The beautiful Tristania Falls - Dorrigo World Heritage National Park just as the mist envelops the surrounding rainforest, such a significant drop in temperature. I was forced to wait under a giant palm for the rain to pass, I'm really glad I did because conditions like these you can't pass up.

Mainly a slight saturation tweak and contrast boost here. The difference from the original and the update is more noticeable when you compare side by side. Enjoy!

Coastline enveloped by sea spray during the golden hour, after an afternoon shower.

Golden hour (sometimes known as magic hour) is the first and last hour of sunlight during the day. Typically the lighting is more diffused because the sun is near the horizon, so the sunlight travels through more of the atmosphere, reducing its intensity.

Tristania Falls - Dorrigo World Heritage National Park, NSW Australia.

This was taken just after the rain had passed, there was quick a dense layer of mist hanging around the gorge, as the clouds opened up I was blessed with this gorgeous light which really illuminated the falls through the mist.

Godafoss,
Iceland

Godafoss in the north of Iceland is undoubtedly one of the highlights of a photographic trip. Marianne and I were very fortunate to encounter this waterfall with the prevailing wind blowing back into the falls which allowed us the rare freedom of shooting without spray interfering. I shot this one with an ND500 and found out that later, Marianne took a vertical shot of the same scene .

Seljalandsfoss
Iceland

I have no words to describe the feeling of being under, behind or level with this waterfall in southern Iceland. Even though this was our second trip to Iceland , we actually stopped by here a few times (as we were heading to and from Jokulsarlon and earlier when we were heading to the Westman Islands). There is a muddy path leading higher than the usual vantage point which I climbed to get this shot. Sady, no blue sky images for this trip at Seljalandsfoss. The "Kata" rain cover worked very well and the cameras survived this time without damage.
Image was taken with 7D + Sigma 10-20, 2 stop hard and 3 stop soft GNDs and plenty of wiping!

Kirkjufellsfoss,

This waterfall lies just outside of the town of Grundafjordur on the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The mountain, Kikjufell is an unusually shaped one which from certain angles resembles a witch's hat.

Forever Dreaming...yep, that's me allright. I rendered this image outside my campsite on Olympic's north coast, in Washington. The combination of season and tide were essential. I'd been here many times without similar results.
This is a 5 minute exposure. Light and colors recorded here are not so visible to the naked eye.

Triglav - Mostnica Pool

This is a look at the fall from my recent shot, but this time I'm right in front of it. The pool above the fall might be several meters deep and I'm still impressed by that rock floating above the water there.

Back at Golling

I've been here three times this year but never managed to shoot from this viewpoint as the huge amount of water always covered this place in a fog of fine water particles.
At the moment the fall carries less water and it was possible to do the shot. It wasn't easy though. I had about 10 seconds before the lens was covered with a layer of water. The shot had to be taken in several steps. Composing, focusing, measuring - inbetween I always had to clean the lens. And on top of that I had to take 3 exposures for the dynamic range.
I hope it was worth the effort. I finally have got that shot now.

The swirling waters of the Iguazu River tumble into the sunset mist of the rainforest.

I took this a day after my other version of this scene. The sunset light was more dramatic this evening with cloudy warm tones.

My 100th deviation submission!

The Photo

Another shot from the session I did the other week on the South West coast of Portugal. This was the last shot of the night, 30 minutes after the sun had set...and I'm amazed it worked out to be honest..there was so much spray in the air that I didn't think it was worth trying anything longer than a couple of seconds.

After I returned from Scotland I didn't spend enough time editing the shots, and this one in particular was rushed...I was never happy with, so I've gone back and done it again. This has a darker foreground..in the last one it was much brighter which reduced the contrast and drama in the shapes of the landscape and the light, and I've also cropped it a little on the right.

A shot looking east into the rising sun from the Quiraing, Isle of Skye
It's a very very common location, but the place we stayed was 5 minutes driving from here...so what are you going to do? NOT shoot it?

I had wonderful conditions that morning, the sun was mostly obscured, but as the cloud wasn't too heavy, there was still plenty of colour in the sky and breaks in the cloud for sun beams.

From the exact same spot I captured my last submission about 15 minutes later with a telephoto lens.

The Photo

Old shot taken at Praia do Guincho in April 2008. I haven't been doing much landscape work over the last 4 months, so here's an old waterscape from last year to keep my gallery ticking over.

As summer passes I'm hoping to get out and shoot more land/waterscape photos...it's really been too long and I can't wait to get back into it.

You'll know where the title comes from if you were an angst-ridden teenager in 80s Britain. Classic song [link]

The Goðafoss (Icelandic: waterfall of the gods or waterfall of the goði) is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. It is located in the Mývatn district of North-Central Iceland at the beginning of the Sprengisandur highland road. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters.
