Very proud to bring these shots from a country that has JUST come out of a 25 year old civil war.
This tiny South Asian Island, to the south of India, known as "Serendib" to Arab geographers was until recently scarred by a bitter civil war arising out of ethnic tensions between the majority Sinhalas and minority Tamils.
When I visited Sri Lanka, Its armed forces were making their final push towards Kilinochchi, the Tamil Tigers stronghold in the north of Island. Yet 200km to the south, no one seemed to care or take notice.
The people portrayed here are both Sinhalas and Tamils.
Contrary to popular belief the two ethnic groups coexist peacefully in most parts of the country and share towns, villages and schools.
Sorry for the massive gap in between submissions, I've just come back from Uganda and Zanzibar. It was absolutely amazing, I can say with almost certainty that I've taken some of the best photos I've ever taken in my entire life in the last two weeks, can't wait to share it all with you!!
