A Moment of Silence...A Moment of Silence...1 year ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Signing papers, in a squared-up work space...8 hours to go before the end of the day.
Fax machines scripting, copiers printing...there's a meeting going on somewhere
Typing waivers, and ideas being shared...30 minute break to even the score while keeping sleep at bay.
Tax screens blipping, don't do it sloppier!...a strong scent of black coffee in the air
Suddenly, a thunderous crash! Sending shock amongst the mass! Confusement runs wild.
Wondering why the police rush by, sirens past through in the blink of an eye.
Concrete shatters and windows are blasted, a doll drops from small hands. Cries from a child.
Shuddering sighs increase the demise, flying jets screaming and zoom in the sky.
Debris that's scattered in dent doors that outlasted, a wall flopped backwards...no doubt this was done by man.
Yells of safety go out, as the fireman shouts, "Can you hear my voice?!"
Victims being lifted, carried, and shifted to nearest aid they can find.
Bells ring lately to alert the un-found, and

Prince of whispers, this is a
Dream for me
And being mortal, I do not
Dream like you
Caught in your celestial silence
While the licorice night unwinds
Soft, sensuous, willing
I press those rosy lips
In hopes they will kiss back
Sacred prince, I have been
Wandering for a long time
Looking for nothing
Watching for no one
I have kidnapped a host of
Weary, stupid thoughts
Not worth your notice
But oh, he did hear
And my heart wept
You became that something
You became that someone
And the tears shivered from our eyes
Though yours could not weep
Prince of darkness, this is a
Confession, a penance
Being mortal, I have
Sinned too much to care
But I find myself caring now
Wandering, drunken, through starlight
Trailing my thoughts
Sick and remorseful
In a blind search
For you, princeling, are my darkness
You, shining sovereign, are my silence
And I never tasted a whisper
With greater pleasure
Than the night you reared in melody
And saw past this broken he

The tree of life gives family trees, that in return make children of the earth.
We forget our love of our family tree,
And reach for the stars when we have not yet learned how to grasp them yet.
And so first we must return to our family tree to teach us to truly be children of the earth.
To move forward and grasp the stars...

shadow and blood
rivers of red
They do not call you child
for you are the Dark
This is a lullaby
just for you
When you close your eyes
so you can dream
I call you
Let me calm your soul
quiet that raging mind of yours
Oh, old doors with
blood covered hinges
close once more
in the day
is over and done
has gone away
There is only now
and only this
so close your eyes
and let your mind
flow to silence
with my song
Let me hold you
in my arms
and keep you safe from harm
To all the world
to all but me
a demon you may seem
you are a
sweet child with a
dark soul and so I
do not let you go
Close your eyes
and I will be there
I will help you breathe
the quiet and the peace
shall let you cry
the tears you
And so you slip
off to sleep
for I have gone ahead

I wish I was there,
So you could hold me tight.
I wish I was there,
To talk all night long.
Or sit in the presence,
Of the one with whom I belong.
I wish I was there,
To tell you I care.
I wish I was there,
To tell you I'll always be here.
Even if you no longer dare,
To love me, I swear.
My only wish is this,
To be with you in bliss.

Aeolus is a water-world found within what would become the Segmentum Pacificus. It lies at the centre of a system comprising 12 planetary bodies, discovered late in the Age of Technology and settled by a series of colonist fleets who found a system that, though lacking in resources on individual planets was rich in resources as a whole. Upon the fall of Old Night and the beginning of the Age of Strife, the system fell into economic decline, which ended with the outbreak of civil wars on many of the planets, leaving the system in places a broken husk of it's former self. As the millennia passed, the petty warlords and demagogues who had led the region though this time were either overthrown or bent their knees before the forces of Aeolus and the Caesers, the lords of the world as they fought to restore the system to peace and unity. Through the actions of these men, a blend of military and political leader, the Aeolus system was slowly rebuilt into an echo of the past.

Choosing to lie
beneath the lines
Plain to the naked eye
Was it worth it
and then go through it all again
Do you try
Even with this paper trail
You don't succeed
and it will always be this way
You try so hard
to be good to people
to never look back on things and regret
Yet find yourself doing just that
because of what one person did not get
When I cry
does it satisfy you?
When I try
can you never be happy
I give you my all
and yet you say nothing.
So is it pointless for me to try at all?

And they were probably the best 2 years of my life
They carry the most memories
The best memories by far

Just to get a break
Just to ease the stress
Sit in an abandoned house on the edge of town
Just to listen to music
For hours and hours
Slip away for awhile

Forget about life
I might not have been here today
It is my reason to live
Those years were great
I wish I could relive them just one more time...

Logan moved through the debris, each second more came cascading down around him and it was becoming more difficult to get through. But he didn't say anything to those he would hurt with his passing.
The second was forced to realize that her freedom was nothing more than an illusion. Faced with the shattering of her world as she knew it, she took a gun, pressed it to her temple, and pulled the trigger.
All that was said on her death was "But people don't do such things!"
The third hadn't been able to sleep for weeks. The whisperings of ghosts kept him awake late into the night, and not even the comfort of the troll who had assigned himself to be his moirail could help h

It just so happened that one day a women, whom we shall call Lily, happened upon a second hand men's watch.
It had such curious engravings upon its surface that she was mesmerised, and immediately took it upon her person despite its ill fitting and odd glow. Upon getting home to the privacy of her home she took to fitting the watch properly and was quite proud of her new trinket admiring it greatly before resting happily. The next day she wandered around town showing off her new watch every chance she got. Everyone all remarked on how intricate and exquisite it was, all except one person who simply frowned.
"Why i've seen that watch before." the stranger replied with a solemn tone. "Used to belong to an old man, used to be a nice fellow, a wanderer. Its odd that it is now in your possession it seems its quite far away from home. You see, It used to be his most valuable treasure. That is until he met with a terrible fate. Numerous other cuts covered that arm, all of them spilling my strength onto the sand below. My opponent had not come out of the exchange unharmed. A narrow line of red crossed his chest from right hip to left shoulder. A shallow wound not life threating in the least. I had to think of something fast; black spots were welling at the edges of my vision. I charged. His blade ripped into my injured arm. I blacked out for a moment from the pain.
When I came to, his blade was buried deep in my arm just above the elbow. I took a seco

Reflections on Krypton It's serene up here. As I soar above the beautiful planet that adopted me, I can't help but think about my own planet. I wonder what it was like. What went on day-to-day, what did it resemble, who lived there? I think of my family. My parents, and my cousin. My wife. And all my friends. How they make me the man that I am. They are the reason I try to save the world. Because as much as I can't imagine my own planet existing today, I can't imagine Earth not existing tomorrow. So many cheer and scream my name, I sometimes worry that I will let them down. But I must not fall. Not now. Threats have faced the Earth countless times, and somehow I have beaten them down. I have so much to give to humanity, but I fear that most aren't ready; and the ones that are, are not good people. So I must keep my true self a secret. To protect those I love. To protect my home. This place has truly become a beacon of hope. Not because of me, or other heroes; but the people here that fiReflections on Krypton6 months ago in Short Stories More Like This
