Start of a Journey
I ran downstairs to the living room, jumping over the back of the couch. My brothers were sitting next to each other, waiting for the contest on TV to start.
Move over boys, your sister has arrived!
My two brothers moved apart.
Jeez, pushy much Dani?
Are you kidding Jake? She was born pushy!
I pushed my brother, Hayden, over. Shut up!
He grinned hugely. What can I say? I know how to get a rise out of you!
Hayden was the second oldest at 15. He had messy green hair and eyes, a spitting image of our Mom. He tends to act tougher then he is. Plus, he, like a lot of our family, had taken up the art of participating in Pokemon contests. Right now though, he was taking a break and visiting us.
Jake looked about the same as Hayden, except he was nine, to be 10 tomorrow. Thats when he got to start his Pokemon journey. He was excited about it, and he had decided he was

You were in awe of them. They looked so much different than they had in the photographs. They're long unkempt hair had been sheared short, and their locks now shined with cleanliness. They'd been washed, clothed in silken pants. They were breathtaking.
Piercing eyes of icy blue and bloody red stared at you as the two lounged in their nest. Right now, they looked very much like two regular twenty-some year olds. But of course, you knew better.
"Don't stare, dear!" your father chided quietly and you quickly turned away from the windowed enclosure, cheeks pink.
Ever since you'd started homeschooling, your father loved to bring you along to his research lab. This allowed you access to sights and knowledge others would have to wait years for, which was in all rights exciting, but nothing, nothing, had ever, nor would ever top the sight you had before you now.

That was the only word I could use to describe the world around me. The snow around me was untouched, save for the footprints I'd left trailed behind me. Mountains could be seen off in the distance, rising up in majestic glory. The sky was a crisp bright gray, small flakes falling softly from it. Uninterrupted by the wind, I could stick my tongue out and catch the flakes easily. Such a childish thing it was, but I didn't care.
Yes, it was a perfect winter day.
Skipping through the last of the sparse, bare trees, I grinned as I finally reached my destination. The lake sparkled before me in all its glory, the surface covered in the thick, mid-winter ice. I paused a moment before letting out a loud laugh and barreling down the hill in a very un-lady like manner.
I slid to a stop at the bottom, falling purposefully down on my rear. Ignoring my wet pants, I pulled my skates off of my back. Throwing my boots off onto a snowdrift, I quickly laced the bladed footwear.

Gut-wrenching, soil-your-pants, and run-away- and-hide-in-the-depths-under-your-bed were the first things that came to mind when she thought of her fear of water. Luckily she hadnt soiled her pants but you get the point.
Um, you done checking out the beach yet? she asked Maya, trying not to show any of her anxiousness. Its getting near lunch time, you hungry?
The other teenager wasnt really listening; she was to busy looking at the tide pools and finding pretty shells on the sand. Wow, this place is beautiful! No wonder your family lives here, its such a great place. she said happily.
Yeah, yeah, its great, can we go now? Roxanne asked, practically begging her friend. I could show you the other gardens; they have lots of pretty flowers!
Again Maya wasnt listening, instead she spotted something. Is that a dock? she asked, standing on a

Thinking up ideas.
But every time I try to write one,
I just burst into tears.
Not tears of sadness, nor tears of joy,
Nor when you wet your pants in fright.
There tears of mock and embarrassment,
That I cry when I cannot write.
What is up with my mind today?!
I question myself with hate.
Why can I not write theses ideas?
It cannot simply be fate!
I glared and stared at the mirror,
Hoping that I would find the answer there.
But instead of answers I see my own face,
Laughing at me, without a care.
Idiot! she yells at the top of her voice,
Dont you know what the problem be?
No, I do not! I yelled back at her,
But could you please help me!
My reflection thought long and hard,
And then she gave me a grin.
Fine, Ill help you out. she said,
It wouldnt be fair not to let you win!
Why cant I write?! I asked her dearly,
Ignoring the gremlins o
