Chapter 6: The Mission
“A secret mission?” you asked, taking the scroll Asahi had extended to you. You unraveled it and read the contents, eyes narrowing. “What’s the meaning of this?”
He folded his arms. “Just as it says; we have to transport a highly dangerous weapon to the Hidden Leaf without alerting the Akatsuki.”
“What is it?”
“What’s it do?”
“Who knows about it?”

Chapter 1: The Beginning: Art
"What is that supposed to be?"
You looked up. Two boys were bent over a clay figurine of… some kind of creature… and behind it sat a proud Deidara. He folded his arms and puffed out his chest.
"Art. Hm," he replied.
"What the heck? That's not art!"
A sigh escaped your lips. Shouta and Takumi were at it again – torturing poor Deidara. He always ended up the brunt of their jokes

Chapter 3: The Beginning: Extra Beef, Please
Dirt flew into the air as Kakeru slid down the alley, Deidara running in tow. Kakeru hopped to his feet and made to grab something from his ankle only to have Deidara pick him up by his collar and slam his back against the wall. The blond stuffed his hand into his pocket and pulled out a clay bird which he to stuff into Kakeru’s face.
“If you ever touch her again,” he growled. “I will not hesitate to blow your head off. Hm.”
You blinked. He was threatening Kakeru

Chapter 7: Kidnapped
“Kunai, shuriken, wire, paper bombs, smoke bombs, sleeping gas…” you ticked off your list with your fingers, eyeing the small bags that held everything as you did. “That’s everything.”
You attached them to your belt, looping them tightly, and then tied your headband around your head.
It was nearly light out. You would have to meet up with the rest of the mission’s team and set out with the scouts. There was no time to waste and you were chockfull of energy. You had finally gained a good night’s rest. No fevers plagued your dreams or woke you with cold sweat; no coughs disturbed you; no achy bones throbbed until you woke. You would be in excellent health for the day.
The thought made you smile. Asahi had held you back for so long, but now you would show how much you benefited from your hard training.
You opened the door. It was foggy out, the sky dusted with orange and pink as dawn began to break.

Chapter 13: The Truth
You watched as Deidara worked tiredly on his clay bird.
The moon was the only light for him to work by, and even with the pale glow lighting the darkened earth, he continued to lose concentration and his art would come out as a mushed mess. Sasori was seated beside you, clad in his usual hunched form, and also watched as his partner struggled.
You felt guilty for causing him to worry so much and for forcing the two of them to have to travel by night when they needed sleep. Deidara had muttered that it couldn’t be helped and Sasori had just shrugged, but you could see the exhaustion in their eyes.
Why was everything always your fault?
“You know, he really does care about you.” Sasori’s throaty voice reached your ears, quiet and undertone so Deidara –who was busy swearing like a sailor – couldn’t hear.
You drew in a breath, both relieved and bothered by this statement.

“I was given orders to ask you for the whereabouts of a man,” he replied, his posture erect and mask stiff against his face.
“We have orders to arrest him and all those who assist him.”
“What are you talking about?” you demanded. “What’s going on?”
“Tell me where Deidara is.”

Hey, Happy Valentine's Day
He had it coming.
Yep, he could admit it to himself.
He had it coming.
Suigetsu laughed manically, tearing around a corner and down an empty hall. He had just done the unthinkable –
It had been a carefully thought-out plan (not really) in which he had taken an empty box of chocolates and with some tedious work filled it with small water bombs. Of course, he had to add to the affect with a sweet, handwritten note stuck to the top of the box that went a little something like this:
I wanted to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day. I am sorry for picking on you all the time and acting obnoxious. I hope you will reconsider your hatred for me and be my Valentine.
To top it all off, he had tied it together with a decorative ribbon and left it sitting at the foot of your neatly made bed, innocently waiting for you to pop it open with delight. And you had. He listened outside of your door as you murmur

“Ouch!” You shoved Deidara's hand away and turned your head so he couldn't reach the cut on your cheek. “That hurts!”
Deidara sighed and folded his arms, fed up with your constant complaints and fighting. “Well of course it does, idiot! You're totally beat up! Un!”
You squeezed your lips together and mumbled, “I don't need you to tell me that.”
He passed a hand over his face and stood up. “This childish behavior is ridiculous...” he said. You made to retort but he brushed his hands together and began to pack your medical things away. “Well, it doesn't really matter – seems I'm done here.” He looked at you over his shoulder. “Your throat is badly bruised but will heal in time, and the cut on your face isn't too deep, although it will probably leave a scar.”
You shrugged in indifference. “I don't mind scars.”

