Ben's eyes opened slowly, and he groaned softly. The beeping was a heart monitor, and he was in a hospital bed.
Val gasped and lurched out of her chair to kneel by Ben's side. "Ben. Oh, baby." She took his hand, weeping quietly. "Ben..."
"I'm alright, Mom," His voice sounded too soft, too unemotional. He cleared his throat, saying in a croak, "I'm fine."
Matt was outside of the room, taking care of business, talking to a group of police officers that were informing him of a recent arrest. An arrest consisting of a few bullies.
"No, honey," Val gripped his hand a little tighter. "You're not...Ben, your father and I are always here for you. Never, ever let it get this bad again." She had a hard tone, but it was also full of love.
Ben looked down, ashamed. "I promise...Sorry, mom."

As they got into Matt's car, Matt saw Mr. Klog stop dead in his tracks and star at Matt. Then, the principal hurried back into the building.
Matt blinked rapidly before saying, "I'll be back in a minute," before rushing after Mr. Klog.
Mr. Klog was striding down the halls, his feet seeming not to touch the ground.
"Excuse me, Mr. Kocknut," Matt said in a booming voice, catching up to him with more powerful strides, grabbing his shoulder and turning him around.
Mr. Klog gasped, saying, "It's Klog, Mr. Sanders. Klog. And what do you want?"
Matt blinked. "I believe you owe me and my son an apology."
"For what?" He asked in disbelief as if he didn't already know. Matt knew he would put up this hard of a fight to say sorry.
"Because of your laziness and lack of actually doing your job. My son, Ben, in case you forgot, ended up

A few weeks later after the hallway incident, Ben was walking home in a brand new pair of sunglasses. He walked hastily, having called his dad to tell him he was walking home today. On his way home, Ben took a detour to Jimmy's house. He knocked on the door, hoping his uncles weren't...busy.
Jimmy wrenched the door open enthusiastically. "Oh, hey, there, youngin'!" he cried out, pulling Ben inside before blinking. "And why, may I ask, are you wearing sunglasses?"
Ben was happy his eyes were covered, Jimmy couldn't see the lie in them. "Oh, well, I just bought them, and I wanted to try them out!" He smiled big, try

Ben was now a full fifteen year old, attending high school. He didn't have angst, and he didn't fight with his parents often.
His dad and his uncles still got together and played music, none of them really having much signs of aging except the occasional white hair that popped up every now and then. A few wrinkles pressed into their skin, but all of them were still very agile. His mom was barely looked her age, still being an amazing cook.
Brian, Zacky, and Johnny had all cut smoking, knowing it was better to quit than to smoke until they were really old men. They all still shared a beer, but their drunk days were over.
His dad and uncles ran their own music store that had four floors, going on five. His mom had her own beauty/flower shop. She also helped her friend at the dance studio.
All of the adults in his life had helped him get to this point in his life, and he was thankful for every single one of them.
Val slipped out of bed, her hair a little more faded
