After our hero said goodbye to his father and little brother, his journey finally started. He was about to leave his town, but before he had to visit the Holy Cave. The highest priest of the cave blessed our hero and wished him luck.
"Good luck young warrior, you will need it. The road in front of you will not be the easiest road you have walked. Be aware of the dangers hidden in the forest"
"Here, take this with you. Write me as soon as you get to the Crystal City. Good luck..."
Chronicles: The Holy Cave The second piece of the serie. This time a collab with my friend ~ndh. He uploaded an earlier version of it on his DA, but it didn't fit too well after all... That's why i did some drastic editing.
Our hero has been on a journey for almost a year now. A year full of dangerous but exciting happenings. After he entered the Crystal City he found the potion he was looking for. An ancient potion to heal his mother. She has been sick since she gave birth of his little brother, three years ago. And now she can be finally healed...
"I can't wait to see my parents and my brother again! And the priest, o yes. I realy need to thank him. Oh and my cousins, and the neighbours. It has been such a long time..."
Chronicles: The Arrival YES YES YES, I'm soooo incredibly happy that I made this final piece. About 6 months ago I started with the first piece and now we have finally come to an end of the young fellow's journey. I hope you will like it as much as I do. Any feedback will be appreciated alot!
O and yes... this is realy the last piece in this series. A series of pieces wich I'm realy proud of. You made this possible guys, thanks
Since I got a lot of possitive feetback on my idea of making longer description, I'm going to give it to all my pieces from now on. Enjoy.
In the beginning the 106th year of the 2nd Era, there was only peace and harmony in and around the world of Idyll. Humans and animals were living together as if they were friends. Every tree and flower was thriving for more than 10 months a year. It was a beautifull world, full of colors.
But as the time passes, the world changes...
A terrible war between Idyll and Aidan broke out. For more than 100 years these two nations have fought eachother. This would finally mean the End of a once beautifull world, known as Idyll...
I've chosen for a new style in this piece, pure for experimenting. Some of the watching people should see that I used some of the same render- and brushing technics that I also used in Mindfields. I tried to give it some more meaning and more details now.
One of the major differences between Idyll's End and Mindfields is the story behind it. Where Mindfields was just an experiment, I tried to give this a story/meaning. To work this story out, I added some stock pictures from Corbis.com. I realy like how this turned out...
This piece means alot to me. It is inspired by the movie and especially the soundtrack of The Last Samurai. This music is some of the best audio I've heared in a very long time, full of emotion.
This piece was made for Oxygenetic's 3th pack. I realy, realy hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoy it... Oh and before I forget, Tuesday is my birthday and I wanted to release it then, but I couldnt wait. So see this as if it is somt kind of birthday present from me to you all.
It has been a long while since the fall of Idyll. The stories about this great nation have been forgotten and nobody knows what happened to the survivors of the war. Untill that one day...
The seven children of Idyll who survived the attack build their own nations in secret. Meanwhile, Aidan continued the attack on other nations. After 3 Eras of war, the seven nations were big enough to take on Aidan. Aidan would finally fell and a new Era of peace and harmony arrived...
The Making Of...
I decided to start of with a new style of abstract render type, combined with a bit of modeling (the rocks). After that was done I was quite amazed by the quality of it. I realy liked it and I had this vision in my head of how the final image would look. Well... It was something totally different from what it is now!
After I did some little lights on the render, I started brushing and I came up with some nice perspectives. I changed my plan and I decided to add spaceships to it. But there was the problem... I can't model! After about 3 hours of drawing and 6 hours of modeling these little fighters came out. I liked them and I decided to make some sort of battlefront. Then I decided to add a mothership to the piece and I started Cinema 4D again...
After aproximately 60 hours of Photoshop and Cinema 4D work this is what came out. I think the .psd file has around 400 layers and 30 sets. Maybe even more, I lost the count...
Well I never worked on anything like this before so this is totally new for me. A huge amount of layers containing brushing, lighting, renders or colors. I think I don't have to say much more about the looks, just take a look yourselfe.
This was never planned to become connected with Idyll's End. The story just floated in my mind today and I thought it fitted. Although the two pieces are totally different from eachother, I tried to connect them with eachother and I think I succeeded. Anyways, tell me what you think of it, I hope it was worth the waiting!
"I'll be home next year dad, don't worry about me! I will be fine! Take care little brother!"
"Be carefull son, the road out there is rough. Watch out."
"I'll be fine dad, bye!"
"Bye little warrior..."
Chronicles: The Goodbye Inspired by Final Fantasy and Lord of the Rings, I made this little poetic piece. I hope you can dig it...
Here we are again , have been working on this one for quite a while and decided to finish it today... im especially fond of how the face worked out in this one... that was quite a challenge for me, the whole piece was actually... anyway give me your thoughts and i hope it can please you.
After a long journey, our hero finally reached his destination. He just has to climb over his last obstacle and then he will finally be in the Crystal City. But what happened to this city? The young pilgrim wonders where the buildings are, he has never seen a city like this.
Chronicles: Entering the Crystal City It's finally here... I'm finally done with the fifth piece of the story. I went for the more "basic" look because I wanted to put my attention to the story behind this one. I realy hope you are as satisfied with it as I am.
I had alot of fun making this one, and I definately hope that there's gonna be a final Part VI. But how the hell can I work out my plans this time...?
Ah well, just keep an eye open and check out my journals once in a while, so you'll stay informed
