After leaving the "Island in the Sky" area of Canyonlands National Park we had a long but beautiful drive to the "Needles" area. We stopped several times, literally overwhelmed by the scenery.

Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado with remnants of last year's snow. The day after we came home there was snow in the "Rockies" at high elevations... a new season has begun!
There are three mountain ranges that come together to make the high Andes. Some friends drove us into the mountains near Cali... this is near the top of that range.
I took one last shot of Mt. Adams before we headed back down, saying goodbye to the wildflowers and the view of Mt. Adams that we had enjoyed during our backpacking trip this past weekend.
We got an early start on the day because we wanted to see two parts of the park which are 80 plus miles apart [you can cover a lot of miles out there]. Arches National Park is quite close to this part of Canyonlands and we had chosen to see as much as possible.
