You were in awe of them. They looked so much different than they had in the photographs. They're long unkempt hair had been sheared short, and their locks now shined with cleanliness. They'd been washed, clothed in silken pants. They were breathtaking.
Piercing eyes of icy blue and bloody red stared at you as the two lounged in their nest. Right now, they looked very much like two regular twenty-some year olds. But of course, you knew better.
"Don't stare, dear!" your father chided quietly and you quickly turned away from the windowed enclosure, cheeks pink.
Ever since you'd started homeschooling, your father loved to bring you along to his research lab. This allowed you access to sights and knowledge others would have to wait years for, which was in all rights exciting, but nothing, nothing, had ever, nor would ever top the sight you had before you now.

A sharp click resonated in your ears, your head whipping up in dazed confusion. Gilbert had his nose a few inches from yours, ruby orbs eyeing you intently through the glass of his prison. He lay stomach down on a branch, head propped up on his fist as it rested snuggly beneath his chin. Yet another one of the many habits he'd picked up during his relentless observation of you.
You shuddered as your name left his lips in an inviting coo. Damn your father for speaking so freely about you to them. Damn him for teaching them to speak in the first place.
Their voices were thick with accent, the sounds jumbled and incorrect sometimes, but there was never any doubt what they were saying. They had learned quickly, displaying their talent to you, as if it was all for you.
Come to think of it, maybe it was.

It'd been a few days since your father had instructed you to remain at home. The whole ordeal had really given you an insight into the true meaning of "home school." And it was boring. Sprawled on the couch in the living room, you were staring mindlessly at the open emptiness of the ceiling.
A groan echoed through the empty house, followed by the soft click of the front door closing. You glanced up from your resting place, noting your father's sour expression.
"What lemon you been sucking on?"
He shot you one of his rare dirty looks, collapsing into one of the armchairs with a sigh. "They asked where you were."
"Yes, the two birdmen."
You sat up slowly, the familiar tightness of anxiety plaguing your chest. "How... How do you know?"

That was the only word I could use to describe the world around me. The snow around me was untouched, save for the footprints I'd left trailed behind me. Mountains could be seen off in the distance, rising up in majestic glory. The sky was a crisp bright gray, small flakes falling softly from it. Uninterrupted by the wind, I could stick my tongue out and catch the flakes easily. Such a childish thing it was, but I didn't care.
Yes, it was a perfect winter day.
Skipping through the last of the sparse, bare trees, I grinned as I finally reached my destination. The lake sparkled before me in all its glory, the surface covered in the thick, mid-winter ice. I paused a moment before letting out a loud laugh and barreling down the hill in a very un-lady like manner.
I slid to a stop at the bottom, falling purposefully down on my rear. Ignoring my wet pants, I pulled my skates off of my back. Throwing my boots off onto a snowdrift, I quickly laced the bladed footwear.

“We believe they were fighting for dominance, since the younger attacked the older first.” One of your father co-workers told him.
“Why are they only acting this way now? We found them working together in the wild…” your father asked.
“Of course they didn’t have a female to fight over there.”
“But they’ve been watching her for months, why are they fighting now? Do you think it has anything to do with her kissing them on the cheeks?”
The two men entered the birdmen’s now separated pens. It was the original that they had put up a wall in between the two, so they could only see each other. Both were beaten and torn from their fight, so they had gauze and bandages all over them. Ludwig gave death glares to all passersby, and Gilbert was tucked in the corned closet to the glass and Ludwig’s side, nursing a broken arm. His ruby eyes searched the crowd diligently, and then he tucked himself away again.

A dream come to life.
Just before Valentine's Day, you had met the most phenomenal man in the entire universe. He called himself the Doctor, and you had fallen for him the moment you heard his enthusiastic introduction.
"'Ello! I'm the Doc-tah!"
You had met under more than strange circumstances. There had been a series of disappearances in your neighborhood. No one had any evidence, there were no witnesses, and the police had no leads. Then, one morning, the Doctor landed on the roof of your house. Just as you had gone outside to investigate, he leaped down and nearly landed on top of you. Curious as to why he was on your roof and where he was going, you followed him, and nearly got yourself killed. Several stone angel statues-which he later explained were alien beings called "Weeping Angels"-had been the culprits.

It was a narrow escape but the two of you had managed to get away in time (with some help from the Doctor's trusty sonic screwdriver, as always). After catching your breath you staggered to your feet. The Doctor was immediately on his and bounding towards the glowing console. You skipped after him.
"Where to next?" you asked. The Doctor's face lit up.
"You're quite the eager one, (f/n)," he grinned at you. He seemed impressed. You took this as a compliment and blushed slightly.
"Can we go somewhere nice?" you asked with a smile.
"Coming right up!" The Doctor gave you a cheeky wink and fiddled with the console. With a final pull of the Wibbly Lever, there was the familiar whooshing noise and the TARDIS pulled into motion. You and the Doctor were thrown off of your feet in seconds.

