2nd work with wacom :D

Alright I always wanted to create buildings and structures. Rise up cityes and bring light to them. I guess tis was pretty close to what I wanted to make. I consider this a speed painting, scince its not finished at all, but I managed to give some exttra detail to the composition and lighting. The size is big enough to appreciate.

This image is about a hidden city as the title says. Even if you are on the biggest city in the world, you can always find small, "lost" places that speak by themselves, places that have their own stories andtraditions :)

Im now learning to use a more delicated and precise color palette, wich makes me feel so great :D

Anyway, hope you like my second attemp with a tablet guys :D

I really enjoyed working on this piece :)

Oh I almost forget about the specifications:

-Time: 3 hours
-Tools: A5 tablet
-Software: Photoshop Cs3
-Resolution: 1000 x 1146 ( original: 1800 x 2000 )
-Layers: 24

This is a city concept we are situated on the same town, but now somewhere near the main bridge. I must admit, there are some areas of this work that looks like speedpainting, but thats because im am still figuring out how to give that "finished look" to a painting.

The city has no photographic reference or perspective measurements. It just came out from my mind. So there should be some mimor issues with the distances. Though I think it turned out pretty well dont you think? :)

This took me so much time. much longer that I expected, like 12 hours at least. I still need to learn too many things.

Anyway, let me know what do you think :)

Hope you like it! :P

Just another quick mess around, always wanted to paint some huge ship with thousands of people boarding it, why are they leaving? Who knows, world is dying, war, holidays, or maybe there is an awesome sale in one of the huge mega malls on Mars.

Took around 40 minutes

The aftermath of a devastating alien attack against a huge city complex, in an act of desperation the inhabitants used weapons of mass destruction on their own city to deter the invading forces. The weapons did indeed repel the attack, the ships that weren't destroyed or to damaged left retreated, the huge alien ships that were caught in the resulting explosions smashed into the cities bellow, huge towering wrecks littered the cities, plumes of smoke and ash ran on for miles, most of the area was reduced to a fiery inferno. Those that survived were greeted only by hellish scenes and a hostile environment, they considered the ones who had died in the attack the lucky ones.

New image from the Luminarium exhibit [link] go take a look there are so many awesome images.

Nothing special just a quick 30 minutes speed painting messing with composition, lighting and some brushes. General concept is a series of giant portal arrays, 5 towers in each array which stretch miles high, and a little guy standing on top of a mountain. Wonder how he got there.

Tried myself on some concept arty stuff again today. Created me some brushes and started painting. Used a plate photo ~MyArms-YourHearse gave me a couple of years ago. Still useful buddy. Thanks once again.

It is rough and i actually have no clue what we're seeing here. Some futuristic city i guess. Liked the result. Posted it. =)

"Do you get that feeling too? That feeling of excitement when you know the next day will be great because you'll be off into the holidays with the family or something? Now this here is different. The last 10yrs i'm saving up for this special moment. To leave this place and start over somewhere else. This is the first step of my endeavour and i'm so excited!"

Yeah you could say i fell in love with the city i created in ‘Phoenix Rising‘. Since i have built me quite a nice plate in Vue i had to take another visit. And it could become more in the future. I’m sure you don’t mind as long as some stunning vistas like this one are the results of the excursions. Again i’m wondering why i’m into such megacities. I’m very interested in technology, where it took us in the past and where it may take us in the future. Maybe that’s a reason.

When i started this one i didn’t have a real plan. I was just playing with atmospheres and clouds in Vue and found a nice point of view on the city part we see farther in the back of my ‘Phoenix Rising‘ picture. I started to add more details to that area and moved objects around to find a good composition. Lots of smaller testrenders happening in that stage. When i had arranged everything to a point of satisfaction i started play with the lighting. I really wanted to make it look somewhat photoreal without to lose the usual tension and contrast that i usually get into my pics. I eventually became undecided between a more natural lighted sunset with the light source behind the camera and a real devilish/hellish red backlit situation with the sun shining directly into the cam.

I stuck to the backlit setup because of the tension it created in the scene. Nonetheless i had a problem with visible detail. Since it all was pretty much in shadow. But i wanted lots of details visible! What i did was rendering both lighting situations i had in mind. The one with the sun behind the camera captured all the little details i wanted visible. I took that render pass and layered it above the backlit version and started work both together. That’s a technique i use whenever i want more detail in certain shadowy areas. Of course you can also use the multipass possibilities of Vue to fix those. It all depends on what you want to achieve.

In the end i managed to get together a pretty decent result that can walk hand in hand with my ‘Phoenix Rising’ project. It shows another side of that megacity. A bit darker and dense… almost like you could swim through the atmosphere. Another view i would die for to see for real.

UPDATE 25.10.2010
Updated the pic with a more dramatic cloud setup. Should look better now. It's closer to the pic i had in mind now. Print is updated too.

Every once in a while, Hideyoshi puts a few more hours into his paintings.
Neglectfully, he paints away without proper planning and concept, hiding a boring base in eyecandy detail and colors.
Then he regrets that he did and submits it to DA anyway b̶̶e̶̶c̶̶a̶̶u̶̶s̶̶e̶̶ ̶̶h̶̶e̶̶ ̶̶t̶̶h̶̶i̶̶n̶̶k̶̶s̶̶ ̶̶h̶̶e̶'̶s̶̶ ̶̶c̶̶o̶̶o̶̶l̶̶.̶

the end.

*cough
no 3D base (except for the 3 main buildings), I was struggling with making the boring composition work. There are some scale issues and most of the building design is rather generic.

part 2 of the Unicorn franchise lol

Some practice foremost I guess, the composition is kinda chaotic. I think cropping this in the middle would result in a decent upper half painting ._.
That bloody unicorn on the left nearly killed my nerve, in the end I just googled a photo, pasted and overpainted. Fail much.

Shit, I forgot the rainbows and heart-shaped bubbles.

Looking for some inspiration today. How often it seems I leave this world in my mind when looking for a creative spark!

"An outpost near a large water fall - re-supplying a transport vessel"

This took me about 120-125 minutes or so – so there are some decent details here and there! :)
