Concept of sci-fi rifle "Kodo". Primary object was to design sci-fi gun with smooth/dynamic look without disturbing point and from exotic casted material. Model is highpoly. Here's a concept for a modified bullpup auto sniper rifle. Though thats a mouthful, it explains the different style design. I imagine that most of the gun is housed in a plastic case with a polished metal skin. Purely for aesthetics.
Mod Rifle, something that can easily be modded. I imagin most of it can be taken apart and interchanged with modular parts for easy variety. Granted this is mostly just for me to practice drawing weapons, i still put some thought into it. CS3 + Wacom
UPDATE: Due to popular criticism, I'm going to go ahead and say, despite what the gun says on its shell, it is a prototype that uses .223, and is the base prototype that could you can exchange the barrel/firing mechanisms be able to switch the type of ammo. Any further question of the Sci Fi /cool design excuse can be referred to Judge Dredd's weapon. It has all kinds of ammo types. I should really just rename the gun "the Controversy". I really do appreciate all the feedback though! Thanks!
Dual functioning long and short ammo weapon. Designed for one weapon to carry both ammo types for long and short range combat. Also using only 1 barrel they can both feed into. Using a magical mechanism for the forward rounds that seals the barrel up when not in use. It's sci fi, deal with it.

This piece has been a huge time eater for what it is, but the result is just what I need. Further evolution of the rifle many of my Rangers carry to battle.
The rifle is in bullpup layout. Parts are modular and interchangeable, allowing for varying calibers and barrel lengths while cutting supply costs and logistics. Full ambidextrous controls and forward case ejection are standard features. This particular setup has a 14.5in barrel and a caliber comparably sized to but more advanced than 338 lapua.

I made a few changes from the original rotation drawing. The mag has been shortened and a thin recoil suppressor has been added. A few changes were made to the scope and muzzle. The colors were inspired by the space shuttle, since this gun was meant for 0G operations.
My first original gun in quite a while! Feels good to design them again. This weapon is an assault rifle meant to fit in with a near-future american setting. If you want to know more, you'll have to play the game when it's out. I do a lot of research before I design a gun, and this one is no exception. I not only have many books about them in my studio, I also have a few actual rifles and pistols to use for reference. Photos are good, but having a physical analogue is much better. This design employs some conventional and some modern/futuristic tech. The internal components are made from a light-weight, vibration and heat resistant metal alloy. The outer body is made from condensed high-durability plastics. Most of the gun's attachments are fully modular and customizable. This load out features a retractable stock, a translucent 30-round ammo clip. (remember the bullets in a clip go up and around so there are actually two layers of rounds in a clip). The trigger for the co2 powered grenade launcher was an idea I came up with. Instead of the soldier having to move his whole hand, with this layout, he/she only has to rotate the firing finger down slightly and pull up. The top rail system can mount a variety of sights and scopes, currently it is fitted with a rear peep sight and a front optical sight. The lens is a special glare resistant glass with a thin liquid crystal overlay that can be set to a few helpful settings, such as a range finder. Barrel can be fitted with a suppressor, and the grenade launcher can be swapped for a fore-grip or a 12ga. shot gun.

The M328 SMGL is a 28mm, stacked - munitions grenade launcher made to fit over an unmodified M12 weapon without the use of any tools or other equipment. This allows the operator to quickly remove the M328 in the field and have a fully functioning M12, if the situation calls for such action.
The M1028 Optic has a line-up indirect fire reticle that, when activated, operates in sync with a laser range-finder to provide the operator with extreme accuracy and lethality, especially when programmable airburst rounds are used. The optic also has Night Vision and Thermal Vision capabilities and the most utilized controls are on the weapon just above the fire-selector of the M12 host as well as on the optic itself.
There are only two main types of ammunition because I plan on making a multi-purpose weapon that can be used independently or slung under an M12 for breaching, shot, smoke, less-than-lethal, or other types of rounds that would not be practical with a metal storm-style weapon system.

The M288 EIGL-SMC is the standard underbarrel grenade launcher for the M7 system. It uses electronic ingnition and is capable of firing stacked munitions. The barrel tilts down instead of sliding foreward, allowing for a much larger variety of munitions to be used. (I've thought up about 4 or 5 more types of ammunitions that I'm too lazy to design right now).
The holographic reflex sight on top of the M986 CICOG can be selected to indirect-fire line-up dots that work in a similar fashion to the range-finding targeter on the FN F2000 with computerized optic and GL. The IDRT is a laser rangefinder and reflex optic that mounts on the side of the weapon and provides a similar line-up dot system but still allows for the use of a variety of primary optics. The settings can be reversed and the IDRT mounted on the right side of the weapon for left-handed shooters.