Second victim: A younger man, flat-sharing a place in town with some mates. Had a girlfriend but no family and was unemployed. Used to work in the army. No witnesses.

Looking to your left, you saw the Doctor’s brown eyes, a soft smile on his lips.
He looked up in the cloudless sky, and you wondered if he was dreaming of the planet Earth again.
Ever since he had read about it in one of the many books the library had, he was constantly talking about it, and your second best friend and you were always rolling eyes when he came running towards both of you, new books about his

His voice echoed through the rooms and reached you in one of the many hallways.
“(f/n)!” He called out again, and you quickened your steps.
Pressing a hand to your temple, you rounded another corner, the final doorframe to the control room already in sight.

Leaning against the wall, you tried to breathe slowly, calming your pounding heart.

This head-ache had haunted you for weeks now, but it got worse every day. You felt your heart beating behind your eyes, the feeling increasing and lowering like it got some sort of rhythm.

Your singing and dancing came to an sudden end as you twirled in the control room and not found the Doctor there as expected.
You glanced around the room, even underneath the control panel, but he wasn’t there.
Stopping your MP3-Player, you placed it back in your pocket and removed your earplugs.
Circling the control panel a few times, you finally caught sight of a small paper, a hastily scribbled message on it.

You let out a frustrated moan, and tossed the paper in the next corner.
Sitting down on the steps that led up to one of the many corridors the TARDIS had, you thought about what to do in the next hours.
It wasn’t the first time the Doctor had left you in his TARDIS to do something with his precious River Song. The last time it had been a picnic on Asgar

You had asked her to let you connect your phone with her system to listen to music, and she accepted, but had deleted a few songs after she checked your playlists (these songs weren’t your favourites, so it didn’t mattered). Swirling around, you collected some clothes and went down the hallway to put them in the cleaner inside of one of the bathrooms. The TARDIS transmitted the playing song, so you could sing on while going out of your room. You jumped down the hallway, one time legs crossed, at the next jump normal again while singing:

An afternoon in town, drawing the local church.
You remember that one elderly lady, stopping to look at the unfinished drawing and telling you how lovely it looked. She had managed to get back in time to take another look at the finished piece of art, chatting for a bit with you.
Flipping the page, a small grin tugs at your lips.
There, in the background of a drawing of the oldest tree in the Center of your small home town, just barely caught in four or five lines, is a box.
Thinking back, you wonder why it hadn’t had caught your eye. On the other hand, it had been a stressful week.
“What are you doing there?” Had a voice asked over your shoulder, startling you.

If what was written within this book was true, could this mean that you were meant to be here.
In retrospect, it was strange that you’d been found, if you wanted to use that word, by the first demon, Ludwig. Why had you’d been picked to be a quote, human sacrifice, to that group? Things that weren’t adding up from past sleepless nights now were becoming a little clearer.
Then that would mean your past was a lie. You were nothing more than a fake memory on earth; your adoption, the church, everything. Every moment that you’d come to know, every person you’d come to love was a lie. You were never meant to be there. Your place was meant to be here in Dia-Talamh.

The Doctor figured out how to hack into the system that 'teleported' you to bring himself to your location. It was much easier than running down twenty three flights of stairs.
"Right! I need you to stay here and make sure everyone is safe," he commanded Alex. The guard nodded and turned to the crowd of workers that were going to start asking questions soon.

You stared in shock at the gaping hole in the wall, the one that the Doctor just jumped through.
All for her.
He left, to save her. Didn’t even look back as he rode through the glass, shattering his link to the ship. He had no way of getting back to you now. And he didn’t say goodbye, he didn’t do anything.
All for his dear Reinette. He just met her, and yet she was already more important than you.
You knew the Doctor wasn’t yours, you knew he never would be, but he just left you so easily. You thought you meant more to him than that, but apparently not.
You heart had shattered like the mirror as the Doctor disappeared through it, the wall closing up behind him. You sunk to the ground, clutching your knees to your chest as the tears started falling.
The Doctor bolted into the ship, looking around for you. He beamed happily; he w

You were reading a book in the library on the TARDIS, snuggled onto a cushy armchair, when the book said something about ice cream.
For the next two hours as you read, all you could think about was ice cream. With a sigh, you marked your spot, placed your book on the table, and exited the room. You hurriedly found the kitchen, looking frantically through the freezer.
“What are you doing?” The Doctor asked curiously, leaning against the doorframe. You jumped, dropping a box of popsicles.
“Why do we have popsicles and not ice cream?” You asked exasperatedly, looking down at the popsicles in annoyance.
“Don’t like ice cream.” The Doctor said with a shrug. You whipped around to look at him, your eyes wide.
“You don’t like ice cream? Why the bloody hell not?”
The Doctor’s mouth curved upwards, obviously amused by you.
“I just don’t.”
“What about…banana ice cream?”

