Sam threw some more water into his face, letting it run through his fur and splash back into the sink. It had been difficult sending the message to his parents and siblings back home, and he wasn't sure how any of them would take it. He was certain his eldest brother would be furious with him but he'd done it quickly and jammed the 'send' command before he could think twice about it. For good or ill it was out of his hands now. He dipped his hands back into the stream and letting them fill again when the deck suddenly lurched beneath his feet and he flailed about trying to regain his balance; spraying water all through the latrine. Getting his feet under him again he looked around, "What the hell?"
The ship shuddered again and he heard a dull, throbbing 'whumping' coming up from below decks. The sound dissipated as the ship stilled again and Sam scrambled for th

The remaining days flew by and before he was really ready their leave was up and it was time to go. They swung by the Espatier barracks on their way to drop Roja off so she could rejoin the rest of her troop. The two of them sat in the car for a while, just looking into one another's eyes.
"Sam, it was a real treat getting to stay with you guys. Thank you for the great time… *sigh* but it looks like I've got to go now… so… well, goodbye I guess."
She got out of the car and started to walk away, bags in hand. Sam hesitated only a second before he leapt from the car, "Roja, wait!"
She stopped in her tracks and instantly spun around, eyes twinkling and a smile on her face. Sam ran up to her, quickly activating his wireless and passed his contact information on to her.
"Roja, the Manhattan is going to be operating around Mars for the next few years. Maybe… we could find a minute to get

‘The day had started off so nicely’, she thought to herself as she helped Mark toward the car. He staggered again and she grabbed him to keep him from falling. Putting his arm around her neck she quietly said, “Here, just hang onto me, okay?”
He nodded, his face was bloody and he was sure to get a black eye. She quickly glanced up toward the group of pups being herded away by the club’s bouncers. She was ever so glad he’d managed to knock one of them completely out, giving them more than enough problems of their own to bother harassing them any longer.
Exhaling loudly, she shook her head and opened the door for him. He fell roughly into the seat and had to grab onto the door-frame to keep from falling out of the car entirely. She knelt down and gently tried wiping some of the blood from his face. She frowned and slowly shook her head to herself again, ‘today sta

When she woke again she felt completely fine. The water and a good sleep must’ve been all she needed. Sitting up, she slipped out of her dirty clothing and pulled a loose sleeping shirt on instead. She thought about showering but for some reason she didn’t feel dirty any longer and besides, she had a burning thought playing in her mind.
Striding from her room, she found him lying flat on his back still asleep on the couch. She gingerly sat down on the couch next to him, being careful not to wake him. She sat there looking at him and wondering. Had they… done anything last night? But then why was he on her couch and not with her? But if they hadn’t, why was he practically naked?
Her curiosity remained though. What would it feel like, his hairless skin next to hers? She reached out slowly, burning to satisfy her curiosity, but she could not quite bring herself to do it. She sat there, hand outstretched, slowly letting it descend…

Her head ached as she regained consciousness. The pain was the most intense she’d ever experienced in her life, her nose was blocked solidly and her throat burned. She opened her eyes to a dark room and had a flight of panic not knowing where she was until she recognized her own bed. But she had no idea how she had gotten there.
Sitting up, she held her head in her hands and tried to take stock of her situation. She was in her apartment, in her own bed. She was still wearing her uniform shirt and underwear, but her jacket, slacks, and shoes were all missing.
…and she smelled terrible.
Her mouth was so dry it felt like it was on fire. She was very obviously dehydrated and needed water so she forced herself to her feet. But as soon as she tried to take a step the room canted slightly under her causing her to stumble. Her stomach lurched and she put a hand out onto the wall

The interior of the building was a disorienting display of objects and activity; she couldn’t even begin to guess which were devices and which were merely decoration. The murmur of the crowd felt deafening in her ears despite being dully quiet. Thankfully she’d only garnered a few glances as they walked in; the crowd around her a bizarre mix of species, race, gender, and apparel.
Mark spoke quietly with a man by the door who nodded and pointed the way towards a booth off to one side of a large open bar. Following Mark through the crowd they took a seat on either end of a small table and a display popped up out of the table. Swallowing her anxiety, she put on the best show of bravado she could muster and punched the first menu that caught her eye on the display. As she ran a finger down the list she asked, “Do you think there might be something in here that I’d like?”

Sam woke slowly, dimly aware of the muffled chirping of his wireless' alarm from under the bunk. It continued sounding for a short while before finally resetting itself to go off in another ten minutes. He didn't care, right at that moment he didn't care about anything else except for the person that was still wrapped in his arms. He pulled her into his chest and she made a small noise of approval before nestling farther into his embrace.
Sam felt her starting to stir; she looked up at him with sleepy, contented eyes for a moment before bolting awake. She sat there a moment with her hand over her mouth before quietly hissing, "Oh shit! I didn't mean to fall asleep! I probably shouldn't be down here should I?"
Sam quietly laughed at her as she fumbled in the dark trying to gather her clothing together, "Probably not."
She threw his shirt at him, "Shut up and help me! I can't find my bra, wh

He was dimly aware of her pulling her face away from his. She roughly rolled him onto his side and struck him several times between the shoulder blades, all the while desperately repeating the same plea over and over, "Come on baby, breathe, you've got to breathe, please come on "
His whole body convulsed and a jet of water shot from his mouth. Trying to inhale he sucked more water back into his throat and started coughing instead. He lay there alternately gasping for breath and coughing violently until he finally lay there panting in her arms. She was shaking and her voice trembled, "Sanj! Are you okay?! Please tell me you're okay!"
He couldn't talk for lack of breath, so he nodded his head instead. What had happened? He was on the boat, Bom was pulling it to safety with the bowline and she shouted someth
