Silver liningI decided to write a journal as a tiny bit of a follow up on my health situation,Silver lining2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
as a lot of people have been concerned about me in the past few weeks, and have been asking me how I was.
Up until now, there honestly haven't been a lot of updates.
The situation was pretty much the same. I've gotten new medication for the migraines. It took another few days off the next attack, but unfortunately also came with very bad and serious side effects that made me very sick and impacted my life greatly. Yes, I've been absent at times. And yes, I've been agitated at times --more than I'd usually be. Though some of those trolls could probably even drive a sane person to madness.
Last week I finally received some good news from the hospital.
After more than 3 months or waiting, making phone calls, negotiating with insurances and whatnot... the waiting is finally over. I'm starting my rehabilitation treatm

Top ten WORST Disney Sequels: 6!6) Mulan IITop ten WORST Disney Sequels: 6!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Okay so...There are mixed feelings about this sequel. Basically if you have no attachment nor liking to the original Mulan movie, this movie isn't that bad. However, if you are a fan of the original this sequel basically shits all over the stuff that made the original good and worthwhile. While 'Mulan' isn't Disney's strongest work, it did kill a lot of the Disney Princess stereotypes that the company was criticized of, which I appreciate inmensely. To express my feelings of why the sequel is an atrocious piece of garbage, I have to mention the stuff that I adored from the first movie.
When I was a kid, Mulan was definately one of my favorite Disney heroines. I owned a lot of merchendise concerning her, including her barbie doll. Not only that but I had toys of Mushu and the Cricket and I became very interested in Chinese culture. Along with Megara and Belle, Mulan was definately one of my biggest influences. I also became interested in martial arts and was enrolled

I couldn't find the power to motivate myself today. Nor yesterday, or the day before.
The truth is; I'm doing badly. Very badly.
As some of you know I've already been having serious health problems for a while.
It all started in the first week of January, with a car crash. Another car hit mine from behind on the highway. My car was totally damaged and I was taken to the hospital for a checkup because my neck felt a bit weird. Initially everything was fine, I thought. The test proved no bones where broken. The insurance company paid up for my car (luckily -- it was very expensive). And I was allowed to go home. I did feel sick for the first few days after the accident, but I thought of it as stress, took a few aspirins, and went back to work the next Monday after that.
The first days at work were horrible. My head hurts, I felt dizzy and had a hard time focusing on my work. But again; I thought it was ju

I have many friends from the US, and I worked with US staff long enough to learn that there are many good individuals among American population. In this post I'm not criticising them, because they are nice and smart people. In this post I'm going to talk about the _other_ kind of individuals from the States and from (our sodomised) Europe who can't tell between Norway and Denmark, and who think that everyone has to behave like them because of 'America/Europe - huck yeah!'
It looks really silly when some US citizens think that the rest of the world is populated by Americans too (in terms of worldview). And they genuinely wonder why there are laws and opinions that differ from the 'US way'. For God's sake, guys. Have you seen the world map?
I'm talking about this because of one thing (among others) I don't like - the export

What was your first deviation? Nothing that's still around, let's just forget about it.
What is your favourite type of art to create? Writing, digital, clay, there can be no favorite, only the flavor of the week.
If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? Dang man, I'd master what I already struggle with first!
What was your first favourite? probably something cheesy and scifi'y, but the fave folders have been cleaned out and pruned several times since then.
What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? Fantasy, creepy creative stuff, not been a fan of fandom stuff, other than being guilty of wa

Why people need to stop...... whining about female warrior and super heroine character designs. Why people need to stop...4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Answer: In short, because they sound like whiny wannabe-feminist with major complexes and no knowledge of how art in a professional level works.
So a bit of background story, as some of you know, I was mostly oriented to fine arts, this has been changing progressively with time, and now, I'm more focused to character design and marketable illustrations. This has led me to a lot of research and self instruction via internet. But with the good, comes the bad. I wanted to write this entry for a while, because thanks to lack of experience I used to agree with criticizing the industry standards when it comes to representation of female characters, huge boobs, skinny frame, bikini armor stereotype.
And then, I stumbled upon the famous eschergirls tumblr account. http://eschergirls.tumblr.com/
First of all I must say these guys have some major balls, to transform this:
Ugh, I think I prefer the bimbo heroine with
Powergirl, World's FinestAs much as i like Powergirl visually, it was her likeable, confident, fiercely ( to a fault ) independent and mildly put upon character that made me a fan, her outfit was secondary, which is why i'm happily using her Gold and white one in some of my fan artwork ( it looked good to me back then, it still looks good to me now, with slight adjustments ). A while back i posted an entry on why it is a mistake to write Powergirl off as just a Supergirl from another Earth, having finally read the first collected edition of Powergirl and Huntress, or 'Worlds Finest' i think i was spot on http://fav.me/d5taw3i. although i was taken aback by the fact this New 52 comic has done something i didn't think possible, it has made me dislike Powergirl, which is pretty impressive really.Powergirl, World's Finest3 years ago in Personal More Like This

