Can you hear him doing his moany, yelp thing? I think Yoda and Chewie are my favorite Star Wars characters, so this was a treat to paint. This image is another box illustration for the miniatures set entitled "The Dark Times".

Size: 12x17"

So this was yet another Star Wars character that I was unfamiliar with until this assignment came along. I was asked to imbue the admiral with the look of a "confident and brilliant military man. Striking features and red eyes. The pose and body language should reflect that he is emotionally controlled."

Illustrated for the Star Wars miniatures: Imperial Entanglements packaging art.

I used the same mixed media approach, washes of acrylic in the background and oil built up on top for detail and glazed in for color modulation.

This is a cover Lucas Arts commissioned to me for their Star Wars insider magazine. It was fun to paint the portraits of the Jedis on the wanted poster in the background. The real challenge though, was to get Obi Wan likeness exactly.. they are very picky about that

All photoshop.

A portrait of Princess Leia, from Star Wars. I always enjoyed the fact the she was a princess but wasn't all frou-frou and girly. Leia could kick butt and sling insults with the best of them! Random fact, but I share my birthday with Carrie Fisher, which I always thought was pretty fun.

This was originally drawn with a brown colored pencil on watercolor paper and then I painted a series of ink washes using standard black ink. It gives me a helpful base to work from. I then scanned it and all of the coloring was done in Photoshop with my tablet.

You can see the uncolored version of this right here: [link]

Full view is strongly suggested. ;)

Completed in April of 2006.

This is the third and final picture in my series of heroes from the classic Star Wars trilogy. These are the other two illustrations:
- Solo
- Skywalker

I made this to submit to the fan art contest on the Darth Artsy Live Journal Community for the 30th anniversary of A New Hope.

I so wanted to be Princess Leia when I was a little kid. She got to fight right along with the guys, helps to rescue her rescuers, and winds up with Han Solo in the end. Not a bad deal at all.

This started out on watercolor paper with brown pencil and ink washes and was then digitally colored in Photoshop with my tablet. Completed in January of 2007.

A portrait of Han Solo, from Star Wars. Han is definitely my favorite character from the original trilogy.

The latest issue of Star Wars Insider features a sneak peek at the upcoming Galaxy 5 Topps trading cards, including a look at one of my pieces for the set -- The Clone Wars' own Ahsoka Tano in cold weather gear! I've always loved it when we get to see characters in new costumes, especially ones created for ice planets (c'mon, who didn't love the Hoth outfits?), so it was a blast creating this card. My not-so-secret hope is that one day they'll either use my design in an episode, or turn it into an action figure. I could die happy then.
:)

Image drawn with pencil and brush, then colored digitally in Photoshop.

another tribute to star wars universe.
speed study on the face of the beauty.
start yesterday morning, finish during my lunch break today.
I have to stop with star wars...but I can't :p
speed painting 3 hours and half...3 hours just for the face. women faces are difficult, you can lose easily the feeling of the face if you're not progressing with caution.

thanks for watching

The Princess of Alderaan, from Fantasy Flight's upcoming "Star Wars: The Card Game," one of the products being released as a part of their new Star Wars line. As of this posting it hasn't been spoiled on FFG's website, but it is in the current issue(74) of ImagineFX (you know, the Star Wars issue).

You can check out my other previewed illustration from the set in my gallery (Currently Han and Darth are also in there, with more to come later)
