This is a 14" X 14" stippling piece I drew when I was 17 (1984). Stippling is a pen & ink method where tiny dots are placed near each other to create tonal values.

Needless to say, this took me a very long time to draw. Even the darkest tones were dotted with the same tiny tip (Rapidograph).

It was later that I learned to paint in dark areas with a brush and use white dots to lighten the tone.

Another stippling drawing - done later when I learned how to do dark areas (like the inset). Saved lots of time - painted in the blacks and used white ink to stipple in tones.

Stippling takes a long time, and its really not that big in real life. Anyway, I am happy with how it came out, I think it looks neat!

Please Comment.

Mitchell: Nope.

Kid: He came last night.

Mitchell: Yeah?

Kid: My mother doesn't like you.

Mitchell: I don't like your mother.

Kid: Why not?

Mitchell: Why not?

Kid: No, why not?

Mitchell: No, why not?

Kid: Why are you repeating what I'm saying?

Mitchell: Why are you repeating what I'm saying?

Kid: I'm not.

Mitchell: Well, I'm not.

Mitchell: Buzz off.

Kid: What?

Mitchell: What?

Kid: What did you say?

Mitchell: What you say?

Kid: Did you say something?

Mitchell: You say something?

Kid: You said buzz off.

Mitchell: You're lying through your teeth.

An art project I did at school and I got an A+ on.. :D
Other than that, this is only my second time I have done stippling and I'm really proud of myself because it came out beautifully. This tiger is made completing out of dots. I used sharpie marker after I sketched it out with a pencil.

Dead Space necromporph slasher fan art. Done with fine tipped makrers, used stippling to get different shades, meaning the drawing is made mostly of small dots, I then did a few more tone, contrast, and other effects in photoshop to make the image pop.