Clack, clack, clack.
The clocked echoed noisily through the small room which held but a single person; he was hunched over broodily, shadowed in a corner, and his fingers were laced tightly together. His face was set pensive and cold as he gazed with unseeing eyes at the wall, and when a familiar girl walked in, he continued his stuporous state with very little heed to her.
She seated herself beside him and said nothing, even as seconds ticked away and minutes passed sleepily by, the room remained dark and the air untouched. The atmosphere was thick with his musings, and she moved very little under the pressure it put on her shoulders. She kept her eyes cast to the ground with a modest silence, waiting for his thoughts to break.
Clack, clack, clack.
The clocked continued its earth-shattering ticking, and the two remained impassive to its noise despite the deep, reverberating tone that carried into their ears with e

You dropped your head onto the clay and exhaled. “I see.” After a moment of silence you sat back up and asked: “Never?”
He shot you a patronized look. “'Never' what?”
“You never think about any of us?” You elaborated, unconsciously picking at your ripped shirt.
“Didn't I just say no?”
“You said: 'Past times are behind me'.”
“Was that not straightforward enough?”
You huffed. “Obviously not.”
He turned away and folded his arms, blond hair flowing behind him. Streaks of orange and pink painted the sky as the sun began to settle and you vaguely wondered if you were anywhere close to your destination. Deidara had not explained where he was taking you, and despite the famil

You bristle at the sight of the four ends of a rifle being pointed at you, glaring at the cool-headed male in the center. With a wave of his hand, the soldiers lower their weapons, although one wrong move would have you shot in a second.
“At ease. I won’t hurt you.”
You snort, your eyes making a quick sweep over his small band of soldiers. “Could have fooled me.”
You see the corner of his mouth twitch, but that only makes your anger for him burn even more. After what he pulled back there…there was no chance in hell you were going to ever forgive him.
“Leave us,” he commands. The four men do as told, no questions asked. Still, you know they won’t be far off, in case anything happens.
Erwin approaches you, stopping within an arm-length’s difference.

Like Isabel, he’s gazing out the window, but where she’s looking in awe, he’s regarding the streets in silent distaste and possible discomfort. Guilt slaps you in the face when you realize it’s all your fault. Had you not acted on impulse, you could have saved them and avoided capture. You bite your lower lip, drawing a prick of blood.
“Don’t be,” Farlan reassures from his seat across you. “It’s not your fault, [First]. We would have been captured anyway, and if you hadn’t come running along, we would have been separated. It’s better to be together, don’t you think?”

You let out a huff of annoyance, and your eyes shoot open. Isabel is resting peacefully beside you, and Farlan has his back turned to her. The steady rise and fall of his shoulders tells you that he’s sleeping as well.
If only I could sleep insouciantly like them. You muse to yourself, turning so that you are facing away from them. You expect to see Levi’s back, but you are met with nothing but the rumpled sheets where he once slept. Gingerly, you roll onto your stomach and scan the area for any signs of the dark-haired male. He’s nowhere in sight, so, as carefully and as quietly as you can, you leave the safety of the blankets and trail outside.

Several days had passed since you met Levi, Isabel, and Farlan. You’d gradually warmed up to them, and were now on a more comfortable speaking term with Isabel and Farlan. Levi was another story. It seemed that the closer you got to the group, the more he pushed you away. Isabel tried to convince you that that was ‘just Levi,’ so you left the issue alone. The two of you only spoke when it was absolutely necessary, and those times were few. That was good, or so you tried to convince yourself.
Your wound no longer bothered you as much as before, and you could now walk without a limp. Currently, you were soaring above the capital of the Underground with Isabel at your side as she mentored you in your training with the 3DMG.
“Now this is the tricky part, so follow me carefully,” she explains, retracting the wire from where it was attached to a building. She takes out her handgrips, pointing it at a perpendicular wall, and you copy her. She squeezes the trigger

“What brought this on?” you wonder aloud, swapping the towel for your shirt. She shrugs.
“Well, you kinda looked disappointed when he tossed the apple back. I know it seemed like he was rejecting you and all, but that’s just his way of putting others’ well-being before his. He’s always been like that, or at least, he’s always been like that to the ones he cares about.”

You slowly retreat, your gaze steady as you watch the Titan approach. Its eyes are fixated on you, and the wide grin plastered on its face does more than just creep the hell out of you. Your eyes flicker to the crushed gas tank underneath its foot, and you smile bitterly. Your body tells you to just make a run for it, but your muscles are protesting from exerting too much pressure from the past couple of hours.
Not only did your gear run out of gas, but all of your blades were broken too. To top it off, you were exhausted and wounded. Fighting and running had taken its toll, and now that you were restricted to land movement, unarmed, you were basically done in.
Not a good scenario when you were in Titan territory. The place was crawling with them, and even if you did bolt, you were bound to find another.

Suddenly feeling nervous, you look towards the ceiling. Wait, does he plan on removing the bullet now? You flinch when Levi turns your leg over, fingers skimming the surface for the wound. You’ve lived with this for as long as you could remember. You knew this district was dying, and the people who were a part of it were no exception. With each passing year, less people loitered the streets. They either died of starvation, or were captured by the Military Police. Such was the fate of those who lived in the Underground.
While you’re lost in your thoughts, you notice Farlan subtly inching closer to you. Your first instinct is to increase the distance between the two of you, but that proves too difficult when you’re sandwiched between hi

As a girl that transferred to a Swimming School in Australia that was actually for boys, I had quite a big secret. My gender. No one was aware of me being a girl. My chest was quite flat anyway and I used bandages to make it disappear completely. I always wore a full body swimsuit, telling the others I'd get sick really easily. They all believed me since I was really thin and pale. I've always looked rather weak and no matter how long I stayed in the sun my skin would stay as pale as before. Back to the important stuff though. Keeping that secret was really hard. I had to shower after or before everyone else.
