, they spotted three figures leaping over the fence. After Fireheart identified the small silhouette scampering towards him as Rustfur, he put down the small leaf full of berries he was carrying and called out,
"Hey, buddy. What's up?"
Rustfur slowed to a walk as he neared his father. He dropped the mouthful of damp moss he was carrying so he could answer.
"Dad, guess what?" he exclaimed, his voice shrill with excitement.
The smile on Fireheart's face faded when h