“__y/n__ do we have any apples?” The Doctor asked, poking his head into your room. You were lounging on the bed, reading a book.
“You don’t like apples, remember?” You asked, not bothering to look up.
“You hate that too.”
“How is it that you don’t remember what foods you like?”
“Bread and butter?”
“Fish fingers and custard?”
“Bingo.” You said at last, looking up from your book with a smile on your face. The Doctor smiled back before he turned from the room, frantically looking for the kitchen.
“__y/n__, where’s the kitchen?” You heard him call, and you sighed before closing your book and standing up.
“Honestly, what would you do without me?” You muttered, shaking your head slightly as you exited the room.
You were just exiting your room and the Doctor was j

“Remember, keep your eyes shut. I promise I’ll come back.” The Doctor whispered, his forehead pressed lightly against yours as his hands cupped your cheeks. You opened your mouth to protest, you did not want to stay here with that…thing in you, but the Doctor just shushed you, pressing, what you guessed to be a finger, to your lips.
“__y/n__, I have to go.” The Doctor added, right before you felt something warm and firm against your lips. You were tempted to open your eyes, oh so very tempted, but if you did you’d die, so you refrained. The pressure disappeared, and you could hear the Doctor leaving, twigs cracking and leaves crunching.
“Did you just kiss me?” You called out, hearing a faint chuckle as the Doctor moved farther away. You huffed, crossing your arms across your chest.

You sighed, standing next to the Doctor as he planned where you would go next.
“What’s wrong?” The Doctor asked after a moment, extracting his hands from the TARDIS and turning to look at you.
“Just a bit…homesick I guess.” You muttered, shaking your head slightly. The Doctor’s gaze became worried, and slightly hurt. He did his best to make your adventures as safe and well, fun, as possible, but right now you didn’t seem happy.
“Go home then.” The Doctor said sharply, turning back to the TARDIS’ controls. You smiled slightly, whacking him on the arm playfully. “Oww. What was that for?”
“You being a baby.” You said matter-of-factly. “Of course I don’t want to leave! But it’s Christmas, I miss celebrating it.”
The Doctor turned to look at you, a smile spreading across his face.
“Well that’s different!” The Doctor exclaimed, his hands moving to the small of

You at last reached the door, Adam slipping under it, you reaching it moments later, just as the metal slid shut.
“__y/n__, where are you? Did you make it?” The Doctor asked anxiously from the cell phone clutched tightly in your hand. You didn’t answer for a moment, resting your body against the cool metal door, sighing deeply.
“Sorry…I was a bit slow.” You mumbled, moving the cell phone up to your ear.
“It wasn’t your fault, remember that, okay? It wasn’t your fault.” You said softly, hearing the Dalek move right behind you.
The Doctor tore the earpiece from his ear as he heard “Exterminate”, throwing it

“Are you okay?” The Doctor asked gently, pulling your face out of his chest so he could look at you.
“I just…I just really needed a hug.” You mumbled softly, tearing your gaze away from his blue one and glancing awkwardly around the TARDIS.
The Doctor had taken you on as a companion almost a year ago, having saved you from some shop store mannequins who came to life. Life with the Doctor was certainly interesting, always full of adventure.

The Doctor followed not far behind, both of you cradling his body as his breathing slowed.
“Regenerate! Please, regenerate!” You begged, the Doctor pleading with him as well. You knew that your father was a bad man, and you knew that what he did to the Doctor was wrong, but you still didn’t want him to die. He was your father, the only one you’d ever get.
You glanced over at your mother, who was staring at your father with a blank expression.

You whimpered as you walked through the graveyard, eyes playing tricks on you. You thought that you saw the stone statues moving and started running, your little legs working as fast as they could to get away.
It was Halloween night and your mother had taken you out trick-or-treating. You had wandered off after you saw a puppy, chasing it into the graveyard. Now though, you were seriously regretting it.
You were lost in this graveyard, and you didn’t know how to get out. You felt something tugging on your fairy wing costume, slipping out of the wings and turning around to see a stone angel, its fist clenched around your wings.
You froze, eyes wide. How had the statue moved? It was stone and it wasn’t real.
“Just relax.” You heard a voice say from behind you. You were just about to turn around when the voice stopped you from doing so. “Don’t turn around, don’t even blink.” You kept your eyes trained on the statue, willing yourself not to b

You scowled as Jack hurried out of your shared apartment, offering you a cheeky grin and a quick wave before he left, going out to meet another one of his “friends”.
Jack was your best friend, and he had been for a long time, but somewhere along the line you had fallen for him. Which sucked. It seriously sucked. There was nothing else you could use to describe it; it was just terrible.
You hated that you had feelings for him, you hated that he was so damn attractive, you hated that he had so many “friends”, sometimes you even hated being his friend.
Why, why on Earth did you have to fall for him? What did you do to deserve this? You sighed, locking the door and curling up on the couch, blinking furiously to keep the tears at bay.
You wanted to tell him, oh how you wanted to, but you didn’t want him to leave. And you knew he would, he was Captain Jack Harkness, he didn’t love the people he slept with, he was just full of lust.
And if he knew that you
