Talon woke up to the sun streaming into his home, he had woken up that morning found something to eat and drink then returned to the cave to sleep, he did so to make sure he had enough energy for tonight. Jumping too his feet he moved to the entrance of his cave, the desert outside it baked in the late afternoon sun. it was a good vantage point, from here he could see the miles of untouched sand with the occasional rock to break it up, he could also see a couple of human settlements dotted here and there, they were little more than villages and small towns. He wasnt favourable with the humans at the moment, he didnt want it to be that way but they had forced him into it. Talons home was in a large mountain range in the desert, the cave wasnt very deep, but it was more than enough for Talon. It was deep enough to shelter him from even the worst of sandstorms, and for him to curl up warm during the cold desert nights. He spread his wings out wide, enjoyin

Talon growled with pain as he landed, the spear tip was still in his foot and it was still giving him problems. It had been three weeks since he had gotten it in there, and he had hated every second of it. His other injuries werent healing as well as he would have liked either, the long distances travelling and sometimes not enough to eat were all taking their toll on Talons healing. He needed to stop and rest, not just for a day, but for a couple of weeks. He knew that he would soon to be forced to, the icy tendrils of winter were just starting to arrive. Ideally he needed a place to stay, but at the very least he would not be flying, it would be easier that way. He picked at the spear tip, his efforts being rewarded with a stab of pain, Talon growled again. He couldnt get that out by himself, he would need someone to help him. He looked around himself, the plains had steadily given way to forest again, and Talon hadnt seen another dragon in the three

This was supposed to be a simple job, they were supposed to kill the dragons and just go. They had been here for over an hour now, Yashvir had brought the wagon up with the heavy equipment in it and they had chained the dragons up, it was very thick chain. Wyman made sure they were completely immobilized, after the struggle they had before he didnt want to go through it again. They had lost four men to the female and Kaiden was in a bad way. Adelle was cleaning the gash in his stomach and trying to get him to drink water. Wyman was wondering how they would react when they woke up, it was no longer a case of if but when. They would have had their heads and been gone if it wasnt for something in this particular dragons hoard; Yashvir was working on it now, he said that it held more information on dragon kind than that book of his could ever hold. He could barely understand how to use the thing let alone break the code required to gain access to the knowledge wi

The sun crept up over the horizon slowly; Talon first became aware of it the sun glared in his eyes as a rude awakening. He brought his wing forward to block out the source of irritation but it was too late, he was awake. He stretched himself out, after the celebrations the night before they hadnt gone back to Firewings cave; instead they had slept in the village. The night had been pleasant, but it hadnt stopped the dew settling on Talons scales. He groaned slightly as he stretched, the joints giving off a pleasant crackle as he did so. Firewing was still asleep, curled up a fair distance away, her breath from her nostrils gently misting in the cool morning air. Some of the villagers were already up and about, starting the daily duties. Some fishermen pushed a boat out onto the lake, and some women were chatting amongst themselves as they were taking some clothes to be washed. He stood up slowly, not wishing to disturb anyone he didnt have to. The soup

Talon felt constrained, wherever he moved he was being held perfectly in the same position, he slowly opened his eyes to the thick pink liquid that surrounded him with warmth. His knees were pressed up against his chest and his tail curled up towards nose, his opened and closed his tiny claws and shut his eyes once again content with where he currently was. He could hear murmuring and noises outside the shell which held him in place, but he did not care much about them for he was far too comfortable for that but they made him feel safe and secure where he was surrounded with warmth with no worries at all, he could happily sit here for as long as possible. Then suddenly the murmurs around him got louder.
Talon the voice sounded strangely familiar.
Taaaalon the warmth had disappeared and Talon no longer felt secure.
Talon opened his eyes just a crack, attempting to shake of the drowsiness that still hung about his head.

Talon flew low over the forest, searching for a place to sleep for the night. He had been on the wing now for a couple of weeks now, but he was not heading for home, the sun was very low in the sky, the night was creeping in, it would be easier for him if he found a place before it got really dark. He remembered with joy of the town that had accepted him in the previous night, the food, the music and the dancing. It seemed a distant memory now, why couldnt the humans where he lived be more like them? That town felt the need to celebrate that a dragon had arrived on its humble doorstep and threw a party in Talons honour, Talon was confused about it the whole way through, why was he deserving of a party? But he had enjoyed himself and had promised that he would return, he wondered what they would think of him if they knew what he was really like. He had seen one or two dragons on his travels, but only at a distance, he hadnt talked to another of his kind in a w

Talon awoke suddenly, he hadnt meant to fall asleep but he had closed his eyes for just a moment. He wanted to keep watch all night through in case Wyman returned, and to make sure his parents would be alright. The dream still swirled around his head, reminding him of memories from a time that he would rather leave forgotten. He stretched, his claws making a gentle scratching noise on the floor. His parents were still fast asleep, Messora was still alive and her breathing sounded more normal, and Anthor was still human and still tucked against her side, his head resting on her foreleg, evidently enjoying the comfort and warmth of his mate. The sun was streaming in from the entrance now, how long had he slept? Hunger clawed at his belly, he would have to fetch something to eat. He knew he would be doing this until his parents were well enough to do it themselves. His father would be up and flying in a couple of weeks anyway so he did not mind, he could spend more ti

Firewing looked over at the drowsing Talon; he had fallen asleep shortly after he curled up, the end of his tail twitched in his sleep. He always looked peaceful when slept; where the few things that worried him were forgotten. She was glad he had come to see her; they hadnt seen each other since they left their parents. He had changed a lot in that time, growing even stronger than when she had last seen him, he had matured in several ways, less so in personality but more physically, the spines on his back more prominent, and he had grown significantly in length and wingspan. But on the inside, he appeared to be the same carefree Talon that she remembered. She sighed as she looked at his bloodstained gills, torn and red raw. They were moving gently in tandem with his breathing. She felt so guilty about it, she should have realised who it was sooner, and it wasnt like her to go into a situation like that without knowing whats going on first. She had gone
Wymans fateWymans body was gripped in another violent coughing fit, each time he did so his once white sheets were became more stained with the deep red of his blood. He may have been in a hospital but it might as well have been a prison, guards stood at the entrance to the room and the only window was so thin it barely admitted any light. He was wondering what had gone wrong for him when he was overcome by another wave of coughing followed by some sneezing for good measure, he didnt feel right at all, his temperature was all over the place, his head wouldnt stop thumping and his throat felt like someone had dropped nails down it. Then there was the coughing and sneezing, Wyman thought that they were doing the most damage with their relentless attacks. He was wondering where it had all gone wrong after he left the cave.Wymans fate in Fantasy More Like This

Lightning flashed across the clouds as the rain fell from the night sky. The water cascaded from Talon's scales as the dragon flew low over the forest, he swooped down into a clearing back winging as he landed. The dragon walked on all fours over to a shallow pool and lowered his head to drink as he prepared for what he must do. He pondered about how he would go about this somehow impossible task set before him.
Talon took a moment to look at himself. He was a sandy brown in colour; he was not born with this as his scales reflected the colour of his home in the desert. He had two large horns on the back of his head as most dragons did but had a row of small spikes running down his spine. He was easily 25 feet long from snout to tail and built of slabs of muscle, but that was the advantage of being young. Being one hundred and twelve he'd only left his parents half a century ago to find a home of his own. A smile edged its way onto Talons face as he remembered the mixed e
