New Premium Membership Feature: 10% off!You may have already heard, but we just launched a new feature as part of the Premium Membership package... Premium Members now receive an ongoing 10% discount on Prints and deviantWEAR purchases! That means they'll be saving 10% on all Photo Prints, Fine Art Prints, Wrapped Canvases, Art Gifts, T-shirts, Backpacks, Hoodies, and the rest of our devious gear. If that wasn't a sweet-enough deal, we've made it so that this discount stacks with most other sales that happen in our shop. For example, if we're running a 15% discount on Fine Art Prints, Premium Members will get a total of 25% off because of their additional 10% discount.New Premium Membership Feature: 10% off!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Why are we doing this?
Why not?! We wanted to add this discount as a small token of our appreciation for all the support Premium Members provide us. While we have many more upgrades in the works for the Premium Membership package, I'm excited that we were able to get this to you all in time for the holiday season.
How's it work?

Not So Traditional Tuesdays #12This little feature is now into the double digits of editions . This wasn't something I that had I planned on doing. Originally this was just a one off article because I was bored one day, and started typing in random search words. It is still fun to do though, so I think it will keep going until it no longer is.Not So Traditional Tuesdays #123 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I like to think that the things that make one piece of art great applies, for the most part, to other genres. A painter can learn how light and shadow fall from photography, photo-manipulators can learn about composition from a great Manga drawing, and literature can give you the inspiration to try something new or take your work to the next step. You may never try all art forms you see! You can however take what you learn from them and incorporate that into your own work. It could be the difference between stagnating and that breakthrough every artist wants to find! Now on with

We're having a mini contest at Photomanipulated to create a icon for the group that we can also use as stamp (or two different designs) - it runs until next Sunday. There are no big prizes because we're saving up for a subscription (if you have a few points to spare and like the concept, please consider donating on my userpage at kuschelirmel), but we hope you'll participate anyway for the fame that's in it
Well, first and foremost, it's a chat room - you can enter it here. As with all chat rooms, it'll most likely be quiet when you join, maybe there won't even be someone around to alk to. Don't let that irritate you though! If there's someone there, highlight them (type the first few letters of their nickname and hit the tab key - it'll auto-complete) so the chat will flash in their browser to let them know they're
Project Educate: User Friendly Journal SkinningThis article is written for fellow CSS coders who already have basic+ knowledge of deviantART journal codes. This is not a beginner's tutorial.Project Educate: User Friendly Journal Skinning2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
User Friendly Journal Skin Coding
I've been making journal skins on DeviantART since 2010, I'd dabbled in CSS before, but never for other people. I know what my codes are and how to use them to their full potential and often, just code on the fly when I want something to do something. But making free and commission skins here showed me that I needed to make them as easy to use as they are pretty. And really, who wants to type in a lot of extra HTML when they go to write a journal? It is easy enough to access the artist's comments.
But even then, copy & paste, memorize that.... It can be a lot to deal with if you do not know CSS and HTML. Which is the reason most people get someone else's skin design in the firs
Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant! On Saturday, June 14, 2009, deviantART held a deviantMEET at the Albert Memorial in Hyde Park. Over 350 deviants showed up to celebrate all things deviantART, setting a record for the highest attended deviantMEET in history in the process... until now.Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant!3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Almost exactly three years later -- on Saturday, June 30, 2012 -- at the same location in Hyde Park, London deviants once again turned up in droves. Smashing the previous record, our London deviantMEET 2012 saw over 550 deviants throughout the day.
Most deviantMEETs include a group photo, usually taken towards the end of the event's festivities. However, we wasted no time taking our group shot in front of the Albert Memorial, as we wanted to ensure we were complying with Hyde Park's rules and regulations for large gatherings. With a group this massive -- and awesome -- it's hard not to draw attention!

I can't remember when I started programming exactly, I must have been 6 or 7 years old, with logo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logo_%28programming_language%29
As a child I kept coming back to programming as a hobby, even if it was really tough... until I really "got it" when I was about 14 and I learnt to write Pascal with no handbook, only badly written code samples. They were mostly coding exercises written by my bigger brother who was taking a Pascal class in high school. However my brother refused to teach me anything or explain anything, so I just learnt by reading working code and comparing it to what the executable did. Also, Pascal is obviously in English and I was a French kid, so it was quite easy to misunderstand a lot of the stuff.
Self-learning programming without a book had funny consequences, a

Quick Tips: On Referencing AnatomyReference from real life whenever possible.Quick Tips: On Referencing Anatomy4 years ago in Personal More Like This
When you reference or copy from another artist's studies/sketches/art, you may be copying their mistakes as well. Furthermore, an artist's studies are their notes and --just like with history or chemistry notes-- copying someone else's notes will not help you fully understand the material. To completely understand anatomy, you must take your own notes and build your own understanding through observation.
This is probably a no-brainer for many artists but... scruffynerfherder and I were talking about this last night, and with the increase of "anatomy studies" showing up on dA's front page, it's been on my mind. DA's resource category has some great material, but I also feel like there is a lot of misleading information taught by amateurs who really probably shouldn't be teaching things like shading or anatomy, because they have a less-than-stellar grasp on it themselves. I'm not trying to knock anyone here, but it's a bit tr

By :iconDerekHunter: This is a game my brother and I played CONSTANTLY! Only the sharks occurred in the Dining room, after we stretched out the living room couch and the throw pillows, our bedroom blankets, etc. I was delighted to see that someone captured this in such a perfect way!
By :iconJaredWingate: Having 3 younger brothers, I witnessed this little game of theirs too many times to count. I always got stuck being the damsel in distress... or Catgirl or Batgirl if I was lucky.
By :iconzilla774: Another reason why Monsters, Inc. was such a cool movie - what kid didn't have that moment in their bed where they suddenly thought something else was creeping around? As cool as it was for me to get my very own bedroom as a kid, I had no idea how terrifying it would be.
