A good piece of Bowser fanart is something I've wanted to do for a long time, since he's my favorite Nintendo character, and now I've finally gotten around to it. Call me crazy, but I admire how he just keeps trying to kidnap Peach and beat Mario no matter how many times he loses. That is truly courage in the face of adversity, even if he is technically the badguy. But really, can you blame him for kidnapping Peach? Recent games have shown that if anything he's just lonely, and Peach is a severe hotty.
Anyway, I figured I'd draw a picture of him actually kidnapping Peach, because that wasn't ever shown in the old games. Specifically, I chose the kidnapping from Mario 3, because there was a picture of him in the instruction manual wearing a cape and I thought Bowser looked extra cool in a cape. Unfortunately, I couldn't find said picture, so I had to go off of memory.
Having been on DA for two years today, and having been a Mario fan ever since I first held a Nintendo control over a decade ago, I wondered "Why hasn't Mario appeared in my gallery?" So I decided to catch up on Marios latest adventure in Space! *echoes the word space a few times*
I havn't had the privelidge of playing Super Mario Galaxy yet, But seeing some videos, especially of him flying through this stage in "Melty Molten Galaxy" really inspired me to do what I hope was a very epic illustation of Mario's grand Debut in my gallery! Hope y'all like it!

Bowser has always been my favorite Mario Bros. character. I'm not sure why, though. Maybe because he's like part snapping turtle and part dragon, or whatever he is. LoL Or maybe because he spits fire, he has nasty spikes all over his shell, and he just looks like a big bad guy. Which is all cooler than a plummer, princess, or mushroom.
Anywho, I always play Bowser in Super Smash Brothers, so when I was playing it one day I thought, "Hey. I could pause him in any position, move the camera around for different angles and draw him!" So I did! I liked this pose; low to the ground, head-on with eye contact. I drew it in pencil, then inked it by hand and scanned it on the computer. I used Photoshop for the coloring, which was also my first attempt to color something this detailed. I rather like it. ^.^ Go Bowser!
UPDATE: some of the Koopalings were updated to reflect their new designs from the New Super Mario Bros Wii. Still no Jr. because he wasn't around in the 80's...and i don't like him. He's the most boring character in the Mario universe.
This might just be my favorite piece in my Mario Collection. Do you remember when the Airships flew into the 7 different Mushroom Nations in Super Mario Bros. 3 to steal the magic wands from the kings? Well, this is my version of that scene from world 1, the Grasslands. This was originally going to be a piece based on Bowser's invasion of the Starbit Festival in Super Mario Galaxy, but I decided to go old school instead...as I am prone to do ;^)
The castle is based off of the sprite used in SMB3 for the Nintendo and I added a small mushroom town inspired by the artwork from the 1989 cartoon "The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3".
My love affair with Bowser's airship armada continues. I worked with the original SMB3 concept and melded it with the design used in SMG and I am thrilled with the outcome. I also drew some mini-airships that always flew along side Bowser's and the Koopalings' larger airships.
Super Mario Bros. 3 was the last truly magical Mario Game. The sequels that followed were great and extremely fun but SMB3 had a quality that has never been rivaled. One of it's claims to fame is that it introduced some of the most original concepts for characters, enemies, levels and items that have ever been seen in the Mario universe but we just don't see many of them used anymore. I would love to see more boomerang bros, or Boom-Boom, or mico-mugger-goombas, etc...
EDIT 2 (edit 1 at the end xD) XD: sorry for the update, but I made some corrections to the drawing.
<<I'll rule a great galactic empire with Peach by my side. It will last forever! I will rule every pitiful corner of the universe. So, Mario, as you can see, I've got big plans... and stomping you is at the top of my list!>>
If only I was a famous moviemaker and/or if I had a mountain of money thanks to this (or also thanks to other!!!), I would take seriously the idea to make of Super Mario Galaxy the most epic animated movie of ever!
Even if some gamers won't agree with me, I believe that Super Mario Galaxy is the best Super Mario Game of ever!
And the second part, Super Mario galaxy 2, is coming soon this year!!! Yayyyyyyy!!!!! CAN't WAIT!! ^o^
I don't know if you saw it, but Bowser got amoveset very similar to the Mario ones. I have choosen the best move (in my opinion ) for this drawing. ...I must say that Bowser scares me always when he makes this kind of dark tornado, because he becomes very fast all of sudden! Anyway, you can shield this Bowser's attack with the same move: I think also this particular situation is precious in the game! ^.^ drawing made by hands and then coloured with Adobe Photoshop CS4. Time spent on this: maybe more than 24 hours...mamma mia!
Bowser moveset is similar to the Mario one I noticed:
1) He makes triple jump (little, medium and high), just like Mario, but staying in the place and creating also dangerous waves when he touches the ground. 2) He swings on his feet and he creates little black-sparkling lights from his arms, like that Super Mario attack of Galaxy (with the difference Mario has blue-white sparkling lights coming out of his arms) 3) Bowser jumps and knocks down with his bottom sometimes during the battle..just like Super Mario!!
I don't think these attacks are pure coincidence...
EDIT: "Musical drawing" here >>> [link]* Hope you like Super Mario galaxy music! ^_^ (I have some projects to work with this program and I am not thinking of slideshows...XD)