The common misconceptionWhen giving workshops last weekend, I was confronted with something at least remarkable. The common misconception2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I had a random chat with a girl that apparently knew me from DeviantArt. We a friendly conversation about art such. It wasn't that strange, until she concluded her message with.
"It's nice talking to you. I always wanted to know what you were like. You know... since you draw so well"
And I was like... "Huh? What?"
Some people see me as a talented writer or artist, others (including myself) raise the bar even higher.
But regardless of what you see as skilled or not, I don't think there's such a thing as 'them' and 'us' in the art world. It's too small of a world. We're too alike. And I think most of us aren't exactly prone to living a celebrity lifestyle anyway. Bitches & bling don't match well with the usually quiet lifestyle an artist prefers.
When I started doing painting, I looked up to many of the lo

A Pop Culture Interpretation of The Supernatural
Every culture around the world created gods and other mythical beings by mixing and matching fanged and taloned animal parts—e.g., enormous eagle heads on lions’ bodies—human beings have always seemed to need to believe there are powerful and usually quite vengeful supernatural beings lurking just beyond the candlelight.
Supernatural beings come to serve several purposes:
They kept people on the lighted path of truth and goodness, fearful of exploring beyond;
They were a reminder of the punishment we deser
Why we like Warhammer 40,000So I get asked this question a lot, for some reason. You might go 'Oh my god, I can't believe how nerdy this is', but Here's why, as told by an anonymous member of /tg/.Why we like Warhammer 40,0003 years ago in Personal More Like This
"It is the scale and depth. Anything can happen, and it does, all day, every day, at 250% maximum awesome. It is the over-the-top-80's, super-gritty-90's, and depth-demanding-2K's all blended together into one multimedia story. It harkens to the classic tales of the Gothic Age, the epic fables of Northern Europe, the darkness and detached sentimentalism of WW1, the corrupt tales of the urban underworld, the mind-warping fantasies of Lovecraft, and all while maintaining a sense of dark humor and romantic heroism."
And that just about sums it up, really.
Stay awesome, everyone.
Something about talentI've always disliked the term "talented".Something about talent9 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
It implies that things come to you naturally and without any effort, while in reality the people that are considered extremely talented rarely get to the top without any practice. And the 'rarely' is an understatement. I've never seen anyone reach the top without effort. Not ever. I dislike how 'not having talent' is often used as an excuse for not being good at something, while in reality the only real reason that keeps people from accomplishing things is not working hard enough for it. And sure, not working hard enough can have its reasons. Very valid reasons like having different priority's in life, not having enough time next to your school, job or family life, or even battling an illness. It doesn't change the fact that you're capable of doing it.
I always tend to compare art (or any craft in that matter) with running a marathon. Anyone that's not severely handicapped could run a marathon, but it takes a lot of dedication

Will you be my friend? The funny thing about people knowing you, is that many people want to be your friend. Will you be my friend?1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
"Will you be my friend?" is one those questions I get the most.
It's also one the questions I have to answer with a negative answer the most, because I don't like lying to people.
Like I've told in some of my earlier journals, my life didn't overflow with friendship nor popularity when I was younger. It was quite the contrary. I wasn't anything near popular, to the point that most people didn't even want to have anything to do with me. As the kid that got bullied, the few that dared to get close to me, more or less put their social status in the group at stake by even talking to me. And as a result, I guess I valued their friendship a lot. After all; I knew what they risked.
Coming from that sort of situation, friendship has always been a very important but at the same time mysterious matter to me. Something not be
