Ah, it's been a long while, hasn't it I have a new cast for my right wrist which allows me to paint, so here is the next from the Sins
GLUTTONY is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Why didn't I draw anything disgusting? Well, I wanted to prove myself I can keep to the original "idea" of a glutton, WHILE making the character aesthetic, pretty and (in her way) attractive. I wanted to prove the modern "pretty=thin to the bone" standard wrong.
Some symbolic explanations:
Abundance of textiles - I treat this sin not only as eating and drinking, but consuming in it's wider meaning, such as buying and gathering useless things etc
Grapes - "luxury" goods, connected with lavish parties (in ancient times) etc
The pink colour theme - reminds me of grapes, sweets etc
I hope you like this one, as it was definitely the hardest one to balance and get "right".
So after 2 months of silence, I am giving you Lust
This is the third one of the serie, first ones are Vanity and Envy
"Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body."
As you can see, from my Lust sketch I have only kept the pose, but totally changed the face.
I think that this one fits the topic better. I see Lust as being concentrated on yourself, being "drowned in your own world" kind of way, rather than seducting and being "flirty"(and this look was used in the sketch)
About the symbolism:
The color - I am aware of the fact, that according to some sources Lust is connected with blue. To me though, blue just doesn't do it - It's too "cold", and therefore I picked(surprise) red - connection with the color of flame, warmth. No I am not connecting lust with love
The frame - uses the flame pattern... my thought-connections were: flame -> burning desire -> lust
The waterfall - something rapid, unpredictable, not controlable :]
The picture took me a long LONG time to finish, mainly because I have done 2 other versions which I was not satisfied with.
Done in Painter7 and Photoshop CS in an uncoutable number of hours XD
Hope you like it!
DISCLAIMER: As I am currently working on another project, I will take a break from the Seven Deadly Sins Serie, BUT I DEFINITELY AM planning on finishing it. The next one, coming probably in a few months will be SLOTH
PS. Just in case you're interested, I am now submitting Lust as a printout
"Self control and self mastery prevent pleasure from killing the soul by suffocation. Legitimate pleasures are controlled in the same way an athlete's muscles are: for maximum efficiency without damage. Lust is the self-destructive drive for pleasure out of proportion to its worth. Sex, power, or image can be used well, but they tend to go out of control."
This is the first part of a series I am working on. Portraying the seven deadly sins with angels (sarcastic huh?
100% Photoshop 7 Unfortunately I had to crop it down but here are two close ups of the actual size I was working in:
This time Spring.
Some throughts I had while painting this:
Spring has to fight her way out of the grasp of Winter before she can fully blossom.
Thus the webish cocoon thing at the bottom of her dress.
The dress itself is supposed to mimic a caterpillar at the bottom and the floating veils should sympolize the transformation into a butterfly (probably a bit too much symbolism and suger hmm?)..
I added the cloudy weather because April belongs to Spring and I really hate the moody character of that Month..you can have sun and the next time clouds coming in and rain for hours..
Some other things which are personal to me have been added as well but I am not going to bore you with that (the things that made me chose the color scheme above all).
I used a smiliar picture of myself for the arms and hands (didn't help much though - I shouldn't have chosen that pose to start with...) and all different kind of butterfly pictures and flowers (mainly of chinese cherry trees and Magnolias (spelling?))
No references for the clothing or anything else
In ancient times, Wax - Dragons have been known to humans as sources of great wisdom.
Some of their body parts consist of wax elementsand are very weak to physical attack. Thus those parts are covered with a transparent shell (specially the chest area - horns and parts of the head).
Due to their great weakness and the fact that they are not meant to fight but rather serve as sources of inspiration and advisors, they have been driven very close to extinction.
It takes a long time until a Dragon of this kind makes friendship with a human being. A symbiosis which is however essential for their survival.
They are creatures of snakelike, delicate appearance and feed only on plants. Their character is very tender and protectful which in terms makes them even more vulnurable and weak.
Once a Wax - Dragon has found a human companion it stays loyal until it's death.
That's the little background story I had in my head ever since I started painting this.
Photoshop CS2 from start till finish
I used some really out of focuse yellowish references of my hands for this (unfortunately I don't have nowhere near as slender and delicate hands like she does now and I don't have long nails at all >_<
Other then that - no references or material used for this.
First off, I think this one is my favorite of the Sins so far
Definition of Envy: A feeling of discontent and resentment aroused by and in conjunction with desire for the possessions or qualities of another.
I've been looking around - and I see a lot of people portray Envy as being Jealous and that the words can be interchangeable. But I was reading online and read that those are two different distinct emotions. You can read here about it: [link]
I decided to portray Envy as being sad, because when I think of Envy, I think of being unhappy. With Envy, you want what someone has, what ever it may be, and feeling that way will make you depressed about it. Ok, I'm done babbling xD Just wanting people to understand why I decided to have Envy sad, with a little mix of hatred too.
The "tears" are fake, I hope they look ok. I tried really hard with them, so please be kind
color of anger is red, anger is associated with bear
also know as Wrath and hate) — undecent feelings of hatred, revenge or even denial, as well as punitive desires outside of justice . In the Latin lists of the Seven Deadly Sins, wrath is referred to as ira.
punishment for the sin anger is dismembered alive
associated with the demon " Satan"
the virtue that stands on the other side of anger is kindness.
Kindness means taking the tender approach, with patience and compassion. Anger is often our first reaction to the problems of others. Impatience with the faults of others is related to this.
Next one is invidia also know as envy
brushes used moon
mystical filter , a lot of masks for the background

For Valentine’s Day, I made my wife chocolate-covered strawberries. They did not turn out as well as I had hoped (more like a hunk of lumpy chocolate with a strawberry in it than a nice choclolate coating), but they were certainly not a failure. She thought they were great.
This morning, I was thinking about those strawberries. They are a lot like true love. As I am only human, my love is far from perfect, like the strawberries, but my imperfect love is accepted and enjoyed, just like the chocolate-covered strawberries.
Fuji FinePix 1300 on Macro mode, natural sunlight.
I really wanted to do something that was more suralistic ( or however that is spelled) and a bit creepy & I thought I should practise alittle on photomanipulations, so I mixed it in this piece. Its manipulation, painting and bought background.
Practised ALOT with hair and the dress here!
Background wall and floor made in Daz 3D with repaint and modification, adding flowers and butterflies to the wall.
Some references was used for the girl and dress.
about 25-30 hours of total work!
