Just a little something I made for the art group I belong to, The Luminarium, in light of our latest and greatest pack ever this image portrays our eventual rise to galactic domination, a future where we can quite happily go around and imprint planets with our giant logo using Ion Cannons for advertising purposes. Right delusions of grandeur aside, this took about 3 hours work, the planet, logo and background I already had lying around. The clouds circling the planet where originally hand painted then a texture was laid over them. The satellite/Ion Cannon was a photo which I painted over.

Thousands of years this race lived with the godly sight of a galactic core which iluminated one side of there world and even out shined their own sun. Living with this sight this galactic marvel became revered by this race who saw it as their god, they beleived it was there goal in life to reach it and become one with there god and be reunited with lost friends, family, and loved ones.
Thousands of years past, many things changed but their belief remained the same and one day their technology provided the means of getting them where they wanted to go. Finally their ships left their system and in stasis embarked on a journey that would take them millions of years to complete. But what will they find? What will be waiting for them once they reach thier god. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
ITS FINALLY HERE the new pack from The Luminarium group has been released after many a problem with hosts but its all good now. Sorry for the long story but I put a lot of thought into this piece and a lot of time and is probably my favorite out of my works to this date. So enjoy
Detail, tasty tasty details. Resolution: 7000x16000 DPI: 500 Layers: approx 150 Time: approx 60 hours Times changed: 4 Times I gave up: 2 Times I threatened my PC with a drop from the second floor out the window: 5
UPDATE: colour correction, brings out a bit more depth I think
My latest piece depicting a huge galaxy cluster with a very active galaxy collision as the focal point which shows a quasar in action. This was inspired by an article I read which mentioned that all galaxy clusters in a very large area including our local cluster are all being dragged into a certain part of space. Unfortunately due to the dark dust clouds within the milkyway we cant see whats causing this but they call it the Great Attraction. So this was my idea for what it could be, a massive galaxy with a very very big supermassive blackhole at its core.
Enjoy, there will be cropped detail pieces to follow soonish.
Details: Resolution: 16000x8000 DPI: 500 Layers: approx 100 after merging Times redone: 3 Times Photoshop crashed: 5
Better late (way late), than never. I am finally submitting this piece to my gallery, I think it deserves that much by now. I made this piece for the Luminarium exhibit Illuminate a while back. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure this was the last space art piece I made before I started doing mattepaints. I'm planning a return to the space art genre, it'll be in the mattepaint format (at least one piece will be), but it's something. But anyway, I got a few pieces lined up, all very cool. I hope to get them done something within the next 5 years, if possible, so keep a look out!
First submission piece for =theluminarium's new pack, The 5th Dimension. It's a great pack, we got so many new members and a lot of them were able to get something in for it, so it's very cool. Go check it out and enjoy the pic!
PS: Sorry for no wallpaper pack on this or my Infectious piece, the PSD's got currupted so I couldn't do it.
I started this back in early December of last year and was close to scrapping it at least 10 times. I'm glad I didn't because it didn't turn out to be too bad in the end and it was fun to do. I wasn't necessarily worried about the end product so much as I was worried about just making something entertaining to look at and work on. It was pretty good practice and helped me get loose again, and it was also a nice break away from the other stuff I'm working on.
The inspiration for this came from an older work of mine called The Chase which I think I did back in 2009. I wanted to create something of a similar feeling but with a lot more speed and motion. I know I always say this, but I want my stuff to look like it was taken directly from a still of a movie, hopefully that sense of movement is present here. If not let me know, it'll only help. And I hope this version is better than the 09 version, that means I might actually be learning something. Btw yes, that is the same planet and ring from Outpost; recycling at its best.
Thanks for having a look, more stuff when it's done. No promises.

----------------------------------------------------------- The Luminarium Exhibit Illuminate #2
Illuminate II is our 3rd freestyle exhibit where we let our artist roam free and stimulate them to put their wildest ideas out there. Something we really enjoy since anything goes! Illuminate II shows the diversity The Luminarium artists are capable of presenting. Never has there been so much music to enjoy in our exhibits and never has the style of art been so experimental and refreshing. We as administrators here at The Luminarium can proudly say that this exhibit is one of our biggest and best yet. Get inspired, stimulated and enjoy!
